Re: Mel's Passion
Top 10 Reasons Why Mel's Passion Isn't As It Was
10. Nails in the wrist, not in the hands.
9. Mary the mother of Jesus had other sons.
8. Koine Greek, the most common language of the day, isn't used in the film.
7. Roman soldiers were present when Jesus was arrested.
6. The cross is wrong.
5. The Jews who spoke with Jesus were trying to intercede on Jesus' behalf,
not railroad him.
4. It wasn't blasphemy to identify yourself as the Messiah or the Son of
Man.
3. Pilate was not the sensitive, thoughtful ruler portrayed in the film.
2. Pilate was the instigator of the death of Jesus, not Caiaphas.
And the number one way that Mel's Passion isn't as it was:
The resurrection of Jesus is not historical.

In The Chaos Household
Last Night
Partly cloudy day.
The local TV media seems to be trying to manufacture outrage at gay marriages, but the majority of citizens interviewed expressed little to no concern. The local rupert-outlet even showed a 'protest' tonight in W. Hollywood, but there were only 3

Talked to dear old Dad tonight where he brought up the topic, and his attitude was 'hey, love is love.' Quite honestly, it wasn't the response I anticipated, but was delighted, nevertheless.
Have I mentioned that dear old Dad is very eyetalian, remarkably catholic, approaching 80, a decorated WWII vet & lifelong Democrat?

Athens Torchbearer
Angelina Jolie
In a letter to Athens Games organizers released Tuesday, Angelina Jolie, star of the two "Lara Croft" adventure movies, agreed to run one of the very last legs of the relay in Athens, the day before the lighting of the Olympic cauldron at the opening ceremony on August 13.
The 29-year-old actress who is also a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), will carry the Olympic torch for a few hundred meters on the afternoon of August 12, as the international relay comes to a close in the Greek capital after crossing all five continents.
"I would consider it an honor to run with the Olympic torch as a gesture of hope for refugees and to express my active support for sport and world peace," Jolie said. "The preferred time for me to run would be 1800 or 1900 hours."

Rips Leno
Howard Stern
Howard Stern tore into Jay Leno for nearly an hour yesterday, blasting him for "ripping off" longtime sidekick "Stuttering John" Melendez.
"Jay thinks this is going to make him hip," Stern railed on his first day back on the air after learning that Leno hired Melendez to be his new announcer and correspondent starting next month.
Stern has frequently accused Leno of swiping bits from his top-rated radio show, including his stripper and homeless-person quizzes and wacky celebrity interviews - a Stuttering John trademark.
"You make $14 million a year and Letterman makes $31 million. Why don't you ask NBC for the 31 and pay me the rest since I'm writing material for you now?
"You wanted a guy associated with my show [because] you can't get 18 to 25-year-old men," Stern said. "To an 18- to 25-year-old male, Jay Leno is gay. He might as well put a dress on."
Leno called Stern twice to discuss Melendez, according to the shock jock, and even asked Stern to appear on the "Tonight Show" to discuss his gripes - an offer Stern rejected.
"I told him everyone in the business is talking about how transparent and lame and gay you are and that you can't even develop your own people," Stern said. "I said this move is as bizarre to me as when you hid in the closet and spied on the NBC executives."

Launches Mideast Peace Plan
Jason Alexander
Actor Jason Alexander of "Seinfeld" fame on Tuesday helped launch a grass roots peace initiative with a twist: Israelis and Palestinians are asked to vote on the terms of a future agreement via the Internet.
The "One Voice" campaign, backed by Alexander and several other Hollywood celebrities, seeks to gauge the feelings of ordinary Palestinians and Israelis on core issues in the conflict through an Internet referendum.
Alexander said he first joined the campaign after attending a gathering of One Voice organizers and other celebrity supporters at the Hollywood home of Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman.
One Voice founders Daniel Lubetzky, an American Jewish businessman, and Mohammed Darawshe, an Israeli Arab peace activist, gave the group a presentation on the peace program.
Fellow actors Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston, also at that gathering, signed up to help the project as well.

Daughter Of Dick
Mary Cheney
A gay-rights group is urging US Vice President Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter, Mary Cheney, to oppose resident George W. Bush's move to support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
The group, DontAmend.com, is calling on Americans to sign a letter asking Mary Cheney, 34, to speak out against the proposed amendment.
"Dear Mary, Vice President Cheney, your father, recently said he would support adding anti-gay prejudice to the US Constitution, making you and millions of other Americans second-class citizens," says the letter, which the group published at dearmary.com.
Nearly 8,000 people have sent Mary Cheney the letter through the web site.

Bows Out of Lena Horne TV Movie
Janet Jackson
A planned ABC television movie about the life of singing great Lena Horne has become the latest casualty of Janet Jackson's breast-baring Super Bowl performance.
Jackson bowed out of the TV movie, and executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron quit in support of her, after Horne refused to go along with the project as long as Jackson remained cast to play her in the film, publicists for Jackson and the producers said on Tuesday.
"Janet is no longer part of the (project) because Lena didn't want her in it," Jackson spokesman Stephen Huvane told Reuters. "ABC and the producers were supporting Janet, and Janet realized this wasn't going to change, so she needed to bow out, and then the producers bowed out with her."
A source close to the situation told Reuters that Horne ultimately refused to further cooperate with the movie unless Jackson was replaced, but that ABC stood by Jackson.

More than 5,000 fans gave Mariah Carey a rapturous welcome in the Lebanese capital as the US pop star gave her first concert in the Arab world.
Appearing in a two-piece, silver belly-dancing outfit, the blonde Carey was sorrounded by bodyguards as she entered the downtown BIEL leisure centre facing the eastern Mediterranean.
Most of the crowd were youths in jeans and T-shirt, but among the VIPs were Andree Lahoud, wife of President Emile Lahoud, MP Bahia Hariri, a sister of Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri, and the US ambassador to Lebanon, Vincent Battle.

'Musicology' Tour
Prince
Funk veteran Prince will next month release a new album, and embark on his first major tour in six years, but warned Tuesday that the concerts will be the last time fans get to hear his hits for a while.
Announcing the tour Tuesday in Los Angeles, Prince played the jazz-infused title track from the new album, "Musicology." Explaining his fresh material -- label distribution is still being negotiated -- Prince said, "'Musicology' is very important to us. means that when we create music, we let it dictate our next moves in life."
Old favorites will also be part of the tour, which will be presented in the round. But Prince warned that these gigs will be the last time fans will be able hear his classics for a while, since he is "wanting to make room for new music."
Prince will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame March 16 in New York. Leading up to the event, the artist is confirmed to appear and perform Wednesday (March 3) on the syndicated "The Ellen DeGeneres (news) Show."

Ted Nugent has admitted he fathered the 8-year-old son of a Dover woman suing the 1970s rocker for child support and custody, according to her lawyer.
Karen Gutowski, 43, sued Nugent for custody and support in August in Strafford County Superior Court. Her lawyer, Jeffrey Runge, said Nugent, 55, has acknowledged he is the father and paid minimal support but has never met the boy.
Nugent has sold millions of albums. He is a renowned hunting enthusiast, member of the National Rifle Association's board of directors and host of a new reality television show on VH1, "Surviving Nugent," filmed on his Concord, Mich., ranch.
Nugent was named Michigan Conservationist of the Year in 1999 and has been named Father of the Year at his child's school, according to a biography on TedNugent.com. Nugent has two children with his wife, Shemane Nugent.

Court Hearing Delayed for Rush Guitarist
Alex Lifeson
The State Attorney's Office has postponed an arraignment for the lead guitarist of the rock group Rush, but charged his daughter-in-law with resisting arrest.
It was the third arraignment delay for Alex Zivojinovich, known on stage as Alex Lifeson, on charges stemming from a New Year's Eve fight with sheriff's deputies at a posh hotel.
Alex Zivojinovich, 50, has been charged by the Collier County Sheriff's Office with six counts that include aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, and disorderly intoxication.

Budding Director
Paris Hilton
Reality TV star Paris Hilton directed and helped shoot the notorious sex video starring her and an ex-boyfriend that has surfaced on at least two Internet porn sites, according to documents filed for a Los Angeles court hearing on Monday.
The documents were filed by Seattle-based Marvad Corp. asking a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit by Hilton's ex-boyfriend, Rick Salomon, on the basis that Hilton, best known as the star of the Fox reality TV show "The Simple Life," also held rights to the video.
In court papers, Marvad's lawyers argued that the case should be thrown out because Salomon was not the sole copyright holder as he apparently had claimed in registration documents.
At one point in the video, Hilton even pushed Salomon out of the frame so as to not block the shot, the document said.
"Salomon's failure to identify Ms. Hilton as a co-author on the application for copyright registration renders the certificate of registration invalid and fraudulent," the document said.

Hire Retired Judge
Jackson & Rowe
Michael Jackson and his ex-wife, Deborah Rowe, have agreed to hire a retired judge to handle an unspecified "family law matter," according to a court document.
The matter is believed to concern custody and visitation arrangements for the couple's two children — a boy, 7, and a girl, who is 5 or 6, who reportedly live with Jackson.
In an order filed Friday, a judge approved an agreement reached by Jackson and Rowe on Jan. 27 to have retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen M. Lachs preside over the case. Lachs works with a center for alternative dispute resolution that allows parties in civil disputes to hire private judges at a rate of $650 an hour.
"They hire private judges so that everything can be done behind closed doors," said attorney Dana Cole, an expert in family law who is not involved in the case.

Fired By Clear Channel
Bubba the Love Sponge
Florida radio personality "Bubba the Love Sponge," who was accused of airing indecent material by federal regulators, has been fired, media group Clear Channel Communications said on Tuesday.
The Federal Communications Commission last month proposed a $755,000 fine against Clear Channel, the biggest operator of radio stations in the United States, because of sexual material broadcast during a "Bubba the Love Sponge" program on WXTB-FM in Tampa and three other Florida radio stations.
"Bubba the Love Sponge," who had legally changed his name from Todd Clem, was fined $23,000 by the FCC in 1998 for airing indecent material. Two years ago, he was acquitted of animal cruelty charges after a pig was castrated and killed during one of his broadcasts.
The "Bubba" program had been ranked first in its morning broadcasting slot among younger Florida listeners.

The 57-year-old star of the five "Rocky" movies will be executive producer of "The Contender," working with reality mogul Mark Burnett ("The Apprentice" and "Survivor") and Jeffrey 'Sparky' Katzenberg, a founder of DreamWorks SKG.
Stallone and Burnett, speaking at a news conference at a downtown boxing club Tuesday, said the NBC series will focus on the lives of boxing hopefuls in and outside the ring. NBC executives said the show will likely air in the 2004-05 season.
