Winter is coming and the lads have a big problem, no money to pay for heat. Vyv's solutions is his trusty chain saw. Neil is convinced they have a poltergoost. While 2 ghosts do walk around they aren't interested in our heros. Neil becomes even more convinced when Vyv saws the legs off Mike's chair. Mike just floats there. But logic rules supreme, Mike has just nailed his legs to the table.
This lack of money must cease, somebody must get a job. It is decided that Neil must join the Army. The others can't join, Rick- eardrum, Mike- flat feet, Vyv- Pregnancy!. Neil lasts 30 seconds in the army, so the lads push him to join the police. I'll let you watch the rest for yourselves.

Re: Kirk Douglas on TCM
No retrospective is complete w/o mention of "Ace in the Hole", aka "The Big Carnival". Made in 1951, and directed by Billy Wilder, it was one of the earliest depictions of the seamier side of staged "media events" for personal aggrandizement. Simply brilliant.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's RNC Speech
When I first arrived in America, I heard Richard Nixon speak and I said, "What party is he in? I want to be in dat party. I want to lie to America, break da law to win elections."
Later on, when I was groping women on da move sets, grabbing da asses and squeezing de breasts and snapping da panties and so on and so forth, sometimes a woman would cry or say no. And I would laugh at her and say, "You know you like it. Just like I love de great country of America, where my dreams came true. God Bless America!" [Long applause.]

Groups Challenge Licenses
Two TV Stations
Two Washington area television stations should not have their broadcast licenses renewed because they failed to meet requirements for airing children's educational programing, advocacy groups said on Wednesday.
The groups said the airing by Paxson Communications Corp.'s WPXW station in Manassas, Virginia, of "Miracle Pets," and by News Corp.'s UPN station WDCA in Washington of "Ace Lightning" and "Stargate Infinity" should not count toward the minimum three hours of such programing they must air each week.
The Office of Communication of the United Church of Christ Inc., the Center for Digital Democracy, and the Institute for Public Representation urged regulators to deny the renewals because the shows were not designed for children, to educate them, or were not regularly scheduled as required.
The Federal Communications Commission "needs to send an unequivocal message that it will deny a TV station's license if that station has failed their child audience," said Gloria Tristani, a former FCC commissioner and now managing director at the Office of Communication.

Bosnians to Build Monument
Bruce Lee
In Bosnia, where one man's hero is often another man's villain, some citizens have decided to honor a man Serbs, Croats and Muslims can all look up to - kung fu great Bruce Lee.
Lee is best remembered for single-handedly taking on dozens of bad guys in a series of kung fu flicks. But the statue of the action hero in the ethnically divided city of Mostar is intended to remind people of Lee's lesser known values - "loyalty, friendship, skill and justice," said Veselin Gatalo, a writer who helped come up with the idea.
They hope to install the statue by November this year and invite Lee's wife, Linda Lee to the opening ceremony, Gatalo said.
The site picked for the statue is symbolic - the Spanish Square, in the center of the divided city some 70 kilometers (45 miles) south of the capital Sarajevo.

Sells 4.1M Copies in One Day
'The Passion of the Christ'
The second coming of Mel Gibson's biblical epic "The Passion of the Christ" sold 4.1 million DVD copies by Wednesday after only one day in stores.
While the figure from distributor Fox Home Entertainment is high, it's not quite a record breaker.
"Finding Nemo" holds the No. 1 overall spot for one-day DVD sales with about 8 million. For a live-action movie, "Spider-Man" holds the one-day record with 7 million.

Loses Tax Case
Val Kilmer
The state Court of Appeals on Tuesday ruled against actor Val Kilmer and his ex-wife, actress Joanne Whalley, in a dispute over a tax refund of more than $300,000 sought by the couple.
The refund claim was for $304,217 in personal income taxes paid for the year 1995. The couple said they were due the refund because Whalley - who had filed for divorce - had moved to California in the latter part of the year.
The amended 1995 New Mexico return claiming the refund, which was filed by the couple's accountant, was not processed because the department lost it.
While the court said it was "sympathetic to taxpayers' plight" and did not approve of the department's conduct, it rejected the claim that the couple's accountant had been misled in conversations with department employees.

Baby News
Giant Pandas
For pandas, it's practically a baby boom. Two giant pandas were born this week, and mothers and cubs were doing fine, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Wednesday.
Leilei, a 15-year-old giant panda, gave birth to a cub early Monday. Just an hour later, a 14-year-old panda known as No. 20 delivered a second cub, Xinhua said.
About 1,600 giant pandas survive in the wild, mostly in the mountains in southwestern China. Some 160 live in captivity.
