The CIA nd Bush CONTINUE to Deceive

We're all grown ups here aren't we? Especially in the times we're going through. We're big boys and girls and we should be able to handle any terrorist plot, I mean, what was this situation that comes our way, hmmm?

Then why in the fuck are there coded names in the 9/11 report? We're playing games at a time that the cloak and dagger games are up, fellars. Christ almighty, why all these Shrouds of Quantico lingering over a "PUBLIC" report to serve us dumbshits "THE AMERICAN REPUBLIC". I mean, the dumbest thing you can do when you have fucked up the war to the extent that it currently resides, I'd think Bunypants would offer to his staff (this is Bunnypants talkin' now) "We best come clean here, boys, we's done caught.. a,I, well, we imagine some here are some of us might be going to federal prison and it mig be for a long haul. Dick, you oughtta start gettin backup.

Dumped By Slim-Fast

Whoopi Goldberg

The Slim-Fast diet drink company has dumped Whoopi Goldberg from its advertising because its executives were unhappy with remarks the comedian made at a recent political rally that mocked resident Bush.

"We are disappointed by the manner in which Ms. Goldberg chose to express herself and sincerely regret that her recent remarks offended some of our consumers. Ads featuring Ms. Goldberg will no longer be on the air," Slim-Fast general manager Terry Olson said in a press release Wednesday.

Goldberg participated at a recent Democratic fund-raiser at Radio City Music Hall in New York, joining performers such as John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange and John Leguizamo.

At one point in a speech mocking the Bush administration, Goldberg used his surname as a sexual reference.

So much for freedom of speech at a private gathering. Looks like they're trying to Dixie-Chick Whoopi.
To loosely quote Dickless Cheney, Slim-Fast, 'go fuck yourself.'

Slams Bush Regime

The Future Dictionary of America

If you've never dropped the word "dubyavirus" into casual conversation, urged that an official be "ashcrofted" or commented upon "The Cheney Effect," then you haven't seen the future. At least, not the future according to McSweeney's latest publication.

The genre of anti-Bush books has now entered the reference field. In August, McSweeney's, the publishing house founded by author-activist Dave Eggers, is releasing The Future Dictionary of America, a Utopian tome set "sometime" beyond the present.

Contributors include Eggers, Stephen King, Kurt Vonnegut, Jonathan Franzen, Wendy Wasserstein and more than 100 others. Proceeds will be donated to "groups working for the public good in the 2004 election."

"The dictionary was conceived as a way for a great number of American writers and artists to voice their displeasure with their current political leadership, and to collectively imagine a brighter future," reads an introductory note from the editors.

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld is the basis for "rumsfeld," defined by Vonnegut as "one who can stomach casualties." Attorney General John Ashcroft inspired novelist Robert Coover to coin "ashcrofted," when one is "removed from or disqualified for public office on grounds of religious delusions."

Stephen King contributes "sloudge," his term for the endless political opining on cable television. "Most sloudge," King writes, is conducted by "overweight white men" seated around "shiny tables" and mouthing off against the liberal state.

Sample usage of sloudge, a la King: "The President's press conference was followed by over three hours of sloudge on MSNBC and six hours of sloudge on Fox-TV."

Portrait to Hang at Okla. Capitol

Woody Guthrie

Dust Bowl troubadour Woody Guthrie's portrait will be hung Thursday at the state Capitol.

Guthrie wrote hundreds of songs after leaving Okemah, Okla., as a teenager, including the folk anthem, "This Land Is Your Land."

Artist Charles Banks Wilson chose Guthrie as the subject when asked to do another Capitol portrait, said state Sen. Charles Ford of Tulsa, president of the Oklahoma Senate Historical Preservation Fund.

The Oklahoma Gazette, the largest weekly newspaper in Oklahoma, is raising money for the portrait and Wilson is donating his fee to the fight against Huntington's Disease, officials said.

Guthrie died in 1967 in New York of Huntington's Disease, a degenerative brain disorder.

Returning To Toronto's Second City

Joe Flaherty

Joe Flaherty, a revered member of the old SCTV cast, will be joining the onstage cast of Toronto's Second City later this month to reprise some of his famous SCTV sketches and characters. The performances will take place from July 21 to 24.

The evening will begin with a welcome from Caballero - Flaherty's Godfather-type station manager at SCTV - followed by the troupe's current review, Invasion Free Since 1812.

Then the piece de resistance: an updated sketch of the Sammy Maudlin Show which will pay homage to the late John Candy, who used to play Sammy's fawning sidekick-announcer William B.

Celebrates 86th Birthday

Ingmar Bergman

Ingmar Bergman, one of the great masters of modern film, celebrated his 86th birthday Wednesday with a sour gift for fans - an announcement that he's retiring from the stage.

Bergman said his 2002 production of Henrik Ibsen's Ghost at Sweden's Royal Dramatic Theatre would be his last. "After Ghost, I decided that this must be it. I do not want them to carry me out of the theatre. I'm leaving by myself," he said in an interview with the newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

"Nobody will need to say, 'Now the old man has to quit'."

Brings Orchestra to Radio City

Elton John

Elton John has performed with some big names - Cher, Billy Joel, Eminem - and at some big places - Westminster Abbey, Central Park, Caesars Palace - in his lengthy career.

But never before had John appeared with a full symphony orchestra in North America, or at Radio City Music Hall. During a concert Tuesday night, he did both.

John wowed the crowd - which was a little Metropolitan Opera and a little Madison Square Garden - with gigantic hits such as "Tiny Dancer" and "Don't Let the Sun." Favorites "Bennie and the Jets" and "Rocket Man" were absent, though, with John opting strictly for orchestration-friendly fare.

The two-hour concert, the first of five at Radio City, finished with a duet of "Your Song" with opera diva Renee Fleming. After the show, the glitterati filed into the Rainbow Room for what John described as a "gay-la" dinner. The proceeds from the opening night concert and gala will benefit the Julliard School and the Royal Academy of Music.

3 Generations Appear in Vogue

Presleys

Life after Elvis is far from heartbreak hotel for the Presley women. In the August issue of Vogue, three generations of Presleys - Priscilla, her daughter, Lisa Marie, and Lisa Marie's daughter, Danielle Riley - candidly discuss their lives.

Lisa Marie, Elvis' daughter turned pop star, expressed relief that her teenage daughter, who uses her middle name, Riley, hadn't turned out like Paris Hilton.

In April 2003, Lisa Marie said similar things about Paris and her sister, Nicky, to the Los Angeles Times: "Those two are the epitome of what my mother raised me not to be. I don't know what they've done. Maybe it's the bleach that fascinates people." (The Hiltons didn't return calls from The Associated Press seeking comment on Monday.)

Lisa Marie, 36, is working on her second album, a follow-up to 2003's "To Whom It May Concern."

Underground Railroad Museum

Slave Pen

A pre-Civil War slave pen, made of roughhewn logs on a farm in Kentucky and reassembled at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, was dedicated Tuesday night as the focal point of the $110 million museum.

About 200 guests attended the dedication of the 20-by-30-foot, two-story structure. The Freedom Center is set to open to the public in August.

Researchers say the pen, which looks like a small house, was built by a slave merchant in Maysville, Ky., in 1833. It was used in the so-called internal slave trade, which mostly comprised children of slaves taken from eastern plantations who were held until they could be sent to the South and West, officials said.

The structure was donated to the Freedom Center by a man who bought the Kentucky farm and found the pen inside a tobacco barn. Freedom Center officials say it is one of only a handful in existence.
