Re: Rush Limbaugh - A New Theme Song
Hi Marty,
Dunno if you listen to Paul Westerberg or not, but his
new album, Come Feel Me Tremble includes a nice little
rocker called "Hillbilly Junk."
I wonder if Rush will
quit using "My City Was Gone" by the Pretenders when
he gets back.
"Hillbilly Junk" is a nice little 50's
style rocker that's far from the best song on the
album, but would make nice bumper music for any Rush
Limbaugh articles.
Rick
Thanks, Rick! Will try to track down a copy.

Re: cnnnn porn search engine?
Hi Marty,
I was curious and looked at the cnnnn link and what I got doesn't appear porn related. I didn't download any mpegs but everything I saw appears to be news related (Bush, Iraq , space, etc).
What are you guys seeing that I'm not?
Curious Chris
Thanks, CC!
Jeez, busted again. The last few days have been a bit hectic - doing my best elf-on-acid routine trying to keep caught up.
I promise that once I get this page posted, I'll go check out the link - really.

Clinton, Loren & Gorby
Former President Bill Clinton, Mikhail Gorbachev and actress Sophia Loren are narrators on a new album from the Russian National Orchestra, featuring Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" and a new composition, "Wolf Tracks," by Jean-Pascal Beintus.
Clinton narrates "Wolf Tracks," Loren narrates "Peter and the Wolf" and Gorbachev, the former Soviet leader, sets the stage for both pieces.
All three narrators have designated charities to receive their royalties — the International Aids Trust (Clinton), the Magic of Music, an arts therapy program sponsored by the RNO (Loren), and Green Cross International (Gorbachev).
Proceeds from the sale of the PentaTone Classics disc also will be shared with the New York-based Wolf Conservation Center.

Still a Record Breaker
Julie Krone
Julie Krone became the first woman jockey to win a Breeders' Cup race at Santa Anita Park on Saturday but played down the significance of her trailblazing achievement.
Krone became the first woman rider to a win a Triple Crown race in 1993, riding Colonial Affair to victory in the Belmont Stakes. She also became in 2000 the first woman to be inducted into the Racing Hall of Fame.
The Benton Harbor, Michigan-born jockey moved to Southern California after retiring in 1999 and worked as a commentator on telecasts from local racetracks. She resumed her career as a jockey less than a year ago because she was missing race riding so much.
Krone suffered a near fatal race accident in 1993 and just seven months ago fractured two bones in her lower back in a starting gate accident prompting a four-month layoff but nothing seems able to shake her passion for riding horses.
"I can only say that every day is what I enjoy," she said, noting her love for a life that involves arriving at the stables every morning at around 4:30 a.m. and putting in 14-hour work days.

Feeds Music Fans
Amoeba
From the moment it opened its doors in November 2001, there was little doubt that Amoeba Music would be a major force in the L.A. retail market.
Hundreds of customers swarmed the store on opening day, hunting for bargains among the store's 150,000 new CDs, 350,000 used CDs and 200,000 used LPs.
The 28,000-square-foot Hollywood location has since become what co-owner Karen Pearson calls "a gathering place" for music addicts.
Amoeba has seen heavy traffic this year, with close to 150 live in-store appearances by such artists as Cody Chesnutt. The most heavily attended in-store acts each have lured more than 1,000 attendees.
In an era of diminishing label support, Amoeba also has been the beneficiary of label co-op advertising and probably has the highest profile of any L.A. store in local alternative papers.

Miss Afghanistan
President Hamid Karzai's minister for women's affairs condemned Miss Afghanistan, as Vida Samadzai became the country's first woman in the post-Taliban era to appear in a bikini during a beauty contest in Manila.
Habiba Surabi said according to Afghan culture women should not demonstrate their worth using their "beauty or bodies" but by their skills and knowledge.
The 25-year-old Afghan contestant, who lives in the United States, is the first Afghan woman in 30 years to participate in the Miss World international beauty contest being held in the Philippines capital this week.
The dark-haired, black-eyed Samadzai, apparently from a Pashtun tribe, was born and raised in Afghanistan but left for the United States in 1996 to escape the extremist Taliban regime which forced women to cover themselves from head to toe.

Wrangles With Parking Hassle
Kid Rock
Kid Rock may project a bad-boy image, but his current hassles with the authorities involve the mundane issues of parking and zoning.
The parking problem emerged in this Detroit suburb, where the rapper-rocker is to perform at a theater for a VH1 cable network special. The Nov. 3-4 concerts are for a December holiday TV special.
The theater's operator Joe Nieporte told the Detroit Free Press that VH1 wanted eight metered parking spaces for its production trucks, but the city — fearing the effect on neighboring businesses — denied the request.

Protesters hang a large banner from the window of a downtown office building, during an anti-war demonstration in Washington, October 25, 2003. Thousands rallied in Washington on Saturday to protest against U.S. policy in Iraq, the first major demonstration since resident George W. Bush declared an end to major combat in the war on Iraq.

Stolen Da Vinci
In the hills above this tiny Scottish village (Carronbridge) stands a magnificent stately home.
Inside is a wall and on it an empty space, little bigger than a sheet of writing paper, that tells the story of an industry costing Britain up to $848 million each year.
Until two months ago, the space was occupied by the "Madonna of the Yarnwinder," a 16th century painting credited to Leonardo Da Vinci.
The Madonna is the most highly valued piece of art ever stolen in Britain but is by no means alone.
The National Criminal Intelligence Service estimates that raids on Britain's art collections, galleries and stately homes net between $470-785 million each year.
