I Knew It
I told you the other day about the unelected one coming to Charleston and
was going to appear at a public sponsered taxpayer paid event. I was
looking forward to being arrested for trying to give him a piece of my
mind( he needs some brain cells). But, lo and behold,
the event has now been moved and you need a ticket to get in.
Notice there was to be a rally less than a block from where he was to
appear. What a (excuse my french) chicken-shit.

In The Chaos Household
Last Night
Sunny, breezy day and a lovely cool evening.
We had another lizard join our menagerie - don't know what kind this one is yet, but at least it wasn't cat chow.
Had to run to the critter place & get a terrarium for it, then set it up.
Ended up driving through Lakewood, where 'safe & sane' fireworks are sold. Fireworks are forbidden in Long Beach, so of course I didn't buy any. Nope. Not me.
British actor Ian McKellen (L) and London's Mayor Ken Livingstone (R) wave to the crowd who have come out to support the gay Pride London Parade in central London, July 3, 2004. Thousands watched the march, which for the first time this year is being formally recognized as a parade rather than a demonstration.

'Fahrenheit 9/11'
The president of a company that owns movie theaters in Iowa and Nebraska is refusing to show director Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11."
R.L. Fridley, owner of Des Moines-based Fridley Theatres, says the controversial documentary incites terrorism.
Fridley said in an e-mail message to company managers that the company does not "play political propaganda films from either the right or the left."
"Our country is in a war against an enemy who would destroy our way of life, our culture and kill our people," Fridley wrote. "These barbarians have shown through (the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001) and the recent beheadings that they will stop at nothing. I believe this film emboldens them and divides our country even more."

Reunites With the Time, Sheila E
Prince
Anniversaries often bring reunions. And to mark the 20th anniversary of "Purple Rain," Prince reunited with some of the players in his musical past - Morris Day and The Time, guitarist Wendy Melvoin and former protege Sheila E.
"This hasn't been done like this in a long time," said veteran musician Larry Graham, who performed at Friday's Essence Music Festival show at the Superdome in New Orleans. "This is just right on time."
Prince's show, the kickoff to the three-day annual concert festival in the city, was a five-hour party attended by 50,000 people, the largest crowd for a concert in the festival's 10-year history.

A show from Zambelli Fireworks Internationale explodes over PNC Park in Pittsburgh after the doubleheader between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee brewers Friday, July 2, 2004. George Zambelli Sr. would often turn his back on the massive shows he put on as patriarch of one of the country's first families of fireworks, choosing instead to watch the crowd's reaction. But this Fourth of July weekend, his family and Zambelli Fireworks Internationale will carry on without him, producing oohs and ahswith more than 1,700 pyrotechnic displays from coast to coast. Zambelli died Dec. 25 at age 79.

Sues to Keep Ownership of Van Gogh
Elizabeth Taylor
Screen legend Elizabeth Taylor is fighting a family's claims that a Vincent van Gogh painting she owns was taken from one of their ancestors by Nazis.
Descendants of Margarete Mauthner claim "View of the Asylum of Saint-Remy" was taken from the German woman during World War II, and are demanding the Taylor return the painting, which appraisers said could fetch $10 million to $15 million at auction.
Taylor, whose father bought her the painting at a London auction in 1963, has filed a lawsuit seeking a pre-emptive court declaration that she is the rightful owner of the painting, which hangs in the living room of her Bel-Air estate.

Trial Over Mandolin
Bill Monroe
A legal fight over who will retain the rights to bluegrass music pioneer Bill Monroe's mandolin is headed to trial later this month in Tennessee.
Monroe's son, James Monroe, wants to sell the Gibson F-5 mandolin to the Ohio County Industrial Foundation instead of the Bill Monroe Foundation.
A deal for the Monroe foundation to buy the mandolin fell through in October 2002. The effort, spearheaded by Mercer, paid $162,500 toward the $1.1 million contracted price of the mandolin. But a bank loan for part of the money fell through "for reasons that will be discussed in the trial," Mercer said.

G.I. Joe
More than 400 million G.I. Joes have rolled off the Hasbro production line since 1964. And despite approaching middle age, the fighting Everyman has not lost his appeal. Several thousand devotees of the action figure are gathering at a convention in Orlando, Fla., this weekend to celebrate G.I. Joe's birthday and history. The eighth national convention promises to be the biggest G.I. Joe bash ever.
G.I. Joe has changed over the years and his many different incarnations make for rich collecting. To many people, he is an indelible part of their childhood.
The history of G.I. Joe, which remains a core brand for the of G.I. Joe, which remains a core brand for the Rhode Island-based Hasbro, is filled with twists and turns.

Snubs Ex-Host Farm Family
Paris Hilton
The farm family that hosted heiress Paris Hilton and her friend Nicole Richie for the first season of "The Simple Life" says life has not always been easy since the show aired.
The Ledings say they have received reams of fan mail and dozens of friendly phone calls since the first season aired. But mom Janet Leding says one message hurt her feelings.
When Entertainment Weekly magazine asked Hilton last month if she kept in touch with the Ledings, she replied, "I changed my number."
"She made us sound like we were trying to stalk her," Janet Leding said. "Who's been calling her? We talked to them a couple of times right after they left. Nicole - I talked to her about three times. We weren't trying to call them all the time. We don't care one way or other."

Charged With Violation
Jeffrey Jones
Actor Jeffrey Jones, best known for playing the high school principal in the 1980s comedy "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," is accused of failing to register as a sex offender.
Jones, 57, pleaded no contest last July to a felony charge of employing a 14-year-old boy to pose for sexually explicit photos. The actor was sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to register as a sex offender and undergo counseling.
Officials said Jones registered the address he was at last year, but moved in March without registering again. Sex offenders must notify authorities within 48 hours of a move.
On Thursday, authorities arrested Jones and charged him with failing to register as a sex offender. He was later released on $1,000 bail, according to police records.

Unusual Showing at Smithsonian
Imperial Chinese Crockery
Blue and white porcelain used by Chinese emperors half a millennium ago - now worth millions of dollars to collectors - goes on exhibit Saturday alongside some multicoloured pieces that the Ming emperors prized even more highly.
It's the first exhibit of art from the Ming dynasty in the more than 80-year history of the Smithsonian's Freer Gallery, which is devoted to Asian art.
The Washington show is called Luxury and Luminosity and includes other types of art from the Freer's own Ming dynasty collection, from 1368 to 1644.
