Golden Raspberry Awards
The honeymoon's over for Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, but their mob-comedy flop "Gigli" really cleaned up Saturday at the Razzies, the first movie to take all six top trophies in the annual dishonorable-mention awards.
Golden Raspberry Awards voters picked "Gigli" as 2003's worst picture, Affleck as worst actor, Lopez as worst actress and the two as worst screen couple. "Gigli" filmmaker Martin Brest also took the Razzies for worst director and screenplay.
The movie, which starred Affleck as a thug smitten by Lopez as a lesbian crime colleague, fell short of the record seven Razzies won by "Showgirls" and "Battlefield Earth."
"But those are much better bad movies, if that makes any sense," said Razzies founder John Wilson. "If you sit through them with the right people or the right brand of liquor, they can be strangely entertaining.
"But I don't care how medicated you are or what people you're watching it with, `Gigli' is just a pain in the posterior. It's one of those things that is, as opposed to enjoyably embarrassing, it's just skin-crawlingly embarrassing."
Among other "winners," Sylvester Stallone padded his Razzie resume with a record 10th prize, this time for worst supporting actor in "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over." Stallone's past Razzies include one for worst actor of the 20th century.

Locals rally at the start of the island-wide human chain with inflatable letters spelling 'PEACE' in the ruling Democratic Progressive Party's signature green color, Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 on Hoping Island in Taiwan's northern city of Keelung. Taiwan government supporters claim to have recruited more than 1million people to form a human chain over 487 kilometers (303 miles) _ from the northern port of Keelung to Pingtung County near the island's southern tip. Organizers and participants of 'Hand in Hand to Protect Taiwan' hope the display of people power will focus global attention on the island's threat of nearly 500 missiles pointed at the island from China.

Reads to Children
Peter Frampton
British-born rocker Peter Frampton knows how to pack the crowds — even at the local library.
Frampton, 53, drew dozens of children and their parents — many of whom were Frampton fans — to a children's book reading where he read Shel Silverstein's work, "The Giving Tree."
Frampton, who moved to suburban Cincinnati in 2000 with his family, has made time for several local benefit concerts and charity events.
"I try to squeeze as much time as I can to encourage reading and education," Frampton told The Cincinnati Post in Thursday's editions.

And CD Sales
Radio Consolidation
According to Edison Media Research, the most influential media impacting music consumers is radio. Amongst consumers who have purchased a CD in the past 12 months, a whopping 75% said their purchase was influenced by what they heard on the radio. Friends and family? A distant second, at 46%. Music television is third -- at least it was, back when MTV was actually playing music.
Consider this part 2 of basic lesson in simple math and economics. Radio is the dominant source impacting consumer purchases. They purchase what they hear broadcast. Due to consolidation, today Radio plays a fewer variety of artists, and airs less songs. Consumers hear less music.
You don't need a spreadsheet to figure out what happens next: Consumers buy less music. This phenomena is independent of any economic weakness we have previously discussed.
If the RIAA were smart -- and if you suspect by now I think they are not, congratulations, you've been paying attention -- they would hire a lobbyist to petition against pretty much everything Clear Channel Radio ever requests of Congress.

Face Lift Repercussions
Silvio Berlusconi
Italy's plastic surgeons have their noses out of joint over a snub from image-conscious Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who opted to have recent cosmetic surgery done in Switzerland rather than at home.
"We can't understand why the prime minister went to a foreigner," said Maurizio Priori, president of the 300-member Italian society for aesthetic medicine and surgery (SIES).
"He should have gone to an Italian plastic surgeon because I don't believe that between us, there isn't someone able to do just as good a job," Priori told the society's annual meeting in Bologna.

Pay Homage to Helmut Newton
Dolce & Gabbana
Dolce & Gabbana, who strut firmly at the sexy end of the style spectrum, paid homage to one of their greatest inspirations on Saturday in a collection dedicated to photographer Helmut Newton.
Surrounded by pictures by Newton, who died in a car crash earlier this year, models slipped into barely-there evening dresses that showed Dolce & Gabbana's famously sexy lingerie underneath -- about as Newton-naked as they could be.
The German photographer was known for his coldly erotic portraits of nude women, often sporting just a pair of stilettos or seam-backed stockings, two vital ingredients of Dolce & Gabbana's winter 2004 collection.
The collection, which was dreamed up months before Newton died, played with classic images of eroticism, starting with a series of black dresses and coats with white frill trims like a naughty French maid's outfit.
