Abraham Charles "Abe" Vigoda (born February 24, 1921) is an American movie and television actor who appeared in The Godfather, Barney Miller, and Joe Versus the Volcano.
Vigoda is well known for his portrayal of Sal Tessio in The Godfather and for his portrayal of Detective Sgt. Phil Fish on the sitcom television series Barney Miller from 1975 to 1977 and on its spinoff show Fish that aired from February 1977 to June 1978 on ABC.
After mistaken reports of his death in 1982 and 1987, Vigoda has been the subject of running gags as to whether he is dead or alive.

Found out something interesting last weekend from my niece Holly. She had her DNA done. I shows only the results from her Mother's (my sis) side of her family. It was all pretty much the standard info that we already knew about our family tree (Scandinavian, Pennsylvanian Dutch and Welsh). Oh and by the way, 4% Jamaican. Yeah! That's why we all got's rhythms and knows how to shake it!

Ten baby crocodiles transferred from Sweden have reached a Cuban hatchery to strengthen the species and extend the blood lines of a pair of Cuban crocodiles former President Fidel Castro gave to a Soviet cosmonaut in the 1970s.
The hatchlings, a gift from a Swedish zoo in April, were delivered to the Zapata Swamp National Park's hatchery on Thursday after a 40-day quarantine in Havana. Scientists hope to boost a species thinned by loss of habitat and interbreeding with the American crocodile.
The newly arrived 21-month-old siblings, each about a meter (3 feet) long, could be held for a year or more before release, Perez said.
They were born to a pair of Cuban crocodiles Castro gave cosmonaut Vladimir Shatalov, who had nowhere to keep them and placed them in a Moscow zoo. The zoo transferred them in 1981 to Stockholm's Skansen zoo, where they have been breeding ever since.

For believers, the Bosnian town of Medjugorje is as sacred as Lourdes or Fatima, a place where the Virgin Mary appeared to children that decades on has become a huge pilgrimage site.
And ahead of Pope Francis' visit to the capital Sarajevo on Saturday, the Catholics who flock to this small town hope the Vatican may finally recognise its controversial shrine, as it does the "official" ones in France and Portugal.
Pilgrims, praying aloud, climb the steep rocky hill in Bosnia's south where the Madonna is said to have "appeared" to six adolescents in 1981 -- and continues to "appear" to one of them daily.
Though he considers it a gift, 50-year-old Ivan Dragicevic, a teenager when the first "vision" occurred, says he has carried a "heavy responsibility for 34 years".
But even if the pope says nothing during his visit, Dragicevic's and other believers' faith in the Medjugorje "miracle" will remain unshaken.
Slices from the cakes of five British royal weddings dating back up to 42 years have been put up for auction -- accompanied by a health warning that they are "not suitable for consumption".
The slices were collected by Queen Elizabeth II's late chauffeur Leonard Massey, who kept them in the original packaging offered to wedding guests with monograms to celebrate the unions.
Most recent is a slice of brandy-infused fruit cake from the 2011 wedding of Prince William and his wife Kate, which has a guide price of $600-$800 (540-720 euros).
A slice from the 1981 cake from the wedding of William's parents, Prince Charles and the late Diana, is expected to fetch the most with a guide price of $1,000-$2,000.
The cakes will be sold at Julien's Auctions on June 27 in Beverly Hills, in the United States.

A San Diego judge ordered a mental competency hearing for Peter Robbins, who as a child played the voice of cartoon character Charlie Brown, after a series of strange and obscene outbursts during a hearing on Friday.
Robbins, 58, was taken into custody for probation violations in February after police were called repeatedly to the mobile home park where he has been living, and found he had cut off his electronic monitor and was using drugs and alcohol, authorities said.
On Friday, at a hearing to determine whether he would go back to jail for probation violations, Robbins shouted at Judge Robert O'Neill and repeatedly swore at the judge, Deputy District Attorney Brenda Daly and his own attorney.
Robbins was 9 years old in 1965 when he became the voice of the world-weary yet optimistic title character of "A Charlie Brown Christmas," a holiday classic and the first of many animated TV specials based on the popular "Peanuts" comic strip by Charles Schulz.
The actor went on to voice Charlie Brown in "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown," "You're In Love, Charlie Brown" and "A Boy Named Charlie Brown," which aired in the 1960s. He was replaced in later versions of the animated specials.
In Steve Reinboldt's 1970 high school yearbook, wrestling coach Dennis Hastert (R-Sweaty Wrestler™) wrote that Steve was his "great, right hand man" as the student equipment manager of the Yorkville, Illinois wrestling team.
But Steve was also a victim of sexual abuse at the hands of Hastert, Steve's sister said today in an interview with ABC News. It is the first time an alleged Hastert victim has been identified by name since his indictment for lying to the FBI and violating federal banking laws to cover-up past misconduct. Hastert, due in court next week, has not responded to the allegations.
In an emotional interview, Steve Reinbodlt's sister Jolene said she first learned of her brother's purported years-long sexual abuse at the hands of the future Speaker of the House back in 1979 when her older brother revealed to her that he was gay and had been out of high school for eight years.
"I asked him, when was your first same sex experience. He looked at me and said, 'It was with Dennis Hastert,'" Jolene said. "I was stunned."
Jolene said that Steve told her the abuse lasted throughout Steve's four years of high school as he served as team student manager. "Mr. Hastert had plenty of opportunities to be alone with Steve, because he was there before the meets," she said. "He was there after everything because he did the laundry, the uniforms. So he was there by himself with him," she added.

More than a dozen federal agents on Thursday raided a campaign office in Junction City, Illinois, used by former U.S. Representative Aaron Schock (R-Interior Decorator), the Peoria Journal Star reported.
The Illinois Republican earlier this year stepped down from his seat in Congress following questions about misspending and inappropriate expense reimbursements.
The agents, including those with an FBI evidence response team, removed boxes from the office that were loaded into two trucks. Officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation were not immediately available to comment.
Schock, a 34-year-old who has gained national attention for his Capitol Hill office lavishly decorated in the style of the television series "Downton Abbey," was elected in 2008.

In a victory for Native American tribes, an appeals court ruled Thursday that states cannot use negotiations for a Native American casino to challenge the federal government's decisions to recognize a tribe and set aside land for it.
An 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said states have to use a separate process to contest those decisions and have a window of six years to file their challenge.
The decision removes the uncertainty many tribes faced about their land status after a smaller 9th Circuit panel reached a different conclusion, said Joe Webster, a partner with the Washington, D.C.-based law firm of Hobbs Straus Dean & Walker who was closely watching the case.
The ruling came in a fight between California and the Humboldt County-based Big Lagoon Rancheria over the tribe's plan for a Las Vegas-style casino.

A federal appeals court ruled Friday that people from the South Pacific islands of American Samoa do not have a right to U.S. citizenship simply because they were born in the U.S. territory.
The ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit preserves federal laws that make those born in American Samoa U.S. nationals, but not citizens like people born in Puerto Rico and other territories.
Writing for a three-judge panel, Judge Janice Rogers Brown said the Constitution's 14th Amendment does not automatically extend birthright citizenship to the nation's unincorporated political territories.
Brown also said the court was reluctant to "impose citizenship over the objections of the American Samoan people themselves, as expressed through their democratically elected representatives."
People born in American Samoa must leave the territory and live in a U.S. state for at least three months to apply for naturalization. Many complain that the inconvenience and expense of the process prevents them from pursuing citizenship.

The first effort of its kind to prevent wild horses roaming the Navajo Nation in the U.S. Southwest from being sent to slaughter in Mexico has gained the preliminary approval of tribal leaders, former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (D-Good Guy) said on Thursday.
Under a draft agreement that still must be reviewed by the tribe, a foundation established by Richardson and actor Robert Redford would provide funds and expertise to the Navajo Nation to halt reservation roundups that have seen thousands of wild horses shipped to slaughterhouses in Mexico.
The impact of intensive grazing by wild horses in a high-desert reservation that spans more than 27,000 square miles (70,000 square km) of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah has been compounded by drought and led to competition with livestock for sparse vegetation, said Rick Abasta, spokesman for Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye.
The issue has divided a tribal nation whose economy relies in part on free-range cattle and sheep but which also reveres horses.
Four clouded leopard cubs, some nearly asleep after a feeding, gather together at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Friday, June 5, 2015 in Tacoma, Wash. The quadruplets were born on May 12, 2015 and now weigh about 1.7 lbs. each. Friday was their first official day on display for public viewing, usually during their every-four-hours bottle-feeding sessions, which were started after the cubs' mother did not show enough interest in continuing to nurse them.
