M Is FOR MASHUP - December 7th, 2016
8 Volumes of Frikkenfrack - Too Much?
By DJ Useo
When I first discovered people were making mashups, there were "normal" tracks, & there were strange ones as well. I made both kinds right off the bat. Through the ensuing years, it became clear that the strange ones were way more popular.
Still, I've always posted both kinds. Usually, I post the strange ones at my
Hulkshareaccount
& the normal ones at my newest hosting,
Sowndhaus
( sowndhaus.com/index.php?a=profile&u=djuseo ).
To this day, no normal track has ever got more listeners than it's weird counterpart. It's an interesting phenomenon, isn't it? You can see why I make the bizarre little bootlegs I do. They're the ones you most request!
In addition, weird mashups are the standard for the CRUMPLBANGERS mashup group, which I often frequent. I performed a live set at the last CRUMPLSTOCK 3 Day Online DJ Festival, & mixed up a large batch of unreleased novelty mashups just for my set. They went over well, so they're now available as single tracks on this veryFrikkenfrack 8 collection, along with many of the popular released tracks of the past year.
"Frikkenfrack 8 : DJ Useos Strangest Mashups" is available from now from mirror links found on
my blog here
( groovytimewithdjuseo.blogspot.com/2016/12/frikkenfrack-8-dj-useos-strangest.html )
- Have a quick gander at the back cover playlist. It's a total hoot!
No doubt this series will continue. You've made it clear you want more. & more you shall have.

Addresses Breitbart
Weather Channel
The Weather Channel typically sticks to reporting on science and weather, but it waded into politics on Tuesday, after climate skeptics had appropriated its work and presented it in a context that the channel considers incorrect and irresponsible.
In an editorial posted to Weather.com, the Weather Channel singled out last week's Breitbart "News" article, headed "Global Temperatures Plunge. Icy Silence from Climate Alarmists." The gist of the column on Breitbart, an alt-right-wing news site whose former executive chair, Steve Bannon (R-Anti-Semite), is now working with President-elect Donald Trump (R-Con Man), was that global land temperatures have dropped by one degree Celsius since the middle of this year and that this has been greeted with silence by media outlets that are supposedly pushing an "alarmist narrative."
Much to the Weather Channel's chagrin, one of its videos - "La Niña in Pacific Affects Weather in New England" - was plastered prominently above the text.
According to the Weather Channel, the Breitbart column is "a prime example of cherry-picking," in which a single item is taken out of context to build a misleading case. The article later attracted even more attention after the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology somewhat inexplicably shared it on Twitter.

Removal Of Extremist Content
Web Giants
Web giants YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Microsoft will step up efforts to remove extremist content from their websites by creating a common database.
The companies will share 'hashes' - unique digital fingerprints they automatically assign to videos or photos - of extremist content they have removed from their websites to enable their peers to identify the same content on their platforms.
Tech companies have long resisted outside intervention in how their sites should be policed, but have come under increasing pressure from Western governments to do more to remove extremist content following a wave of militant attacks.
YouTube and Facebook have begun to use hashes to automatically remove extremist content.
Each company will decide what image and video hashes to add to the database and matching content will not be automatically removed, they said.

Caribou and Monarch Butterfly "Endangered"
Canada
Canada's caribou population has reached "all-time low" levels, particularly in the eastern Arctic, where the animal was classified as endangered Monday along with the monarch butterfly, according to a committee of scientific experts.
"Caribou are, sadly, very sensitive to human disturbances, and we are disturbing caribou more and more," Justina Ray said in a report by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (Cosewic).
Cosewic studied two populations of caribou: the tundra herd -- which it considers "threatened" -- and the rarer Torngat Mountain caribou in far northeastern Canada, which it assessed at an even higher risk -- "endangered." The latter is facing "imminent" destruction or extinction.
The causes of the caribou's decline include encroachment of its habitat by forestry and mining, and global warming, which is more pronounced in the Arctic.
Cosewic also classified the monarch butterfly, another migratory species, as endangered. The committee said that the "remarkably tiny wintering grounds where monarchs congregate continue to be chipped away by habitat loss."

Cutting Jobs In Restructuring
SeaWorld
SeaWorld Entertainment Inc. is eliminating 320 jobs across its 12-park company.
Company officials said Tuesday in a statement that the goal of the restructuring is to eliminate costs and improve the company's operations.
The job eliminations involve both salaried and hourly workers.
SeaWorld's attendance and revenue have suffered in the face of a campaign by animal-rights activists.

Vanishes In Record Heat
Polar Sea Ice
Sea ice off Antarctica and in the Arctic is at record lows for this time of year after declining by twice the size of Alaska in a sign of rising global temperatures, climate scientists say.
Against a trend of global warming and a steady retreat of ice at earth's northern tip, ice floating on the Southern Ocean off Antarctica has tended to expand in recent years.
But now it is shrinking at both ends of the planet, a development alarming scientists and to which a build-up of man-made greenhouse gases, an El Nino weather event that this year unlocked heat from the Pacific Ocean and freak natural swings may all be contributing.
"There are some really crazy things going on," said Mark Serreze, director of the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado, saying temperatures in parts of the Arctic were 20 degrees Celsius (36°F) above normal some days in November.

Spread Conspiracies
Flynn Jr.
Michael Flynn Jr., the son of incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn who helped spread the so-called Pizzagate conspiracy, has no involvement in President-elect Donald Trump's transition, Vice President-elect Mike Pence (R-Spokesliar) said on Tuesday.
"Gen. Flynn's son has no involvement in the transition whatsoever," Pence said on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Tuesday.
Pence admitted later Tuesday afternoon that he had understated the son's role. During a somewhat tense CNN interview, anchor Jake Tapper repeatedly pressed Pence as to whether he was aware that the transition had asked for Flynn Jr. to receive a security clearance.
"I said this morning that his son had no involvement in the transition, but I have talked to Gen. Flynn," Pence said. "His son was helping him a bit with scheduling and administrative items. But that's no longer the case."
Both Flynns have used their social media accounts to spread false news stories about the Clintons.
On Nov. 2, the elder Flynn shared a fake news story linking Clinton to sex crimes with minors, falsely stating that the NYPD was close to bringing charges against the Democratic nominee.

'Who Cares?'
House Speaker
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-1%) says he doesn't care that Donald Trump (R-Grifter) continues to tweet outlandish claims as president-elect as long as Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress get things done when he's in the Oval Office.
"That's what's going to matter at the end of the day," Ryan said in an interview that aired on CBS' "60 Minutes" Sunday. "Did we improve people's lives? Did we solve the problems that the American people need solved? Are we addressing the concerns of people who are tired of being tired? And who cares what he tweeted, you know, on some Thursday night, if we fix this country's big problems? That's just the way I look at this."
According to Ryan, Trump's tweets are his way of "giving voice to a lot of people who have felt that they were voiceless."
"He's communicating with people in this country who've felt like they have not been listened to," Ryan said. "He's going to be an unconventional president. I really think we have a great opportunity in front of us to fix problems, produce results and improve people's lives. That's why we're here in the first place."

Senate Agenda In 2017
Obamacare
Repealing Obamacare will be the first order of business in the U.S. Senate in January, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican, said on Tuesday.
Republicans will replace President Barack Obama's signature health insurance program that provides coverage to millions of Americans "step by step," said Senator John Thune, another member of the Republican leadership.
McConnell did not say when the repeal of the Affordable Care Act, as it is officially known, would go into effect. Senator John Barrasso said it might be effective in two or three years, and that the timeframe was still being debated.
Donald Trump's election as U.S. president last month means Republicans will control the White House, Senate and House of Representatives in 2017. The new Congress opens on Jan. 3; Trump will be sworn in on Jan. 20.
To repeal Obamacare, congressional Republicans are expected to resort to a special procedure known as budget reconciliation to get around Democrats in the Senate, where rules protect the rights of the minority party.

Peter Vaughan
Veteran British character actor Peter Vaughan, who played the enigmatic Maester Aemon in "Game of Thrones," has died aged 93.
Vaughan's face - if not his name - was familiar to generations of television viewers in Britain and around the world. His best-known roles included criminal Harry Grout in 1970s prison sitcom "Porridge."
Film appearances included "The Naked Runner," opposite Frank Sinatra, and "The French Lieutenant's Woman."
Like many British actors, he gained wider fame through HBO's "Game of Thrones." Vaughan played blind scholar Maester Aemon on the hit fantasy series.
Born Peter Ohm in the central England county of Shropshire, Vaughan was married first to the late actress Billie Whitelaw, and then to Lillias Walker, who survives him.

Van Williams
Van Williams, star of the 1966 TV show "The Green Hornet," died last Monday in Scottsdale, Ariz., of renal failure. He was 82.
Williams was a diving instructor in Hawaii when he was discovered in 1957 by producer Mike Todd, who was married to Elizabeth Taylor at the time. Williams was persuaded to come to Hollywood and try his hand at acting, and earned his big break on the ABC private detective show "Bourbon Street Beat." He played Ken Madison, a character he later recycled for another detective show, "Surfside 6."
In 1966, Williams signed a deal with 20th Century Fox to star in "The Green Hornet" as both the titular masked crusader and his newspaper editor alter ego, Britt Reid. He was ably supported by his martial arts master sidekick Kato, played by Bruce Lee, and by his weaponized car, Black Beauty. Williams played the role straight, signaling a departure from the lampoon comedy of Fox's earlier "Batman" series.
Williams appeared in iconic shows such as "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show," as well as in the young adult-targeted "Westwind," which centered around the adventures of the Andrews family who sailed around the world on a yacht.
After his acting career dropped off in the late 1970s, Williams became a reserve deputy sheriff and a volunteer fire fighter at the Malibu station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Actress Pat Priest ("The Munsters"), Williams' longtime friend and neighbor, said Williams was her mentor.
Williams is survived by his wife, Vicki; three children, Nina, Tia, and Britt; and five grandchildren.
