Mix Of The Week
BUDTHEWEISER, the long mix legend strikes again with an actual 64 minute long mix of the 'ZOOT BOOTS Vol. 1' album mentioned above. It's hard enough to imagine the album got made at all, given the eclectic musical styles, but BTW actually drops them in one session & has it sizzling.
Listen here to 'Zoot Boots Vol.1 mix'.

Mashup Tip
Never mix on an empty stomach. It adds too much treble.

Says Fox Is 'Making Up' His Apology
Tom Ricks
Award-winning Foreign Policy blogger/reporter Tom Ricks says Fox News is "making it up" when it claims he apologized for going on the network live and saying its coverage of Benghazi was hyped because it was operating as a wing of the GOP. Ricks gave Politico's Mackenzie Weinger the email he sent Fox News vice president Michael Clemente - who claimed Ricks apologized - and thus essentially provided a timeline of events. We now shall exhaustively break out that timeline.
Monday, 11:15a.m.: Ricks goes on Fox and says Fox is full of it.
11:16:30a.m.: Anchor ends the interview after about 1.5 minutes.
Moments later: Ricks runs into Fox reporter Brett Baier. "He asked if I was serious in saying that Fox had hyped Bengahzi, and I said I was," Ricks said in his email to Clemente. "We discussed that. It was a cordial exchange."
And then: "Later, as I was leaving, the booker or producer (I am not sure what her title was) said she thought I had been rude," Ricks writes. "I said I might have been a bit snappish because I am tired of book tour. This was in no way an apology but rather an explanation of why I jumped a bit when the anchor began the segment with the assertion that pressure on the White House was building-which it most clearly was not."

Sandy No Coincidence
UN Climate Scientist
Though it's tricky to link a single weather event to climate change, Hurricane Sandy was "probably not a coincidence" but an example of the extreme weather events that are likely to strike the U.S. more often as the world gets warmer, the U.N. climate panel's No. 2 scientist said Tuesday.
Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, the vice chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, predicted that as stronger and more frequent heat waves and storms become part of life, people will stop asking whether global warming played a role.
"The new question should probably progressively become: Is it possible that climate warming has not influenced this particular event?" he told The Associated Press in an interview on the sidelines of U.N. climate negotiations in Qatar.
Ypersele's remarks come as global warming has re-emerged as an issue in Washington following the devastating superstorm - a rarity for the U.S. Northeast - and an election that led to Democratic gains.
After years of disagreement, climate scientists and hurricane experts have concluded that as the climate warms, there will be fewer total hurricanes. But those storms that do develop will be stronger and wetter.

Disbursements To Begin
Elouise Cobell
After nearly 17 years of courtroom arguments, congressional negotiations and Indian Country bickering, hundreds of thousands of Native Americans could see the first payments of a $3.4 billion U.S. government settlement by the end of the year, plaintiffs' attorneys said Monday.
The settlement between American Indians across the nation and the government over more than a century's worth of squandered and mismanaged land trust royalties became final on Friday, when the appeal period expired.
One of the largest U.S. government settlements in history began with a lawsuit filed in 1996 by Elouise Cobell of Browning, Mont. The Blackfeet leader observed that those who leased Indian land made money from its natural resources, while the Indians themselves remained in poverty with no accounting of the royalties from that land that were held in trust for them by the government
Cobell herself led the fight against the government for more than 15 years before she died of cancer last year.

Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame
'Hoosiers'
The Indiana natives who created the basketball move "Hoosiers" are being inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.
Organizers announced Tuesday that director David Anspaugh and screenplay writer Angelo Pizzo will be inducted in March as recipients of the St. Vincent Health Silver Medal for contributions to Indiana high school basketball other than as a player or coach.
The 1986 movie is loosely based on the 1954 state championship team from tiny Milan High School and often tops lists of best all-time sports films. Anspaugh grew up in Decatur and Pizzo is from Bloomington. They also collaborated on the Notre Dame football movie "Rudy."

Vehicular Homicide
Amy Locane-Bovenizer
Jurors in New Jersey have convicted a former "Melrose Place" actress of vehicular homicide.
The Star-Ledger of Newark reports the panel on Tuesday also acquitted Amy Locane-Bovenizer of a more serious charge, aggravated manslaughter, in the 2010 accident that killed a 60-year-old woman.
Somerset County prosecutors said Locane-Bovenizer's blood-alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit when the crash occurred on a dark two-lane road in Montgomery Township.
The defense conceded she was driving under the influence. But her lawyer claimed a woman was chasing her after an earlier accident, forcing her to speed.

Number 3...
Elmo
The puppeteer formerly behind the "Sesame Street" character Elmo faces a new accusation of having sex with an underage boy, a week after a similar allegation prompted him to resign from the iconic public television children's program.
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, a man identified only as John alleges Kevin Clash engaged in oral sex and other sex acts with him when John was 16 years old. The suit seeks at least $75,000 in damages.
The suit alleges the incident occurred in either 2000 or 2001 when John, who is from Florida, visited New York for modeling opportunities. John came to know Clash, then 40, through a telephone chat line for gays on which Clash claimed to be a 30-year-old named Craig, according to the suit.
John returned to New York when he turned 18, and he and Clash renewed the relationship, the lawsuit said.

Off Radio
Laura Ingraham
Radio talk show host Laura Ingraham (R-Token) is off the air - at least temporarily.
She said Tuesday that she's leaving her distributor, Talk Radio Network, after more than nine years because her contract is up. Ingraham said she is in discussions with other distributors about her show, which currently airs on 325 stations nationally.
Talkers magazine says the conservative Ingraham is the most-listened to woman on radio, with an estimated 5.75 million listeners a week. Talkers said that ranks her among the top eight radio hosts overall.
In the meantime, she said she'll keep her opinions flowing on her website, on Twitter and during Fox News Channel appearances.

Sued Again
Katt Williams
Comic Katt Williams is being sued over his onstage meltdown and aborted performance in Oakland.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports it's the second Alameda County lawsuit filed over Williams' bizarre 10 minutes on stage earlier this month at Oakland's Oracle Arena.
The suit filed by 35-year-old Brian Herline, of Modesto, says he and hundreds of fans were disappointed when Williams took off his clothes and challenged people to fight.
Herline is seeking class-action certification in an effort to get ticket money back for all audience members.

Judge Bows Out
'Pink Slime'
A federal judge has recused himself from presiding over a $1.2 billion defamation lawsuit against ABC because his daughter-in-law works as a producer on one of the network's morning shows.
Judge Lawrence L. Piersol recused himself from hearing the defamation lawsuit filed by South Dakota-based Beef Products Inc. against ABC because his daughter-in-law works as a producer on "Good Morning America."
The case has been reassigned to Chief Judge Karen Schreier.
Beef Products Inc. sued ABC in September over its coverage of a meat product called lean, finely textured beef. Critics have dubbed the product "pink slime." The meat processor claims the network damaged the company by misleading consumers into believing the product is unhealthy and unsafe.

Settle Cases
Black Keys
The Black Keys told a federal judge the band has settled copyright infringement lawsuits against Pizza Hut and The Home Depot claiming misuse of their music in commercials.
The band alleged the song "Lonely Boy" was improperly used to sell power tools, and "Gold on the Ceiling" to sell pizza.
The Grammy-winning band sued in June and both companies denied copying the songs.
Attorneys for the band informed a federal judge in Los Angeles of the Pizza Hut settlement on Monday. The settlement agreement with The Home Depot was reached earlier this month.

Found In Minnesota
Moon Rocks
Several rocks taken from humankind's first lunar landing have been unearthed once again, with the moon rocks this time turning up in a Minnesota storage area.
The Star Tribune reports that the pebble-sized samples collected by the Apollo 11 voyage in 1969 somehow ended up in a government storage area in St. Paul.
"The Apollo 11 moon rocks were found amongst military artifacts in a storage area at the Veterans Service Building in St. Paul," Army Maj. Blane Iffert, the former state historian for the Minnesota National Guard, told the paper. "When I searched the Internet to find additional information about the moon rocks, I knew we had to find a better means to display this artifact."
Each state was given a sample of the moon rocks after Apollo 11's successful voyage.
Reportedly, 180 of the 270 Goodwill Moon Rock samples former President Nixon gave to the 50 states after the Apollo 11 and 17 missions are currently unaccounted for.

'Sexiest Man Alive'
Kim Jong Un
Bradley Cooper. Channing Tatum. Kim Jong Un? Not to be outdone by People's annual ode to chiseled abs, The Onion nominated North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un this year's "Sexiest Man Alive." Unfortunately, not everyone was in on the spoof, namely China's largest Communist Party newspaper, The People's Daily, which not only took the bait but splashed a 55-page slideshow dedicated to the boyish leader across its homepage.
"The U.S. website The Onion has named North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un as the "Sexiest Man Alive for the year 2012," writes the People's Daily, underneath a cover photo of Kim majestically atop a horse.
The People's Daily quotes The Onion, saying:
With his devastatingly handsome, round face, his boyish charm, and his strong, sturdy frame, this Pyongyang-bred heartthrob is every woman's dream come true. Blessed with an air of power that masks an unmistakable cute, cuddly side, Kim made this newspaper's editorial board swoon with his impeccable fashion sense, chic short hairstyle, and, of course, that famous smile.
