The Big LAFF 2 Mashup Reveal
By DJ Useo
So, like, last week I told you about the new IT IS 2 LAFF [ groovytimewithdjuseo.blogspot.com/2009/11/it-is-2-laff-funny-mashup-collection.html ]
funny mashup collection with 19 rib-tickling,pleasure-inducing tracks by a large handful of well-known bootleggers. I held off telling you the actual dj names, however & only teased you with the fake names they made up for the release. It's a little risky withholding the true identities. There's always the chance it might impact on the download numbers if you think the track is by Crystal Meth instead of
FUNKTHATSHIT
[ funkthatshit.multiply.com/ ],who actually made the track. Clearly though, it's fun to tease you with made-up parody names like McSlimey & Soulwhacker (they're spoofing beloved bootleggers McSleazy & Soulwax.) Well, this year the fake names seemed a swell inducement for many to listen further. I haven't seen such large download numbers from a project since SUMMER BOOTY 2009! Each day this last week I'd check the hosting & be shocked as it rushed towards 200 gigs of downloads. I might even require a mirror link or 2 if it keeps up.
Well, the real credit for this humourous success goes to everybody on the record. They all took time away from mixing the regular gems like '
Save Esteem' (The Offspring vs Eagle Eye Cherry)
&
'Love Europe2 Mix'(Public Image Limited vs Arno vs Laam)
[ djleclown.free.fr/index.html ]
that are surefire hits all around the net to take a chance with a funny track that is not their normal forte. The great news is the risk paid off well with many new people being exposed to their mixing abilities. I just hope people realize that for the most part this was a big departure in style for the contributors. Only a few of us ever post this type of mashup. I make silly, weird tracks all the time, but for the most part I don't post them. If you want to hear crazy mashups from me you have to listen to my hour-long radio program
THE QRADIPS SHOW [
qradip.blogspot.com/ ]
which is chock-full of nuttiness like 'Oi! It's So Pogo' (2 Live Jews vs Digitalism), 'Crazy Balls' (South Park's Chef vs Team Radio) & 'The Brandenburg Happening' (The Supremes vs Bach). In a fit of LAFF 2-inspired madness, I did go ahead & post a double a-side of '
Black Metal Introduction 2009' (Mongoloid Gnome vs National Whippeter) & 'Were Off To Go A Metaling' (Mongoloid Gnome vs National Whippeter) [
groovytimewithdjuseo.blogspot.com/2009/10/mongoloid-gnome-vs-national-whippeter-2.html ]. If you ever hear stranger,more-crazed mashups let me know & I'll eat a bug!
Now, enough stalling. I realize you people who enjoyed the LAFF 2 comp want to know who made those whacked-out tracks, & you already patiently waited an entire week. (That's 7 months in sea-monkey years) Get ready now to scan the list of actual contributors' names. I'll post the real names next to the fake names now. Make sure you aren't drinking milk or you'll be spraying it out of your nose like a fountain having an orgasm. Here you goooooo!!!!!!!!-------
01 - G3Rst - Bringer Of Cheese
02 - MP3J - Mean Mister Mustard
03 - Hibrid - Arachno-Singe
04 - Voicedude - SpongeMike SquareGlove
05 - RIAA - Mandatory Bowel Evacuation
06 - MadMixMustang - DJ Bootiestein
07 - MaxwellJump - DJ Bag Arse
08 - DJ Le Clown - Dick Sinormous
09 - DJ Prince - DJ TBA
10 - DJ Newlight - DJ Getalife
11 - Acafreak - Mash Puppies
12 - Budtheweiser - Mr Jefferson
13 - DJSpider - DJ Peter Parker
14 - DJ Useo - Frostedo Flakeo
15 - DJ MashUp - Wally Bood
16 - Dylan Vasey - DJ Benny Hill
17 - DJ Useo - (see above)
18 - Actual Name Withheld - aww!
19 - Actual Name Withheld Also-shucks!
Now that's an excellent assemblage of mixing talent. I'm not going to clutter this column up with links for everybody, but if you want to enjoy more mashed satisfaction, do a quick exploration with your favorite search engine & you'll be awash in wonderfully inventive mashups from eager-to-please DJ's. I got'ta offer big congrats to all of you who allowed me to feature you on this release. Thanks for indulging my madness. Now,if you've heard this record & are in a position to clear the copyrights, please contact me so we can release this collection properly with a label & rake in the dough! There must be somebody out there who wants to pad their bank account. When a bootleg complilation does this great it's a sure sign of a money-maker. I long for the days when novelty tunes like Allen Sherman's 'Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh' were right there in the charts alongside the regular hits like Sammy Davis, Jr.'s 'The Candyman'. Well, maybe that's not the best example. Rofl.
Now for the 'piece of resistance' (lol) the videos! So far there's 3 videos with at least 2 more soon.
Voicedude - Don't Stop The Best Day Ever! (Michael Jackson vs Spongebob Squarepants)
DJ MashUp - Dont Cha Belong With Me (Taylor Swift vs Pussycat Dolls feat. Busta Rhymes)
DJ Le CLown - Austin Bootleg (Quincy Jones vs Peaches vs Mike Myers)
Thanks for giving my little mashup project a chance. We'll be sure & do IT IS TO LAFF 3 soon. Also, IT IS TO LAFF from 2008 is newly remastered here -
groovytimewithdjuseo.blogspot.com/2009/11/it-is-to-laff-2008-remastered.html
Budtheweiser's 'The Laff Your Ass Off Mix' [ theinstituteofbootleggers.blogspot.com/2009/11/budtheweisers-laff-your-ass-off-mix.html ] does the seemingly impossible service of mixing the entire LAFF 2 comp into one damn fine mix. Check out his incredible performance bringing all those crazy tracks together into one of the most impressive mixes I've heard lately.

I'm a big fan of Surrealistic Pillow, and "Somebody to Love".
I was slightly off put when Rabbi Marshak misquoted the lyrics,
"....and all the hope within you dies..." but figured he was doing
that deliberately. Oh, rabbis are deep.
I'm happy Bill Thompson appreciated its inclusion in the two movies.

I'm still amused at how Taking Woodstock and A Serious

P.S. You gave Taking Woodstock 5 out of 10. Translated to

overall opinion is similar.

Launches Channel For Citizen Journalists
The YouTubes
Celebrities beware: YouTube is making it even easier for anyone with a camera phone to turn your behavior -- be it mundane or sensational -- into news.
The world's top purveyor of Internet video has launched YouTube Direct, whereby TV and online news editors can obtain video from so-called "citizen journalists" -- and even request such video be shot by amateurs seeking attention.
It's not entirely about celebrities, of course. Many news outlets will be seeking disaster footage, for example, or rowdy behavior at political town hall meetings.
News outlets seeking footage can announce it in a variety of ways, including via call-out videos posted at YouTube. When a YouTube user has video they think will interest the mainstream media, it can make it easy for editors, producers and journalists to contact them.

Time Warner To Spin Off
AOL
Media conglomerate Time Warner Inc said on Monday it will spin off its AOL unit to shareholders on December 9, nine tumultuous years after one of the most disastrous corporate mergers in history.
Time Warner shareholders of record on November 27 will receive an AOL stock dividend for every 11 shares of Time Warner common stock they hold
Based on the closing price of Time Warner's stock at $32.35 and its 1.17 billion outstanding shares, the ratio would effectively value AOL's market capitalization at around $3.44 billion.
When AOL's plan to merge with Time Warner was announced in January 2000, the Internet company was valued at $163 billion.

NBC Behind In Ad Sales
Winter Olympics
With fewer than 90 days left before the Winter Olympics launch in Vancouver, NBC Universal still has a solid chunk of commercial spots left to sell.
And while the ad marketplace has begun showing signs of life in the past few weeks, the company faces an uphill climb if it is to hit its volume target.
According to media agency estimates, NBC Universal must still move 30%-35% of its inventory if things are to be wrapped by the time the first athlete points his skis down the jump at Whistler Olympic Park.
Four years ago, sponsors of NBC's Winter Olympics telecast paid $500,000-$700,000 per 20-second spot, and an ad in the 2010 Games could fetch as much as $800,000. That said, media buyers suggested that NBC is now much more flexible on pricing.

Wedding News?
Danny Glover
"Lethal Weapon" co-star Danny Glover is to marry his longtime Brazilian girlfriend in a December, he told a Rio de Janeiro film festival this week, according to the O Globo newspaper.
Glover, 63, said he and teacher Eliane Cavalleiro, 43, would seek to live together afterwards in the United States, "but that's not definitive."
"We can live here and there. All I know is that I want to be with her. We'll see how the logistics work out," he told the festival on Monday.
Glover met Cavalleiro in 2003 when he attended the World Social Forum in the southern Brazilian city of Porto Alegre.

Plagiarism Suit Tossed
Elisabeth Hasselbeck
A federal judge in Massachusetts has dismissed a lawsuit accusing television personality Elisabeth Hasselbeck of plagiarism.
A federal lawsuit accused the co-host of ABC's "The View" of lifting content from a book written by self-published Cape Cod author Susan Hassett on the digestive disorder celiac disease. Hasselbeck's book was called "The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide" and appeared on best-seller lists this year.
U.S. District Judge Joseph Tauro dismissed the lawsuit last week after Hassett's attorney declined to pursue it. The dismissal was first reported in the Boston Herald on Saturday.
Hassett lawyer Richard Cunha said Monday that while he still believes there were instances of plagiarism, he isn't sure they were egregious enough for his client to recover money damages.

Paparazzo Testifies
Parker-Broderick Case
A paparazzo testified Tuesday that an Ohio police chief told him he had access to ultrasound photographs belonging to the woman who carried twins for Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.
Justin Steffman of New York testified that suspended Martins Ferry Chief Barry Carpenter also said that he had access to a plaster cast of surrogate Michelle Ross' stomach, a contract between the woman and Parker and several documents.
A special prosecutor has said Carpenter entered Ross' home in Martins Ferry in May and removed items that identified her as the surrogate. He and Police Chief Chad Dojack from nearby Bridgeport are accused of scheming to sell the items.
Steffman said Dojack offered to sell him the surrogate's address and contact information for $1,000. He said he met Carpenter in a post office parking lot, when the chief showed him a cell-phone photo of the cast.

German Surrenders
Edis Kayalar
A German man wanted for trying to extort $100,000 from former supermodel Cindy Crawford over a photo of her daughter has surrendered to authorities, Bild newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Edis Kayalar, 26, gave himself up to police in the southwestern town of Nuertingen on Monday evening. Police then searched his apartment in the nearby town of Wendlingen.
Kayalar was arrested in September and deported to Germany for being in the United States illegally. But earlier this month he again phoned Crawford and Gerber and demanded $100,000, which led to him being charged with extortion.
Kayalar faces up to two years in prison if returned to the United States and convicted.

Not So Good Neighbor
Rotting Deer
Hundreds of rotting deer carcasses in a southwestern Pennsylvania yard are causing a stink among the neighbors. Randy Good of North Buffalo Township has a contract with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to remove the animal carcasses from roads in five counties.
Good says he has been picking up 50 to 100 carcasses a day. To cope with demand, he has been dumping a few hundred at a time in his yard. He says weekend landfill closures and a broken truck have worsened the backlog.
Neighbors a half-mile away say they have resorted to burning candles in their homes to mask the stench.
Good says he has gotten a trash container that will help, but it will take a week or two to remove them all.

New Signs For Burkittsville
'Blair Witch'
The small Maryland town where "The Blair Witch Project" was set has some new welcome signs. Please don't steal them.
The new signs have little resemblance to the older-style black-and-white signs with cursive script shown briefly in the hit 1999 horror film. Souvenir seekers repeatedly stole those.
The new sign is blue with white letters and red stars. It notes that the town of fewer than 200 people was established in 1824 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Mayor Debby Burgoyne tells The Frederick News-Post she hopes thieves won't be interested in the newer-looking signs.

In Memory
Ken Ober
Ken Ober, who hosted the 1980s MTV game show "Remote Control" and helped produce the shows "Mind of Mencia" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine," has died. He was 52.
His agent, Lee Kernis, says Ober was found dead Sunday in his Santa Monica home. Kernis says Ober complained of headaches and flu-like symptoms on Saturday night but the cause of his death wasn't clear.
Ober hosted five seasons of "Remote Control" beginning in 1987. Contestants in lounge chairs were asked pop-culture questions from categories such as "Dead or Canadian?" The show featured early appearances by comedians Adam Sandler, Denis Leary and Colin Quinn.
Ober, who was born Ken Oberding in Massachusetts, is survived by his parents and a brother.
