Phil RetroSpector's Intro/Version Of Events
By Count Konrad Useo
Picture a mansion just like many other mansions. Countless bedrooms, halls, kitchens, pools & large grounds filled to the brim with expensive furniture & artwork. Maids & butlers hustling to & fro maintaining the latest clothes & electronics. A man awakes & moves towards a laptop. This scene could be occuring in numerous locations, but then one thing happens that makes it unique. The man directs cutting & looping on a mixing application & suddenly the room fills with a new bootleg mix by
Phil RetroSpector. At that point magic reawakens in our lives. Birds sing with a sweeter voice. Flowers bloom with a brighter hue. Downloads hum with a tweaker tone. The newest King of Mashups rules with a firm hand, & mixes with a quick mind. Phil is that hand. RetroSpector is that mind.
Of course you're all familiar with
Phil RetroSpector's new bootleg collection
INTRO/VERSION. The red hot release is composed from selected Phil RetroSpector tracks of the last year. The album draws most of it's appeal from the fourteen previously released singles, yet what true fan of Phil could pass up the two unreleased numbers? 'Losing my Breath' (REM vs Sia vs Emiliyan Stankov) puts an entirely new twist on already-excellent pop gems. 'Polly-G' (Nirvana vs Bon Iver vs Scott Mathews vs Wings vs Lippok & Martini) contains 100 % pure pop hook power sufficient to satisfy the most snobbish mashup afficienado. Those new unreleased mixes are literally the icing with the nourishing, filling of fourteen reprises underneath working as a satisfying cake.
As you know,
Phil RetroSpector mines the finest areas of music through his dipping back to the past of pop to his current employment of newly charting artists. In a RetroSpector mix you might witness a Nancy Sinatra, a Johnny Cash, or a Leonard Cohen, whilst simultaneously hearing a Coldplay, a Sigur Ros, or an Amy Winehouse. Phil's tracks have appeared to widespread acclaim on such mashup compilations as MASHUP-INDUSTRIES' CAFE DEL MASH , 1086 PRODUCTION'S MASHED IN PLASTIC, & AudioPornCentral's GUILTY PLEASURES vol.5-BOOTLEGPROOF.
He maintains his strong appeal at
youtube through his frequent posting of new videos to accompany his tracks. You haven't had the full RetroSpector experience till you hear & see his tracks at the same time. People know a good thing when it comes around & I've personally witnessed countless popular bootleggers themselves line up just to log-in & get the newest Phil RetroSpector links!

MORE HALLOWEEN MASHUPS!
I almost didn't have time to mention this new mashup collection as I only saw it right before deadline. Lucky for you, I had a feeling it was out. In the tradition of past compilations like 'THE BRIDE OF MONSTER MASHUP' The ingenious folks at MASHUP-INDUSTRIES bring you 'Mashed 'n' Slashed' - The Mashup Industries Halloween EP. No slight comp, this one. It contains seasonal tracks by peeps like DJ Clive$ter, Voicedude, LeeDM101 & Marc Johnce. More mixers lurk with a full nine tracks making this a scary-fying collection that will make your flesh crawl more than being soaked in liquid candy corn.
Leave a comment if you enjoy it. Find the ep here - ( www.mashup-industries.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=227&Itemid=37%22 ).
Mashup Tip - Hoist the pella fully before you fasten the joist hook.

Mr. Bradbury examined the textbook version and discovered that the editors had "censored some 75 separate sections from the novel."

Taboo At Gitmo
Noam Chomsky
Professor Noam Chomsky may be among America's most enduring anti-war activists. But the leftist intellectual's anthology of post 9/11 commentary is taboo at Guantánamo's prison camp library, which offers books and videos on Harry Potter, World Cup soccer and Islam.
U.S. military censors recently rejected a Pentagon lawyer's donation of an Arabic-language copy of the political activist and linguistic professor's 2007 anthology Interventions for the library, which has more than 16,000 items.
Chomsky, 80, who has been voicing disgust with U.S. foreign policy since the Vietnam War, reacted with irritation and derision. "This happens sometimes in totalitarian regimes,'' he told The Miami Herald by e-mail after learning of the decision.
"Of some incidental interest, perhaps, is the nature of the book they banned. It consists of op-eds written for The New York Times syndicate and distributed by them. The subversive rot must run very deep.''

Free Show In Berlin
U2
Achtung, baby: U2 will play a free concert in Berlin to help the city celebrate 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Music network MTV said the Irish rockers will perform in front of the Brandenburg Gate on Nov. 5 during the MTV Europe Music Awards
The show will be beamed into the awards ceremony at Berlin's O2 World arena.
The wall fell Nov. 9, 1989, ending almost 30 years of separation between east and west.

Visiting Cuba
Michael Douglas
Michael Douglas staged an impromptu walking tour of the Cuban capital's historic district Tuesday, posing for photos with construction workers and surprised residents.
His visit came two days after fellow Oscar-winner Sean Penn arrived in Cuba, reportedly seeking an interview with 82-year-old Fidel Castro, who has been little seen since announcing he was suffering from an unspecified illness in July 2006. He stepped down as Cuba's president in February of the following year and was replaced by his brother Raul.
Little was known about Douglas' plans for his four days in Cuba, but he was accompanied on his walk through Havana's old quarter by Patricia Rodriguez, an official at the city historian's office.
Among the sites he toured was a state-run tobacco shop, where employees showed the actor the finer points of rolling a Cuban cigar.

Windy Night
Craig Ferguson
"Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson had to finish taping his program by flashlight on Tuesday after high winds knocked out power at CBS Television City in central Los Angeles.
Show publicist Katie Barker says lights started dimming and then suddenly went black about 5:45 p.m. as Ferguson was interviewing actress Alicia Silverstone, leaving both in the dark as to what was going on.
Producers decided to keep the blackout as part of the show and handed Ferguson a flashlight.
With wind gusts reaching up to 70 mph, scattered power outages have been reported around the greater Los Angeles region.
Craig Ferguson
Yeah, let's not mention the battery and diesel-fueled generator back-ups, powering the cameras, the mics, the recording equipment. No, let's dumb it down & say they did it by flashlight.

Microsoft Exits As Sponsor
'Family Guy'
Fans of "Family Guy" are chortling about Microsoft's belated discovery that a "Family Guy" special might not jibe with the software giant's corporate image.
On Monday, Microsoft said it's pulling out as sponsor of a "Family Guy" variety show, just two weeks after announcing its sole sponsorship of the special, "Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show," scheduled to air Nov. 8.
The special stars "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane, who voices many of the characters, and Alex Borstein, who furnishes the voice of Peter Griffin's wife, Lois.
In the original announcement, the half-hour special was billed as a half-hour with no commercial breaks that blends "unique Windows 7-branded programming" seamlessly with "original animation, live-action performances of 'Family Guy's' most memorable musical numbers, comedy sketches and surprise celebrity guests."

Lawsuit Filed
Naomi Campbell
A cosmetics-marketing company claims in a New York lawsuit that Naomi Campbell didn't hand over its cut of the proceeds from a fragrance-licensing agreement.
The lawsuit says the supermodel violated a 1998 contract by leaving Moodform Mission out of a deal made within roughly the past year.
It says she stopped paying Moodform Mission its share of proceeds from scents it helped develop. Those include Naomi Campbell, Cat Deluxe and Seductive Elixir.
Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble Co., which sells the fragrances, did not immediately respond to messages Tuesday.

Examining Film Credits
Iowa
The Iowa attorney general's office is examining all of the roughly $32 million in tax credits awarded through a program designed to lure filmmakers to the state, a top official in the agency said Tuesday.
Eric Tabor, chief of staff to Attorney General Tom Miller, told a legislative committee that prosecutors are scrutinizing all awards from the Iowa Film Office since the Legislature enacted the incentive program in 2007.
Moviemakers have requested roughly $77 million in additional tax credits for Iowa productions, but those have been put on hold until an investigation is completed.
The examination was prompted by news of sloppy bookkeeping in the Iowa Film Office and questionable spending by some moviemakers who sought tax credits. Three officials in the Department of Economic Development have lost their jobs over the matter, and Gov. Chet Culver has suspended the program.

Putin's Bust

A bust of Russia's muscle-flexing strongman Vladimir Putin is being created as a gift for ex-Hollywood bodybuilder and California's current governor Arnold $chwarzenegger, its sculptor said Tuesday.
The bust is currently being made in Putin's home city of Saint Petersburg on an order of Russia's Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation and will be delivered to the movie star turned politician in March.
A passionate judo player, Putin is known for his own muscle-bound physique and in recent years has allowed himself to be photographed showing off his naked torso during holiday expeditions in the Russian wilderness.
