Mashup Forum collection is released. The 90s theme proved quite popular with the potential contributors resulting in three "discs" worth of new mixes. On this compilation, you'll discover 40 mashups by 20 bootleggers, each containing at least one 90s source artist. In a refection of the popular 90s styles, there are tracks on this that combine Rock, Pop, Rap, & more.
The skilled French bootlegger & Audioboots Super Moderator Chocomang helmed this new release. He did nearly everything solo while I rode out a fierce virus. His take on the details is mighty rewarding. For only one instance, Chocomang divided the tracks into three files. One is Dance, two is Rock, & three is Pop Rock and more. In addition to the audio files, you'll find many covers, text files, & whets. In the style of most mashup albums, there's no charge for the download. Truly a great bargain.
So many popular home producers dwell on this release, that it's no surprise the tracks give high thrills. When I got the final zip, ( I went for the flac version ) I spent the rest of the evening jamming to it. Sure, I liked my represented tracks, but all of the rest pleased me completely, too. There's creations from SMASH, Spider, AtoZ, Satis5d, DJ MXR, & oh so many more. The international spread of contributors yields large success, I say. The combos include pairings such as the Pet Shop Boys vs Erasure vs Angels & Airwaves, Red Hot Chili Peppers vs Beck, Ace Of Base vs Ed Sheeran, & enough in addition to keep you listening for weeks.
Next weeks article subject from me is a surprise, but I'll tell you that on the Summer Solstice the latest "Summer Booty : The Summer Mashup Collection" will thrill you all.
• Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 is anti-censorship and pro-free speech, and it has frequently been the target of censors. Some students once wrote Mr. Bradbury to tell him that a passage about abortion had been deleted from a textbook version of his novel. Mr. Bradbury examined the textbook version and discovered that the editors had “censored some 75 separate sections from the novel.”
• During his life, Voltaire was often under attack by censors, and he lived close to the border so he could escape to Switzerland if necessary. When the case against Voltaire’s Man With Forty Crowns was called, a magistrate asked, “Is it only his books we shall burn?”

• When she was a young girl, Marion Dane Bauer, author of the 1987 Newbery Honor Book On My Honor, was asked to write essays on such topics as “What I Did on My Summer Vacation.” Unfortunately, when she started to write papers about such things as camping trips, the events that had really happened seemed boring. No problem. Being an imaginative child, she simply embellished the truth and told about the bear that had rampaged through the campsite and ripped open the tent. Fortunately, being a heroic child as well as an imaginative child, she had saved her family by taking a burning stick from the campfire and setting the bear’s tail on fire. She did face a problem, however. What would her parents say if they read those school essays? No problem. On her way home from school were trashcans bearing the message KEEP YOUR CITY CLEAN. Being an obedient child as well as a heroic child, she tore her school essays into pieces and placed them in these trashcans.
• R.L. Stine, the author of the Goosebumps and Fear Street series of scary books for kids, was kind of a weird kid. He liked staying in his room and writing stories instead of going outside and playing sports. Sometimes, his parents would tell him, “Go out and play! What’s wrong with you!” Of course, occasionally he did go out. For example, each week he would get a trim at a barbershop, a task that often took hours. Why? The barbershop contained lots of comic books that the young R.L. Stine was forbidden to read at home. This early literary training paid off — Mr. Stine’s books have sold over 300 million copies! He writes books quickly, although he has had to pay a price for his prodigal output. He types with only one finger, and he says, “My poor finger is totally bent and crooked and ruined from typing so many books. I figure if the finger ever gives out, there goes the career.”
• On her 15th birthday, Jean Little — who later became a young people’s author — was reading one of her favorite books: Jane Eyre. She had reached an exciting episode — Jane being run down by Rochester’s horse — when her usual bedtime arrived. Because she wanted to read the episode, she scrunched down in her chair, hoping that her parents would forget that she was still up. Luck was with her. She finished that episode, then kept reading. Just then, her parents got up, and her mother asked her, “You’ll turn off the lights, won’t you?” Jean pointed out, “It’s way past my bedtime. You forgot to send me to bed.” Her mother replied, “You are 15. You should have sense enough by now to go to bed at a reasonable hour. From now on, your bedtime is your responsibility. Good night.” As her parents went to bed, Jean heard them laughing — they had known Jean was still up, and they had already decided that her bedtime was now her responsibility.
Written by Scott Joplin in 1902, then adapted and orchestrated by Marvin Hamlisch, it won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score and Adaptation on April 2, 1974. What is the title of this piece?
Angoroj (Agonies) is a 1964 film. It is the first feature film to be produced entirely in Esperanto. It was directed and produced by Jacques-Louis Mahé, a friend of Raymond Schwartz who, under the pseudonym 'Lorjak', had previously produced a silent Esperanto publicity film before World War II titled Antauen! (Onwards!).

Incubus (Esperanto: Inkubo) is a 1966 American horror film directed by Leslie Stevens. Filmed entirely in the constructed language Esperanto, the film stars William Shatner, shortly before he would begin his work on Star Trek. The film's cinematography was by Conrad Hall, who went on to win three Academy Awards for his work on the films Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, American Beauty, and Road to Perdition.
Incubus was the second feature film to use Esperanto, following the 1964 film Angoroj. The use of Esperanto was intended to create an eerie, otherworldly feeling, and Stevens prohibited dubbing the film into other languages; however, on the Special Features section of the DVD the makers claim that Esperanto was used because of perceived greater international sales. Esperanto speakers are generally disappointed by the pronunciation of the language by the cast of Incubus. The film was considered to be lost for many years, until a copy was found in Paris in 1996.

Both films were filmed entirely in the Esperanto language. What made the producers use a language that practically nobody who can afford to go to a movie theater speaks? Whatever reason they had, both movies were commercial disasters, and for years both were considered lost films because few copies were made and a determined effort to destroy all the copies was made, presumably to conceal the evidence? Unfortunately copies were found and preserved for no good reason. In the case of Incubus, speakers of Esperanto were either amused or outraged by the actors’ butchered pronunciation, which isn’t surprising considering one of the actors was the scenery chewing William Shatner. Sadly one of the actors killed himself right before the film’s disastrous premier, although he may have been distraught for a different reason.
Jim from CA, retired to ID, said:

Joe ( -- Vote Blue, No Matter Who -- ) replied:
I don't know!!!!! ?? Is it because of the use of esperanto? Just guessing.

You should really just listen to their entire discography though. ^_^ My heart goes out to them and all they've been through recently - 3Favorite track: ‘Coming To The End.’
Have decided that the more often I see a political ad the more likely I am to vote against what they're pitching.
If they can afford to piss away that much money on advertising, they are most likely trying to do something that isn't in my best interest.

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Monday singled out Fox News for what he called its sometimes “outlandish” reporting on COVID-19 at a time when the public needs vital facts about the pandemic.
The nation’s top infectious disease expert was interviewed by CNN’s Brian Stelter. In highlights from the conversation aired on “The Situation Room,” Fauci spoke of misinformation in the media and also discussed concerns relating to President Donald Trump’s controversial new coronavirus task force adviser, Dr. Scott Atlas.
“The bad guy is the virus. The bad guy is not the person on the other side of your opinion,” Fauci said.
“There is so much misinformation during this very divisive time that we’re in, and the public really needs to know the facts,” he added. “Some of the media that I deal with really kind of, I wouldn’t say distort things, but certainly give opposing perspectives on what seems to be a pretty obvious fact.”
“If you listen to Fox News, with all due respect to the fact that they do have some good reporters, some of the things that they report there are outlandish, to be honest with you.”
NBC has reached a settlement with former “America’s Got Talent” judge Gabrielle Union, following her explosive accusations of rampant workplace toxicity on the talent competition series.
“We’ve reached an amicable resolution. NBC Entertainment appreciates the important concerns raised by Gabrielle Union and remains committed to ensuring an inclusive and supportive working environment where people of all backgrounds can be treated with respect,” NBC and Union’s spokespeople said in a joint statement.
Reported at length by Variety, Union was ousted as a judge on the Simon Cowell-produced show after complaining of racism, health violations in the form of Cowell’s on-set smoking, and her labelling as difficult in advocating for a functioning and dignified work environment.
In an internal investigation that was never formally completed, distributor NBC and producer FremantleMedia found no evidence of systemic racism but made significant changes to the human resources reporting process for employees at numerous parties involved in the show.
“If I can’t speak out with the privilege that I have, and the benefits that my husband and I have, what is the point of making it?” asked Union, who is married to NBA star Dwyane Wade. The couple just graced the cover of Time magazine as two of its 100 most influential people of the year.
Amazon Studios has acquired worldwide rights to the sequel of the 2006 film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. The film, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen in the title role once again, will premiere late October on Amazon Prime and its subscribers in 240 countries and territories.
The Borat sequel was the first movie made during the COVID-19 shutdown, shot surreptitiously as quickly as coronavirus shooting restrictions were eased, and unions were in agreement on a return to shooting. When that happened, Baron Cohen and his team were filming the movie the next day with a minimal crew.
Baron Cohen and cohorts flew to various parts of the U.S. and internationally to shoot the film. As he did on the first Borat, the follow-up film Brüno, and his Showtime summer series Who Is America, Baron Cohen risked his life multiple times to shoot the scenes in this film. Indeed, I’m told by sources that he had to wear a bulletproof vest on two different shooting days and on many days, there were risky and dangerous scenarios in shooting. Baron Cohen managed to do a good job keeping the film under wraps, though word of it has leaked a bit after it wrapped and CAA Media Finance showed it to buyers and set the distribution deal.
Baron Cohen rushed to have the film ready to open before Election Day. The first film was a big success, grossing $262 million worldwide for Fox. Given the fact that that studio was swallowed by Disney, and theatrical releases are more perilous than ever in the pandemic, they decided the best way for the movie to be seen by its widest audience before Election Day was to open on Amazon Prime before the end of October. So it will be on Prime that Baron Cohen does what he has turned into a singular art form: going undercover to get people to reveal their true selves and their often unflattering biases, with only the slightest provocation.
Netflix has set the premiere date for its Dolly Parton holiday special Dolly Parton’s Christmas on The Square. The streaming giant announced Tuesday that the holiday title, starring Parton, Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams and Jeanine Mason, will premiere on Nov. 22
Dolly Parton’s Christmas on The Square, directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen, follows a rich woman named Regina (Baranski) who seeks to sell her father’s land to a mall developer. However after an encounter with a guardian angel (Parton), Regina undergoes a Grinch-like change of heart and rekindles connections with the locals of her hometown.
Rounding out the Dolly Parton’s Christmas on The Square cast are Josh Segarra, Mary Lane Haskell, Matthew Johnson and Selah Kimbro Jones.
US Sen. Moscow Mitch McConnell (R-Unscrupulous) and his challenger in the Kentucky Senate race, Amy McGrath, are sparring over upcoming debates.
It all started when Mr McConnell sent a press release from "Team Mitch" accusing his opponent of potentially backing out of a debate in October. But according to subsequent claims from Ms McGrath's campaign, the real issue is the senator’s refusal to participate in an event with a female moderator.
In a press release issued Monday, Ms McGrath's campaign alleged that "Amy is ready and willing to debate Mitch, but Mitch is afraid to take the stage unless he dictates every detail."
The release continues, "Sen. Mitch McConnell has not participated in a debate in Kentucky where the candidates took questions from a female moderator in nearly 25 years, and he continues to resist allowing women to host debates."
The campaign promised that Ms McGrath would participate in upcoming debates only when "the gender balance of the moderators is restored."
Antarctica contains more than half of the world's freshwater in its sprawling, frozen ice sheet, but humanity's decisions over the next century could send that water irreversibly into the sea.
If global warming is allowed to continue unchecked, Antarctica will soon pass a "point of no return" that could reduce the continent to a barren, ice-free mass for the first time in more than 30 million years, according to a new study published Sep. 23 in the journal Nature.
In the study, PIK researchers ran computer simulations to model how Antarctica will look thousands of years from now, depending on how high average global temperatures rise in response to modern greenhouse gas emissions.
They found that, if average temperatures rise 7.2 degrees Fahrenheit (4 degrees Celsius) above pre-industrial levels for any sustained period of time, much of the ice in West Antarctica will crumble, resulting in 21 feet (6.5 meters) of global sea-level rise; that amount of rise would devastate coastal cities like New York, Tokyo and London. This scenario could be a reality within decades; a global average temperature rise of 9 F (5 C) is currently considered the “worst-case” warming scenario if current greenhouse gas emission levels are allowed to continue through the year 2100, according to the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
These regular barren patches that pop up in grasslands in Australia and Namibia have long created controversy, with some researchers arguing that they might be the result of underground termite activity. But now, the most detailed monitoring effort ever shows that fairy circles are engineered by the grasses themselves.
The research, published Sept. 21 in the Journal of Ecology, reveals how harsh, dry conditions in Australia, punctuated by occasional heavy rainstorms, create a hostile crust of clay that makes up the barren part of the fairy circles. But water runs off this crust, creating a relative oasis at its edges where grasses can make a home. It's a self-fulfilling cycle: Where there are no plants, weathering from rain and sun makes the soil ever more inhospitable, while areas where grass has managed to grow become a safe haven, where the vegetation cover lowers the soil temperature by up to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius), traps water and allows new seedlings to take root.
"This is the positive feedback, where plants do 'self-organized patch formation:' They do ecosystem engineering to benefit as much as possible from the limited water in this harsh environment," study lead author Stephan Getzin, an ecologist at the University of Göttingen and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research in Germany, wrote in an email to Live Science.
