The Ongoing Search For Mashups - Fleetwood Mac
By DJ Useo
The thing that people seem to enjoy the most about mashups are the tracks that use the artists they love. From personal experience I've learned that a fantastic track with unknown artists do pull in less listeners then fair tracks with very popular artists. So, I think we can agree that the interest lies in the mashups that you can quickly relate to. Most likely, because of the press for our time in the speedy, modern world.
So, if by some long shot chance, you choose to look for an enjoyable mashup, you'll look for one with an artist that's a big favorite. Let's use a few search engines, & see what results we can get, for say, Fleetwood Mac. They're a group that most of us are familiar with, but will that translate into readily available mashups? Let's begin.

Jaykova - Pink Floyd vs Fleetwood Mac (Mashup) - Tusk In The Wall
( www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0pHql4ciaA )
I found this to be very appealing. I venture to say that you'll play this often. Includes links for download. Ni-ice.

BRAT - Everybody Wants To Stop The World ( Tears For Fears vs Fleetwood Mac )( Mashup )
( bratproductions.com/mixes/mashups/brat_everybodywantstostoptheworld.html )
Holy cow! I liked this one even more! Also has links for download.

DJ Fox - Hypnotized Gypsy ( Akon vs Fleetwood Mac )
( soundcloud.com/mutantpop/5-dj-fox-hypnotized-gypsy )
Another dream mix, as featured on a full Fleetwood Mac mashup comp that is still linked! Mighty fine!

The Reborn Identity - ( Adele vs Fleetwood Mac ) 'Rumours Have It'
Excellent mix. Completely satisfying. Sounds like it began this way. Also has well-crafted video.
05 - AOL.com Search result -
MashedPot8er - Teenage DreamS ( Katy Perry vs Fleetwood Mac )
New to my ears, but totally ingratiating. No video to speak of, but the audio is worth enjoying.
Well, the results were very thin, overall, but the tracks I did find were excellent. A notable result of all of these searches for me was the complete absence of many Fleetwood Mac mashups I know of personally. It's easy to conclude the results are censored, or perhaps merely incomplete.
My Mashup Forum
( audioboots.com/ )
has many Fleetwood Mac tracks posted, but none of them manifested from any of the searches I made.
Try looking for a mashup of one of your fave artists, & send it along to me. I'll include your name if you like.
More mashups next week.

Jonathan Chait: Trump's Lawyers Can't Talk Him Out of Talking to Mueller (NY Mag)
Trump is reportedly eager to grant the special counsel's request for a face-to-face chat, while literally every lawyer and political adviser he has thinks that would be a horrendous idea.
Jonathan Chait: Why Republicans Will Repeal Obamacare If They Hold Congress (NY Mag)
"Many Republicans assume" that a positive election result for their party will inspire it to attempt another repeal of Obamacare next year, reports Caitlin Owens . It may be difficult to believe that, after a devastating failure that registered historically ruinous approval in public opinion surveys, Republicans would try the same thing again with a presumably narrower House majority. But such an outcome may be more plausible than you might think.
Jonathan Chait: Trumpcare Means Leaving the Poor and Sick to Fend for Themselves (NY Mag)
Trump's most recent step is to allow insurers to sell those skimpy plans with little coverage - excluding customers with expensive medical needs, who would be left in exchanges without healthy customers to help share the costs. This would provide some immediate cost-benefit to healthy customers, who would be free from cross-subsidizing the less fortunate. Of course, if they happen to suffer unexpected medical misfortune themselves, they will be out of luck.

You can't troll your opponents as Nazis when there are proud Nazis out there marching for you.
Jonathan Chait: Trump's Reelection Slogan, 'Keep America Great,' Belies How Much Trouble He's In (NY Mag)
President Trump has picked a slogan for his reelection campaign, reports Gabriel Sherman, and it is: "Keep America Great." Trump stands a reasonably strong chance to win reelection, because every president stands a reasonably strong chance to win reelection. Incumbents usually win a second term unless they're experiencing a recession or losing a war. But by the standards of reelection campaigns, Trump's is anemic.
Paul Waldman: What Democrats have learned from Republicans (Washington Post)
If Democrats do as well as many believe they will in November's elections, one thing is becoming clear: They won't waste the opportunity that whatever power they can manage to seize will afford them. But as they prepare for that day, they aren't just coming up with policy plans (which Democrats always do). They're also making a very conscious effort to shift the entire American political debate to the left.

Tuesday Night
Was starting to put the page together when there was a strange series of thuds out front, so went to investigate.
Some how a young lad who lives down the street rolled his dad's brand new Honda SUV. Rolled it real good.
The vehicle was resting on the passenger side, bunch of air bags had deployed, and were hanging out the blown-out windows, the front of the car was pointing west (the street runs north & south).
There was no sound of brakes squealing, or speeding. Just thuds.
Looking north.
Looking south.
Tow truck uprighted.
Hour and a half later, it was all wrapped up - car removed, glass swept, and neighbors returned to their respective houses.

Marc's Guide to Curing Cancer
So far so good on beating cancer for now. I'm doing fine. At the end of the month I'll be 16 months into an 8 month mean lifespan. And yesterday I went on a 7 mile hike and managed to keep up with the hiking group I was with. So, doing something right.
Still waiting for future test results and should see things headed in the right direction. I can say that it's not likely that anything dire happens in the short term so that means that I should have time to make several more attempts at this. So even if it doesn't work the first time there are a lot of variations to try. So if there's bad news it will help me pick the next radiation target.
I have written a "how to" guide for oncologists to perform the treatment that I got. I'm convinced that I'm definitely onto something and whether it works for me or not isn't the definitive test. I know if other people tried this that it would work for some of them, and if they improve it that it will work for a lot of them.
The guide is quite detailed and any doctor reading this can understand the procedure at every level. I also go into detail as to how it works, how I figured it out, and variations and improvements that could be tried to enhance it. I also introduce new ways to look at the problem. There is a lot of room for improvement and I think that doctors reading it will see what I'm talking about and want to build on it. And it's written so that if you're not a doctor you can still follow it. It also has a personal story revealing that I'm the class clown of cancer support group. I give great interviews and I look pretty hot in a lab coat.
So, feel free to read this and see what I'm talking about. But if any of you want to help then pass this around to both doctors and cancer patients. I need some media coverage. I'm looking for as many eyeballs as possible to read these ideas. Even if this isn't the solution, it's definitely on the right track. After all, I did hike 7 miles yesterday. And this hiking group wasn't moving slow. So if this isn't working then, why am I still here?
I also see curing cancer as more of an engineering problem that a medical problem. So if you are good at solving problems and most of what you know about medicine was watching the Dr. House MD TV show, then you're at the level I was at when I started. So anyone can jump in and be part of the solution.

Carpool Karaoke Prime-Time Special
Paul McCartney
James Corden gave viewers the longest and perhaps most beloved Carpool Karaoke installment earlier this summer when Paul McCartney returned to Liverpool, drove around with the late-night talk show host, sang some of the biggest Beatles hits, visited his childhood home, and played a surprise gig at a local pub.
The emotional segment, which CBS says has almost 130 million digital views across Facebook and YouTube, clocked in at 23 minutes. But according to the Late Late Show producers, there was plenty of action that you didn't get to see. Until now. CBS will air the one-hour special Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool on Aug. 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, offering up never-before-seen footage from the installment.
Corden has done three Carpool Karaoke prime time specials, and the first two claimed Emmys. Musical artists including Adele, Mariah Carey, Elton John, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Ed Sheeran have participated in the viral segment over the last few years.

Broadway Tunes Protest
Rosie O'Donnell
Rosie O'Donnell and dozens of Broadway stars lent some razzmatazz to the ongoing "Kremlin Annex" protest outside the White House on Monday night.
The TV personality added further fuel to the fire that is her decadelong beefwith Donald Trump by joining cast members from musicals including "Hamilton," "Wicked," "The Lion King" and "Phantom of the Opera" to sing numbers in protest of his presidency.
"We are so thrilled to be here at the 'Kremlin Annex' at night 22," O'Donnell told the crowd. "Let the president know in no uncertain terms that we are alive, awake and we are woke. We are not going away."
Some activists carried lettered signs that spelled out the word "TREASON."
Others held up mock theater posters for "The Lyin' King" and "The Book of Moron."

Pink Vinyl For Charity
Hall and Oates
Daryl Hall and John Oates, El-P and Soccer Mommy are among the artists set to reissue their albums on pink vinyl as part of the fifth annual charity initiative, Ten Bands One Cause, which benefits Gilda's Club NYC.
The limited edition records will be released between September 25th and October 26th via the Orchard. They'll be available at vinyl-selling retailers across the United States.
Hall and Oates will reissue their classic 1975 self-titled record, while rapper El-P will re-release his third studio album, Cancer 4 Cure (El-P's duo with Killer Mike, Run the Jewels, partook in Ten Bands One Cause in 2015). Meanwhile, Nashville alt-rock newcomers Soccer Mommy will re-release their acclaimed 2018 debut Clean.
The other titles for Ten Bands One Cause 2018 include Local Natives' Gorilla Manor, Modest Mouse's This Is a Long Drive For Someone With Nothing to Think About, Silversun Pickups' Swoon, Black Moth Super Rainbow's Panic Blooms, The All-American Rejects' self-titled debut and Tyler Childers' Purgatory. Capping it all off is a special reissue of the original Rocky Horror Picture Show Soundtrack.
Since 2014, Ten Bands One Cause has raised nearly $200,000 for Gilda's Club NYC. The organization was founded in 1995 in honor of the late comedian, Gilda Radner, who died in 1989 from cancer. The organization strives to create a community and support group for those living with cancer, as well as caregivers and those who have lost someone to cancer.

Series In Development
'Slaughterhouse-Five'
Universal Cable Productions' "Slaughterhouse-Five" series is now in development at Epix, Variety has learned exclusively.
Based on Kurt Vonnegut's classic novel of the same name, the project focuses on Billy Pilgrim, a WW2 soldier who becomes "unstuck in time" and travels back and forth through his past, present and future. The novel explores the idea of predestination versus free will, the impacts of war, as well as the perception of time itself.
UCP will produce. The series hails from writer and executive producer Patrick Macmanus, who is currently the showrunner on "Happy!" at Syfy. Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Entertainment will also executive produce along with Jon Brown of Ensemble Entertainment and Bradley Yonover of Brand Y Media. Kari Skogland, who recently secured an Emmy nomination for her work on "The Handmaid's Tale," is attached to direct.
Variety exclusively reported back in December that UCP was developing the series. The original book was published in 1969 and is frequently ranked among the best English-language novels of the 20th century. The book was also a source of controversy and was banned from many schools upon its publication. The American Library Association has also included the book on its list of the "Most Frequently Challenged Books."
Should the project move forward, it would not be the first onscreen adaptation of the book. A film version starring Michael Sacks as Billy Pilgrim was released in 1972.

Walk of Fame
Hollywood
The city of West Hollywood approved a proposal to remove President-for-now Donald Trump's (R-OfPutin) star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, citing recent costly vandalism and recent demonstrations around the star.
West Hollywood's five-member city council passed the measure unanimously on Monday evening, allowing it to move forward with a request to remove the star, which has been vandalized several times since Trump took office last year.
It now plans to send a formal letter to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Los Angeles City Council and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for consideration. The Chamber of Commerce would have the final say in removing the star.
Brought forth by West Hollywood council members John D'Amico and Lindsey Horvath, the proposal cited the president's treatment of women and his views on climate change as catalysts.
Trump received a star on the Walk of Fame in 2007 for his work as producer of the Miss Universe Pageant.

U.S. Offers No Aid
Canada
Canada plans to seek help from the United Arab Emirates and Britain to defuse an escalating dispute with Saudi Arabia, sources said on Tuesday, but close ally the United States made clear it would not get involved.
The Saudi government on Sunday recalled its ambassador to Ottawa, barred Canada's envoy from returning and placed a ban on new trade, denouncing Canada for urging the release of jailed rights activists. Riyadh accused Ottawa on Tuesday of interfering in its internal affairs.
One well placed source said the Liberal government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau - which stresses the importance of human rights - planned to reach out to the United Arab Emirates.
Another source said Canada would also seek help from Britain. The British government on Tuesday urged the two nations to show restraint.
The United States, traditionally one of Canada's most important friends, stayed on the sidelines. U.S. President Donald Trump - who criticized Trudeau after a Group of Seven summit in June - has forged tighter ties with Riyadh.
