Summer Booty 2018 The Summer Mashup Album
By DJ Useo
Man, oh man have you hit the jackpot of mashups. Imagine you have 21 of the best bootleggers from around the world at your disposal. Each is going to express their vibe of Eternal Summer in a mashup. That'd be some album's worth, right? Well, multiply that by three, & you'd have "
Summer Booty 2018 The Summer Mashup Album", hosted as always at
AUDIOBOOTS MASHUP FORUM
( audioboots.com/Albums/SB2018/ ) .
The same as last year, I wasn't going to do another Summer Booty collection. Eleven volumes had me quite satis5d (sic), until people started sending me tracks too great to decline.I had twelve incredible tracks recieved, when I gave in & decided to do another volume. A familiar experience for me, actually. DJ Petrushka offered to help me with all the aspects, & with her & AtoZ assisting, we began.
Now that it's done, I got'ta say, I'm so glad to have it. If you've heard any of it yet, you know why I'm so happy. Try this
tremendous preview video from Rappy -
"Axwell ^ Ingrosso VS Nirvana - Smells More Than Teen Spirit (Rappy Mashup)"
( vimeo.com/275308806 ) .
I still find it hard to believe this makes a dozen of these collections. The talent involved has changed much, but the quality seems to have been honed into perfection. Listen for mixes by Voicedude, Roaxx J, DJ Rudec, Mumdy, oki,& many more. All of the contributors are highly skilled, & regular posters in the mashup scene. You could pick any of them, then delve into their discography, & be a fan for life. My hope is that happens to you, maybe even multiple times.
The tracks on this 3 disc collection assuredly present the mixers' concepts of Eternal Summer in the strongest way, despite the many styles employed. Listen for Pop, Rock, Hip Hop, Techno, & more, all worked into a fine blend. During the time spent assembling this collection, time & time again circumstances worked hard to prevent it's release; not least of which was constant emergencies on all sides.
We're mostly all doing much better now, & the album got finished magnificently. There's also streaming versions of the 3 discs, so you can
listen in the easiest
manner possible

Take it from me, you'll be the "coolest" person in the room when you play this record. The previous eleven volumes are all still

Paul Krugman: The Great Soybean Conspiracy (NY Times Column)
To date we've only had some minor trade skirmishes; but even these have sent the price of soybeans, which we export to China, plunging, while the price of steel has soared. And farmers and steel-using businesses are unhappy. So did the administration say, "Look, we're taking a tough stand, and there will be some costs"? Why, no. Instead, Ross declared that the price changes were the work of "antisocial" speculators engaged in "profiteering," and called for an investigation. See, we aren't looking at the predictable effects of administration policy; we're looking at an anti-Trump conspiracy.
Bob Bryan: Trump responds to Harley-Davidson, says it's waving the 'White Flag' by moving production out of US because of tariffs (Business Insider)
President Donald Trump attacked Harley-Davidson on Twitter on Monday after the company announced it was shifting production out of the US because of Trump's trade fight with the EU. "Surprised that Harley-Davidson, of all companies, would be the first to wave the White Flag," Trump said. Trade experts say that Harley's move is likely the first of many production moves by US companies.
George F. Will: Vote against the GOP this November (Washington Post)
Amid the carnage of Republican misrule in Washington, there is this glimmer of good news: The family-shredding policy along the southern border, the most telegenic recent example of misrule, clarified something. Occurring less than 140 days before elections that can reshape Congress, the policy has given independents and temperate Republicans - these are probably expanding and contracting cohorts, respectively - fresh if redundant evidence for the principle by which they should vote.
Jonathan Chait: Britain Has a Russia Collusion Scandal Now. It Looks Exactly Like Trump's. (NY Mag)
The dangling of the gold-mine deal likewise reflects a classic Putin-era Russian strategy. The most lucrative sectors of Russia's oligarch-driven economy involve monopolies over natural resources. They are the perfect bait for functional bribes. Russia can send businessmen, who may be operating with quiet support or control from the Kremlin, to offer deals that promise guaranteed profits. And those profits can be cover to inject Russian money into the West.
Josh Marshall: Against 'Civility' (TPM)
When it comes to protests, mean words, civil disobedience, boycotts, public shunning, we may disagree when one or other is wise or called for. But these are entirely legitimate tools of political action, civic action. Many calls for civility are simply calls for unilateral disarmament from those protesting injustices and abuses of power.
Jonathan Chait: Trump's Attempt to Bully Restaurant Is Going to Backfire Hilariously (NY Mag)
The name of the game in the restaurant business is getting on the map. If Trump's social media abuse was wildly successful, and it created 100 new Red Hen haters for every one new Red Hen fan, it would still be a big win for the Red Hen, which at this point probably now has a waiting list for reservations longer than Trump's term in office.
Josh Marshall: Please Bookmark This Post. Seriously. (TPM)
Sarah Sanders just again complained that Democrats support "open borders and rampant crime" that she claims comes with "open borders." These are straight up lies, so blatant and frequently repeated that I thought it was important to provide links here which can allow anyone who is willing to state and repeat the actual facts again and again and again.
AsapSCIENCE: Can Loneliness Kill You? (YouTube)
"There's a big difference between being alone and being lonely. If you are alone because you truly enjoy solitude, that shouldn't be a problem. But if you feel all alone and don't want to be, that is real loneliness. The stress of loneliness and social isolation can do serious damage, but that doesn't mean you are doomed. For many people, feelings of loneliness come and go as life progresses, and smart folks learn how to change their life situation to meet their need for social connections. AsapSCIENCE lets us in on the science of loneliness and its effects." - Neatorama

think about it...

Instead of politely asking you to leave they could be...

civility
I must be young again! I read somewhere that younger liberals are tired of the civility crap while it's older liberals calling for everyone to take the high road. 2 files attached & excerpts below from 2 Wonkette articles.
From Wonkette:
the milquetoast contributors on MSNBC and CNN can go fuck themselves with their jeremiads about how we're "sinking down to Trump's level" or "What happened to Michelle Obama saying when they go low, we go high?" First of all, we couldn't possibly sink down to that shit-mouth's level, because we're smarter than he is and we don't use unnecessary quotation marks or capital letters. Also, we can spell. And we're not fucking bigoted pig trash with orange skin and incorrect hair.
So please spare us the hot takes about how Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kirstjen Nielsen and Stephen Miller are just normal people who disagree with us, who deserve the dignity of eating a meal in in a public place without fear of having somebody yell at them and call them names. As Goldberg notes:
[T]here's a moral and psychic cost to participating in the fiction that people who work for Trump are in any sense public servants. I don't blame staff members at the Virginia restaurant, the Red Hen, for not wanting to help Sanders unwind after a hard week of lying to the public about mass child abuse.

Marc's Guide to Curing Cancer
So far so good on beating cancer for now. I'm doing fine. At the end of the month I'll be 16 months into an 8 month mean lifespan. And yesterday I went on a 7 mile hike and managed to keep up with the hiking group I was with. So, doing something right.
Still waiting for future test results and should see things headed in the right direction. I can say that it's not likely that anything dire happens in the short term so that means that I should have time to make several more attempts at this. So even if it doesn't work the first time there are a lot of variations to try. So if there's bad news it will help me pick the next radiation target.
I have written a "how to" guide for oncologists to perform the treatment that I got. I'm convinced that I'm definitely onto something and whether it works for me or not isn't the definitive test. I know if other people tried this that it would work for some of them, and if they improve it that it will work for a lot of them.
The guide is quite detailed and any doctor reading this can understand the procedure at every level. I also go into detail as to how it works, how I figured it out, and variations and improvements that could be tried to enhance it. I also introduce new ways to look at the problem. There is a lot of room for improvement and I think that doctors reading it will see what I'm talking about and want to build on it. And it's written so that if you're not a doctor you can still follow it. It also has a personal story revealing that I'm the class clown of cancer support group. I give great interviews and I look pretty hot in a lab coat.
So, feel free to read this and see what I'm talking about. But if any of you want to help then pass this around to both doctors and cancer patients. I need some media coverage. I'm looking for as many eyeballs as possible to read these ideas. Even if this isn't the solution, it's definitely on the right track. After all, I did hike 7 miles yesterday. And this hiking group wasn't moving slow. So if this isn't working then, why am I still here?
I also see curing cancer as more of an engineering problem that a medical problem. So if you are good at solving problems and most of what you know about medicine was watching the Dr. House MD TV show, then you're at the level I was at when I started. So anyone can jump in and be part of the solution.

'You Are Causing Suffering And Division'
David Lynch
David Lynch issued a rebuke to President-for-now Trump (R-Fabulist) Tuesday one day after the president touted a quote from the filmmaker that appeared to defend the administration's controversial policies.
"Dear Mr. President, This is David Lynch writing," the director wrote in a Facebook post. "I saw that you re-tweeted the Breitbart article with the heading - Director David Lynch: Trump 'Could Go Down as One of the Greatest Presidents in History.' I wish you and I could sit down and have a talk. This quote which has traveled around was taken a bit out of context and would need some explaining."
Lynch told Trump that while he could go down as one of the "greatest" presidents, the divisive policies that have helped him disrupt political norms will ultimately prevent that from happening.
"Unfortunately, if you continue as you have been, you will not have a chance to go down in history as a great president," Lynch wrote. "This would be very sad it seems for you - and for the country. You are causing suffering and division."

Our Country Did Not Learn
FDR's Granddaughter
The country hasn't learned from history, says Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's granddaughter, who calls current immigration policies, like the internment of Japanese-Americans after Pearl Harbor, "inconsistent with who we are as a country."
Roosevelt, 70, wasn't yet born when her grandfather issued the executive order that forced 120,000 Japanese-Americans, including citizens, into internment camps. But she said history provided a "very available lesson to learn from, and we didn't. Our country did not learn."
President Trump's hardline immigration stances, including his "zero-tolerance" policy, which has separated immigrant families at the U.S.-Mexico border, are being likened to a time in American history when families were taken from their homes and separated. Near the beginning of American entry into World War II, amid fears about national security, Roosevelt signed and issued Executive Order 9066, banning Americans of Japanese ancestry from designated "military areas" - including the entire state of California. Whole communities were relocated to camps in other states.
"With the Japanese internment camps, we gathered up the whole family and displaced them from their homes and their businesses and their possessions. This is even worse," said Roosevelt about the family separations happening today. "We're taking people from the only anchor they have when they're in a moment of distress and separating them from that place where they feel like they have someone to hang on to. What I would have hoped is that we would have learned from the examination of internment during World War II."
Learning from the mistakes of the past, Roosevelt said "would take wise leadership, leadership that is able to learn from the past, see connections, have an understanding of right and wrong. And to understand that government is about people, not just about words on a piece of paper."

Officially Knighted
Barry Gibb
Barry Gibb, the last surviving member of the Bee Gees, can now be referred to as Sir Barry. On Tuesday, the 71-year-old music legend was officially knighted by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.
During the ceremony, Gibb said he couldn't have attained such success without his brothers and hopes that they're pleased with his "surreal" accomplishment. "If I had spent my whole life writing songs on my own, it would have meant something else altogether," he commented, according to the BBC News. "I hope and pray that they are aware of what has happened and that they are proud."
When asked about the musical pedigree of his family, Gibb noted much of the Bee Gees' fame came as a result of pure perseverance. "I think being relentless had a lot to do with it. When you are a kid and you make up your mind to do something," he explained. "You have got to have failure with a lot of success and I think that is what keeps you grounded."
The Bee Gees were icons of the '70s, thanks to their signature falsettos and massive hits like "Night Fever", "Stayin' Alive", "How Deep Is Your Love", and "Tragedy". They're currently one of the world's best-selling acts. In 2016, Sir Barry released In the Now, his first solo album in over 30 years.
His brother Maurice Gibb passed away in 2003 from complications stemming from a surgery to correct an intestinal blockage. Robin Gibb died in 2012 from cancer.

Pleads Guilty
Reality Winner
A woman accused of leaking U.S. secrets to a news outlet pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Georgia.
Reality Winner, 26, entered her guilty plea after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors that calls for her to serve five years and three months behind bars, news outlets reported. A judge will sentence her later.
"All of these actions I did willfully, meaning I did them of my own free will," she told the court, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported .
Winner has been held without bail since she was arrested in June 2017 and charged under the Espionage Act. Her trial had been set to start Oct. 15.
She is a former Air Force linguist who speaks Arabic and Farsi and had a top-secret security clearance. She worked for the national security contractor Pluribus International at Fort Gordon in Georgia when she was charged in June 2017 with copying a classified U.S. report and mailing it to an unidentified news organization.

Neanderthals
Neanderthals were capable of sophisticated, collective hunting strategies, according to an analysis of prehistoric animal remains from Germany that contradicts the enduring image of these early humans as knuckle-dragging brutes.
The cut marks -- or "hunting lesions" -- on the bones of two 120,000-year-old deer provide the earliest "smoking gun" evidence such weapons were used to stalk and kill prey, according to a study the journal Nature Ecology and Evolution.
Microscopic imaging and ballistics experiments reproducing the impact of the blows confirmed that at least one was delivered with a wooden spear at low velocity.
"This suggests that Neanderthals approached animals very closely and thrust, not threw, their spears at the animals, most likely from an underhand angle," said Sabine Gaudzinski-Windheuser, a researcher at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, Germany.
"Such a confrontational way of hunting required careful planning and concealment, and close cooperation between individual hunters," she told AFP.

Aims To Inspire
Robotics Barbie
An inspirational new version of Barbie will encourage young girls to embark on careers in engineering and the sciences, the iconic doll's manufacturer Mattel said on Tuesday.
Barbie, who first hit the shelves in 1959, prides herself on trying out jobs where women aren't strongly represented, to add to her more traditional skill set of dancing with Ken and looking fabulous.
The company has announced a "Career of the year" Barbie who just happens to be a robotics engineer -- a job that in real-life is occupied almost nine times out of ten by men.
The new doll joins a lineup of more than 200 careers held by Barbie, "all of which reinforce the brand's purpose to inspire the limitless potential in every girl," Mattel said in a statement.

Redwood Grove
A grove in Northern California with hundreds of ancient redwood trees, some taller than the Statue of Liberty, is being acquired by an environmental group that plans to preserve it and open a new public park.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports Tuesday the Save the Redwoods League announced it is purchasing the 738-acre grove, which is a third larger than Muir Woods National Monument and has 47 percent more old-growth trees.
Known as Harold Richardson Redwoods Reserve, the sprawling forest in Sonoma County matches Muir Woods' majesty. One of its oldest trees is wider than a two-lane road.
Save the Redwoods League says the transaction involves a land swap and $9.6 million in payments. The group hopes to open the park to the public within three years.
