M Is FOR MASHUP - May 21st 2014
May 2014 With Useo
By DJ Useo
Spring, and Summer always slow things down for mashup producers, and I think, for most people on the internet. ( Aside from porn fans. Lol. ) I wanted to see if I could buck that trend this year by releasing some high quality mixes regularly, and often. :D
I used to get a big audience from Europe, and Asia, but in the post Snowden era, it's mainly Canada, Mexico, and the States. People overseas are not disposed towards U.S. bootleggers like they were before, and us mixers ain't doin' nothin' differently.
In anticipation of the slow down, I readied lots of useo content. Allow me now to make mention of many of them.
01-"DJ Useo -Who Put The DJ In Useo? ( 1:00 ) of Minimal Techno". Most people tell me they like wordless, minimal techno, so here you go! Hosted by the

Marty,
I took the test. I failed miserably. I think there were only three "no" answers. I must be one hell of a heathen.

BartCop
Hello Bartcop fans,
As you all know the untimely passing of Terry was unexpected, even by
him. We all knew he had cancer but we all thought he had some years
left. So some of us who have worked closely with him over the years are
scrambling around trying to figure out what to do. My job, among other
things, is to establish communications with the Bartcop community and
provide email lists and groups for those who might put something
together. Those who want to play an active roll in something coming from
this, or if you are one of Bart's pillars, should send an email to
active@bartcop.com.
So - to let you know what's going on, the guestbook on bartcop.com is
still open for those who want to write something in memory of Bart.
I did an interview on Netroots Radio about Bart's passing

Bart's final wish was to pay off the house mortgage for Mrs. Bart who is
overwhelmed and so very grateful for the support she has received.
Anyone wanting to make a donation can click on this the yellow donate

But - I need you all to help keep this going. This note
isn't going to directly reach all of Bart's fans. So if you can repost
it on blogs and discussion boards so people can sign up then when we
figure out what's next we can let more people know. This list is just
over 600 but like to get it up to at least 10,000 pretty quick. So
here's the signup link for this email list.

Bans Firearms At Restaurants
Chipotle
Chipotle Mexican Grill will no longer allow firearms in its restaurants after gun-rights activists posed with military-style assault rifles at one of its Texas outlets, the company said on Tuesday.
The Denver-based chain said in a statement that a recent open-carry demonstration at a Dallas-area restaurant caused its customers "anxiety and discomfort," and prompted the policy change.
"Because of this, we are respectfully asking that customers not bring guns into our restaurants, unless they are authorized law enforcement personnel," company spokesman Chris Arnold said.
A gun-control group, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, launched a petition drive on social media demanding that Chipotle halt the practice after photographs depicting the Texas demonstration surfaced on the Internet.
Arnold said the policy shift was a direct result of the Texas incident, and not due to pressure by any gun-control groups.

Judge Expresses Ongoing Concerns
Casey Kasem
A judge on Tuesday expanded the powers of Casey Kasem's daughter to determine whether her father is receiving adequate medical care amid his ongoing concerns about the health and welfare of the ailing radio personality.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Daniel S. Murphy ordered Kasem's wife, Jean, to comply with court orders allowing doctors to evaluate her husband, and also allow his daughter Kerri to see him. He also ordered Jean Kasem to surrender her husband's passport and temporarily suspended her powers to determine her husband's medical care.
Murphy's orders came after the second hearing in a week in which lawyers for Jean Kasem have said they could not disclose where Casey Kasem is located. Authorities found him in Kitsap County in Washington last week after Murphy ordered adult protective services to locate him, but the judge said the lack of additional information and cooperation troubles him.
The judge has appointed an attorney and doctor to evaluate Casey Kasem, but neither has been able to contact him or his wife. The former radio show host is suffering from a form of dementia called Lewy Body Disease, according to court records.
Jean Kasem was represented at Tuesday's court hearing by two attorneys from different firms, which added to Murphy's exasperation about the lack of information about her husband, his whereabouts and what actions she had taken.

Cancels Japan Tour
Paul McCartney
Paul McCartney is canceling his entire Japan tour because of illness.
The former Beatle got a virus last week and canceled several concerts, apologizing online to fans.
Now, his organizers say he is not well enough to do any of the concerts in Japan, including the one set for Wednesday at Nippon Budokan hall, where the Beatles performed during their first Japan tour in 1966.
McCartney, 71, is still scheduled for a concert in Seoul, South Korea, on May 28 at Jamsil Sports Complex Main Stadium, followed by 19 U.S. performances.

Scrapping 'Have It Your Way' Slogan
Burger King
Burger King is scrapping its 40-year-old "Have It Your Way" slogan in favor of the more personal "Be Your Way."
The chain says the new tag line will roll out across its marketing in the U.S., including in a TV ad that will begin airing Monday night. The line made its first appearance in an online video last month.
Burger King says in a statement that the new motto is intended to remind people that "they can and should live how they want anytime. It's ok to not be perfect ... Self-expression is most important and it's our differences that make us individuals instead of robots."
Whether the new tag line can help Burger King's image over the long term remains to be seen. The company, along with McDonald's Corp., is fighting to boost sales at a time when people are moving toward foods they feel are fresher or higher quality. And Laura Ries, president of the brand consulting firm Ries & Ries, noted that companies can come across as trying too hard to be cool.

Global Warming Activists 'Unpatriotic Racists'
Pat Sajak
Game show host Pat Sajak caused a major uproar in social media circles on Tuesday, writing on Twitter that "global warming alarmists are unpatriotic racists knowingly misleading for their own ends."
The longtime "Wheel of Fortune" host has been outspoken about his political views for several years, and has donated thousands of dollars to Republican candidates, but his opinions have never before really interfered with his day job.
First posted on Monday, the hyperbolic attack was a trending topic on Twitter by late afternoon and has been picked up by major news organizations, including The Washington Post.
Sajak himself seemed to be enjoying the attention. In a follow up posting to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon, he wrote "Sometimes it's fun to poke a stick in a hornets' nest just to hear the buzzing."

US Landmarks
Climate change and sea level rise are threatening historic US landmarks, from the Statue of Liberty to NASA's coastal rocket launch sites, and the nation needs to prepare, scientists said.
"The range and scale of impacts are alarming," said the report by the Union of Concerned Scientists that listed more than two dozen landmarks endangered by wildfires, coastal erosion and flooding -- events scientists say are being made worse by global warming.
They include the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in New York Harbor, which was the entry point for 14 million immigrants from 1886 to 1924.
Five of seven of NASA's multi-billion dollar coastal complexes famous for training astronauts and launching historic missions to space are also at risk.
From Cape Canaveral in Florida to mission control in Houston, the US space agency is busily building seawalls where possible and moving some buildings further inland.

Arrested In Wife's Death
Michael Jace
Actor Michael Jace, who played a police officer on television, was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of fatally shooting his wife, and detectives were investigating whether the couple's financial or other marital difficulties might have played a role in the killing.
Jace, who appeared on the hit FX series "The Shield," was being held on $1 million bail after being accused of shooting his wife multiple times during an argument in their home in the quiet, modest Hyde Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
The couple's two sons, both under 10, were at home at the time, although police were unsure if they witnessed the argument or gunfire.
Jace, 51, is best known for his role as LAPD Officer Julien Lowe in the TV series "The Shield." He also appeared on the show "Southland" and had small roles in the movies "Planet of the Apes," ''Boogie Nights" and "Forrest Gump."

Koch $uckers Threaten
Detroit
Americans for Prosperity, the conservative advocacy group supported by the Koch brothers, has launched an effort to torpedo a proposed settlement in the Detroit bankruptcy case, potentially complicating chances for completing the deal just as its prospects seemed to be improving.
The organization, formed to fight big government and spending, is contacting 90,000 conservatives in Michigan and encouraging them to rally against a plan to provide $195 million in state money to help settle Detroit pension holders' claims in the case, a key element of the deal.
The group has threatened to run ads against members of the Republican-controlled Legislature who vote in favor of the appropriation before the state's August primary. An initial legislative vote may come this week.
The group's move is a blow to Republican Gov. Rick Snyder, who proposed the state cash as a final ingredient to bring the 10-month-long bankruptcy case to a conclusion. Some creditors are fighting the "grand bargain," but it recently drew support from major retiree groups and unions. The bankruptcy court trial on the city's case will be held this summer.

Charges Lobsterman
Maine
Maine wildlife officials are pressing charges against a local fisherman for possessing hundreds of undersized or otherwise protected lobsters, calling it one of the state's most "egregious" lobstering violations in a quarter century.
Maine Marine Patrol said on Tuesday that Theodore Gray, 34, of Stonington had 269 undersized lobsters, and 123 whose tails were v-notched - indicating that they were protected breeding females that should have been thrown back.
Maine has strict rules protecting its iconic lobster industry, a major summer tourist draw that employs some 4,500 people and was valued at over $360 million in 2013.
"Through my 28-year career I have only seen a handful of what I would call extreme violations like this involving the taking of short lobsters," said Marine Patrol Major Jon Cornish in a press release announcing the charges. "In the last 24 years, there have only been two such cases, which make this one of the most egregious violations I have seen," he said.

Seeks Asylum In United States
Teenage Scientist
An Egyptian teenager who traveled to the United States to take part in a prestigious science fair has decided to seek asylum, saying he fears returning home after being accused of taking part in anti-government protests in Cairo, his U.S. lawyer said on Tuesday.
Abdullah Assem, who has invented eyeglasses for quadriplegics to operate computers and communicate with others, flew to Los Angeles on May 12 to present his creation at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, lawyer Farida Chehata said.
Three days later, the gifted 17-year-old contacted officials with the Los Angeles office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and expressed concern about returning to Egypt, according to Chehata, who is a staff attorney with the council.
With the support of his parents in Egypt, Assem decided to stay in the United States and seek asylum, said Chehata, who will represent the boy in his application. He has not yet filed the application with U.S. immigration authorities.
"It's unfortunate and it's very sad to see children with a lot of potential to do a lot of great things, to have that stifled by the government over there for whatever reason and without due process," she said.
