The movie comes in 2 parts for easy download in MPEG2 format ready to burn to DVD or if you want there is also a ready made DVD which can be downloaded so you can burn it to disc yourself, plus there is also the original audio which I've edited back into a seamless file, which is as it should be heard and can be downloaded as MP3, WAV or FLAC.
The movie is now seamless with no credits until the very end and is just under an hour long. There are also individual videos, some of which are a little different to the ones in the movie and they can also be downloaded.
I made the original movie back in 2009 but to be honest it was crap :1laugh: so if you have a copy, please destroy it :1rolleyes:
Introduced in Alfred Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, this song won the 1956 Academy Award for Best Original Song. What is the title of this ode to cheerful fatalism?
Paul Newman so despised the film in which he made his acting debut that when it was first shown on US television he took out an ad in a Hollywood trade paper apologizing for his performance. What is the title of the film Paul Newman called "the worst motion picture produced during the 1950s"?
The Silver Chalice is a 1954 American historical epic film directed and produced by Victor Saville, based on Thomas B. Costain's 1952 novel of the same name. It was Saville's last film and marked the acting debut of Paul Newman; despite being nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his performance, Newman later called it "the worst motion picture produced during the 1950s".
Paul Newman was apparently not proud of his performance. When the film was broadcast on television in 1966, he took out an advertisement in a Hollywood trade paper apologizing for his performance, and requesting people not to watch the film. This backfired, and the broadcast received unusually high ratings. The film is sometimes referred to as Paul Newman and the Holy Grail. Newman called the film "the worst motion picture produced during the 1950s", and once screened it for guests at his home, handing out pots, wooden spoons, and whistles and encouraging the audience to offer noisy critiques.

The Silver Chalice. Generally regarded as a Jesus-awful sword and sandal movie. The best that could be said about it was that Charleton Heston wasn't in it.

It's a truly bizarre film
The sets look incredibly stylized making the contrast with the few
outdoor scenes jarring. Jack Palance's portrayal of Simon the Magician
is scenery chewing akin to Charleton Heston on steroids. The movie is
The Silver Chalice based on the novel by Thomas Chastaine.

I had to Google this one, since I was just a wee lad in 1954, when Paul Newman got his acting career off to a shitty start in "The Silver Chalice." I've never seen it, but even though he was nominated for a Golden Globe for it, he wasn't at all pleased with his performance. I'll take his word for it, if only because I like his salad dressings.

It has to be that crummy movie The Silver Chalice. Whoever cast Paul Newman in that role should have been horsewhipped, lol.

The Silver Chalice (1954). My wrong guess was Left Handed Gun (1958). The Silver Chalice was also the film debut of Canadian singer, radio announcer and actor Lorne Greene, who went on to star in the TV western Bonanza as Pa Cartwright. I don't think I ever watched The Silver Chalice, as the film was judged tedious and has more or less disappeared. I guess its still available for viewing though, as it has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 13%, although it did win an Oscar for the score or the technical quality of the filming.

'The Silver Chalise'. Luckily, I've never seen it. I made it partially through the new 'Fantasy Island' movie. It looked good, but didn't hold my interest.
ps. It was cool to see BTTB Bob mention Iron Butterfly. That's a big fave of mine. Anyone else?

• Ellen Zwilich is the first woman ever to win the Pulitzer Prize in music; in 1983, she won for her composition Symphony No. 1: Three Movements for Orchestra. Afterward, she was surprised by the number of people who asked her, "How does it feel to be the first woman to win a Pulitzer Prize in music?" Her usual reply was, "I hope it's the last time gender is more important than creativity."
• Harlan Howard, Roger Miller, and Willie Nelson had a wonderful time one year at the BMI Awards dinner in Nashville. Each and every time a winner was announced, the trio would jump up and run to accept the award, causing mass amounts of confusion until the real winner appeared on stage.

• The pediatrician of opera critic Patrick J. Smith was very good at giving his own criticisms of bad productions at the New York Metropolitan Opera. He once stated about a certain production, "It needs a collective glycerine suppository up the rear."
• Louis Armstrong had cards made up with his picture on them - the picture showed him sitting on the toilet. Celebrity interviewer Joe Franklin says, "He was the only guy I knew who gave out cards like that."

• How did one get to be a member of the Beatles, perhaps the most famous and influential band in rock-and-roll history? John Lennon became a member simply by starting his own musical group as a teenager. He started a group called the Blackjacks, which became the Quarry Men, and through a series of personnel changes eventually became the Beatles. John invited Paul McCartney to join the Quarry Men because of his superior musicianship - Paul could tune his guitar, which is something none of the Quarry Men could do. George Harrison idolized John, but was invited to join the Quarry Men mainly because his mother was willing to let the Quarry Men practice at her house. Ringo Starr joined the Beatles after Pete Best was forced out of the group, allegedly for either sub-standard drumming or for being the best-looking Beatle. According to speculation, aka vicious gossip, Paul wanted to be the heartthrob of the group, and he felt threatened by Pete's good looks. If that is true, Ringo may have been asked to join the Beatles just before they became rich and famous simply because he could drum and had a big nose. Of course, the group became very big very quickly. When they landed at JFK Airport on February 7, 1964, for their first visit to the United States, their fans made so much commotion that the Beatles thought that either Elvis Presley or the President of the United States was landing at the same time.
• B.B. King got a lucky break early in his career in Memphis. Bluesman and radio host Sonny Boy Williamson made a mistake and agreed to sing at two different clubs at the same time, an obvious impossibility. Therefore, he decided to let B.B. sing at one of the clubs - the one that paid less. However, he knew that the owner of that club, Miss Annie, was tough and would not let B.B. play at her club unless he could bring in some customers. No problem. Sonny Boy knew how to make B.B. a celebrity in a hurry - he simply put B.B. on his radio show and had him play some music. Miss Annie and lots of potential customers were listening, and B.B. brought in a bunch of customers when he played at Miss Annie's club. Another early job that B.B. had at about the same time was selling a popular all-purpose tonic called Pepticon. He played his guitar and sang and then sold Pepticon. For a long time, he wondered why Pepticon was so popular, then he discovered that it was 12 percent alcohol.
Guess it was to be expected - a new trend in on-air reporting - masks with station logos.

Meryl Streep, Bernadette Peters, Patti LuPone and Audra McDonald are set to join an all-star line-up in a special virtual concert to celebrate Stephen Sondheim's 90th birthday.

Yes, Apple TV+ is rebooting Fraggle Rock, and if your immediate reaction is like, "Ugh, please stop digging up the beloved remnants of my childhood to capitalize on consumer nostalgia," we definitely feel you. But maybe-maybe-just hear Apple out on this one: It's not so much a reboot as a revival, and like the original Fraggle Rock, the new iteration features all your favorite Fraggle friends in their purest puppet form. Based on this short and sweet lil teaser, Fraggle Rock: Rock On! has also captured the joyful essence of its classic predecessor:
The first episode is available today for free on Apple TV+, and new episodes will drop every Tuesday. Produced by The Jim Henson Company, the new series consists of short weekly episodes, each about three to five minutes long, featuring Fraggle faves like Gobo, Red, Mokey, Wembley, Boober, and Uncle Traveling Matt. Taking inspiration from the real world, the Fraggles have found themselves separated from one another in various parts of their vast underground cave network, and it's forcing them to come up with creative ways to stay connected-with the help of the Doozers, of course.
It's easy to be cynical about another reboot, but it's not just the premise of Fraggle Rock: Rock On! that captures the joy of the original series-it's the impressive way in which the series is being produced, week-to-week, that also maintains Fraggle Rock's spirit of creativity and connectedness. The entire series is filmed on iPhone 11s in the homes of crew members all over the country, which is kind of amazing. This is seriously the kind of cozy-hearted content we desperately need right now.
Michael Moore has released Planet of the Humans, a documentary directed by filmmaker and environmentalist Jeff Gibbs and executive produced by Moore, for free on the eve of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. The film, which initially screened at the Traverse City Film Festival in August, is making its world premiere today on Moore's YouTube channel via his Rumble Media label.
According to the filmmakers, Planet of the Humans takes a harsh look at how the environmental movement has lost the battle through well-meaning but disastrous choices, including the belief that solar panels and windmills would save us, and by giving in to the corporate interests of Wall Street.
Moore and Gibbs say they decided that with the American public - and much of the world - confined to their homes amid the coronavirus pandemic "and suddenly having to consider the role humans and their behavior have played in our fragile ecosystems, the moment was too urgent to wait until later this year for the film's planned release."
Planet of the Humans will be available for free on YouTube for the next 30 days.
Counties where viewers of Fox News' "Hannity" outnumbered "Tucker Carlson Tonight" were associated with a higher number of COVID-19 deaths in the early stages of the pandemic, according to a new study from the University of Chicago's Becker Friedman Institute for Economics.
Although the two most-watched cable shows air on the same network, the study's authors analyzed transcripts from each and concluded that "Carlson warned viewers about the threat posed by the coronavirus from early February, while Hannity originally dismissed the risks associated with the virus before gradually adjusting his position starting late February."
The researchers surveyed 1,045 Fox News viewers aged 55 and older in April on their changes in behavior - such as with more hand washing, canceling travel plans and social distancing - in response to the virus. The study found that Hannity's viewers changed their behaviors five days later than other Fox News viewers, while Carlson's viewers changed their behaviors three days earlier than other Fox News viewers.
The study's authors then looked at county-by-county viewership of the shows and confirmed COVID-19 cases and deaths compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Accounting for "a number of unobservable dimensions that could independently affect the spread of the virus," the study's authors found that an increase in exposure to "Hannity" in comparison to "Tucker Carlson Tonight" was associated with roughly 30% more COVID-19 cases on March 14 and 21% more COVID-19 deaths on March 28. But the effects of the shows on COVID-19 cases began to decline by mid-March, the researchers found, after they detected a "shift in tone" on Hannity's show transcripts beginning in late February.
Summer Arctic sea-ice is predicted to disappear before 2050, resulting in devastating consequences for the Arctic ecosystem. The efficacy of climate-protection measures will determine how often and for how long. These are the results of a new study involving 21 research institutes from around the world, including McGill University.
The North Pole is presently covered by sea-ice all year. Each summer, the area of sea-ice coverage decreases and grows again in winter. However, as a result of global warming, the overall area of the Arctic Ocean covered by sea-ice has reduced rapidly over the past few decades. According to the researchers, this substantially affects the Arctic ecosystem and climate. The sea-ice cover is a hunting ground and habitat for polar bears and seals and keeps the Arctic cool by reflecting sunlight.
The study published in Geophysical Research Letters analyzed recent results from 40 different climate models. Using these models, the researchers assessed the evolution of Arctic sea-ice cover in a scenario with high CO2 emissions and little climate protection. As expected, summer Arctic sea-ice disappeared quickly in these simulations. Surprisingly, they also found that ice disappeared in some simulations where CO2 emissions were rapidly reduced.
The Scripps National Spelling Bee has been canceled for the first time since World War II due to the coronavirus outbreak, the organization announced Tuesday. The decision surely spells disappointment for the students hoping to participate this year.
The 2020 national finals were originally scheduled for the end of May in National Harbor, Maryland. The organization announced in March it was suspending the finals and hoped to reschedule at a later date. Now, the event is canceled altogether, as the organization said it has "determined there is no clear path to safely set a new date" this year.
The program, which began in 1925, had only previously canceled the national finals during World War II from 1943-1945, said the organization. The 2021 finals are currently scheduled to take place from June 1-3 2021.
From music festivals to major sporting events, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a wave of unprecedented event cancellations around the world - and Germany's Oktoberfest is no exception.
Germany's latest lockdown measures now include a ban on major public events until August 31. Although Oktoberfest was due to start after the current cut-off, Bavaria's state premier said on Tuesday the festival would not take place this year.
"Based on the current situation, I can not imagine that such a large event would even be possible at that time," Markus Söder told journalists. He added that he and the mayor of Munich had jointly made the final decision to call it off.
Oktoberfest is the world's largest beer festival and draws in 6 million people every year to the city of Munich. This year's festivities were scheduled to start on September 19 and run until October 4.
A Canadian woman who was shot in the chest has cheated death when the bullet was deflected away from her heart by one of her breast implants.
The unidentified victim took herself to a local emergency room after being struck by the bullet while walking down the street. She reported feeling heat and pain in the left of her chest and saw blood.
At the trauma centre, the victim was comfortable and in no distress, but had an entry wound above her breast with thermal marks around it indicating she was in close proximity to the firearm.
Sage Journals reports doctors as saying that she was 'likely' saved by one of her silicone implants, which lay over her heart and deflected the bullet's trajectory leaving her with just a fractured rib.
Three-dimensional imaging shows the path the bullet took, which was confirmed by removal of the implants. The bullet deflected off the left implant and lodged underneath her right breast.
