Presenting The Third Useo Finest Collection
By DJ Useo
I keep my mashup albums hosted from this page here
( djuseomashupalbums.blogspot.com/ )
At the very top are my previous two "Best Of DJ Useo" collections. They're the ones that people see first, and quite often they're the ones that most represent the kind of tracks I mix. At the rate I post them it was only natural that a third collection was inevitable. The ladies known as the Useoettes chose all the tracks, and the order in which they appear on "The Best Of DJ Useo-Volume Three"
( www.groovytimewithdjuseo.blogspot.com/2014/03/best-of-dj-useo-volume-3.html ) .
The collection has actually been ready for about eight months, but I held on to it for a special occasion. Now that occasion has arrived with the opening of the new AUDIOBOOTS mashup forum.
It's not unusual in the bootleg world for people to need to re-establish themselves about every six months. There's so many mashers that no matter what you post, it's the norm that the audience doesn't know you any more very quickly. With this new collection I find that many of the listeners don't know me, or the tracks included. No matter that some of the tracks reach back as much as three years. The good part is I get swell feedback from new people.
The tracks on this go from all kinds of rock to techno to pop to the unidentifiable. The audio preview track is "Piranha Cola" ( Eagles Of Death Metal vs The Prodigy ) and you can
sample it here
( soundcloud.com/dj-useo/piranha-cola-eagles-of-death ) There's also one track available as
a Preview video - "Life's A Gas Wid Nit Wit" ( Bang Bang Machine vs The Sabres Of Paradise )
Between those two, I think you'll get a very good idea of what's on the album.
As always, the download is free
( www.groovytimewithdjuseo.blogspot.com/2014/03/best-of-dj-useo-volume-3.html ) , so feel the benefit, and grab it soon. I won't object if you tell your pals.
Mix Of The Week
vipfm's "Titanium megamix (short version)" was mixed by jesus cadena bar the opening sequence. It's a great twenty-minute mix with tons of bootleg-sounding content. It's perfect for those who desire to dance.
Have a listen, or download from here
( hearthis.at/DTrHbNht/titanium-megamix-short-vertion/ )
Mashup Tip
Don't bother lying that you mixed a track. It will be discovered, and it won't be pretty.
Latest Useo Single
"Running Up Vertigo Hill" ( Kate Bush vs Aerotronic ) is a track I recovered off a broken hard drive. I actually mixed it about three years ago. It sure is a pleasure to retrieve it for you.

BartCop
Hello Bartcop fans,
As you all know the untimely passing of Terry was unexpected, even by
him. We all knew he had cancer but we all thought he had some years
left. So some of us who have worked closely with him over the years are
scrambling around trying to figure out what to do. My job, among other
things, is to establish communications with the Bartcop community and
provide email lists and groups for those who might put something
together. Those who want to play an active roll in something coming from
this, or if you are one of Bart's pillars, should send an email to
active@bartcop.com.
So - to let you know what's going on, the guestbook on bartcop.com is
still open for those who want to write something in memory of Bart.
I did an interview on Netroots Radio about Bart's passing

Bart's final wish was to pay off the house mortgage for Mrs. Bart who is
overwhelmed and so very grateful for the support she has received.

But - I need you all to help keep this going. This note
isn't going to directly reach all of Bart's fans. So if you can repost
it on blogs and discussion boards so people can sign up then when we
figure out what's next we can let more people know. This list is just
over 600 but like to get it up to at least 10,000 pretty quick. So

$1.3M In Vegas Lawsuit
George Wallace
A Nevada jury on Tuesday awarded $1.3 million in damages to comedian George Wallace for a leg injury he said he suffered while performing at a Las Vegas Strip resort in 2007.
The split decision in a civil negligence and personal injury lawsuit against the Bellagio Las Vegas hotel-casino came after two weeks of testimony and about 12 hours of deliberations.
The 61-year-old stand-up comic known to many as Jerry Seinfeld's friend had sought at least $7.1 million, but he emerged from the courtroom Tuesday saying he was happy with the jury award and would be glad to work again at the Bellagio.
He said he was stunned, however, that Bellagio attorney Paul Haire showed the jury an image during closing arguments Friday that included Wallace's photo alongside a caricature of what appeared to be a dark-skinned child.
Wallace told reporters he saw the cartoon image as a "black caricature with a pickaninny haircut."
"I just thought it was the lowest thing in my career. I'm sorry that I heard it in a courtroom," he said. "I'm not sure whether it affected the jury. But it hurt me."

Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time
Roger
Ending a three-week nailbiter of intense competition and rampant speculation, Logo has finally chosen a victor in the Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time. And the winner is….Roger from "American Dad" - take to the stage and claim your prize!
The cocktail-swilling, wise-cracking space alien from Seth MacFarlane's Fox animated series has been deemed the Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time, after a bracket-style competition launched by Logo TV on March 18.
Roger was bestowed with the honor during a double episode of "RuPaul's Deag Race" on Monday night, snagging the crown after beating out wise-beyond-his-years baby Stewie from "Family Guy" and "South Park" favorite Big Gay Al.
The initial field of contenders was crowded with stiff competition, and fan favorites such as Scar from "The Lion King" and resident "Peanuts" tomboy Peppermint Patty suffering early elimination. The Elite 8 round saw the further elimination of contenders Vanity Smurf and "Scooby Doo" stalwart Thelma.

Dress Donated To Smithsonian
Marian Anderson
For the first time, the dress Marian Anderson wore to sing at the Lincoln Memorial 75 years ago after being denied access to a Washington concert hall because she was black is going on display at the Smithsonian.
On Easter Sunday 1939, the classical singer accepted Eleanor Roosevelt's invitation to give a public concert and wrapped herself in a fur coat that cold day after she was kept out of Washington's D.A.R Constitution Hall. Beneath the coat, she wore a striking orange-and-black ensemble and carried herself with pride, historians said.
The outfit she wore to make history was uncovered among the late singer's belongings and put on display Tuesday at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History through September. Wednesday marks the 75th anniversary of Anderson's Easter Sunday performance at the Lincoln Memorial.
The two-piece concert attire is part of a collection recently donated to the museum by Ginette DePreist of Scottsdale, Ariz. DePreist is the widow of Anderson's nephew, the late music conductor James DePreist.

World's Oldest
Message In A Bottle
A message in a bottle tossed in the sea in Germany 101 years ago, believed to be the world's oldest, has been presented to the sender's granddaughter, a museum said Monday.
A fisherman pulled the beer bottle with the scribbled message out of the Baltic off the northern city of Kiel last month, Holger von Neuhoff of the International Maritime Museum in the northern port city of Hamburg told AFP.
"This is certainly the first time such an old message in a bottle was found, particularly with the bottle intact," he said.
Researchers then set to work identifying the author and managed to track down his 62-year-old granddaughter Angela Erdmann, who lives in Berlin.
The Guinness World Records had previously identified the oldest message in a bottle as dating from 1914. It spent nearly 98 years at sea before being fished from the water.

Art Trove Bigger Than First Thought
Cornelius Gurlitt
Around another 60 artworks, including pieces by Monet and Renoir, have come to light at the Austrian home of an elderly German recluse whose earlier discovered art hoard is suspected to contain Nazi-looted works.
The latest pieces were found at the property in Salzburg belonging to Cornelius Gurlitt, his spokesman said Tuesday, just months after the art world was rocked by news of a spectacular trove of more than 1,400 works unearthed at his German home in 2012.
A first inspection indicates there is no Nazi loot -- artwork that the fascist regime stole from Jewish owners or bought from them cheaply under duress -- in the latest discovery, spokesman Stephan Holzinger said.
The Salzburg-found works have been stored safely to avoid theft, the Munich-based spokesman said.

Accepted Subsidies
'Obamacare' Hyporitics
Several big corporations have reaped millions of dollars from "Obamacare" even as they support GOP candidates who vow to repeal the law. This condemn-while-benefiting strategy angers Democrats, who see some of their top congressional candidates struggling against waves of anti-Obamacare ads partly funded by these companies.
Among the corporations is a familiar Democratic nemesis, Koch Industries, the giant conglomerate headed by the billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch. They and some conservative allies are spending millions of dollars to hammer Democratic senators in North Carolina, Alaska, Colorado, Iowa and elsewhere, chiefly for backing President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., renewed his criticisms of the Kochs this week. In a Senate chamber speech, Reid noted that Koch Industries benefited from a temporary provision of the health care law.
Federal records show that Koch Industries received $1.4 million in early retiree subsidies. That's considerably less than the sums many other employers received. A Koch Industries spokesman said he had no comment on Reid's latest criticisms.
The Koch consortium may be the loudest "Obamacare" critic among the subsidized employers. But many others accepted the subsidies while heavily backing GOP House and Senate candidates, most of who call for repealing the 2010 health care law.

Tennessee's Meddling Liars
Volkswagen
Expansion talks at Volkswagen's lone U.S. plant have ground to a halt amid disagreements about the role of organized labor at the factory in Tennessee.
An acrimonious vote in February at the plant in Chattanooga resulted in the narrow defeat of the United Auto Workers union.
Since then, the union has challenged the outcome of the vote with the National Labor Relations Board; a top labor representative on Volkswagen's supervisory board told Chattanooga workers that U.S. Sen. Bob Corker and Gov. Bill Haslam "interfered outrageously" in the election; and the governor has suggested that the state has been unable to engage in negotiations with a VW official with final decision-making power.
State incentives for expanding the plant would have to be approved by the state Legislature, which is preparing to adjourn for the year in the next few weeks. But Haslam told reporters last week that there were no active talks with the German automaker.
The governor's comments came in the aftermath of revelations that the state's $300 million incentive package offered to Volkswagen in August contained the caveat that the money was subject to labor talks "being concluded to the satisfaction" of the state.
"Local Republican politicians such as Mr. Corker and Mr. Haslam interfered outrageously with the ballot," said Osterloh, who reiterated the company position that only economic factors would decide whether the plant would be expanded.

Anything For A Corporate Buck
North Carolina
North Carolina regulators are joining with Duke Energy in appealing a judge's ruling on cleaning up groundwater pollution leeching from the company's coal ash dumps.
The state Environmental Management Commission filed notice Monday that it intends to appeal a March 6 ruling by Superior Court Judge Paul Ridgeway.
The commission and Duke contend North Carolina law does not give the state the authority to order an immediate cleanup. Ridgeway ruled the state had been misinterpreting the law for years.
Environmentalists say the decision to file an appeal directly conflicts with public statements from McCrory suggesting his administration is getting tough with his former employer after a Feb. 2 coal ash spill that coated 70 miles of the Dan River in toxic gray sludge.
McCrory, a Republican, worked for Duke more than 28 years prior to retiring to run for governor. The nation's largest electricity company and its employees have remained generous political supporters to McCrory's campaign and GOP-aligned groups that support him, providing more than $1.1 million in support since 2008.
Though the governor directly appointed eight of the commission's 15 members, McCrory spokesman Josh Ellis said the panel operates independently of the administration. The remaining seven members were appointed by state House Speaker Thom Tillis and Senate leader Phil Berger, both Republicans.
