What Once Was Old, Now Is New
By DJ Useo
Zoot Boot volume two
"ZOOT BOOT VOL. 2"
( www.zootboot.co.uk/ ) is a new collection of vintage mashups and remixes featuring mixes from oki, pomDeter, Pilchard, G4Gorilla,,Shahar Varshal, G3rst, Michmash, and me. Pilchard, oki, and pomDeter deserve BIG credit for corralling all these tunes into one fine collection.
They had already achieved success in this theme with "ZOOT BOOT vol. 1", which people still savored from it's release a couple years back. Now, this new volume offers an upgrade tweak that results in even more memorable mixes.
Listen as big bootleg talent blends the past with the present to bring you the future. Oldie greats like Cab Calloway, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, and the Andrew Sisters go up against modern winners like Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, The Police, and Jimi Hendrix. The tunes that were created merge the best of all sources into killer tracks that raise the stakes the way the best mashups do.
This new volume was carefully crafted over many months, and it shows. On top of the super music, you get videos for nearly every track!
Find them all from this one handy link. I love the audio, but when you add the video in, there's major pleasure afoot.
( vimeo.com/channels/706255/page:4 )
An unusual fact regarding mashups nowadays is most people prefer to stream the music, rather than download. In light of that, "ZOOT BOOT VOL. 2"
has streaming links available
here
( hearthis.at/zootboot/ )
This type of project doesn't come along often, so take advantage, and absorb this new mashup album now.
You can even share it on social networks, if you please. We'll all feel the benefit.

Latest Useo Thing
'Mental Acid Witness' ( Mindless Self Indulgence vs Demir and Seymen ) is a combo of hard rock, and techno. It's deffo not safe for work. It abounds with profanities, along with incredible energy, and tunefulness.

BartCop
Hello Bartcop fans,
As you all know the untimely passing of Terry was unexpected, even by
him. We all knew he had cancer but we all thought he had some years
left. So some of us who have worked closely with him over the years are
scrambling around trying to figure out what to do. My job, among other
things, is to establish communications with the Bartcop community and
provide email lists and groups for those who might put something
together. Those who want to play an active roll in something coming from
this, or if you are one of Bart's pillars, should send an email to
active@bartcop.com.
So - to let you know what's going on, the guestbook on bartcop.com is
still open for those who want to write something in memory of Bart.
I did an interview on Netroots Radio about Bart's passing

Bart's final wish was to pay off the house mortgage for Mrs. Bart who is
overwhelmed and so very grateful for the support she has received.
Anyone wanting to make a donation can click on this the yellow donate

But - I need you all to help keep this going. This note
isn't going to directly reach all of Bart's fans. So if you can repost
it on blogs and discussion boards so people can sign up then when we
figure out what's next we can let more people know. This list is just
over 600 but like to get it up to at least 10,000 pretty quick. So
here's the signup link for this email list.

Skipping Rock Hall Ceremony
Linda Ronstadt
Health is the primary reason Linda Ronstadt will not be attending next week's 29th Annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Brooklyn. But, the singer tells Billboard, she's really not all that chuffed about missing it.
"I haven't given it one thought, I have to say," Ronstadt says. "It wasn't anything I ever thought about. I never thought of myself as a rock' n' roll singer; I sang it, (but) it's just one of the things I sang. I sang a lot of different stuff. I didn't go the last two times I was nominated for a Grammy, either. I don't have anything against it; you just don't do things for those reasons. If you're working for prizes, you're in trouble. There's nothing wrong with it. I don't mind it. It's just not anything I ever gave a thought to."
Ronstadt added that she hasn't spoken with anyone from the Rock Hall herself, quipping, "I don't think they have my number."
Glenn Frey, who was part of Ronstadt's backing band before he and groupmate Don Henley formed the Eagles. Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Carrie Underwood, Sheryl Crow and frequent Ronstadt collaborator Emmylou Harris will perform a musical tribute in her stead, but Ronstadt herself, who revealed her battle with Parkinson's disease last year will be elsewhere. "It's very hard for me to travel," she says. "I can't travel very easily. I have to save traveling for things I really have to do. I have to spend a certain amount of time visiting my family, and I have to spend a little bit of time doing things that are professional. But I just can't travel casually. it's too hard."

Sued For Defamation
Glenn Dreck
A Saudi Arabian man injured in the Boston Marathon bombings has filed a defamation lawsuit against Glenn Beck (R-Shameless), accusing the conservative commentator of calling him "the money man" behind the attack.
Abdulrahman Alharbi, 20, said in the lawsuit filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Boston that his reputation was "substantially and severely damaged" as a result of Beck's statements on the air linking him to the bombings.
The lawsuit, which also names the broadcast companies connected to Beck's show, seeks a jury trial and unspecified damages.
In the days after the explosions that killed three people and injured more than 260, Beck "repeatedly and falsely identified Mr. Alharbi as an active participant in the crimes that were committed on April 15, 2013, repeatedly questioned the motives of federal officials in failing to pursue or detain Alharbi and repeatedly and falsely accused Mr. Alharbi of being a criminal who had funded the attacks at the Boston Marathon," the lawsuit alleges.
Alharbi has been called a "murderer, child killer and terrorist" based on Beck's statements, the suit says.

Rock Stars Rail Against Crimea Campaign
Russia
While patriotic fervour grips Russia over its takeover of Crimea and President Vladimir Putin's approval ratings soar, some of the top names in Russian rock have emerged as among very few high-profile voices of dissent inside the country.
Those who have criticised the intervention in Crimea include several grizzled veterans of the perestroika-era rock scene as well as younger stars.
Among the most outspoken critics is Andrei Makarevich, a curly-haired singer who led the hugely popular Soviet-era band Mashina Vremeni (Time Machine), known for melodic songs about personal freedom.
"Everything that is happening in our country today -- the rabid propaganda, the frenzy of jingoism, even the Olympics -- are very reminiscent of Germany in the late 1930s," he wrote in a series of Facebook posts.
"When the mass psychosis ends (and it will), we will all remember that Ukraine is our neighbour and closest relative," he added.

Unindicted War Criminal Spews
Darth Cheney
In a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition's spring meeting in Las Vegas over the weekend, former Vice President Dick Cheney (R-Pro-Torture) slammed the "isolationists" within the GOP, defended the National Security Agency spy program and, of course, criticized President Barack Obama.
Cheney's remarks were closed to the press, but audio of the speech obtained by Mother Jones was posted online Tuesday.
"That we have created in the National Security Agency this monster bureaucracy that's reading everybody's mail, listening to everybody's phone calls, infringing upon our civil liberties and civil rights - hogwash," Cheney said lied at the March 29 event. "It probably would've allowed us to stop 9/11.
Cheney also commented on the crop of possible 2016 candidates, including Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul (R-Nepotism).

Judge Slashes Damages
William Koch
A federal judge has thrown out a $12 million punitive damages award to billionaire William Koch (R-1%) in his lawsuit accusing a fellow oenophile of selling him 24 bottles of fake Bordeaux, and reduced the award to just $711,622.
U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken in Manhattan agreed with the defendant, Silicon Valley entrepreneur Eric Greenberg, that the jury's April 2013 award was "exorbitant," being more than 33 times the $355,811 it awarded in compensatory damages.
Oetken also lowered those damages to $212,699, reflecting Koch's prior settlement with Zachys Wine Auctions Inc, reducing the total award to $924,321 from nearly $12.4 million.
"The jury found that (Greenberg) had shamelessly defrauded customers with 'garbage,'" Oetken wrote. "Yet his conduct did not cause a particularly egregious harm: he was dealing in luxury goods marketed to a sophisticated and wealthy subset of the population. The harm was strictly economic, and the victims were far from vulnerable consumers. These facts merit a relatively low award of punitive damages."

Yachter Welfare Fraudsters
Chisholm Trail
A Minnesota couple, who went on the run after being accused of claiming welfare benefits while living on a million-dollar yacht, has been arrested in Florida, authorities said on Tuesday.
Colin Chisholm III and his wife, Andrea, allegedly received more than $165,000 in food stamps and other public assistance over a seven-year period, a Minnesota prosecutor said.
Police in the Bahamas spotted the couple on Monday and told them their visas had expired. Authorities then escorted the Chisholms, their son and dog onto a ship bound for Fort Lauderdale.
The couple was arrested on arrival in Port Everglades, Florida, according to a statement from the office of Mike Freeman, a prosecutor in Hennepin County, Minnesota.

Buys Newspaper For Netanyahu Fluffing
Sheldon Adelson
The planned purchase of a second right-wing Israeli newspaper by a major American backer of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has some critics seeing a move to shore up his constituency as U.S.-sponsored peace talks with the Palestinians advance.
A Jerusalem court on Sunday approved the bid to buy Makor Rishon ("First Source"), which caters to religious-nationalist Jews including many in West Bank settlements, by Sheldon Adelson (R-Uncle Sugar), a Republican donor and casino magnate who already owns the free, mass-circulation daily Israel Hayom ("Israel Today").
Israel Hayom says it wants to expand in a newspaper market that, in the Jewish state as elsewhere, has been contracting in the face of cheap digital media. Both Israel Hayom and Makor Rishon say the latter paper will preserve editorial autonomy.
Yet the deal was deplored by Naftali Bennett, a cabinet minister whose ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party is a key member of Netanyahu's conservative coalition government and openly opposes the prospect of a Palestinian statehood accord.
"It saddens me," Bennett told Israel's Army Radio when asked about the Makor Rishon sale, which must still be cleared by anti-trust authorities. "Israel Hayom is Pravda. It is a mouthpiece newspaper for one person - the prime minister."

Offered Contingent Incentives To VW
Tennessee
An incentive offer by the state of Tennessee to Volkswagen was made contingent on the labor situation at the German automaker's plant in Chattanooga developing to the "satisfaction" of Republican Gov. Bill Haslam's administration, according to documents obtained by WTVF-TV in Nashville.
Haslam (R-1%), who has been a vocal critic of the United Auto Workers' efforts to represent workers at Volkswagen's lone U.S. plant, has long denied suggestions that tax credits, grants and other incentives were tied to the union being rejected at the factory.
But an Aug. 23 summary of a nearly $300 million package, obtained by WTVF, carries a disclaimer toward the top of the page: "The incentives described below are subject to works council discussions between the State of Tennessee and VW being concluded to the satisfaction of the State of Tennessee."
Also, Republican U.S. Sen. Bob Corker (R-Outright Liar) repeatedly claimed that Volkswagen would announce an expansion at the plant within two weeks of the union being rejected, despite denials from VW management that the two issues were linked. No expansion has been announced in the weeks that have followed the vote.

Stem Cell Research Falsified
Japan
Data in a widely heralded stem-cell research paper was falsified, a Japanese government-funded laboratory said Tuesday, as the lead researcher accused of the malpractice denied any wrongdoing.
The research from the Riken Center for Development Biology in Kobe, western Japan, had been hailed as a possible breakthrough for growing tissue to treat illnesses such as diabetes and Parkinson's disease using a simple lab procedure.
But significant discrepancies in research published in January in scientific journal Nature led a panel of scientists at Riken to conclude they stemmed from falsified data.
They said researcher Haruko Obokata, the lead author of the paper in Nature, had manipulated or falsified images of DNA fragments used in the research.
Obokata vehemently objected to the committee's findings.

Lying Liars Love Torture
CIA
The CIA misled the government and the public about parts of its interrogation program for years, the Washington Post said Tuesday, quoting a report by the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Specifically, the US agency hid details about the severity of its methods, overstated the significance of plots and prisoners and took credit for critical pieces of intelligence that detainees had in fact provided before they were subjected to harsh techniques, the Post said, quoting officials who have seen the 6,300-page report.
The paper said the report describes a long-standing pattern of unsubstantiated claims the CIA sought permission to use - and later tried to defend - excruciating interrogation methods that yielded little to no significant intelligence, according to US officials who have reviewed the document.
"The CIA described (its program) repeatedly both to the Department of Justice and eventually to Congress as getting unique, otherwise unobtainable intelligence that helped disrupt terrorist plots and save thousands of lives," said one US official briefed on the report.
"Was that actually true? The answer is no."
