Perhaps some of you remain unfamiliar with the Scissor Sisters, but in many parts of the world, they're well-known as crafters of pop singles, albums, & remixes. Such is the influence of the 'Scisstors' (as some fans refer to them) that many a fine mashup containing them has resulted. The first I remember hearing was DJ Earworm's 2005 cut, "No One Takes Your Freedom" (Scissor Sisters vs Beatles vs George Michael vs Aretha Franklin), a sweet little track that brought all 4 elements together as one.

Many more bootleggers joined in during the 3 years since then, keeping the Scissor Sisters heard often in the mashup community. I still enjoy TBC's "Mama Believe Me Now" (Electric Light Orchestra vs Scissor Sisters).

"DA-TAH! Scissor Sisters Mashup Album". The release features 20 tracks by numerous well-known & respected mixers. You'll hear fine tracks by Pheugoo, DJ Jay-R.& even the afore-mentioned DJ Earworm track gets a fresh face.
One of the stand-outs for me is ElectroSound's "Cherry Blossom Sister" (Scissor Sisters vs Air).It has a strong sound with successful merging of source tracks, & stands in fine company with DJ Matt Hite's "London Kiss" (Scissor Sisters vs Clash vs Adam Freeland vs Armand Van Helden). Not to slight any other, as there're plenty of tracks & variety contained, making "Da-Tah!" a sure-fire bet to contain future faves of yours.
Here's the full playlist to read over your breakfast.-

Andrew Tobias: Republican Bias in the Justice Department (andrewtobias.com)
... our wonderful Justice Department finding a pretext to send the Democratic governor of Alabama to prison for seven years (where he resides today, whisked straight from the courthouse in shackles). Even Republicans are stunned. Rove is the one who needs to be in jail, and Bush needs to pardon Siegelman yesterday.

Jim Hightower: HOW TO GET YOUNG PEOPLE INVOLVED IN POLITICS (jimhightower.com)
This supposedly "don't care" generation is engaged and taking charge. On Super Tuesday, the under 30 vote doubled in Massachusetts, tripled in Georgia, Missouri, and Oklahoma, and quadrupled in Tennessee. Also, CNN's ratings among young folks jumped 232 percent during that big election week, and MSNBC's young-spirited news coverage drew a 400 percent increase in these viewers.

Everybody pretty much called it in advance, nothing was certain until the very end. Joel and Ethan Coen's crowning achievement, "No Country For Old Men," toted some heavy Oscars Sunday night (for Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay and Supporting Actor), but the Academy spread the wealth.

North Korean officials have invited rock guitarist Eric Clapton to play a concert in the Communist state, a diplomat at the country's embassy in London said Tuesday.
The diplomat confirmed reports in the British media that Clapton had been officially invited to Pyongyang - the first such invitation to a Western rock star to the isolated nation.
Clapton's spokesman did not immediately return calls seeking comment. The Financial Times newspaper reported Tuesday that Clapton, 62, had agreed in principle and suggested 2009 for the gig.
North Korean authorities have long shunned rock and pop music, although Kim Jong Chol, the Swiss-educated son of national leader Kim Jong Il, is reportedly a huge Clapton fan.
The rundown Los Angeles bungalow where poet and author Charles Bukowski wrote his first novel was named a historic landmark by city leaders on Tuesday, saving it from demolition by developers looking to put up condominiums.
The Los Angeles City Council approved the designation of the brown stucco home, where Bukowski lived from 1963 to 1972, without further debate or a roll call vote, acting on the recommendation of its cultural heritage commission.
The hard-drinking writer, best known for chronicling his own seedy life on the streets of Los Angeles, penned his first novel, "Post Office," at the bungalow and city leaders say it was worth preserving despite its bedraggled condition.
"Hollywood is famous not because everybody has been a saint or a nun," Los Angeles City Councilman Eric Garcetti told Reuters last week. "It's always attracted complicated and important people and Charles Bukowski certainly fits that mold."

An Alabama TV station's outage during a "60 Minutes" segment about the state's former governor has stirred speculation that the blackout may have been politically motivated.
The lead item about former Democratic Gov. Don Siegelman wasn't seen by viewers of WHNT-TV, a CBS affiliate in Huntsville, Ala. The station initially blamed the network, but said Monday there was a problem with its satellite receiver.
The station's technical troubles began at 6 p.m. CST, when "60 Minutes" began, and lasted for 12 minutes. Pelley's 13-minute report began about 6:05 p.m.
WHNT aired the piece during its 10 p.m. newscast Sunday, received permission from the network to air it in full in its 6 p.m. newscast Monday, and offered a link to the full story online.

Charles Bock's "Beautiful Children", a best-selling debut novel about characters adrift in Las Vegas, is the latest book to be offered for free online.
Starting Wednesday, Bock's novel can be downloaded from the Web site beautifulchildren.net/read. The free electronic edition will also be available from such leading retailers as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com .
"I want people to read the book," Bock said in a statement issued Tuesday by the Random House Publishing Group. "If that means giving it away for free online, great."
"The book really struck a chord with readers as bookstore sales have demonstrated," Avideh Bashirrad, deputy director of marketing for Random House, said in a statement. "We believe it has even more potential readers out there, and the best way to reach them is online, with this unrestricted access."

Naomi Campbell was hospitalized in Sao Paulo for the removal of a small cyst, her publicist said. The 37-year-old British supermodel, a frequent visitor to Brazil who earlier this month celebrated Carnival in the northeastern city of Salvador, was treated at Sirio Libanes Hospital.
"Following the successful procedure, she is now resting and is looking forward to getting back to work. She would like to thank the doctors who have kindly looked after her," her publicist, Jeff Raymond, said in a statement Tuesday.
The hospital also declined to comment on Campbell's condition, but said she was admitted Sunday night.
Maxim magazine has apologized for publishing a negative review of the Black Crowes' new album by a writer who hadn't listened to the whole CD.
The review in Maxim's March issue gives the Crowes' "Warpaint" a rating of two-and-a-half stars out of five. The band posted an exasperated statement on its Web site last week saying the Maxim writer hadn't heard the entire album because advance copies weren't available. The Crowes' manager, Pete Angelus, said the magazine explained that its review was an "educated guess."
Maxim editorial director James Kaminsky responded Tuesday with this statement: "It is Maxim's editorial policy to assign star ratings only to those albums that have been heard in their entirety. Unfortunately, that policy was not followed in the March 2008 issue of our magazine and we apologize to our readers."
Kim Fisher, son of late treasure hunter Mel Fisher, displays a 23-karat gold bar after it arrived in Key West, Florida February 26, 2008. The three-pound bar, estimated to be valued at about $175,000, was discovered on February 23 by Fisher's salvage divers about 35 miles (56 km) west of Key West. The bar is believed to have come from the wreck of the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Atocha that sank in 1622.

A $100 million lawsuit claiming that NBC prompted the suicide of a former Texas prosecutor who was caught up in its popular sting series "To Catch a Predator" is moving ahead after a ruling by a U.S. federal judge on Tuesday.
Louis Conradt, a 56-year-old assistant district attorney, shot himself in November 2006 after he was confronted at his Terrell, Texas, home by police officers. They were accompanied by an NBC news crew that was there to film his arrest.
"To Catch a Predator," a segment of NBC's "Dateline" newsmagazine program, lures men to a house with hidden cameras in the belief that they are about to have sexual relations with underage girls or boys. There, they are confronted by the program's host and promptly arrested. In Conradt's case, he was expecting to meet up with a 13-year-old boy.
Critics of the show say it is a form of entrapment, and they have questioned NBC's partnership on the series with an online vigilante group called Perverted-Justice.
The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is seen Monday Feb. 25, 2008 in Longyearbyen, Norway. A 'doomsday' vault built to withstand an earthquake or nuclear strike is ready to open deep in the permafrost of an Arctic mountain, where it will protect millions of agriculture seeds from man-made and natural disasters. The vault is to be officially inaugurated on Tuesday, less than year after crews started drilling in Norway's Svalbard archipelago, about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from the North Pole. The vault has the capacity to store 4.5 million seed samples from around the globe, shielding them from climate change, wars, natural disasters and other threats.

Actress Rebecca Broussard was sentenced to five days in jail and three years of probation on Monday after pleading no contest to a drinking and driving felony charge.
Superior Court Judge Katherine Mader also ordered Broussard, charged under the name Rebecca Kelly, to perform 30 days of state highway cleanup, participate in a hospital and morgue "Scared Straight" program and undergo an alcohol treatment program, said Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office.
A second DUI charge was dismissed.
The charges stemmed from an August collision near Los Angeles International Airport.
An environmental group Tuesday said it had planted tracking devices on Japanese whaling ships to ensure they could always find the harpoon boats in the vast Southern Ocean.
Paul Watson, the captain of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society vessel the Steve Irwin, said a device had been placed on the factory ship Yushin Maru No. 2 which was boarded by two of his crew members last month.
Watson said other boats in the Japanese fleet had been tagged in a similar way but he refused to say how many or how it was done.
Watson, who has previously said the animal activists would again attempt to board Japanese ships, said his boat was about 30 to 40 nautical miles behind the Yushin Maru which he said was moving too fast to do any whaling.
Christian Hanisch, left, and Sven Manert, right, use a metal detector looking for buried Nazi treasure, before they begin drilling a hole in an effort to find the entrance to a cavern in Deutschneudorf, Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, some 100 meters from the Czech border in the eastern German state of Saxony. An unidnetified man believes he found the coordinates for the buried booty in a notebook among his deceased father's belongings says that a scan of the spot has revealed a large quantity of metal about 20 meters below the surface, and they believe it to be either gold or silver, based on the scan with a sophisticated metal detector.
