oki Struts His Stuff
By DJ Useo
For rather a number of lucrative years,
oki
( sowndhaus.audio/profile/oki )
has provided impressive bootleg tracks in voluminous numbers. His blends display the advanced taste of a skilled Deejay, along with the software training of a veteran bootlegger.
I've interacted with him many times, & have found him to be an intelligent, & aware person. Beyond his mixing, oki has shown sensitivity, & compassion that I find rare in the present world. I've called upon him countless times to be featured on various mashup compilations. He's perfect for comps because he is almost always currently creating, & he has the ability to deliver.
On
oki's Sowndhaus account
( sowndhaus.audio/profile/oki )
, you can find 120 swell tracks. They begin primarily with proper mashups, including a generous sampling of "Crumplbanger" (silly) style cuts, & progressively offers more original Electronic tracks. Currently, oki's in a wonderful period of self-composed music that matches the work of any charting artist.
You can find his complete new album "Post Trancematic Acid Syndrome"

“It’s been ten years since the release of her debut album NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU, and singer-songwriter Irene Peña remains on the scene, delivering a re-issue of ‘I Won’t Budge,’ a story of sheer stubbornness tied with a neat little bow of jangly pop sensibility. It's not far off from the dedication with which Peña has conducted her career in the decade since. Thought buying a stove would be easy.
There are floor models in the stores, but pretty much everything is 'on back order' - a wait of at least 3 weeks.
Gonna be an adventure in cooking for a few weeks, but I think I'm up to it.
#MeToo Movement
Martha Stewart
Martha Stewart is best known for making a business out of being a homemaker. But the 79-year-old didn't spend her life in the kitchen. In fact, the New Jersey native started her career as a stockbroker on Wall Street where, she realized anything goes when it comes to making money.
"We were the real thing," she told Harper's Bazaar, making reference to the film Wolf of Wall Street. "I lived it. I mean, every man on Wall Street was trying to get you. Every man was trying to touch you in the cab. We had martinis for lunch."
"It has been really painful for me," she told the publication. "I’ve known almost every single one of the famous guys that has been accused and set aside. Some were certainly guilty of a lot of what was accused. But some were — it’s just their awful personalities. I am not going to mention their names, but I know those people very, very well, and you know the man just talks about sex during dinner. That doesn’t mean anything to me."
And although her business continues to thrive, Stewart does have one regret.
"Saturday Night Live asked me to host. My probation officer wouldn’t give me the time,” she admitted. “That really pissed me off, because I would have loved to have hosted Saturday Night Live. I’d like that on my résumé."

School Renaming Effort Stalls
San Francisco
The movement to change the names of dozens of San Francisco public schools hit a roadblock Sunday when the board of education said it was canceling the renaming proceedings until schools reopen for in-person learning, a blow to activists in the city who came under fire from the right and the left for their renaming plan.
After years of discussion and committee meetings, the San Francisco School Board voted six-to-one in January to rename 44 schools in the district that they felt honored people with discriminatory legacies. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.; the naturalist John Muir; the Spanish colonizer Vasco Nunez de Balboa; and former presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were among the people the board felt “engaged in the subjugation and enslavement of human beings … oppressed women ... led to genocide; or … diminished the opportunities of those amongst us to the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The schools should find alternative names, the board said.
The backlash was immediate. The San Francisco Chronicle’s editorial board denounced the decision. Fox News and others said changing schools named for Lincoln and Washington was a step too far.
Pundits called it liberal overreach, woke insanity, cancel culture. But unlike the usual right wing reactions to progressive proposals, the school board also faced backlash from the left.
The city’s mayor, London Breed, a Democrat, joined the chorus of criticism in January, calling the plan “offensive” and a distraction from more pressing issues like getting students back in the classroom. “In the midst of this once in a century challenge, to hear that the district is focusing energy and resources on renaming schools — schools that they haven't even opened — is offensive,” Breed said.

Wrongful Death Lawsuit Settled
Vanessa Marquez
The city of South Pasadena has reached a settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the mother of actress Vanessa Marquez, who was shot and killed by police at her home during a 2018 wellness check when authorities claimed she brandished what officers believed to be a gun.
Marquez's mother, Delia McElfresh, filed the suit last August in Los Angeles federal court against the city of South Pasadena, its former police chief and multiple officers. The lawsuit alleged poor tactics and overreaction by police led to the actress’ fatal shooting.
The lawsuit — which also alleged unlawful entry, unreasonable detention, excessive force and violation of due process — did not specify the amount of damages sought. A legal claim that was a precursor to a separate lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in June sought $20 million. As part of the settlement, all claims will be dismissed with prejudice, the city said.
Marquez, known for her roles in the TV show “ER” and the movie “Stand and Deliver,” had a history of seizures and struggled with mental health issues. After a friend placed a call Aug. 30, 2018, requesting the wellness check, police entered the 49-year-old's residence in the 1100 block of Fremont Avenue and woke her, and she suffered a seizure in her bedroom, according to a police body camera video.

Faces Charges
Gerard Depardieu
French film giant Gerard Depardieu has been charged with rape and sexual assault, a judicial source told AFP on Tuesday, the latest in a string of such allegations against prominent figures in France.
Depardieu, one of the most famous actors of his generation, is accused of assaulting and raping an actress in her 20s in 2018.
The actress accuses Depardieu of having raped and assaulted her at his Parisian home on two separate occasions in August 2018.
Some reports have suggested that Depardieu and the actress were rehearsing a scene of a theatre play, but the source said "there was nothing professional about the encounter".
Depardieu announced in late 2012 that he was "giving his passport back" to protest against French tax rates, went into tax exile in Belgium and became a citizen of Russia which he called "a great democracy", regularly praising Russian President Vladimir Putin.

‘Hard To Watch’
Insurrectionist
Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley (R-UnAmerican) suffered fresh backlash online as he appeared at a hearing concerning the Capitol riot, which he is considered by some to have helped incite.
Mr Hawley took part in a joint hearing between the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and the Senate Rules Committee where Senators interrogated former Capitol police chief Steven Sund, former Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger, former House Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving and the acting chief of police for the Metropolitan Police Department Robert Contee.
Clint Watts, a senior fellow at the Center for Cyber and Homeland Security at George Washington University and a Foreign Policy Research Institute fellow, wrote that Mr Hawley "asking any questions at all is insulting".
Political scientist Norman Ornstein called Mr Hawley a "monster," and added that him "participating in a hearing on the police response to the insurrection he helped incite is a disgrace".
The judgement of Mr Hawley was harsh after he objected to the certification of the electoral college results, holding firm even after the Capitol had been ransacked by a Trump-supporting mob. Former Missouri Senator John Danforth said “supporting Josh and trying so hard to get him elected to the Senate was the worst mistake I ever made in my life”.

Are Your Eyes Lying?
Gaslighting
Republican senator defends pro-Trump protesters who stormed Capitol, falsely blaming insurrection on ‘fake supporters’
At a high-profile hearing on the insurrection at the US Capitol earlier this year, Senator Ron Johnson (R-Shameless Liar) on Tuesday claimed the mood of pro-Trump protesters who eventually stormed the Capitol had been “festive” before police fired a tear gas canister at them.
The Wisconsin Republican has been one of the chief promoters in Congress of discredited conspiracy theories that it was not supporters of the former president who perpetrated the attack on the legislature, but rather a small set of imposters.
Mr Johnson’s theories have been widely debunked and disproven by federal records on those who have been arrested for their roles in the riots.
Former US Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund confirmed his belief to senators on Tuesday that the most violent elements of the attack on the legislature had been premeditated and carefully planned out.
Gaslighting
‘Zero Respect’
Guess Who?
Texas senator Rafael "Ted" Cruz (R-Bad Dad) has been filmed scrolling through his phone during the harrowing opening testimony at the Senate hearing into the Capitol riots, less than a week after his controversial trip to Mexico.
The US Capitol’s three former top security officials have been testifying on Tuesday before the Senate Homeland Security and Rules committees about how Congress was breached during the riots on 6 January.
Steven Sund, who was serving as the chief of the Capitol Police at the time of the insurrection, gave a harrowing account of the actions of that day in front of the committees on Tuesday.
However, just after Mr Sund made those remarks, Mr Cruz was filmed on his phone, appearing to be either messaging or searching for something.
As Mr Cruz was filmed staring at his phone, Mr Sund added: “But none of the intelligence we received predicted what actually occurred.”

Coastal Migration Theory
Alaska
A fragment of 10,000-year-old dog bone found along the Alaskan coast could be the oldest evidence of domesticated dogs in North America, and potential evidence of a coastal route taken by the first people to cross into North America from Eurasia.
The evidence continues to mount for the Coastal Migration Theory, which proposes that Eurasian migrants, instead of traveling through an interior corridor between two melting ice sheets, hugged the Siberian, Beringian, and Alaskan coastlines. These settlers continued their way along the Pacific coast, eventually reaching the southernmost boundary of the massive Cordilleran Ice Sheet, according to this theory.
The Coastal Migration Theory, also known as the Kelp Highway Hypothesis, is supported by geological and archeological evidence, including 29 human footprints found on the shoreline of Calvert Island in British Columbia. We now have further evidence to support this theory, but it comes from an unexpected source: a domesticated dog.
This dog died approximately 10,150 years ago in what is now Alaska during the very tail-end of the last Ice Age. The lone fossil—a piece of a femur—is now the oldest confirmed remnant of a domesticated dog in the Americas, according to the new research, led by evolutionary biologist Charlotte Lindqvist from the University at Buffalo. The paper describing this discovery was published on Tuesday in Proceedings of the Royal Society B.
The canine femur fragment, designated PP-00128, was found on the southeast Alaskan mainland just east of Wrangell Island in a location known as Lawyer’s Cave. Lindqvist, with her co-author Timothy Heaton, a professor of Earth sciences at the University of South Dakota, conducted a number of excavations in the late 1990s and early 2000s, resulting in the discovery of this bone and many others from this same cave.
