• One of Chicago Sun-Times reporter Paul Galloway’s stories is about the time — 2 a.m. — he was standing guard in the Army. His Major sneaked up behind him and said to him, very clearly and loudly, “Sheep.” Mr. Galloway was puzzled by the word, but he stood at attention and said, “Yes, sir.” The major again said, very clearly and louder than before, “SHEEP!” Mr. Galloway realized that, of course, the Major must be under a great deal of pressure and therefore his mind had snapped, but he again said, “Yes, sir.” The Major, clearly angry, told him, “Don’t you ‘yes, sir’ me! Sheep! SHEEP!” Mr. Galloway said, “Would you like me to get you a sheep, sir? I will get you a sheep as soon as I’m off watch.” The Major shouted, “NO! YOU’RE A MORON! I DON’T WANT A SHEEP!” Mr. Galloway asked, “What would you like, sir?” The Major shouted, “I WOULD LIKE THE GODD*MNED PASSWORD!”
• Author G.K. Chesterton delivered some proofs to his editor one night. From his bag he pulled out his corrected proofs — and a bottle of port and two glasses. Unfortunately, his editor confessed that he did not drink alcohol. Shocked, Mr. Chesterton said, “Good heavens! Give me back my proofs!
Animals
• When the pet cat of Naomi, the daughter of horror writer Stephen King, was run over, she was very upset, so the family held a funeral for the cat. Mr. King’s imagination began to work, and he wondered what would happen if a cat — or a human being — were to come back to life. The novel he wrote based on his speculations got its title from a sign his children had put up: “Pets Sematary.”
• Frequently, silence in the wilderness, whether on land or sea, is a sign of danger. Gary Paulsen, author of Hatchet, knows a man who survived an attack by a great white shark while he was diving. Immediately before the attack, the ocean grew silent. Today, the man says, “I should have listened to the silence. I’d still have my right leg.
• Jerry Spinelli, the author of Maniac Magee and Stargirl, gets interesting letters. A boy once wrote to invite Mr. Spinelli to visit his school so he could meet the school’s pet duck. One year later, the boy again wrote Mr. Spinelli to visit his school so he could meet the school’s pet duck — but to hurry because the pet duck was getting old.
• One author who loved his cat was Edward Lear, writer of nonsense verse. His cat was named Foss, and Mr. Lear so loved Foss that in 1881 when he had a new villa built in San Remo, Italy, he had it built exactly like the old villa that he was moving away from. That way, Foss would feel right at home.

• Karen Cushman started writing books in her middle age, and she has certainly been successful. She spent a lot of time raising a family, which included reading children’s books to her daughter, Leah. When Leah started reading young-adult novels, Karen did, too, and she realized that she enjoyed this kind of reading. In 1989, at age 47, she told her husband about an idea that she had for a book, and her husband told her to write the book. (She had been talking about writing for a long time.) In a newspaper interview, she explained why she started writing when she did: “When Leah was in her last year of high school, I felt like this psychic space was opening up in my head. It’s that space that was filled with, ‘Does she have her lunch money? What is she doing this weekend? Who’s driving?’ All those questions were going out, and I had room for other questions, like ‘What if there were this girl…?’” Her first book, Catherine, Called Birdy, was published in 1994 and was named a Newbery Honor Book. Her second book, The Midwife’s Apprentice, was published in 1996 and won the Newbery Medal. The Newbery Medal is given to the best children’s book published in the United States each year. The Newbery Honor Books are the runners’-up.

Wonkette's take on what an entitled dickholeGorsuch is.
Totenberg adds that Gorsuch "has proved a prickly justice, not exactly beloved even by his conservative soulmates on the court." That's public radio-speak for "he's a raging dickhole."

Moves Ceremony To Las Vegas
Grammy Awards
The 2022 Grammy Awards will shift to an April show in Las Vegas after recently postponing the ceremony due to rising COVID-19 cases because the omicron variant.
The awards will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3, according to a joint statement released Tuesday from the Recording Academy and CBS. The show postponed its original date on Jan. 31 at the newly renamed Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles after organizers’ determined there were “too many risks” because of the virus’s latest surge.
For the Grammys, it was attempting a back-to-normal show with a live audience, but the decision to postpone the ceremony came after “careful consideration and analysis with city and state officials, health and safety experts, the artist community and our many partners.”

‘Weird: The Al Yankovic Story’
Daniel Radcliffe
Daniel Radcliffe (The Lost City, Harry Potter franchise) has been tapped to play musician “Weird Al” Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, a Roku Original biopic from Funny or Die and Tango that will be available for streaming exclusively on The Roku Channel.
Yankovic and Eric Appel penned the feature, with the latter Funny or Die alum set to direct, after helming a short film of the same name for the production company back in 2010. Production will kick off in Los Angeles early next month.
Known for pastiching and parodying the works of his musical contemporaries, Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time. A five-time Grammy winner, his 2014 release Mandatory Fun was the first comedy album in history to debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200.
Yankovic has earned nearly 200 screen credits since 1983, earning a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame in August 2018. He wrote and starred in the cult classic UHF and also notably hosted his own series, The Weird Al Show, for Dick Clark Productions and CBS back in 1997. He’s appeared as himself in everything from American Dad! to Children’s Hospital and 30 Rock, featuring more recently in Showtime’s Work in Progress, United Artists Releasing’s Bill & Ted Face the Music and the defunct Quibi platform’s revival of Reno 911!, which has now moved over to Roku.

Lara Logan
Lara Logan no longer is represented by UTA, after her comments in late November in which she compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to Dr. Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who performed cruel medical experiments on Jewish prisoners.
Seth Oster, spokesperson for the Hollywood talent agency, confirmed a Mediaite report that the agency severed ties with Logan.
As she made a guest appearance on Fox News Primetime on November 29, Logan said, “This is what people say to me, that he doesn’t represent science to them. He represents Josef Mengele. the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps. And I am talking about people all across the world are saying this because the response from Covid, what it has done to countries everywhere, what it has done to civil liberties, the suicide rates, the poverty. It has obliterated economies. The level of suffering that has been created because of this disease is now being seen in the cold light of day, i.e., the truth.”
According to an insider, UTA dropped Logan in December, with the comments seen as “offensive and vile.”
Logan was making an appearance as a guest on Fox News Primetime and is not a paid Fox News contributor. Her Fox Nation show, Lara Logan Has No Agenda, is produced via Warm Springs Productions. She has not appeared on Fox News since then.

Gorsuch
Neil Gorsuch (R-Unhinged) defied a request from Chief Justice John Roberts to wear a mask out of respect for Sonia Sotomayor, a report says
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who has diabetes and is at a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, has been participating in Supreme Court oral arguments remotely from her private chambers after Justice Neil Gorsuch refused to wear a mask, NPR's Nina Totenberg reported on Tuesday.
Sotomayor hasn't taken the bench this year amid the nationwide surge in COVID-19 cases driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant. The remaining justices have appeared in the courtroom for arguments, with each of them wearing masks except for Gorsuch.
The nine justices returned to in-person arguments last fall for the first time since the onset of the pandemic. At the time, none of the justices wore masks during oral arguments besides Sotomayor, NPR reported. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says either type of diabetes could make a person more susceptible to severe illness from COVID-19.
As infections began to spike recently, Chief Justice John Roberts "in some form" asked the entire court to wear masks on Sotomayor's behalf, NPR reported. All of them did, with the exception of Gorsuch.

Dedicated Years
One Day
The 30-year-old Brooklynite left in the early morning hours of Jan. 6, 2021, headed to Washington. Then-President Donald Trump and now a sore loser, had called his supporters to rally in protest of the election results, but Justin believed tRump had united his most dedicated followers for something bigger: the culmination of a secret war against an elite cabal of child abusers.
Politicians, Hollywood actors, philanthropists and prominent journalists would be arrested en-masse, he thought. President Joe Biden’s win would be overturned, the military would take over, and Justin would be there to see it all go down.
It would be a validation of QAnon, the far-reaching conspiracy theory movement to which Justin had dedicated much of the last three years with increasing intensity. The truth would finally get out, Justin thought.
The Judgment Day that Justin anticipated would, of course, never come to pass. Like tens of thousands of others who had subscribed to some piece of the QAnon conspiracy theory, Justin would be disappointed at the Capitol, as he was after the November election, and at countless other moments when a QAnon prediction went unfulfilled.
Unlike so many of his fellow travelers, Justin — whose last name is being withheld by NBC News at his request to protect his privacy — would ultimately crawl out from the dark place QAnon and his own mind had taken him. That would take time, and he needed help. But his story, which unfolded over the last year through in-person interviews and phone calls, illustrates a singular and winding path away from QAnon.

Body Double
QAnon
The former president appeared at his first rally of 2022 on Saturday, in Florence, Arizona, but some of his QAnon supporters are claiming that it wasn’t actually him, and instead was a body double.
The “Save America” event has been the subject of unusual myths on social media, including the theory that the man speaking at the rally, Donald Trump the oranged-tinged con artist, was a stand-in a “body doubly” or even John F Kennedy in a Donald Trump feral pig costume.
Other baseless assertions at the rally include Mr Trump the grifter repeating the claim that the 2020 presidential election was stolen. He also covered some of his favourite themes about “extremist” Democrats, the “fake news” media, and said “big tech” was biased.
Mr Trump The unindicted conspirator suggested he would run for president again in 202. “In 2024, we are going to take back the White House. We’re going to stage a comeback the likes of which nobody has ever seen,” he said.

Villa Fails To Sell
Casino dell’Aurora
A villa in Rome containing the only known ceiling painted by Caravaggio went on a court-ordered auction block Tuesday, thanks to an inheritance dispute pitting the heirs of one of Rome’s aristocratic families against their stepmother, a Texas-born princess.
Princess Rita Jenrette Boncompagni Ludovisi, formerly known as Rita Carpenter, woke up Tuesday in the Casino dell’Aurora surrounded by her dogs on what might have been the last day that her home of nearly two decades was actually hers.
An online auction organized by the Rome tribunal began at 3 p.m. and closed a short time later without a winner. The starting bid had been set at 353 million euros ($400 million), and the villa just off the famous Via Veneto was assigned a court-appraised value of 471 million euros ($533 million).
The house, built in 1570, has been in the Ludovisi family since the early 1600s. After Prince Nicolo Boncompagni Ludovisi died in 2018, the villa became the subject of an inheritance dispute between the children from his first marriage and his third wife, the San Antonio, Texas-born Princess Rita.
