Fab 4 Mashups 20 track album
From DJ Useo
Well, I've been mixing with the Beatles since I discovered mashups back in 2003. I love me some John, Paul, George, & Ringo. Pioneer bootlegger, & Beatles enthusiast MP3J was a huge influence on me, & there's actually a track done with him on this collection. Thanks, m8! I realized recently that I'm way behind on posting at the
Beatles Remixers Group Forum
( beatlesremixers.freeforums.org/ ), ( Many great posts from assorted talents! ) so I put together this collection of tracks I'd neglected to post at BRG, with a few new unreleased exclusives added.
Thanks to DJ Petrushka, AtoZ, & Chocomang for helpful advice.
You can also find my previous 2 Beatles mashup collections newly hosted hereabouts

There are years in which the list fills itself up to the mid-twenties or more. This year, I had to cut it down, arbitrarily, to thirty. Many of the movies on the list fall into the category of "independent" films-in the strict sense of "independent," rather than in the sense in which it's commonly applied today

At that point you'll quickly find yourself in a shitstorm of conflicting information about what "science" says is good for you. BartCop
Hello Bartcop fans,
As you all know the untimely passing of Terry was unexpected, even by
him. We all knew he had cancer but we all thought he had some years
left. So some of us who have worked closely with him over the years are
scrambling around trying to figure out what to do. My job, among other
things, is to establish communications with the Bartcop community and
provide email lists and groups for those who might put something
together. Those who want to play an active roll in something coming from
this, or if you are one of Bart's pillars, should send an email to
active@bartcop.com.
Bart's final wish was to pay off the house mortgage for Mrs. Bart who is
overwhelmed and so very grateful for the support she has received.
Anyone wanting to make a donation can click on this the yellow donate
button on bartcop.com
But - I need you all to help keep this going. This note
isn't going to directly reach all of Bart's fans. So if you can repost
it on blogs and discussion boards so people can sign up then when we
figure out what's next we can let more people know. This list is just
over 600 but like to get it up to at least 10,000 pretty quick. So
here's the signup link for this email list.

Republicans Set To Approve Continuation Of Committee
Benghazi
The Select Committee on Benghazi will continue to convene in 2015, over the objections of Democrats, after House Republicans pushed through language Tuesday to reauthorize the panel without giving any budget or time limits for its work.
The GOP did not allow for a separate up-or-down vote that would have permitted members to debate the continuation of the special panel. The panel cost upwards of $1 million to operate last Congress, when the House voted to establish it.
Serious questions surrounding the efficacy of the panel emerged in 2014, as Republicans pumped the brakes on their aggressive attacks in the run-up to the midterm elections. Seven formal investigations already completed have debunked the conspiracy theories surrounding the attack on the Libyan consulate that fueled the special panel's formation in the first place.
In a joint statement released Tuesday and provided to Yahoo News, the five Democratic members of the Benghazi Committee lamented that reauthorization language was bundled into the must-pass biennial bill setting up the rules for each Congress, effectively preventing debate on whether the panel should continue.

Solar Activity At Birth
Lifespan
In an unusual study published Wednesday, Norwegian scientists said people born during periods of solar calm may live longer, as much as five years on average, than those who enter the world when the Sun is feisty.
The team overlaid demographic data of Norwegians born between 1676 and 1878 with observations of the Sun.
The lifespan of those born in periods of solar maximum -- interludes marked by powerful flares and geomagnetic storms -- was "5.2 years shorter" on average than those born during a solar minimum, they found.
There was a stronger effect on girls than boys, it said.
On top of lifespan, being born in a solar maximum period also "significantly reduced" fertility for women born into the poor category, but not for wealthier women or for men, said the authors.

Loses Bid
Sirhan Sirhan
Sirhan Sirhan, who is serving a life sentence in prison for the June 1968 assassination of presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, failed to persuade a federal judge to set him free because he was innocent of the crime.
In a decision dated Monday, U.S. District Judge Beverly Reid O'Connell in Los Angeles said Sirhan "failed to meet the showing required for actual innocence" that might excuse his having failed to seek his freedom sooner in federal court.
Sirhan had filed his petition for habeas corpus, which could have resulted in his freedom, in May 2000.
The defendant was sentenced to death in 1969, but his sentence was commuted to life in prison after California banned the death penalty. Sirhan was denied parole for a 13th time in 2011. He is now housed in a state prison in San Diego.

Welfare Grifter Gets 21 Months
Colin Chisholm III
A Minnesota man who collected food stamps and other public assistance while living with his wife on a yacht valued at $1.2 million, was sentenced on Monday to 21 months in prison.
Colin Chisholm III, 63, pleaded guilty in November to two felonies, theft by swindle and wrongfully obtaining public assistance. The sentence handed down by a Hennepin County judge matched the prison time prosecutors sought.
Chisholm and his wife, Andrea Chisholm, 54, could have expected a sentence of probation under state sentencing guidelines. But Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman sought prison terms because of the severity of the economic crimes.
The Chisholms obtained nearly $168,000 in food, cash and medical care while living on the yacht in Florida and later in a lakeside home in an upscale suburb of Minneapolis, prosecutors said.

Hidden Battlefields
World War II
Deep in the forests of northwestern Europe, the ghosts of battle from World War II remain. These landscapes preserve troves of bomb craters, trenches and even the remains of supply depots - all of which have not been well studied until now.
These battleground remnants may shed new light on logistical support of German field armies and the impact of Allied bombings, researchers said in a new study.
David Passmore, a geoarchaeologist and lecturer at the University of Toronto, Mississauga, led the study. Passmore specializes in conflict archaeology, the study of battlefields and conflict in human societies.
There have been plenty of studies on coastal fortifications, large battlefields and the D-Day landings, but Passmore couldn't find any documentation of conflict in the forests of Europe.
So, Passmore and his colleagues conducted a formal archaeological survey of key WWII battlegrounds from June 1944 through February 1945. In particular, the archaeologists focused on parts of northwestern France; the Ardennes forests of Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany; the Hürtgenwald and Reichswald forests of western Germany; and the woodlands around the Arnhem region of the Netherlands.

More Toxic Than ...
Corn Syrup
Corn syrup was found to be more toxic to female mice than table sugar, shortening their lives and cutting their rate of reproduction, according to a study by University of Utah researchers published online in a scientific journal on Monday.
The research, funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, is among the first to differentiate between the effects of the fructose-glucose mixture found in corn syrup and sucrose, or table sugar, said University of Utah biology professor Wayne Potts, senior author of the paper.
The study showed that female mice fed a diet which contained 25 percent of calories from added fructose and glucose carbohydrates known as monosaccharides that are found in corn syrup died at a rate 1.87 times higher than female mice on a diet in which 25 percent of calories came from sucrose.
The mice on the fructose-glucose diet produced 26.4 percent fewer offspring than their counterparts on the diet containing added table sugar, according to the paper.
Male mice given either high-fructose or sucrose diets showed no differences in lifespan or reproduction for reasons that were not immediately clear, Potts said. He added that it is possible that both forms of sugar are bad for male mice.

Binge Drinking
Americans
It's not college students or teenagers but rather middle-aged Americans who are most likely to die from drinking too much alcohol too quickly, according to a study released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday.
An average of six people die each day in the United States from alcohol poisoning or excessively high levels of alcohol in the blood, which is typically caused by binge drinking, the federal study found.
Three out of four of those who died were between the ages of 35 and 64, the study found, countering the popular perception that young people are more likely than their elders to die from binge drinking.
Only 5.1 percent of the deaths were drinkers between the ages of 15 and 24, the study found.
"Contrary to conventional wisdom, there is a lot of binge drinking going on by people who are post college-age," the study's co-author, Robert Brewer, told reporters. "We were surprised by these findings."

Mystery Illness Finally Identified
Constance Wilde
Constance Wilde - the wife of 19th century Irish writer Oscar Wilde - suffered from a mysterious illness during the last decade of her life. A new analysis of her unpublished letters suggests that she most likely had multiple sclerosis.
The diagnosis, published today (Jan. 2) in the medical journal The Lancet, comes 116 years after Constance's death at age 40. At the time she died, Constance was living in exile in Genoa, Italy, with her two sons. They had left London and changed their surname to "Holland" to escape the scandal surrounding her husband's imprisonment for homosexual acts in 1895.
Constance - who was an author in her own right and a champion of women's rights - started experiencing medical troubles in 1889, with lameness in her right leg that forced her to use a walking stick, according to the report. By the 1890s, she was suffering from bouts of severe pain, especially in her arms, head and back. In a letter that dates to sometime during the winter of 1894-1895, she wrote, "I am alright when I don't walk, but then I can't go thro' life sitting on a chair especially with two boys to amuse."
Her mobility worsened, but the nature of her illness eluded doctors. She once wrote, in 1896, "I am tired of doctors and no doctor finding out what to do with me." The end of her life was marked by extreme fatigue, and the left side of her face became paralyzed.
These symptoms are described in dozens of private letters and other papers held by Merlin Holland, the grandson of Constance and Oscar Wilde. Researcher Ashley Robins, of the University of Cape Town Medical School in South Africa, recently examined those documents and concluded that Constance suffered from multiple sclerosis, also known as MS.

Department of Transportation Prank
Arizona Sasquatch
A photo posted on Facebook depicting what Arizona officials said may have been a family of sasquatches, attracting hundreds of comments from skeptics and believers alike, was just a joke, authorities said on Monday.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said there was no mystery about the image of several dark objects taken by a state traffic camera and posted on New Year's Day for all to spin theories about.
"We were just having a little fun," department spokesman Tim Tait said. "People don't expect government to have a sense of humor, and we definitely have one."
Officials put the prank into motion with a post that wondered aloud what the objects were off the side of the road amid the snowy landscape.
"We might have spotted a family of sasquatches on SR 260 near Heber this afternoon. What do you think?" the entry stated.

Francesca Hilton
Francesca Hilton, the daughter of actress Zsa Zsa Gabor and Hilton Hotel founder Conrad Hilton, has died in Los Angeles at age 67.
Publicist Edward Lozzi says Francesca Hilton was pronounced dead Monday night at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after an apparent heart attack and stroke.
Hilton in recent years battled stepfather Frederik von Anhalt over control of her mother's finances, with a judge at one point ordering von Anhalt to allow Hilton to visit Gabor.
Gabor is now 97 and requires around-the-clock care after health crises including a broken hip, a leg amputated because of gangrene, blood clots and other ailments.
Lozzi says Hilton worked as a professional photographer, actress and as a publicist in the 1980s.
