The two people without invitations that crashed President Obama's first White House state dinner, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, polo-playing socialites from northern Virginia, are now offering to talk to broadcast networks about it - providing they're well paid. The Virginia couple was looking for a payment in the mid-six figures range - about half a million dollars...
Are you interested enough in what they have to say about their exploit to watch an interview of them?
Meanwhile, two senators, Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) and Jon Kyl (R- Arizona), have called for criminal charges be brought against the couple...
Do you feel that the party crashing couple should be prosecuted?
At Hopenhagen there's a
map of the world showing a quote from each of the 1,745,537 concerned citizens
who have signed a petition begging the United Nations Climate Change Conference
to come to their senses, and a good petition it is, well worth signing. The form
shows a blank space before the words "gives me hope," hoping people will create
phrases like "beauty gives me hope" or "Viagra gives me hope" but the vast
majority of submissions don't quite get the concept, creating things like "Let's
gather together in peace gives me hope" and "what countries will get submerged
gives me hope."
LOL
Come to sign the global warming petition. Stay to make fun of others.
Paul Krugman: An Affordable Truth (nytimes.com)
History shows that cap and trade, a system specifically designed to bring the power of market incentives to bear on environmental problems, does work.
Froma Harrop: Working on Apps Not Abs (creators.com)
This is a nation of goose-necked children hunched over their electronics in front of a TV. They will turn into goose-necked adults with vitamin D deficiencies, the result of spending their sunny hours downloading songs in darkened rooms. Obesity will plague many of them.
Susan Estrich: Holiday Remnants (creators.com)
The last Thanksgiving of my childhood started out promisingly enough. It was 1969, and we were going to my parents' best friends' house. I had a crush on their second oldest son, and with luck (a lot of it), we'd end up in his room listening to Led Zeppelin. He was much cooler than I was, but I was who would be there on Thanksgiving.
LAUREN EDELSON: Taking the Magic Out of College (nytimes.com)
I'm about to ask about science research opportunities when he points to a nearby field and mentions the sport students play there: a flightless version of J. K. Rowling's Quidditch game - broomsticks and all.
Kirby Fields: MCA's Heavy News (popmatters.com)
This is more about the surprise I felt when an hour after my heart ached for my own mother it ached again in a similar way for someone whom I have never actually met. So I've spent probably months listening to the Beastie Boys. So what? This gives me the right? The short answer is "Yes. Yes, it does."
Michael J. Mooney: Wellington Resident Vanilla Ice Talks About Madonna, Wallaroos, and What's Next (browardpalmbeach.com)
"I was only going maybe ten over when he got me," he says. "He's asking me why I'm in such a rush. 'What's the emergency?' That kind of stuff. And he asks me for my license and registration. I pull it out, and he takes one look at it. He goes, 'You're Vanilla Ice!' I'm like, 'Yes, sir.' He's like, 'All right, well you drive carefully, and have a good day.' " His buddies chuckle.

Okay, In Quantum chemistry, calculations of interaction energies are susceptible to 'basis set superposition error' (BSSE) but what this had to do with, "Jonny Quest's home" is beyond me. Perhaps I am using the wrong acronym, but in any case, you got me today.
PS: The eye remains stubborn to healing which is common with diabetes - but damn, it's so frustrating...
MAM answered:
Jonny Quest's home base is a fictitious small island, presumably somewhere off the western coast of Florida, Palm Key. On Palm Key are several multi-storied buildings with flat roofs; at least one of these buildings serves as Dr. Quest's lab. Presumably others are living quarters and supporting facilities. There is an airstrip on the island, with associated hangars; presumably boat docks are present as well.
