‘Jeopardy’ GOATs Return
‘The Chase’
The brainpower behind this year’s hit “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” are returning to ABC to star in a new quiz show.
James Holzhauer, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter are back on ABC’s new U.S. adaptation of “The Chase,” a hit British format in which contestants face off with TV trivia titans. ABC has given a series order to “The Chase,” with a premiere date to be announced later.
The hour-long quiz show will be hosted by Sara Haines (“The View”), while Holzhauer, Jennings and Rutter will take turns as the show’s “Chaser” — described as “a ruthless quiz genius determined to stop contestants from winning cash prizes. Each week, new contestants face-off against the Chasers in a battle of brain power, challenged to think faster than they ever thought possible.”
Each episode will feature up to 166 questions, across all topics, as contestants look to win cash while playing against Holzhauer, Jennings or Rutter.

Last 6 Decades
Bruce Springsteen
As Bruce Springsteen’s new album Letter to You debuts at No. 2 on the new Billboard 200 chart, he becomes the first act with new top five-charting albums in each of the last six decades (1970s, ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and the ‘20s). Letter to You is Springsteen’s 20th studio effort. Further, Letter to You is the top selling album of the week, debuts at No. 1 on the Album Sales chart and launches with Springsteen’s biggest sales week for any album since 2014.
Letter to You bows with 96,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 29, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, marking Springsteen’s largest week, in terms of units, since the Billboard 200 began measuring in consumption units in December 2014. Of that sum, 92,000 comprise album sales, 4,000 comprise SEA units (totaling 5.37 million on-demand streams of the set’s songs) and less than 1,000 comprise TEA units.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Nov. 7-dated chart (where Letter to You debuts at No. 2) will be posted in full on Billboard's website on Nov. 3. For all chart news, follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.
All told, Letter to You is Springsteen’s 21st top 10 and top five-charting album on the Billboard 200. (All 21 of his top 10 efforts also reached the top five.)
Springsteen logged two top five sets in the 1970s (Born to Run, No. 3 in 1975 and Darkness on the Edge of Town, No. 5 in 1978), five in the ‘80s (The River, No. 1 in 1980; Nebraska, No. 3 in 1982; Born in the U.S.A., No. 1 in 1984; the live album Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band 1975-1985, No. 1 in 1986; and Tunnel of Love, No. 1 in 1987), three in the 1990s (Human Touch, No. 2 in 1992; Lucky Town, No. 3 in 1992; and Greatest Hits, No. 1 in 1995), six in the ‘00s (Live in New York City, No. 5 in 2001; The Rising, No. 1 in 2002; Devils & Dust, No. 1 in 2005; We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions, No. 3 in 2006; Magic, No. 1 in 2007; and Working On a Dream, No. 1 in 2009), four in the ‘10s (Wrecking Ball, No. 1 in 2012; High Hopes, No. 1 in 2014; Chapter and Verse, No. 5 in 2016; and Western Stars, No. 2 in 2019) and now one in the ‘20s (Letter to You, No. 2 in 2020).

Loses Libel Case
Johnny Depp
A UK court has ruled against the actor Johnny Depp in his explosive libel case with The Sun, saying that the tabloid was justified in its use of the phrase “wife beater” in a 2018 article about his relationship with ex-wife Amber Heard.
The judge, Justice Andrew Nicol, decreed that the allegation was “substantially true” in today’s verdict.
The 129-page court document concludes plainly that “Mr Depp did assault Ms Heard” in reference to the multiple allegations of domestic violence that were presented during the trial, declaring that the “great majority” had been proved. The verdict also notes that it does not accept the characterization of Heard as a “gold-digger”.
“The Claimant has not succeeded in his action for libel. Although he has proved the necessary elements of his cause of action in libel, the Defendants have shown that what they published in the meaning which I have held the words to bear was substantially true,” the judge’s summation reads.

Most-Viewed Video On YouTube
“Baby Shark”
YouTube has crowned a new reigning video as Pinkfong’s children’s song “Baby Shark” takes the top spot, becoming the video platform’s most-viewed video fo all time. The catchy number that went viral in 2018, has dethroned Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s earworm “Despacito,” gathering around 7 million more views than the chart-topper.
Besides becoming a viral sensation, Pinkfong’s “Baby Shark” has caught the eye of Hollywood players, with Nickelodeon announcing an animated series based on the video back in 2019.
The kids’ network revealed that it had given the series, tentatively titled Baby Shark’s Big Show, the greenlight. Executive produced by the Breadwinners duo of Gary “Doodles” DiRaffaele and Tommy Sica, the 2D-animated series follows Baby Shark and his best friend William as they journey on comedic adventures in their community of Carnivore Cove, meet new friends and sing original catchy tunes along the way.
Baby Shark’s Big Show is set to make its debut in 2021. However, before the 26 episode-series makes its premiere on Nickelodeon, the Baby Shark characters are set to make a big splash with a holiday special for this winter.

Seeks Russian Passport
Edward Snowden
U.S. whistleblower Edward Snowden and his wife are applying for Russian citizenship in order not to be separated from their future son in an era of pandemics and closed borders, he said on Monday.
Snowden's wife, Lindsay, is expecting a child in late December, the RIA news agency cited Anatoly Kucherena, his Russian lawyer, as saying.
Snowden, 37, fled the United States and was given asylum in Russia after leaking secret files in 2013 that revealed vast domestic and international surveillance operations carried out by the U.S. National Security Agency where he was a contractor.
"After years of separation from our parents, my wife and I have no desire to be separated from our son. That's why, in this era of pandemics and closed borders, we're applying for dual US-Russian citizenship," Snowden wrote on Twitter.
"Lindsay and I will remain Americans, raising our son with all the values of the America we love — including the freedom to speak his mind. And I look forward to the day I can return to the States, so the whole family can be reunited.

Cambodia's Ninja Gardeners
Angkor Wat
Stacking a ladder against the towering spires of Cambodia's archaeological marvel Angkor Wat, Chhoeurm Try gingerly scales the temple's exterior to hack away foliage before it damages the ancient facade.
The 50-year-old is part of a crack team of gardeners ensuring the kingdom's most valued heritage site is not strangled by overgrown tree saplings sprouting from the sandstone's cracks.
For two decades, Chhoeurm Try has made the treacherous climbs barefoot up to Angkor Wat's central tower, which rises 65 metres high (213 feet) above the archaeological complex in the northern city of Siem Reap.
Preserving the dozens of temples at Angkor Archaeological Park is a delicate year-round job taken on by the 30-member team.
The world heritage site contains monuments dating from the 9th to 15th century, and was Cambodia's most popular tourist destination before the coronavirus pandemic seized up global travel.

Allergic Reaction
Cold Air
A man suffered a life-threatening anaphylactic shock after simply stepping out of a shower due to his severe allergy to cold temperatures, according to a new medical case study reported in The Journal of Emergency Medicine.
Shortly after getting out of a hot shower at his home in chilly Colorado, the 34-year-old man was discovered by his family collapsed on the floor and covered in hives. He was promptly rushed to the emergency room where he was found to be in anaphylactic shock, suffering from a rushing heart rate, profuse sweating, and dangerously low blood pressure. The patient eventually recovered after receiving oxygen and adrenaline, also known as epinephrine, along with drugs to suppress the immune system and reduce the allergic reaction.
Anaphylactic shock refers to a severe allergic reaction in which blood pressure drops so low that the body doesn't receive enough oxygen. This kind of reaction is the result of the body’s immune system overreacting to a trigger, typically something like eating certain foods or an insect sting. However, it appears that this man’s body was, in fact, reacting to cold temperatures.
His family told medical staff at the hospital that he had a history of being ‘‘allergic to the cold weather.’’ The patient had repeatedly suffered from an unusual reaction to the cold after moving to Colorado from Micronesia, a region known for its tropical marine climate. In the past, however, he only expected mild hives after being exposed to the cold, a condition that’s known as cold urticaria.
To confirm the patient was suffering from an extreme case of cold urticaria, his doctors carried out an ‘‘ice cube test,” which simply involves placing an ice cube on the skin for a few minutes. As expected, his skin reacted to the presence of the cold ice. It’s not clear how common cold urticaria is, but it’s thought to occur in around 0.05 percent of people in central Europe. Most people tend to experience relatively mild symptoms, such as a red rash that disappears after a few hours.

Glow Under UV Light
Platypuses
Duck-billed, egg-laying platypuses just got a little weirder: It turns out their fur glows green and blue under ultraviolet (UV) light.
Under visible light a platypus’s extremely dense fur — which insulates and protects them in cold water — is a drab brown, so the trippy glow revealed under UV light on a stuffed museum specimen was a big surprise.
Biofluorescence — absorbing and re-emitting light as a different color — is widespread in fish, amphibians, birds and reptiles. But the trait is much rarer in mammals, and this is the first evidence of biofluorescence in egg-laying mammals, also known as monotremes, scientists reported in a new study.
Prior to this discovery, biofluorescence was known in only two mammals: flying squirrels, which are placental mammals, and opossums, which are marsupials, according to the study, published online Oct. 15 in the journal Mammalia.
Study co-author Allison Kohler, a doctoral candidate in the Texas A&M University Wildlife and Fisheries Department in College Station, Texas, had previously tested museum specimens of flying squirrels and found that all three North American species — the northern flying squirrel (Glaucomys sabrinus), the southern flying squirrel (Glaucomys volans) and the Humboldt’s flying squirrel (Glaucomys oregonensis) — glowed bright pink in UV light. Kohler and her colleagues reported their results on Jan. 23, 2019, in the Journal of Mammalogy.
