Comic actresses Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host next year's Golden Globe awards in Beverly Hills, organizers said on Monday.
The decision, announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) on its official Twitter account, means acerbic Briton Ricky Gervais will not be returning for a fourth time to skewer Hollywood's leading film and TV stars at the annual ceremony.
Fey, 42, creator and star of "30 Rock," and her former "Saturday Night Live" collaborator Poehler, 41, will host the gala dinner and ceremony on January 13, 2013, the HFPA said.
The Golden Globes is one of Hollywood's key award ceremonies ahead of the Oscars, which take place next year on February 24 and will be hosted by "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane.

It has to be the most famous pedestrian crossing in the world, immortalised by the Beatles on the cover of their Abbey Road album in 1969.
Situated just outside the north London EMI studios, the crossing enjoys listed status for its "cultural and historical importance" and draws thousands of tourists every year.
But a growing number of visitors hoping to take photos of themselves recreating the enigmatic, single-file crossing of the famous foursome are finding themselves in a very different part of London - thanks to a railway station.
Since the station was built last year and named after another Abbey Road at least 10 miles (16 km) away, tourists have been descending on the distinctly less glamorous east London neighbourhood of West Ham.
For the record, those thinking of visiting the real thing will find St John's Wood tube station a considerably more convenient starting point than Abbey Road.
Jamaica's government is honoring firebrand reggae star Peter Tosh 25 years after his murder.
Tosh's daughter Niambe received the posthumous "order of merit" on Monday for her father's musical contributions during a national awards ceremony. It's Jamaica's third-highest honor.
Tosh is one of Jamaica's musical giants. He was a founding member of the Wailers, forming the three-man core of the group with Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer. Tosh left the band in 1973.
His solo albums and his work with the Wailers helped make reggae known internationally.
Tosh was killed in 1987 by robbers at the age of 42.

Longtime former U.S. Sen. George McGovern, the Democratic presidential candidate who lost to President Richard Nixon in a historic landslide, has moved into hospice care near his home in South Dakota, his family said Monday.
"He's coming to the end of his life," his daughter, Ann McGovern, told The Associated Press. She declined to elaborate but noted that her 90-year-old father has suffered several health problems in the last year.
It was after a lecture tour last October that he was treated for exhaustion. Two months later, he fell and hit his head just before a scheduled interview with C-SPAN for a program focusing on failed presidential candidates who've had a lasting impact on American politics.
His daughter said he has moved in the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, where he moved in August to spend more time near his family. He had been splitting his time between homes in Mitchell, S.D., and Florida.
Mitt Romney has canceled an appearance scheduled for this Thursday on ABC's talk show The View, according to The Huffington Post.
Barbara Walters, one of the show's cohosts, announced on Monday's show that the campaign canceled the appearance due to a scheduling conflict and was unable to reschedule prior to the election.
Romney's appearance was to be a joint one with his wife, Ann; she will still be appearing on the show. In a leaked video made infamous for its "47 percent" comments, Romney had called a potential appearance on the show "high risk," because it had "sharp-tongued" hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, whom he mentioned by name. Those remarks did not sit well with Goldberg.

Former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan sued a disc jockey, the DJ's ex-wife and a gossip website Monday after a sex tape involving Hogan and the woman was posted online.
Hogan said in two lawsuits that he had consensual sex with his best friend's wife, Heather Clem, about six years ago in the Clems' home, but he did not know he was being secretly recorded.
The video was posted on the online gossip site Gawker. Hogan is seeking $100 million in damages from the New York-based media company, which declined comment.
It's not clear whether Hogan and Bubba the Love Sponge Clem are still friends. The Clems have since divorced.
Stephen Diaco, a lawyer for Clem, said Hogan was the best man at the Clem wedding and he is also a godfather to Clem's child.
A Roman Catholic cardinal has caused an uproar at the Vatican by screening a spurious YouTube video that makes alarmist predictions about the growth of Islam in Europe.
The seven-minute clip, called "Muslim Demographics," was the talk of an international gathering of bishops on Monday, two days after Cardinal Peter Turkson screened it during a free discussion period.
Turkson, a Ghanaian who is based in the Vatican and is president of its Council for Justice and Peace, sparked consternation among his fellow bishops over the clip.
Turkson could not be reached for comment on why he chose to screen the video during the Vatican meeting, where the bishops are discussing ways of winning back lapsed Roman Catholics in developed countries.
The clip, which has been viewed over 13 million times on YouTube since it was uploaded by an anonymous user in 2009, combines dramatic music with skewed population statistics to make claims about various European countries such as "In just 39 years France will be an Islamic republic."

Mark Hotton appeared out of nowhere this year, offering to come to the financial rescue of a fledgling Broadway adaptation of the psychological thriller "Rebecca."
The musical's producers had never heard of Hotton, but he managed to sell himself as a globe-trotting moneyman with connections to a wealthy Australian named Paul Abrams. That was before Hotton raised suspicions by claiming that Abrams had suddenly dropped dead.
Federal prosecutors charged Hotton on Monday with concocting a tale of phantom investors and an untimely death as imaginative as the classic Alfred Hitchcock film about a man haunted by the memory of his dead first wife.
Hotton, 46, also was charged in two other swindles - one targeting a Connecticut-based real estate company and another involving his wife, Sherri. They were arrested at their Long Island home on Monday and are awaiting an appearance there in federal court.
Amanda Bynes has pleaded not guilty to two counts of driving on a suspended license.
Court records show Bynes' attorney Robert J. Wilson entered the pleas Monday in Burbank, Calif., on behalf of the actress.
The 26-year-old's car was impounded at the Bob Hope Airport in September and she was charged with the misdemeanor counts days later.
The incident came after Bynes was charged in separate driving under the influence and hit-and-run cases. She has pleaded not guilty in those cases, but her license was suspended and a judge ordered her to stop driving until it's re-instated.

Wellington is planning to spend 1.1 million New Zealand dollars ($900,000) to mark the Nov. 28 premiere of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" at the Embassy Theatre. It's a fitting venue for the movie directed by Wellington resident Peter Jackson and filmed throughout New Zealand.
An intense advertising blitz, funded by Monsanto Co and others, has eroded support for a California ballot proposal that would require U.S. food makers to disclose when their products contain genetically modified organisms.
If California voters approve the measure on November 6, it would be the first time U.S. food makers have to label products that contain GMOs, or ingredients whose DNA has been manipulated by scientists.
The United States does not require safety testing for GM ingredients before they go to market. Industry says the products are safe, but there is a fiery debate raging around the science.
Dozens of countries already have GM food labeling requirements, with the European Union imposing mandatory labeling in 1997. Since then, GM products and crops have virtually disappeared from that market.
For more than a week, an opposition group funded by Monsanto, PepsiCo Inc and others has dominated television and radio air time with ads portraying the labeling proposal as an arbitrary set of new rules that will spawn frivolous lawsuits and boost food prices, positions disputed by supporters of the proposed new measures.

If you don't know what Agenda 21 is, you're not alone - only about 15 percent of Americans do. It is a nonbinding U.N. resolution signed by more than 170 world leaders (including Republican U.S. President George H.W. Bush) at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro as a way to promote sustainable development in the face of a rapidly growing global population.
A small percentage of Americans say it is an attack on their very existence - part of a grand conspiracy to take away their gun rights, destroy suburbia and turn America into a modern-day Soviet state.
At a local level across the country, conservative activists linked to the Tea Party movement have rallied around the cause of blocking development they say is part of the conspiracy.
Republicans at the state level have passed or tried to pass laws aimed at Agenda 21 and the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI), an international association of local governments. ICLEI was formed in 1990, and its promotion of sustainable development at the local government level has made it synonymous with Agenda 21 to Tea Party opponents. Activists have gone after the ICLEI in their attacks and the group has lost 29 U.S. members as a result.
Nurhaedah, a vivacious Indonesian cocoa trader, shakes her head in disappointment as she sifts through a pile of blackened, shrivelled beans. Yet another crop from "Frankentrees": weak, misshapen cocoa trees toppling under their own weight.
A $350-million campaign to boost cocoa yields in Indonesia, the world's third largest producer of the commodity, is turning sour as farmers send streams of poor-quality beans plucked from the defective trees to a collecting centre Nurhaedah runs.
The technique called somatic embryogenesis, or SE, was invented to produce high-yielding, disease-resistant seeds. A success in Ecuador in the early 2000s, it had never been used on a large scale until Indonesia adopted it in 2009.
But in Indonesia, farmers say, it has produced trees that are a metre taller than usual with extra branches, which need support from stakes tied to their trunks to keep upright, yet are still prone to disease.
The trees have been producing elongated cocoa pods in strange orange-red hues, compared to the usual reddish-purple.
It's been almost two centuries since his death, yet French writer the Marquis de Sade has lost none of his ability to trigger moral debate.
In Asia, South Korea has lifted a monthlong ban on his graphic novel "120 Days of Sodom" after a national censorship board gave the book another read.
The book, which follows four rich French libertines through orgies, pedophilia and rape, was written in Paris in 1785 but remained unpublished until the early 1900s.
It hit South Korean bookshelves in August after a Korean translation was published - more than 220 years after Sade penned the original manuscript. The novel, accused by Seoul authorities of "triggering ... violent excitement," was banned Sept. 6 by the country's Publication Ethics Commission from publication and was recalled from stores nationwide.
But following an outcry from the publisher over freedom of expression, the commission reread the book. In a meeting with Korean academics and novelists, they recognized its literary value and lifted the ban on Oct. 11.
