Woman's life (YouTube)
"Seok Jeong Hyeon, a Korean artist, used illustration software to create a portrait of a woman. He first showed her as a newborn baby, then updated her as she grew up. By the end of this time-lapse video, she's an old woman. The visual effect is impressive." - Neatorama
David Bruce: Wise Up! Music (Athens News)
Once, while in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Henry Rollins went to a used record store and heard a man tell a woman, "This place is great! I found the first Black Flag album for three bucks last week!" The woman replied, "Three bucks? I'll give you mine for free!" And once he attended a Grateful Dead concert that he enjoyed very much - even the police officers were enjoying themselves and throwing Frisbees. One police officer looked at Mr. Rollins' tattoos and said, "Nice tattoos. If you ever get bored, you can read yourself!"
Eartha Mae Kitt (January 17, 1927 - December 25, 2008) was an American actress, singer, cabaret star, dancer, stand-up comedienne, activist and voice artist, known for her highly distinctive singing style and her 1953 recordings of "C'est Si Bon" and the enduring Christmas novelty smash "Santa Baby", which were both US Top 10 hits. Orson Welles once called her the "most exciting woman in the world".
In 1968, during Lyndon B. Johnson's administration, Kitt encountered a substantial professional setback after she made anti-war statements during a White House luncheon. Kitt was invited to the White House luncheon and was asked by Lady Bird Johnson about the Vietnam War. She replied: "You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed. No wonder the kids rebel and take pot."
Her remarks reportedly caused Mrs. Johnson to burst into tears and led to a derailment in Kitt's career. The public reaction to Kitt's statements was extreme, both pro and con. Publicly ostracized in the US, she devoted her energies to performances in Europe and Asia. It is said that Kitt's career in the US was ended following her comments about the Vietnam War, after which she was branded "a sadistic nymphomaniac" by the CIA.

George M replied:
If my memory serves me correctly, it was Eartha Kitt who made those remarks - Eartha Kitt, who Orson Welles called "the most exciting woman in the world"; Eartha Kitt, who, for my money, will always be the best Catwoman!

Eartha Kitt told Lady Bird (just another Shithead Texan name) Johnson "You send the best of this country off to be shot and maimed. No wonder the kids rebel and take pot." She spoke out against Racism and Imperialism. She was on the CIA's radar since 1956. Branded as "a sadistic nymphomaniac". My kind of woman!
Fire Update… One resident who has been helping carve fire lines with his bulldozer told the Sacramento Bee he lost his home on White Meadows Road when he went to check on it Friday. "My house got burned. My house is gone. My outbuildings are gone," Tom said. "I just wish I'd been here." Tommy is my Hillbilly cousin. He moved out of the Bay Area in 1976 because he couldn't stand how the N*****S were taking over. He hasn't talked to me or his Aunt (my mom) since he found out she voted for Obama. Figures he was off playing with his fucking bulldozer while his house, barn and shop burned down. Ahhhh……Kinfolk!!! Oh, and of course no insurance!

that caused a stir. I didn't know she made Lady Bird cry. But it's got be:

mj replied:
My second favorite Catwoman
Eartha Kitt.
DJ Useo responded:
I love that she did that. That person was the unflappable Eartha ( Mae ) Kitt aka Miss Kitt. ( really! )
Her given name was Keith, not Kitt.
I also heard she once beat up two U.S. Generals, & a jeep, but I put less faith in that story.

As you all know the untimely passing of Terry was unexpected, even by
him. We all knew he had cancer but we all thought he had some years
left. So some of us who have worked closely with him over the years are
scrambling around trying to figure out what to do. My job, among other
things, is to establish communications with the Bartcop community and
provide email lists and groups for those who might put something
together. Those who want to play an active roll in something coming from

Bart's final wish was to pay off the house mortgage for Mrs. Bart who is

Reporter Charlo Greene quit on-air during KTVA-TV's 10 p.m. newscast Sunday, revealing herself as the owner of the medical marijuana business Alaska Cannabis Club and telling viewers that she would be using all of her energy to fight for legalizing marijuana in Alaska.
Greene had reported on the Alaska Cannabis Club during Sunday night's broadcast, without revealing her connection to it. At the end of the report, during a live shot, she announced that she was the club's owner and would be quitting.
"Now everything you've heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska," she said. "And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, fuck it, I quit."
And with that, she walked off camera.
Reached later, Greene said KTVA had no idea she was going to quit, or that she was connected to the Alaska Cannabis Club.

Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore no longer will serve on the Michigan Film Office Advisory Council.
Republican Gov. Rick Snyder has named a suburban-Detroit businessman to replace Moore, who had joined the council as an appointee of then-Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat.
Snyder announced Thursday he was renominating a second council member whose term expires along with Moore's. The governor says advertising executive Bill Ludwig will remain on the 14-member board, along with new member Ted Serbinski. Serbinski works with Detroit Venture Partners and is a former director of technology for A&E Television. Their four-year terms expire in 2018.
Moore won an Academy Award for the 2002 documentary Bowling for Columbine. Other Moore films include Roger & Me, Fahrenheit 9/11, Sicko and Capitalism: A Love Story.
Nunavut-reared throat singer Tanya Tagaq claimed the $30,000 Polaris Music Prize on Monday, just moments after mesmerizing the gala crowd with a show-stealing performance aided by a choir.
Tagaq's record "Animism" beat out higher-profile offerings from the likes of Drake and past winners Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett to claim the award, given to the best Canadian album of the past year as determined by a group of journalists.
After thanking her producer and family, Tagaq shifted into an impassioned "side note."

The number of homeless school children is rising in U.S. schools.
Education Department statistics released Monday say 1.3 million homeless children were enrolled in U.S. schools in the 2012-2013 school year - an 8 percent increase from the previous school year.
A vast majority of the homeless children were living in "doubled-up" quarters, meaning multiple families were living together not by choice. About 70,000 were identified as living in a hotel or motel.
In addition, school districts reported that nearly 76,000 of these students were living on their own, such as runaways.
The statistics likely underestimate the true number of homeless kids. They don't include homeless infants, toddlers, young children not enrolled in public preschool programs or homeless children not identified by schools officials.
Billionaire, reality star, and perennial possible candidate for a series of political jobs Donald J. Trump (R-Hair Hat) isn't quite sure how congressional leadership works, but he definitely thinks Sen. Mitch McConnell should be in charge of something.
Trump dipped his toes into the close Senate race in Kentucky between incumbent McConnell and Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes. The problem is, he nominated McConnell for a job he probably doesn't want - speaker of the House:
The Senate, the body McConnell is in, has a majority leader. That's Democrat Harry Reid's job. The leader of the majority party in the House is the speaker.
The first reaction to this is that Trump is maybe not familiar enough with the way our political system works to be endorsing candidates. At the same time, technically the Constitution doesn't require that the Speaker of the House be a member of the House of Representatives. But in that case, McConnell's best bet would be to lose his seat this November.

St. Louis County police apologized Monday for the wording of a flier announcing a seminar to help officers interact with the media.
The flier on county letterhead says topics of the Oct. 24 program at the St. Louis County and Municipal Police Academy will include "Feeding the Animals" and "Meet the 900-pound Gorilla." Some community activists and others have posted about the flier on social media, saying the "gorilla" and "animals" references have racial overtones.
St. Louis County police spokesman Brian Schellman and seminar leader Rick Rosenthal say the terms are not meant to be racial. The seminar follows the fatal Aug. 9 police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson. Brown was black; the officer who killed him is white.
Rosenthal, a former anchor for WGN-TV in Chicago, said the "gorilla" and "animals" references are tongue-in-cheek phrases aimed at the media. His 1999 book, "Feeding the Animals," deals with how police departments give information to reporters.
Rosenthal, president of Winnetka, Illinois-based RAR Communications, has run the consulting firm for nearly 20 years and has led hundreds of similar training sessions for police in several states. He has led classes about dealing with the media in St. Louis County nearly every year since 2002.

The UN's Palestinian refugee agency on Sunday urged the international community to oppose Israeli plans to relocate thousands of Palestinian Bedouin from the central West Bank.
"If such a plan were implemented this would ... give rise to concerns that it amounts to a 'forcible transfer' in contravention of the Fourth Geneva Convention," banning involuntary population relocation in occupied territory, UNRWA Commissioner General Pierre Krahenbuhl said.
The Israeli military's department responsible for civil affairs in the occupied West Bank said there were various plans to rehouse Bedouin and they were being conducted in consultation with community leaders.
But Haaretz newspaper said an original scheme to relocate one tribe had grown to a plan to move about 12,500 Bedouin from the Jahalin, Kaabneh and Rashaida tribes, without the level of dialogue recommended by the Israeli Supreme Court.
"The plans were drafted without consulting the Bedouin slated to live there," the paper said.
The senior senator who once told New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand not to lose "too much weight" because he liked his girls "chubby" was the late Hawaii Sen. Daniel K. Inouye, the New York Times reports.
In a memoir published earlier this month, Gillibrand revealed that some of her male colleagues in Congress felt free to comment about her weight.
The 47-year-old did not reveal the names of her boorish colleagues in the book, but the Times reports that particular exchange was with Inouye.
For her part, Gillibrand told People she wasn't offended by the comments.
"It was all statements that were being made by men who were well into their 60s, 70s or 80s," Gillibrand said. "They had no clue that those are inappropriate things to say to a pregnant woman or a woman who just had a baby or to women in general."

The Rockefellers, who made their vast fortune on oil, and other philanthropies and high-wealth individuals on Monday will announce pledges to divest a total of $50 billion from fossil fuel investments.
The Global Divest-Invest coalition will announce new pledges and members one day before 120 heads of state address the United Nations on how their countries will contribute to a global effort to halt a dangerous rise in temperatures.
Since the divestment movement launched three years ago, some 650 individuals and 180 institutions, including 50 new foundations, which hold over $50 billion in total assets, pledged to divest from fossil fuels over five years using a variety of approaches.
One of the higher profile education institution divestments came in May, when Stanford University said it will no longer use any of its $18.7 billion endowment to invest in coal mining companies.
The University of California voted last week to maintain its investments in fossil fuels, frustrating a student-led effort to divest its portfolio in oil, natural gas and coal.
Eric "The Actor" Lynch, the diminutive member of Howard Stern's "Wack Pack," who for years launched into comical, frequently foul-mouthed rants during calls to Stern's radio show, has died in California. He was 39.
Lynch's longtime friend Johnny Fratto says he died Friday at a Sacramento hospital with family by his side.
Lynch, who was just 3 feet tall, suffered for years from numerous health problems related to his height.
He began calling Stern 12 years ago, initially to protest that the shock jock had ridiculed "American Idol" winner Kelly Clarkson as fat.
As the calls persisted, an unlikely friendship blossomed between the men.
Stern had Lynch on his show frequently, introduced him to celebrities and helped get him movie and TV parts.
