Lady Gaga has surpassed Britney Spears as the most followed person on Twitter - for now.
She has more than 5.7 million followers. She overtook Spears over the weekend and posted a video late Saturday on YouTube.
Gaga called her fans her "little monsters" as she thanked them for beginning "my reign as Twitter queen."
Spears, Ashton Kutcher, Ellen DeGeneres and an account run by President Barack Obama's political organization, Organizing for America, all have more than 5 million followers.

Returns To Theaters
"Avatar"
James Cameron's sci-fi epic "Avatar" revisits global multiplexes this weekend in a quest to pad its record $2.74 billion worldwide box office and hype DVD and Blu-ray Disc special editions planned for the fall. In fact, the theatrical rerelease is billed as a "special edition" of the eco-themed fantasy based on an extra 8-1/2 minutes of footage featuring additional action segments and other scenes.
The 2D DVD and Blu-ray Disc special editions expected to hit store shelves in November will feature at least 16 minutes of extra "Avatar" footage, a source told The Hollywood Reporter. A 3D version of the movie won't be available for home entertainment until next year.
"Avatar" producer Jon Landau said in an interview that new scenes included in the now 171-minute theatrical special edition involve action sequences and narrative-deepening extensions of key scenes involving the blue-skinned Na'vi of Pandora and their human visitors.
"Avatar" originally bowed in 2D and 3D on December 18, but the theatrical special edition will be shown only in 3D venues.

Finishes Shooting Film
Vaclav Havel
Former President Vaclav Havel has finished shooting his first and probably last film.
Havel spokeswoman Ivana Reichlova says the former dissident playwright and post-communist Czechoslovakia's first president finished on-location camera work on the film on Saturday.
The film is a cinematic version of "Leaving," a Havel play that was staged two years ago. His actress wife, Dagmar, plays the leading female role.
The daily Mlada Fronta Dnes on Monday quoted Havel as saying the film will probably also be his last one.

DEA Seeks Translators
Ebonics
Federal agents are seeking to hire Ebonics translators to help interpret wiretapped conversations involving targets of undercover drug investigations.
The Drug Enforcement Agency recently sent memos asking companies that provide translation services to help it find nine translators in the Southeast who are fluent in Ebonics, Special Agent Michael Sanders said Monday.
Ebonics, which is also known as African American Vernacular English, has been described by the psychologist who coined the term as the combination of English vocabulary with African language structure.
The search for translators covers a wide swath of the Southeast, including offices in Atlanta, Washington, New Orleans, Miami and the Caribbean, said Sanders. He said he's uncertain why other regions aren't hiring Ebonics translators, but said there are ongoing investigations in the Southeast that need dedicated Ebonics translators.

Dolphin Hunts
As children in inner tubes bob on the calm waters of this small ocean cove, a 550-pound (250-kilogram) dolphin zips through the crowd in pursuit of raw squid tossed out by a trainer.
Niru, a Risso's dolphin caught locally, seems unbothered by all the people and the squeals of surprise and delight. The cove is packed - it's a bright summer Sunday and hundreds of families have come.
But in two weeks, the waters of the cove will turn blood red, as it becomes a holding pen for annual hunts that capture and kill hundreds of dolphins each year.
The ancient village of Taiji, portrayed in the Oscar-winning documentary "The Cove," has a long and complex relationship with the dolphin. The film portrays the dolphin hunts as a sinister secret, cruel and dangerous because the the animals have high mercury levels.
But the hunts are no secret in this village, where Risso meat sells for $10 a pound at the local supermarket. And the villagers are deeply and stubbornly proud of their centuries-old tradition, whatever Hollywood says.

Trust Sues Over Garage Sale Negatives
Ansel Adams
The Ansel Adams Publishing Trust is suing a California man for selling prints and posters under the name of the famed nature photographer.
The case, filed Monday in federal court in San Francisco, is the latest salvo in a dispute over a trove of glass negatives bought at a garage sale by Rick Norsigian and purported to be Adams' lost work.
The lawsuit seeks to stop Norsigian and consulting firm PRS Media Partners from using Adams' name, likeness and trademark to sell prints not authorized by the Trust. The suit alleges trademark infringement and other claims.
Last month, Norsigian and his lawyer, Arnold Peter, said a panel of experts authenticated the work and valued it at about $200 million.

Insider Trading Case
Disney
A man accused with his girlfriend of operating a "brazen" insider trading scheme involving Walt Disney stock pleaded guilty to conspiracy and fraud charges on Monday.
Yonni Sebbag, 30, faces a possible 27- to 33-month prison term under U.S. federal sentencing guidelines. Sebbag, a citizen of Morocco, has been held in custody since his May 26 arrest.
Last May, prosecutors accused Sebbag and his girlfriend Bonnie Hoxie, an assistant to Disney's corporate communications chief, of trying to sell inside information about the company to more than 30 U.S. and European hedge funds. Several funds reported these efforts to authorities.
While it was unclear from the complaints what motivated the duo, the SEC said Hoxie told Sebbag she had her eye on a $700 Stella McCartney designer handbag and a pair of shoes.

`Tax Lady' Faces Calif. Fraud Lawsuit
Roni Deutch
California's attorney general is suing "tax lady" Roni Deutch for $34 million, alleging that her promises to help people solve disputes with the Internal Revenue Service often don't pan out.
Attorney General Jerry Brown filed the lawsuit Monday in Sacramento County Superior Court. He alleges that Deutch overstates her TV claims of winning tax battles with the IRS.
Deutch, who calls herself the "tax lady," says she runs the nation's largest tax resolution law firm.
Her ads are in heavy rotation on cable television and she has offered tax advice on national networks including NBC, CNN, Fox and CNBC.

State Department Gives Mercs A Pass
Blackwater
The company formerly known as Blackwater violated U.S. export control laws nearly 300 times, ranging from attempts to do business in Sudan while that country was under U.S. sanctions to training an Afghan border patrol official who was a native of Iran , the State Department said Monday.
The alleged violations were spelled out in documents released Monday by the State Department as part of a $42 million settlement with Blackwater that will allow the company, now known as Xe Services LLC , to continue receiving U.S. government contracts.
The agreement appears to spell the end of a three-and-a-half-year, multi-agency federal probe into Xe Services' unauthorized exports of defense technologies and services. While elements of the case were presented to a federal grand jury, the company and its currently serving officers have avoided criminal prosecution.
The State Department said Monday that Xe Services' alleged violations, while widespread, "did not involve sensitive technologies or cause a known harm to national security." Additionally, it said, they took place while Xe "was providing services in support of U.S. government programs and military operations abroad."
Under the agreement with the U.S. government, the Moyock, N.C. , company was levied a $42 million fine, but Xe is allowed to use $12 million of that to strengthen the company's export control compliance programs. Xe won't be barred from further U.S. government contracts, and a government policy of denying most of the firm's export control applications, in place since December 2008 , will be lifted.

Hijab Hubbub
Disney
A woman who accused the Disney Co. of discrimination for refusing to let her wear a Muslim head scarf at work says she won't wear a specially designed hat instead.
Imane Boudlal, who's a restaurant hostess at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, says Disney's suggested hat-and-bonnet is embarrassing and makes a joke of her religion.
She has gone home without pay seven times rather than remove her hijab or accept jobs away from customers.
Disney spokeswoman Suzi Brown says the head covering accommodates both Boudlal's beliefs and Disney costuming guidelines. She says it was one of several options Disney made after Boudlal requested alterations to her approved apparel.

Files Letter Of Intent
Levi Johnston
Levi Johnston, the father of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's grandson, has filed papers to run for office in his hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, next year.
Johnston filed his letter of intent Friday with the Alaska Public Offices Commission, a first step needed to begin campaigning.
The letter doesn't specify an office though Johnston's manager, Tank Jones, has said Johnston's interested in a run for mayor or City Council. He did not immediately return a message Monday.
Wasilla, the crystal meth capital of Alaska, is where Palin got her political start, first as a council member and then as mayor.

No Musical Instruments
Vatican't
Pilgrims attending the large public events during Pope Benedict's visit to England and Scotland next month have been issued a long list of do's and don'ts including a ban on musical instruments and steel cutlery.
The list, on the official papal visit website, encouraged worshippers to bring sunblock, flags and folding chairs for the events in Glasgow, London and Birmingham, but said alcohol, gazebos and lit candles should be left at home because they "could pose a threat."
The four-day trip, from September 16 to 19, will be the first papal visit since Pope John Paul II's pastoral visit in 1982 and is the first-ever official papal visit to Britain.
Worshippers will be able to take blankets, torches and cameras as well as picnics, but only plastic cutlery and non-breakable cups and plates will be allowed. Hampers and cool boxes should not exceed a certain size.

Copper Cast Of Nose To Auction
Statue of Liberty
A copper casting of the tip of the Statue of Liberty's nose is among a collection of iconic items that will be auctioned off next month in New York City.
Guernsey's auction house President Arlan Ettinger says the casting of Lady Liberty's nose is one of four that was made during a restoration effort in the 1980s. One of the four was used on the statue, one was destroyed, and another is in a private collection.
He says the piece is about 2 feet wide, consisting of the tip and the area around the nostrils. He says it's "actually quite good-looking."
The sale also includes a motorcycle from John F. Kennedy's Dallas motorcade and James Dean's sunglasses. The auction is scheduled for Sept. 24.

Vigilantes Correct Errant Signage
"The Great Typo Hunt"
If you're confused about the difference between "it's" and "its", or unsure how to spell "cemetery", you're not alone, and there's plenty of evidence to prove it.
That's the conclusion of two young Americans who took it upon themselves to correct public typos during a three-month road trip across the country. They have written about the trip in a book that exposes deficits in both public education and attention to detail.
"The Great Typo Hunt" describes a nationwide mission by Jeff Deck and Benjamin D. Herson, both 30, to rid America of signs that add an extra "n" to "dining", or insist that "shipping" is spelled with one "p".
Deck, a magazine editor, and Herson, a bookseller, drove across the country in the spring of 2008 armed with sharpies, pens and whiteout, correcting spelling, removing surplus apostrophes and untangling subject-verb disagreement on signs outside stores, gas stations, parks and public buildings.
Calling themselves the Typo Eradication Advancement League, they found hundreds of signs indicating the writers either didn't know or didn't care that their spelling, grammar, or punctuation was wrong, and were apparently unaware that their mistakes risked exposing them to public derision or, worse, misunderstanding.

Nancy Dolman Short
Martin Short's wife, Nancy Dolman, has died. She was 58.
Short's manager, Marc Gurvitz, said Monday that Short's wife of 30 years had died but provided no cause of death or any additional details. Short, best known for his comedic roles on "Saturday Night Live" and in the "Father of the Bride" franchise, married Dolman in 1980 after the pair met while working together in a production of "Godspell."
They have three children: Katherine, 27, Oliver, 24, and Henry, 20.

Edward Kean
A family friend says "
Howdy Doody Show" writer Edward Kean has died at the age of 85.
Kean was the primary writer for the show and penned the theme song to which millions of American children sang along each week during the show's run on NBC from 1947 to 1960.
Family friend Del Reddy said Monday that Kean died Aug. 13 at a nursing care facility in Oakland County's West Bloomfield Township from complications of emphysema.
Reddy says the New York City native wrote the song "It's Howdy Doody Time," which was sung during the show's opening.
Kean is credited with creating the exclamation, "kowabunga," made popular by one of the show's characters and borrowed by Bart Simpson, the animated problem child on the long-running comedy "The Simpsons."
