Chris Fox, Ivan Farkas, Niko G: 6 Real People Who Got Screwed For Trying To Help (Cracked)
Every asshole has a story they tell about the time they tried to do something nice for someone and it blew up in their face ("And that's when I learned that helping people is bullshit!"). But as we've demonstrated before (twice, for those keeping score), sometimes they're right. In a movie, an act of kindness gets repaid before the third act is through. In real life? Eh, not so much ...

Oh I KNOW this one...the once beautiful and now shitty looking Charlie Sheen! Didn't know his middle name was Irwin, though. That was my father's middle name! Poor Charlie, poster child for the dangers of drug abuse.
DJ Useo answered:
It's Charlie Sheen. I must be a big fan, as in retrospect,
I realize I've seen every episode of his last two tv series.
Imho, they were much funnier than other sitcoms from the 2000's.
I quite enjoy sitcoms, but they have to be as good as classic shows,
like Taxi, M.A.S.H. & I Love Lucy.
My current fave is the George Burns & Gracie Allen Show.
Hard to believe they weren't aired for all those years.
Patriot Act NSA Spying Unconstitutional Section 215 National Security Letters Must End
My name is Marc Perkel and I have decided to announce that I will not comply with the so called "Patriot Act" laws requiring me to disclose information about my customers. If I receive a national security letter I will immediately photograph it, post it online everywhere I can, and then make a video of me burning it. I will then await my arrest. If you want to put me in jail then come get me mother fucker.
You know the routine - it's-not-the-heat-it's-the-humidity-whine.

Actor and activist Robert Redford arrives to address a high-level United Nations meeting on climate change at the United Nations headquarters in New York June 29, 2015.
Robert Redford told the United Nations on Monday that negotiations on a global deal to tackle climate change could be the world's "last chance" to save the planet.
"This December, the world must unite behind a common goal," said the American actor and producer.
"This may be our last chance."
World governments will try to forge a new global accord to address climate change at a UN climate conference in Paris in December, with both developed and developing countries committing to cutting greenhouse gas emissions.
The landmark agreement would limit global warming to 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (two degrees Celsius) from pre-industrial revolution levels as of 2020.
NBC said Monday that it is ending its business relationship with mogul and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump (R-Con Man) because of comments he made about Mexican immigrants during the announcement of his campaign.
The network said it would no longer air the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, which had been a joint venture between the company and Trump. Miss USA has aired on NBC since 2003, and this year's edition was set for July 12.
Late Monday, Mexican media giant Televisa said it will no longer air the Miss Universe pageant and won't do business with Trump on any other communication project.
Televisa, one of the largest TV groups in the hemisphere, said in a statement that Trump's "disrespectful" remarks offended the entire Mexican population. The company said it "strongly rejects all forms of discrimination, racism and xenophobia."
Nearly one in three adults in the United States owns at least one gun, according to a new study.
In the study, researchers surveyed a nationally representative sample of 4,000 adults in the United States on gun ownership. The researchers found that about 29 percent of respondents said they owned at least one gun.
Most of the gun owners were white men older than 55, and the majority of them were married, the researchers said.
The rates of gun ownership varied from state to state, with the lowest rate in Delaware, at about 5 percent, and the highest in Alaska, at nearly 62 percent.
The researchers found that both the rates of gun ownership and gun deaths were higher in states with looser gun-control policies, compared with states that have stricter policies.

Around 30 percent of China's Ming-era Great Wall has disappeared over time as adverse natural conditions and reckless human activities -- including stealing the bricks to build houses -- erode the UNESCO World Heritage site, state media reported.
The Great Wall is not a single unbroken structure but stretches for thousands of kilometres in sections, from Shanhaiguan on the east coast to Jiayuguan in the windswept sands on the edge of the Gobi desert.
In places it is so dilapidated that estimates of its total length vary from 9,000 to 21,000 kilometres (5,600 to 13,000 miles), depending on whether missing sections are included. Despite its length it is not, as is sometimes claimed, visible from space.
Construction first begun in the third century BC, but nearly 6,300 kilometres were built in the Ming Dynasty of 1368-1644, including the much-visited sectors north of the capital Beijing.
Of that, 1,962 kilometres has melted away over the centuries, the Beijing Times reported.
It was the perfect loop: The Republican opposition research group America Rising finds footage of Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley in agriculture-loving Iowa, seeming to put down the intelligence of farmers. That footage becomes part of a 30-second TV ad, by the super PAC American Crossroads, boosting the Republican candidate, Joni Ernst (R-Bread Wrappers).
Ernst wins. So does America Rising, which used that episode in Iowa last year to show prospective clients and donors what it can do.
Big political opposition operations, which didn't even exist five years ago, will be important players in the 2016 presidential election. They started early, with America Rising tracking Democratic frontrunner Hillary Rodham Clinton since early 2013, and its liberal counterpart, American Bridge 21st Century, keeping tabs on more than a dozen GOP contenders for four years now.
"Oppo," as it's known, is flourishing thanks to donors and political parties investing millions in the two groups. The bounty of material means voters will see more of what they say they hate the most about elections: attack ads.
As an American Bridge employee tried to livestream an appearance by GOP presidential candidate Rand Paul last month in New Hampshire, Paul's state political director walked over and licked the lens of the video camera. "This is a closed event," David Chesley said. The lick scored more than 345,000 views on YouTube and showed up on Yahoo News and CNN.

Geologists reignited the debate Monday about whether to blame nature or humans for the devastating eruption nine years ago of an Indonesian mud volcano still oozing its all-consuming sludge today.
New analysis of underground gas levels measured at the time of the outburst point the finger to gas exploration -- not an earthquake -- as the trigger, a research team from the United States, Britain and Australia wrote in the journal Nature Geosciences.
The Lusi mud volcano erupted out of the blue on May 29, 2006, in the middle of a rice field in the Sidoarjo district of Java island.
It has destroyed numerous villages, factories, shops, and a highway. A dozen people were killed and about 40,000 have been displaced.
Previous studies have alternated blame between the 6.3-magnitude Yogyakarta earthquake that struck two days before the outburst about 260 kilometres (162 miles) away, and the Banjar Panji gas well just 150 metres (164 yards) from the volcano's main vent.

Icelandic whaling boats have left port to begin the 2015 whaling season, authorities said on Monday as more than 700,000 people signed a petition calling for an end to the hunt.
Two whaling boats, Hvalur 8 and Hvalur 9, "left yesterday" (Sunday), Gunnlaugur Gunnlaugsson, the manager of the Hvalfjordur whaling station, told AFP.
No whales had been caught as of Monday afternoon.
Iceland and Norway are the only nations that openly defy the International Whaling Commission's 1986 ban on hunting whales.

The parents of French saint Therese of Lisieux will be canonised on October 18 along with an Italian priest and a Spanish nun, the Vatican announced Saturday.
Louis and Zelie Martin will become the first married couple to be named Roman Catholic saints, according to specialised Vatican news agency I-Media.
Saint Therese was canonised in 1925 by Pope Pius XI who called her "the greatest saint of modern times".
She is patron saint of missionaries, aviators, florists and AIDS sufferers.
Louis and Zelie, who died in 1894 and 1877 respectively, had nine children. Only five girls survived infancy and all became nuns.
The Milwaukee Art Museum says it hopes a portrait of Pope Benedict XVI made of condoms will ignite a conversation about the AIDS epidemic in Africa and the role art plays in public discussions, director Dan Keegan said on Monday.
The museum said that about 200 callers have complained about the portrait. Milwaukee Catholic Archbishop Jerome Listecki called the museum callous and the portrait insulting in a blog last week on the Archdiocese website.
About 17,000 colorful condoms were stitched together to fashion the portrait called "Eggs Benedict," which the museum plans to put on display in November, museum spokeswoman Vicki Scharfberg said.
Milwaukee artist Niki Johnson has said she made the portrait in response to Pope Benedict's position against the use of condoms even to combat AIDS in Africa. She completed it two years ago. Benedict later softened his stance, saying condoms were sometimes permissible to stop the epidemic.
His publicist says comedian Jack Carter died of respiratory failure over the weekend at his Beverly Hills home.
Carter, who turned 93 just four days before his death, was a brash, caustic comic who became a star in early television and sustained a career of more than a half-century in TV, nightclubs, movies and on stage.
Throughout his career, Carter remained the attacker, poking fun at members of the audience, disparaging politicians and celebrities.
He died Sunday and is survived by Roxanne, his wife of 44 years, two sons and a daughter.
