The first moving footage of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas has been found, ending years of searching by fans.
Swansea-based Thomas expert Jeff Towns has confirmed that a fleeting glimpse of an extra in a feature film is the poet on a beach in west Wales.
Fans of the poet - who was born 100 years ago - had said tracking down moving pictures of him was the Holy Grail of Thomas memorabilia.
For despite making two films for the BBC and scores of personal appearances in Britain and the USA in his final years, no archive footage of Thomas had been found until now.
Mr Towns was able to pinpoint Thomas in a crowd scene in the 1951 Ava Gardner film Pandora and the Flying Dutchman co-starring James Mason.

The British actress best known as Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" movies was among 2,000 graduates receiving degrees Sunday from Brown University. She tweeted a photo of herself in cap and gown.
Watson graduated with a bachelor's degree in English literature from the Ivy League university in Rhode Island.
The 24-year-old started at Brown in 2009, the same year she was named the highest-grossing actress of the decade by the Guinness Book of World Records.
The premier of Turks and Caicos is leaving the door open to the prospect of his country joining Canada, even though he has opposed the idea in the past.
But Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird suggested Monday that Canadians are dreaming if they think they'll have a province in the Caribbean any time soon.
Turks and Caicos Premier Rufus Ewing met Prime Minister Stephen Harper in Ottawa, where he says the two leaders spoke about exploring a more formal relationship.
Ewing described the meeting as a "courtship," but said the pair did not discuss the possibility of Turks and Caicos becoming Canada's 11th province.

Decades ago, unknown blues musicians paid $15 to appear on an east Arkansas radio station, hoping a few minutes of exposure would help them become the legends they now are: B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson and Ike Turner.
KWEM-AM fell silent in 1960 after more than a decade in the Mississippi River town of West Memphis, which musician Rufus Thomas then called "the Las Vegas of the South." Fifty-four years later, the station will be revived online this week by Mid-South Community College and on 93.3 FM by mid-August.
KWEM's original frequency has survived as KWAM in Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis resident Dale Franklin purchased KWEM in 2009, briefly bringing it back on the air via the Web. He later sold it to Mid-South Community College, choosing the West Memphis school because he says he "wanted it in the right hands."
On Thursday, the school will host an event called "Flip the Switch" to celebrate KWEM's return to broadcasting online.
A Paris-based company says it will fight a U.S. judge's ruling against its attempt to force a Utah couple to pay a $3,500 penalty over a critical online review.
Descoteaux Boutiques SARL, the parent company of online retailer Kleargear.com, issued separate statements this week saying John and Jen Palmer of Layton were aware of the company's "non-disparagement clause" in its sales contracts with customers.
"The non-disparagement agreements are not new among employees, partners and customers across the globe," Kleargear.com spokesman Vic Mathieu said in a statement. "Our sales contract is enforceable under the laws of the United States because business transactions are exempt from First Amendment rights ... If a customer disagrees with any merchant of policies, they are free to shop elsewhere."
U.S. District Judge Dee Benson entered a default judgment on April 30 in favour of the Palmers after Kleargear.com failed to respond to the couple's lawsuit over the $3,500 penalty. He ruled the Palmers owe nothing to Kleargear.com, but the gadget retailer owes them a sum to be determined at a June court hearing.
Jen Palmer posted a critical review about Kleargear.com on RipoffReport.com after her husband never received two gifts he ordered for her, prompting Kleargear.com to notify the couple in 2012 that they had 72 hours to remove the negative review or pay $3,500 because it violated the non-disparagement clause.

Protesters critical of the Guggenheim Museum's planned outpost in Abu Dhabi have smuggled artworks into the museum.
The New York Times reports that about 40 protesters spread throughout the New York City museum's Frank Lloyd Wright building on Saturday and put the artworks up. Guards quickly removed the unsanctioned art.
The action staged by a group called Global Ultra Luxury Faction, or GULF, was part of a growing protest of labour conditions on Saadiyat Island, off the coast of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
Critics say much of the work on Saadiyat Island is done by foreign migrants who are required to pay large recruitment and transit fees.

A pistol and other possessions belonging to a one-time Old West outlaw who later ran for governor of Oklahoma and became an actor are going up for auction next month.
The .45 Colt revolver owned by infamous outlaw Alphonzo "Al" J. Jennings could go for as much as $30,000 during an auction June 5 in Woodward, said Ira Smith, auctioneer with Smith & Co. Auction and Reality Inc.
Jennings was born in Virginia in 1863 and moved to El Reno, Oklahoma, where he became the prosecuting attorney for Canadian County, according to the Oklahoma Historical Society.
In 1895, he joined his two brothers in a law practice in Woodward. Later that year, one brother was killed and another wounded in a shootout with a rival attorney. Jennings later formed an outlaw band that attempted to rob trains and general stores before he was captured and sentenced to life in prison.
One of his brothers got his sentence reduced, and Jennings was released just a few years later. He ran unsuccessfully for Oklahoma governor in 1914 and then moved to California, where he appeared in at least two westerns before dying in 1961.
Bunny Yeager, a model turned pin-up photographer who helped jump-start the career of then-unknown Bettie Page, died Sunday, her agent said. She was 85 years old.
Yeager died at a North Miami hospice where she had been for about a week, her agent, Ed Christin said.
Yeager's legacy is her cultural impact, from pin-up photography and fashion, helping to popularize the bikini, and influencing other artists such as Cindy Sherman, who read Yeager's guides on photographing nudes and making self-portraits, Christin said.
"Anyone in Miami in the 1950s who wanted a bikini would come to her, and she'd make one," he said.
Yeager became famous for making everyday women, from stay-at-home mothers to airline attendants, feel comfortable enough to bare it all. Her photos of Page in a leopard-print bathing suit standing next to a real cheetah are still well-known today.
Linnea Eleanor Yeager was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, on March 13, 1929, and in the 1940s became one of the most photographed models in Miami during her early career. She later turned the camera on herself, posing in bathing suits she handmade for her 5-foot-9 frame. Her self-portraits were turned into a book, "How I Photograph Myself," in 1964.
She began taking photos of Page in 1954 as she began her career behind the camera.
She published about a dozen books and her work has been displayed in art galleries across the world. Besides the iconic Page photo, Yeager also shot stills of the Swedish actress Ursula Andress, who starred in the 1962 James Bond film "Dr. No" in a white bikini, a knife sheathed at her side.
Yeager said she had few requests when several magazines began to struggle or went out of business over the last decade, but her career returned to the spotlight in 2010 when the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh held an exhibition of her work. There was also an exhibition in Miami in 2013.
In her studio, Yeager kept a stash of photos no one had seen in cabinets. They will be included in a new book Yeager was finishing, scheduled for publication in September, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Yeager's first photo shoots with Page, Christin said.
Herb Jeffries, the first African-American singing cowboy to appear in movies in the 1930s, died of heart failure Sunday morning at a Los Angeles hospital. He was 100.
His death was confirmed by Raymond Strait, who worked with Jeffries on his not-yet-published autobiography titled "Color of Love."
Jeffries, who was born Umberto Valentino in Detroit in 1913 and was of Sicilian, Irish and Ethiopian decent, appeared as a horse-riding good guy with a thick moustache in a number of '30s westerns including "Harlem Rides the Range" and "Harlem on the Prairie," a musical that featured an all-black cast that included actor Spencer Williams.
Jeffries was known for his luscious baritone. In the 1940s, he performed as a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra and released his signature tune "Flamingo." In 1941, he appeared in Ellington's all-black musical revue "Jump for Joy" alongside Dorothy Dandridge in Los Angeles.
His popular solo hits "When the Swallows Come Back to Capistrano" and "Basin Street Blues" were released after he'd served in World War II.
Jeffries appeared in nine films and on television shows like "Hawaii Five-O" and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame in 2004.
Strait said Jeffries recently had several surgeries that "just wore him out." He added that Jeffries "believed in one world and one people and was one of the most generous people I've ever met. He was always funding something or doing something for kids."
Jeffries is survived by his fifth wife, Savannah; three daughters; and two sons.
