I love watching documentaries, and this one [Jackson Heights] is superb. Frederick Wiseman, who's in his 80s and one of the most considered documentary makers, is able to make you discover things that you're just not aware of - and rather like with a great book, you really go into a subject, which I love. Jackson Heights is a part of Queens, in New York: it's a very ethnic part of the city where they're trying to keep the place together, to keep what is theirs, but it's probably the last of their days.
A sonnet is a poem in a specific form which originated in Italy; Giacomo da Lentini is credited with its invention.
The term sonnet is derived from the Italian word sonetto (from Old Provençal sonet a little poem, from son song, from Latin sonus a sound). By the thirteenth century it signified a poem of fourteen lines that follows a strict rhyme scheme and specific structure. Conventions associated with the sonnet have evolved over its history. Writers of sonnets are sometimes called "sonneteers", although the term can be used derisively.

a 14 line sonnet can be etched on a 14lb stone. It will take a fortnight.
Kevin K. in Washington, DC said:
Well, as a line is to a sonnet as a pound is to a stone.
Billy in Cypress responded:
In accordance with the answers for the two previous days, fourteen is the number of lines in a sonnet. Will this trend continue for the next eleven days or will it come to an abrupt end like the reign of the insane, CpPDJT-ID?
DJ Useo answered:
The answer is 14. I've always had a strong interest in words, & methods of using words. I knew this already, & enjoy poetry, & lyrics.

Before he agreed to produce Roger Waters' first album in 25 years, Nigel Godrich had some hard words to say to the ex-Pink Floyd frontman.
Godrich didn't mince his words with his boyhood hero. "He made some records that were impenetrable. I can't listen to them -- I turned them off," he told AFP.
"I tried to explain that to him," the producer said of his frank first meeting with Waters, the lyrical genius behind the legendary albums "The Wall" and "Dark Side of the Moon".
But rather than punch him in the mouth, the famously combative Waters, now 72, hired him.
"He got it," said Godrich, who claimed that Waters' powerful new album, "Is This The Life We Really Want?" is a "reaffirmation of him as a truly great songwriter".

One lucky lady snagged the deal of a lifetime over 30 years ago when she purchased what she thought was merely a fun cocktail ring, but what turned out to be a diamond worth more than $450,000.
The unaware buyer who spent approximately $15 at a flea market in London had no idea the gem was actually a 26.27-carat white diamond.
On Monday, Jessica Wyndham, head of Sotheby's London jewelry department, met with the owner who has been wearing the ring since the '80s and only recently found out from a local jeweler it could be of significant value.
Once Wyndham first saw the jewel in person earlier this year, she contacted the Gemological Institute of America to have the gem identified. "They check the diamond and give a certificate confirming the color, clarity, size and weight," Wyndham said of the New York City-based company.
Wyndham said she was astonished that given the weight, color, cut and clarity that an average person could own this kind of stone without knowing what it really was.
The original manuscript that became the basis for Alcoholics Anonymous is the subject of a new lawsuit by the organization, which wants to reclaim it before it can be auctioned next month.
According to a complaint filed in New York on Monday, the working draft for AA's basic text, known as the Big Book and describing the famous 12-step program to help people stop drinking and stay sober, is scheduled to be auctioned on June 8 by Profiles in History in Calabasas, California.
But the plaintiff Alcoholics Anonymous World Services said the seller, Ken Roberts, had no right to consign the manuscript because it had been gifted to AA in 1979, though because of the "extreme negligence" of others was never turned over.
AA said it learned about the gift in 2007, three months after Roberts bought the manuscript for $992,000 at Sotheby's, and sued after he refused its demand to turn over the manuscript rather than sell it.
AA said Bill W.'s widow inherited the original manuscript after his 1971 death, and gifted it to Barry Leach in 1978, who the following year gifted it back to AA upon his death, which occurred in 1985.

A small sinkhole has opened on the road just outside Donald Trump's (R-Corrupt) Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
The Palm Beach Post reports that the 4-foot-by-4-foot (1-meter-by-1-meter) hole was discovered Monday in Palm Beach County just west of one the resort's entrances. It is near a new water main and isn't a threat to the president's property in Palm Beach.
Trump has spent seven weekends at Mar-a-Lago since taking office, but it is now closed for the summer. Trump is on a nine-day trip that began in the Middle East and will end in Italy.
Trump bought the club for $10 million in 1985 and has spent tens of millions on improvements. Each of the 500 members pays $14,000 annually in dues. The initiation fee was recently doubled to $200,000.
Fox News was hit with new sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits on Monday, adding to the catalog of complaints that has rattled the U.S. cable news network and its corporate parent 21st Century Fox Inc .
New York City lawyer Douglas Wigdor filed lawsuits in federal court in Manhattan on behalf of Kathleen Lee, a Fox News Radio shift editor who says she was sexually harassed and subjected to "unceasing retaliation" for complaining, and Naima Farrow, who maintains she was fired from her job as an accounts payable coordinator after telling supervisors she was pregnant.
In a third case in the same court, Vidya Mann, a Fox News accounts receivable specialist, said she was taken on as a temporary employee but passed over for permanent jobs in favor of white coworkers.
The new legal claims come as Fox News is already battling a series of lawsuits that led to the resignations of former chief executive Roger Ailes (R-Horndog), who died last week, star anchor Bill "Falafel" O'Reilly and network co-president Bill Shine.
Wigdor represents at least 23 current and former Fox News employees with legal claims against the company. Earlier this month, he met officials from the Office of Communications, a British regulatory agency that is currently considering whether to approve 21st Century Fox's proposed takeover of satellite broadcaster Sky.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson (R-Exxon) held a press conference Sunday in Riyadh only with foreign media in attendance, while American reporters were kept uninformed.
The not-so-media-friendly Tillerson held the press briefing with Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir. According to State Department spokesman R.C. Hammond, Tillerson was invited to the news conference at the last minute.
The secretary of state accompanied Donald Trump (R-Crooked) and other senior officials on the president's first foreign trip since assuming office. According to the transcript, Tillerson reiterated Trump's comments from his speech earlier in the day on how the Middle East should tackle terrorism.
In March, Tillerson had admitted that he was "not a big media press access person." During his visit to Japan, only a reporter from conservative Independent Journal Review (IJR) accompanied him. At the time, several White House reporters complained about Tillerson's inaccessibility.
Supreme Court Strikes Down 2 Congressional Districts
North Carolina
The Supreme Court struck down two congressional districts in North Carolina Monday because race played too large a role in their creation, a decision voting rights advocates said would boost challenges in other states.
The justices ruled that Republicans who controlled the state legislature and governor's office in 2011 placed too many African-Americans in the two districts. The result was to weaken African-American voting strength elsewhere in North Carolina.
In recent years, the Supreme Court has ruled for civil rights groups and black voters in challenges to political districts in Alabama, North Carolina and Virginia.
A Democratic group led by former Attorney General Eric Holder is focusing on redistricting challenges to counter political gains Republicans have made since the 2010 census and the redrawing of electoral districts that followed. Marc Elias, who argued the North Carolina case and is a senior adviser to Holder's group, said the ruling "will serve as a warning to Republicans not just in North Carolina but throughout the country that their cynical efforts to use race will not go unchallenged."
In North Carolina, both districts have since been redrawn and the state conducted elections under the new congressional map in 2016. Even with the new districts, Republicans maintained their 10-3 edge in congressional seats.

A leading figure in the "alt-right" movement had his gym membership revoked after a Georgetown University professor confronted him during a workout and called him a neo-Nazi.
Professor C. Christine Fair told The Associated Press on Monday that the Old Town Sport&Health club in Alexandria, Virginia, informed her that it terminated the membership of white nationalist Richard Spencer following last Wednesday's confrontation in the gym.
The gym's general manager didn't immediately respond to a call for comment. Fair said she believes the gym made a "business decision" in pulling Spencer's membership.
Spencer told BuzzFeed that he didn't think the gym's decision was fair. The website published a copy of the gym's termination letter to Spencer, and it didn't cite a reason.
Egyptian authorities say they caught looters digging up an ancient stone block carved with an image of a pharaoh.
In the city of Abydos, antiquities authorities say they were inspecting an old two-story, mud-brick house when they found that the owner had excavated a hole in the floor.
The block was at the bottom of the hole, about 13 feet (4 meters) below the floor, according to an announcement from the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities.
Images of the discovery show that the block is decorated with the cartouche of Nectanebo II. (A cartouche is a symbol consisting of ovals that frame a set of hieroglyphs indicating a royal name). Nectanebo II ruled during Egypt's 30th Dynasty, from 360 to 342 B.C., and was the last native Egyptian pharaoh before his defeat during the Persian conquest.
Abydos is in Upper Egypt about 6 miles (10 kilometers) from the Nile River. The earliest kings of Egypt were buried at the site, and it remained an important religious place for thousands of years. Today, many of its monuments are still visible, such as Temple of Seti I and Ahmose's pyramid.
