Alice Ollstein: No, The CBO Was Not 'Way, Way Off' On Scoring Obamacare (TPM)
Aiming to erode public trust in the Congressional Budget Office ahead of its report this week on the GOP's Obamacare repeal bill, Republican lawmakers and Trump administration officials are rewriting the history of the CBO's analysis of the Affordable Care Act.
Andrew Tobias: Jobs and - Especially - Health Care
Obamacare shifts hundreds of billions from the wealthy and uber-wealthy to help people get health care. Should we reverse that? The Republicans say . . . yes! What do you say?
Luis Prada: Trump Adviser Roger Stone Is A Giant Anthropomorphic Dick (Cracked)
Trashiness isn't specific to one race, region, nation, or city. You'd think that money, or a lack of it, would be the biggest determining factor in whether a person achieves maximum trash, but as our current president proves, that isn't true at all.
Andrew Findlay: Neil Gaiman's Norse Mythology
Neil Gaiman wrote a book of Norse mythology. There is perhaps no one more perfect for the job of modernizing this body of myths. The Sandman series that put him on the map is one long love letter to mythology, and American Gods, my favorite novel of his, specifically digs deep into Norse tales, exploring how deities might fit into the rough-and-tumble of today, cutting them up or down based on their merits, and watching how they navigate the world. It is fascinating. He also just loves these myths, ever since they inspired him as a child reading Marvel's Thor comics.
Zorro (Spanish for "fox") is the secret identity of Don Diego de la Vega, a fictional character created in 1919 by pulp writer Johnston McCulley. He is a Californio nobleman living in Los Angeles during the era of Mexican rule (between 1821 and 1846), although some movie adaptations of Zorro's story have placed him during the earlier Spanish rule.

Out of the night, when the full moon is bright,
Comes the horseman known as Zorro.
This bold renegade carves a Z with his blade,
A Z that stands for Zorro.
Zorro, Zorro, the fox so cunning and free,
Zorro, Zorro, who makes the sign of the Z.
He is polite, but the wicked take flight
When they catch the sight of Zorro.
He's friend of the weak,
And the poor and the meek,
This very unique señor Zorro.

Billy in Cypress said:
Don Diego de la Vega is the mythical Zorro (the fox) in numerous stories, movies, animations and TV series. He is a heroic character set in California in the nineteenth century with a similar set of friends, villains and stories as Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest of medieval England. He has had a remarkably long life from 1919 to the present day, just as his predecessor Robin Hood has had from 1377 to the present day. Main differences are the color of clothing (black vs green), weapons (whip and sword vs long bow and staff) are mainly adaptions to the times and cultures. The "fox" represents the intelligence and cunning of both heroes. I think they would both enjoy tormenting CpPDJT-ID.

CBS announced on Monday it has given the green light to "Young Sheldon," a prequel of its award-winning ratings smash comedy, "The Big Bang Theory."
Created by "Big Bang" executive producers Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, the half-hour single-camera comedy series will premiere later this year, although the number of episodes has not been announced.
It will star Iain Armitage as a nine-year-old version of nerdy genius Sheldon Cooper -- one of the main "Big Bang" characters played by Jim Parsons, who narrates the new show as the adult Sheldon.
Jon Favreau ("Iron Man," "The Jungle Book") will direct and executive produce the first episode from a script written by Molaro, while Zoe Perry takes on the role of Sheldon's mother Mary Cooper, played by the actress' real-life mother Laurie Metcalf in "Big Bang."

Gay rights groups and child welfare advocates raised alarm Monday over what they see as legislative attempts in nearly two dozen US states to roll back recent anti-discrimination gains.
The advocacy groups are particularly concerned over a new law in South Dakota which allows adoption agencies to cite religious beliefs to potentially avoid working with gay parents.
The South Dakota law "is really just the beginning, and is part of a large wave" of similar efforts, said Sarah Warbelow, legal director at the gay rights group Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
There are more than 100 similar bills in 23 states, according to HRC and the American Civil Liberties Union, including Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee.
The bills aim to loosen restrictions on discriminating against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people through religious exemptions, the groups said.
Canadians with cystic fibrosis, an inherited disease which attacks the lungs, tend to live a decade longer than Americans suffering from it, likely due to diet, medical insurance and the availability of transplants, researchers said Monday.
The median -- or midpoint -- age of survival for people with cystic fibrosis in Canada is 50.9 years compared to 40.6 years in the United States, said the report in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
Furthermore, people in Canada with CF faced a 34 percent lower risk of dying than their US counterparts, when researchers took account of factors such as age and the severity of the disease.
The study, funded by the US Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, compared records on more than 45,000 US patients to nearly 6,000 Canadian patients.
The lifespan findings focus on the last five years of data available, from 2009 to 2013.

Cities from Oslo to Sydney are setting goals to curb climate change that exceed national targets, causing tensions with central governments about who controls policy over green energy and transport and construction.
More than 2,500 cities have issued plans to cut carbon emissions to the United Nations since late 2014, setting an example to almost 200 nations that reached a Paris Agreement in December 2015 to fight global warming.
Although there are no officially collated statistics available, many city targets are more ambitious than those set by governments under the Paris accord, which imposes no obligations on cities, regions or companies to define goals.
Just over half the world's population lives in urban areas, meaning municipalities will help to determine whether the historic shift from fossil fuels to cleaner energy agreed in Paris succeeds or fails.
But as many cities become more assertive, governments are reluctant to cede control.
Two Native American tribes who are suing to stop the Dakota Access pipeline have asked a judge to head off the imminent flow of oil while they appeal his decision allowing the pipeline's construction to be completed.
U.S. District Judge James Boasberg last week rejected the request of the Standing Rock and Cheyenne River Sioux tribes to stop construction of the final segment of the pipeline under Lake Oahe, a Missouri River reservoir in North Dakota from which the tribes get their water. The pipeline's developer, Texas-based Energy Transfer Partners, expects to have the work done and the pipeline filled with oil as early as this week.
The tribes maintain that an oil pipeline under the lake they consider sacred violates their right to practice their religion, which relies on clean water. In his decision last week, Boasberg said the tribes didn't raise the religion argument in a timely fashion and he questioned its merits.
Cheyenne River attorney Nicole Ducheneaux on Friday appealed the ruling to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. She also asked Boasberg to "prevent the flow of oil through the Dakota Access pipeline" until the appeal is resolved.
Boasberg on Monday gave ETP and the Army Corps of Engineers until Tuesday to file their responses to the request. The Corps is a defendant in the lawsuit because it manages the Missouri River system and authorized the Lake Oahe work last month at the urging of President Donald Trump.

Natural changes in the environment are responsible for about 40 percent of Arctic sea ice loss, while humans are to blame for the rest, a climate study said Monday.
The paper, based on model simulations of different climate conditions, was a rare attempt to quantify the relative contributions of humans and Nature to the dramatic decline and could have a major impact on future research.
Understanding all causes of the sea ice retreat is crucial for accurately projecting the rate of future loss, and trying to slow it.
Scientists have long accepted that natural changes in the environment, such as atmospheric air circulation, were at least partly responsible.
The new study concluded that up to 60 percent of sea ice decline since 1979 was caused by summertime changes in atmospheric circulation.
There were startling colors here just a year ago, a dazzling array of life beneath the waves. Now this Maldivian reef is dead, killed by the stress of rising ocean temperatures. What's left is a haunting expanse of gray, a scene repeated in reefs across the globe in what has fast become a full-blown ecological catastrophe.
The world has lost roughly half its coral reefs in the last 30 years. Scientists are now scrambling to ensure that at least a fraction of these unique ecosystems survives beyond the next three decades. The health of the planet depends on it: Coral reefs support a quarter of all marine species, as well as half a billion people around the world.
"This isn't something that's going to happen 100 years from now. We're losing them right now," said marine biologist Julia Baum of Canada's University of Victoria. "We're losing them really quickly, much more quickly than I think any of us ever could have imagined."
Even if the world could halt global warming now, scientists still expect that more than 90 percent of corals will die by 2050. Without drastic intervention, we risk losing them all.
Coral reefs produce some of the oxygen we breathe. Often described as underwater rainforests, they populate a tiny fraction of the ocean but provide habitats for one in four marine species. Reefs also form crucial barriers protecting coastlines from the full force of storms.

An album containing never-before-seen candid photos of German Nazi party leader Adolf Hitler and party members will be auctioned on Wednesday, according to the auction house.
The photo album found in April 1945 in the bedroom of Hitler's longtime companion Eva Braun could fetch up to more than more than 15 thousand pounds sterling (roughly $18,340 dollars), said C&T Auctions consultant Tim Harper.
"The pictures are very personal," said Harper, who noted the item is currently owned by an unnamed collector.
The auction will take place at Royal Tunbridge Wells, a town in Kent, England.
The photo album includes images of Hitler alongside other leading members of the Nazi party such as Joseph Goebbels, Hermann Goering and Heinrich Himmler.
Russia put a blogger on trial Monday on charges of offending religious believers and fomenting hatred by posting a video online that showed him hunting Pokemon in a church.
Ruslan Sokolovsky, 22, faces up to seven years in prison over the YouTube video of him zapping Pokemon on a smartphone in a Russian Orthodox church in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg.
The video which Sokolovsky posted in August 2016 has been viewed more than 1.6 million times on YouTube.
He has pleaded not guilty in the case which has been compared to that of the Pussy Riot punk art group, whose 2012 "punk prayer" in a Moscow cathedral led to two-year prison terms.
He said he created the videos "with critical and polemical aims", describing himself as an atheist.
