David Bruce: Wise Up! Sex (Athens News)
On TV's "Newlywood Game," a contestant was asked, "What one thing have you mastered since you have been married?" The answer: "Sex."
The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (Neatorama)
In the 1960s, musical comedy duo Tom and Dick Smothers, professionally known as the Smothers Brothers, were already veterans of the folk scene. They'd recorded several hit albums of their unique act: singing and playing folk songs before shifting into scripted sibling arguments and topical standup comedy bits.
The Andrews Sisters became the most popular female vocal group of the first half of the 20th century.
75-100 million records sold from a little over 600 recorded tunes
113 charted Billboard hits, 46 reaching Top 10 status (more than Elvis Presley or The Beatles)
17 Hollywood films (more than any other singing group in motion picture history)
Until the advent of the Supremes, the sisters were the most imitated of all female singing groups and influenced many artists, including Mel Torme, Les Paul and Mary Ford, The Four Freshmen, The McGuire Sisters, The Manhattan Dolls, The Lennon Sisters, The Pointer Sisters, The Manhattan Transfer, Barry Manilow, and Bette Midler. Even Elvis Presley was a fan.

Lois Over There In Oregon was first, and correct, with:
Oh, the answer is the Andrews Sisters, who helped win WWII
with their powerful American singing, and never ever gave a
blow job to Hope OR Crosby. Probably. If they were sober.
Unless it would help win the war. Or something.
Alan J answered:
The Andrews Sisters.

I imagine that this one could cause a bit of controversy, Marty...
because I think the answer is subjective.
For instance, accordion to Wiki, the answer would be
The Spice Girls
but I think we all know that the REAL answer is
The Supremes

The very great Andrews Sisters
Made way for Shirelles, Marvelettes, Supremes, Shangri-Las, etc., maybe even Go-Go's and Bangles.
I had watched this a while back.

That would be
Patty, Maxine, and LaVern (sp?), the Andrews sisters, much beloved at
the 4077.

I'm gonna guess The Andrew Sisters.
Dale of Diamond Springs, Norcali replied:
The Andrews Sisters. They were real snazzy broads.
DJ Useo responded:
Sure'n it must be the super fantastic ANDREWS SISTERS!
I like them plenty, & welcome their appearances in classic films, especially.
I generally find music from before the sixties to be pretty dire, but they had the gift.

The sisters specialized in swing, boogie-woogie, and novelty hits with their trademark lightning-quick vocal syncopations. Their best known song "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" from the 1941 Bud Abbott and Lou Costello film, "Buck Privates".
As you all know the untimely passing of Terry was unexpected, even by
him. We all knew he had cancer but we all thought he had some years
left. So some of us who have worked closely with him over the years are
scrambling around trying to figure out what to do. My job, among other
things, is to establish communications with the Bartcop community and
provide email lists and groups for those who might put something
together. Those who want to play an active roll in something coming from
this, or if you are one of Bart's pillars, should send an email to
active@bartcop.com.
Bart's final wish was to pay off the house mortgage for Mrs. Bart who is
overwhelmed and so very grateful for the support she has received.

But - I need you all to help keep this going. This note
isn't going to directly reach all of Bart's fans. So if you can repost
it on blogs and discussion boards so people can sign up then when we
figure out what's next we can let more people know. This list is just
over 600 but like to get it up to at least 10,000 pretty quick. So

John Oliver may have been ruled out of the running to replace Jon Stewart but the British comedian's role in helping sway the debate over "net neutrality" has cemented his status as The Daily Show host's spiritual heir.
Oliver was the first name on most people's lips last month when Stewart sent his legions of fans into mourning after announcing he was stepping down from the satirical Comedy Central show after nearly two decades as host.
The prospect of the 37-year-old Birmingham native sliding into Stewart's chair receded however when HBO swiftly announced it was renewing his own show, "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver", for two more years.
Yet Oliver's role in galvanizing American opinion over the once-arcane concept of access to the Internet was in the best traditions of Stewart, a master of using biting humor to unravel complex questions of the day.
Oliver's 13-minute segment on "net neutrality" last year, in which he exhorted viewers to deluge the US Federal Communications Commission forum with objections, is widely credited with crashing the FCC's comments page.
Within 24 hours of Oliver's rallying cry, more than 45,000 comments on net neutrality had been posted on the FCC forum, according to the Washington Post.

For all of his many (very vocal) critics, Kanye West certainly has a lot of fans - something that anyone hate-Googling the rapper can plainly see by looking at his Wikipedia page, where he's listed as one of the best-selling artists in history.
West's award-riddled Wikipedia page is getting significantly more attention than usual today, but the traffic spike has nothing (or perhaps just little) to do with the album title he just announced or the mad rush on his recently-dropped Yeezy Boost sneakers.
Ironically, tens of thousands of people are being driven to Wikipedia's list of Kanye West achievements right now by a URL prank designed to mock him.
Type "loser.com" into your browser right now to see what we're talking about (or just take our word for it that, as of Monday afternoon, the URL redirects to West's Wikipedia page.)
The internet has been exploding over this cute little redirect since it was unearthed by The Daily Beast on Sunday.
Co-host Julie Chen announced on Monday's episode of "The Talk" that Sara Gilbert welcomed a son over the weekend. It's Gilbert's first with wife Linda Perry.
Chen said Rhodes Emilio Gilbert Perry was born Saturday. Fellow host Sharon Osbourne showed a photo of the newborn.
The 40-year-old Gilbert may be best known for her starring role on the long-running TV comedy "Roseanne." She's also a creator and co-host of "The Talk."
Perry is a singer, songwriter, producer and former front woman of the rock group 4 Non Blondes.

After seven decades holed up in a Catholic church basement in the Lithuanian capital, thousands of Yiddish manuscripts that survived the Holocaust and Stalin's anti-Jewish onslaught are finally seeing the light of day.
A browning, century-old play by renowned Jewish playwright Jacob Gordin is among them. Penned in Yiddish but using the Latin alphabet, it still bears the red wax seal of Tsarist Russia's censors.
Thanks to a daring librarian, the 15-page copy of "Mirele Efros", often dubbed the "Jewish King Lear", and the numerous other documents -- whose contents are still largely unknown -- were spared destruction.
With brushes, erasers and glue, archivists are now hard at work to prepare them for digitising, in both Vilnius and at the New York-based YIVO Institute for Jewish Research that has spearheaded the bid to reunite the "lost" collection.
The artist who painted ex-president Bill Clinton for America's National Portrait Gallery included the shadow of a dress in the work, a reference to Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky, the painter says.
Nelson Shanks told the Philadelphia Daily News: "The reality is he's probably the most famous liar of all time. He and his administration did some very good things, of course, but I could never get this Monica thing completely out of my mind and it is subtly incorporated in the painting."
A shadow beside Clinton, who is pictured standing in front of a hearth, "actually literally represents a shadow from a blue dress that I had on a mannequin, that I had there while I was painting it, but not when he was there," added Shanks, 77.
"It is also a bit of a metaphor in that it represents a shadow on the office he held, or on him."

A Disneyland memorabilia collector has taken a cue from the movie "Frozen" and decided to "Let It Go."
Van Eaton Galleries says nearly 1,000 items - including a bird from the Enchanted Tiki Room and an original "Pirates of the Caribbean" skeleton - brought in $1.7 million during a weekend auction held online and in Sherman Oaks, California.
The top seller was a green 1970s-era animatronic Tiki Room bird, which fetched $153,400. The 1967 "Pirates" skeleton, which holds a cutlass and chugs from a bottle, went for $129,800.
Other items offered by the anonymous collector were the original Frontierland cigar store Indian, a 1960s Mark Twain Riverboat life preserver, a doll from "It's a Small World" and poster artwork for "Captain EO."

Maxee Maxwell, a member of the 1990s girl group Brownstone - best known for the hit "If You Love Me" - has died after cutting herself in a fall at home, a representative said Monday.
Courtney Barnes told The Associated Press that Maxwell, 46, was at her home in Los Angeles on Friday when she fell and cut her neck on a drinking glass. Her husband, producer Carsten "Soulshock" Schack, found her sometime later and called 911. She was rushed to a hospital where she died, Barnes said.
Maxwell is survived by Schack and her 11-year-old son, Nicolaj Hojer. In a statement, they said they were devastated by Maxwell's sudden and tragic death, calling her a devoted wife and mother.
The R&B trio Brownstone was signed to Michael Jackson's label imprint, MJJ Music. They made their debut in 1995. Their hits also included "Grapevyne."
Ezra Laderman, a classical music composer whose works ranged from symphonies to operas to music for Academy Award-winning films, has died. He was 90.
The Yale School of Music, where Laderman was dean from 1989 to 1995, announced his death on its website. The school said he died Saturday, but didn't give a cause.
His operas included "Marilyn," based on the life of Marilyn Monroe, which premiered at the New York City Opera in 1993, and he wrote the music for Oscar-winning documentaries "The Eleanor Roosevelt Story" and "Black Fox."
He wrote for soloists like Yo-Yo Ma and led numerous professional organizations, including a stint as president of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
He remained a professor at the Yale School of Music until he retired in 2013.

The item is expected to fetch in excess of HK$60 million ($7.7 million) at the auction house's Spring sales on April 7.
