The novel "Goodbye to Berlin" was adapted into a Broadway play and film called "I Am a Camera", then adapted again into a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical and an award-winning film. What is the title of the musical adapted from "Goodbye to Berlin" and "I Am a Camera"?
The Pacific geoduck (Panopea generosa) is a species of very large, edible saltwater clam in the family Hiatellidae. The common name is derived from a Lushootseed (Nisqually) word.
The geoduck is native to the coastal waters of western Canada and the northwest United States. The shell of the clam ranges from 15 cm (6 inches) to over 20 cm (8 inches) in length, but the extremely long siphons make the clam itself much longer than this: the "neck" or siphons alone can be 1 m (3.3 feet) in length. The geoduck is the largest burrowing clam in the world. It is also one of the longest-living animals of any type, with a typical lifespan of 140 years; the oldest has been recorded at 168 years old.
The name geoduck is derived from a Lushootseed (Nisqually) word - either a word composed of a first element of unknown meaning and meaning "genitals" (referring to the shape of the clam), or a phrase meaning "dig deep", or perhaps both, as a double entendre. It is sometimes known as the mud duck, king clam or, when translated literally from Chinese, the elephant-trunk clam. A group of geoducks is called a bag.

• Lynn Frances Anderson started out playing guitar and mandolin, but when she was in the 5th grade, she hid her brother's trumpet in the family pet's doghouse one evening, and the next morning she smuggled it onto the bus so that she could learn to play it in the school band, although her mother had declined to sign her up for band. Fortunately, her mother was flexible. Ms. Anderson says, "She thought if I went to that much effort, she might as well let me learn."
• A friend of Sharon Salzberg once attended a three-month meditation retreat at the Insight Meditation Center in Massachusetts. He had several difficult days at the retreat, and finally he decided to leave the retreat, check into a motel, and watch a football game on TV. He did, and when he returned to the retreat, he was overcome by guilt. He told his teacher, Dipa Ma, what he had done. She looked at him, held his hand, and said, "That's okay. Now you can start again."
• Franz Liszt once read a score by a young man who could not write music. Liszt pointed to a place on the score, and then said, "This must not be done in music." The young man haughtily replied, "But I have done it." Liszt dipped his pen in an ink well, then splattered the ink all over the young man's white waistcoat, and said, "This, too, canbe done, but it mustnot be." Then Liszt bought the young man a new white waistcoat.
• Kato-Dewanokami-Yasuoki revered the martial arts. One day, Zen master Bankei visited him, and Yasuoki picked up his spear and pointed it at Bankei. However, Bankei merely used his rosary to flick the point of the spear aside, and then told Yasuoki, "No good. You're too worked up." Eventually, Yasuoki became a master of the spear and spoke of Bankei as having been his greatest teacher in that art.
• The Hasidic master Israel of Rizhin used to teach by using parables. For example: A traveler is alone on a road, trying to reach a town where he will be safe. It is night, and there is a lightning storm. If the traveler is foolish, he will look at the lightning and become more afraid, but if the traveler is wise, he will look at the road, which is well lit by the lightning.
• Hasidic Rabbi Meyer Premishlaner once pointed out that God gave us two eyes although we could see with only one eye. Why did God give us the extra eye? According to the Rabbi, "The answer is this: One eye is for seeing our neighbors' virtues, and the other eye is for seeing our own failings."

• Makeup artist Kevyn Aucoin once said, "Everyone has the potential to look beautiful." Don't believe it? Believe it! Many models for his second book about makeup, FaceForward, were, as you would expect, famous actresses and models; however, many were so-called "ordinary" women, including his mother, Thelma Aucoin, whom he made up and photographed as herself, a 66-year-old mother and grandmother. The book also features transformations such as Liza Minelli transformed into Marilyn Monroe - and his mother transformed into Marlene Dietrich. Mr. Aucoin even asked a total stranger, Louisa Lee, whom he met while shopping, to allow him to make her up so he could put her in his second book. He also asked the same thing of sales associates (Angela Barrett and Marleen Everett), a gal Friday (Maryliam Crespi), and a friend's mother (64-year-old Bobbie Reuter, who was born in Korea). By the way, Mr. Aucoin worried that whenever he would ask a total stranger to let him put her in a book, it would sound like a pickup line. However, since Mr. Aucoin was an out and rather flamboyant gay man, I'm not sure that many women thought that he was trying to pick them up.
This Wonkette article is about a breathtakingly bigoted reaction to the Oscars. Some of the funniest comedies I'e seen have been foreign language movies. Some of the most edge-of-the-seat thrillers I've seen were foreign language movies. Some of the most touching movies I've seen (The Other Son & Labyrinth of Lies) were foreign language movies. I will never understand why people are too snobbish or short-sighted to read subtitles.
"Koreans speaking Korean happens every day. It's not connected to the "destruction of America," which was Donald Trump's election. The part of Joon-ho's acceptance speech that he spoke in English was roughly equivalent to Prince's entire 1985 Oscar speech."
"The "class warfare" complaint on its face seems a reasonable objection from your typical, close-minded conservative. However, Miller also tweeted that Joaquin Phoenix deserved his Oscar for Joker, which is overtly about class warfare."

Social media users on Monday made light of President Donald Trump (R-Humor Impaired)'s use of a Curb Your Enthusiasm video in a tweet touting his supporter base, given the context of the clip in the show.
"TOUGH GUYS FOR TRUMP!" the president tweeted, alongside a clip of star Larry David from the latest season's premiere. The video showed David's "Larry David" character driving when he veers into a lane and nearly hits a beefy guy riding a motorcycle. The motorcyclist curses David out until David, panicking, dons a "Make America Great Again" hat and the motorcyclist softens: "Just be more careful next time, okay?" he says.
In the 10th season of the show, David occasionally wears the MAGA hat to avoid socializing with Angelenos; in this particular situation, he uses the hat to avoid confrontation with the biker. "Larry in the hat is such a dissonant image," executive producer Jeff Schaffer told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview about the season premiere. "You realized when he put it on that you just never see a person in a MAGA hat in Los Angeles. It's like spotting a double rainbow of intolerance."
Trump, for his part, has repeatedly boasted about how "tough" his supporters are in relation to Democrats. In a 2019 interview, he said, "I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump - I have the tough people, but they don't play it tough - until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad."
Social media users, nevertheless, argued that Trump had misconstrued the video on Monday and "Larry David" began trending on Twitter. "Larry David just Bloomberged ya, but you're too conceited to get the joke," one user tweeted. "?@realDonaldTrump ? @DonaldJTrumpJr ? watch the episode. Larry David wore your hat for a 'people repellent,'" another user wrote.
The Academy Awards paid tribute to many famous faces who passed on over the last year with its In Memoriam segment on Sunday night, but at least three notable names were omitted from the list: Luke Perry, Sid Haig, Tim Conway, Rene Auberjenois and Cameron Boyce.
Recently deceased legends Kobe Bryant, who died Jan. 26, and Kirk Douglas, who passed on Feb. 5, did make it into the 2020 Oscars' slideshow honoring the deceased, which was accompanied by Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell's performance of The Beatles' "Yesterday" at the Dolby Theater.
Other noteworthy stars in the 92nd Annual Academy Awards In Memoriam segment included Doris Day, John Singleton, Peter Mayhew, Agnes Varda, D. A. Pennebaker, Peter Fonda, Diahann Caroll, Rip Torn, Robert Forster and John Witherspoon, among many more.
Best known as Dylan McKay from "Beverly Hills, 90210" and Archie Andrews' father, Fred Andrews, from The CW's "Riverdale," Perry died on March 5, 2019 after suffering a stroke. His final film role was Quentin Tarantino's Best Picture contender "Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood." He was 52.
Conway, who died last May at the age of 85, was best known for his comedic work on TV's "The Carol Burnett Show" but also starred in a string of Disney movies like 1973's "The World's Greatest Athlete," 1975's "The Apple Dumpling Gang" and its 1979 sequel. He co-starred with Don Knotts in 1979's "The Prize Fighter" and 1980's "The Private Eyes."
Jane Fonda has long known how to make a statement, and that extends to her time on the Oscars stage. To present Best Film at the 2020 Academy Awards, the actress, 82, took the stage in a gray pixie cut and a crimson beaded Elie Saab gown she previously wore to Cannes in 2014, and carried the cardinal-red coat she previously declared was "the last article of clothing I will ever buy" as part of her ongoing climate change protests.
Fonda has been an outspoken activist on the subject of climate change, having been arrested numerous times during her Fire Drill Fridays protests at the U.S. Capitol. She most recently held a protest (her 15th) in L.A. the Friday before the Oscars, where she was joined by Best Actor nominee Joaquin Phoenix, who spoke about climate change in his winning speech Sunday.
Fonda wasn't the only one who addressed issues of sustainability and eco-consciousness through fashion Sunday night; Kaitlyn Dever opted for eco-friendly fabrics, Margot Robbie wore vintage and Elizabeth Banks rewore a gown she previously wore in 2004. But she has been one of the most outspoken when it comes to her commitment to consuming less as a means to help the planet.
That means rewearing the gown she previously wore in 2014 to the Grace of Monaco premiere in Cannes (this time pairing it with Pomellato jewelry) and carrying the coat that's become an iconic symbol of her Capitol Hill arrests. After being arrested it in a fourth time, she told the crowd, "You see this coat? I needed something red and I went out and found this coat on sale. This is the last article of clothing that I will ever buy. When I talk to people and say, 'We don't really need to keep shopping. We shouldn't look to shopping for our identity. We don't need more stuff,' I have to walk the talk. So I'm not buying any more clothes."
The Black News Channel, the first 24-hour news channel aimed specifically at an African American audience, is set to launch on Feb. 10 to coincide with Black History Month.
Founded by former Rep. J.C. Watts, a Republican from Oklahoma, the network will premiere in 33 million households primarily in large African American markets such as New York City, Los Angeles and Atlanta.
Based in Tallahassee, Florida, BNC says it will produce television programming and digital content written and produced "by black people, for black people."
BNC programming will feature all-black on-air talent like former libertarian radio host Larry Elder and will pull from historically black colleges and universities for much of its on-air expertise, according to Watts. The network will not be entirely black-run or owned, though: CEO Bob Brillante and COO Jim Zerwekh are both white.
The channel will partner with the National Newspaper Publishers Association, a trade association made up of over 200 African American-owned community newspapers across the country. The association's president, Benjamin Chavis, told NBC that the association would act as a system of national bureaus, and much of BNC's news coverage would build on reporting done by NNPA members at a local level.
Conservationists on a Sea Shepherd vessel out to protect the endangered vaquita porpoise came under gun fire in the upper Gulf of California over the weekend by men in small boats.
The confrontation took place Saturday in what is known as the "critical zone" of an area designated as a refuge for the vaquita because several of the porpoises have been sighted there.
Officials from the Mexican navy, federal police and Mexican environmental protection agency were also onboard the M/V Sharpie.
According to Sea Shepherd, four skiffs known locally as pangas approached the Sharpie and began to chase the vessel at full speed, swerving in front and around the ship.
"This just shows how aggressive the poachers are here. It proves to us that they are armed and that we need to take every panga that we come across seriously, because we have no idea what they are capable of," said Jacqueline Le Duc, Captain of the M/V Sharpie.
Amazon Web Services said on Monday it was seeking to depose President Donald Trump (R-Fat Ass) and Defense Secretary Mark Esper (R-Puppet) in its lawsuit over whether the president was trying "to screw Amazon" when the Pentagon awarded a contract for cloud computing to rival Microsoft Corp.
The Amazon.com Inc unit alleged that Trump, who has publicly derided Amazon head Jeff Bezos and repeatedly criticized the company, exerted undue influence on the decision to deny it the $10 billion contract.
Known as the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure Cloud, or JEDI, the contract is intended to give the military better access to data and technology from remote locations.
In the lawsuit, Amazon said it seeks discovery "demonstrating exactly how President Trump's order to 'screw Amazon' was carried out during the decision making process."
Along with Trump and Esper, Amazon seeks to depose former Defense Secretary James Mattis, Pentagon chief information officer Dana Deasy and four other procurement officials, court records show.
Scientists have identified an enigmatic virus whose genome seems to be almost entirely new to science, populated by unfamiliar genes that have never before been documented in viral research.
The so-called Yaravirus, named after Yara - or Iara, a water-queen figure in Brazilian mythology - was recovered from Lake Pampulha, an artificial lake in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte.
While Yaravirus (Yaravirus brasiliensis) may be no supernatural siren, the virus could prove to be just as mysterious as the water nymph of legend.
That's because the virus constitutes "a new lineage of amoebal virus with a puzzling origin and phylogeny," the research team explains in a new pre-print paper about the discovery.
Only six genes found bore a distant resemblance to known viral genes documented in public scientific databases, and a search through over 8,500 publicly available metagenomes offered no clues as to what Yaravirus might be closely related to.
Ann Lovell had never owned a passport before last year. Now, the 62-year-old teacher is a frequent flier, traveling every few months to Tijuana, Mexico, to buy medication for rheumatoid arthritis - with tickets paid for by the state of Utah's public insurer.
Lovell is one of about 10 state workers participating in a year-old program to lower prescription drug costs by having public employees buy their medication in Mexico at a steep discount compared to U.S. prices. The program appears to be the first of its kind, and is a dramatic example of steps states are taking to alleviate the high cost of prescription drugs.
In one long, exhausting day, Lovell flies from Salt Lake City to San Diego. There, an escort picks her up and takes her across the border to a Tijuana hospital, where she gets a refill on her prescription. After that, she's shuttled back to the airport and heads home.
Lovell had been paying $450 in co-pays every few months for her medication, though she said it would have increased to some $2,400 if she had not started traveling to Mexico. Without the program, she would not be able to afford the medicine she needs.
The cost difference is so large that the state's insurance program for public employees can pay for each patient's flight, give them a $500-per-trip bonus and still save tens of thousands of dollars.
