Dutch championship walking bikes: To finish first ... or ... (YouTube)
"Or maybe not. Don't celebrate until the finish line is crossed. Considering how much the average two-year-old cares about winning, he's probably avoiding the finish line because he doesn't want the event to be over. A good time was had by all." - Neatorama
Born Jerome Silberman, this American actor, screenwriter, director, producer, singer-songwriter and author's big screen debut was in Bonnie and Clyde. By what name is he known professionally?
Jerome Silberman (June 11, 1933 - August 29, 2016), known professionally as Gene Wilder, was an American actor, screenwriter, director, producer, singer-songwriter and author.
Wilder began his career on stage, and made his screen debut in an episode of the TV series The Play of the Week in 1961. Although his first film role was portraying a hostage in the 1967 motion picture Bonnie and Clyde, Wilder's first major role was as Leopold Bloom in the 1968 film The Producers for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. This was the first in a series of collaborations with writer/director Mel Brooks, including 1974's Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, which Wilder co-wrote, garnering the pair an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. Wilder is known for his portrayal of Willy Wonka in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) and for his four films with Richard Pryor: Silver Streak (1976), Stir Crazy (1980), See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989), and Another You (1991). Wilder directed and wrote several of his own films, including The Woman in Red (1984).

More Americans would like to see Donald Trump (R-Corrupt) impeached than wanted Richard Nixon impeached amid the Watergate scandal that led to that that president's resignation.
That includes higher rates among both Republican and Democratic voters. For Republicans, 12 per cent support Mr Trump's impeachment, compared to 7 per cent who supported the same for Nixon six months into his second term. Just 34 per cent of Democrats wanted to impeach Nixon, compared to a whopping 70 per cent who want to see Mr Trump impeached, according to a poll from the Monmouth University Polling Institute.
Among all voters, just 24 per cent of voters wanted to see Nixon out, compared to 41 per cent who say they'd like impeachment proceedings against Mr Trump, as seen in the chart below, by Statista.
The two have similar approval ratings at this point in their presidential terms, however. Mr Trump's approval rating has remained relatively steady, even as a series of seemingly-damaging stories have trickled out via the media, and sits at 39 per cent approving compared to 53 per cent who disapprove.

An impending auction of pop star Madonna's personal items, including a love letter from her ex-boyfriend the late rapper Tupac Shakur, a pair of previously worn panties and a hairbrush containing her hair, was halted by a judge on Tuesday.
Manhattan state Supreme Court Judge Gerald Leibovitz ordered Gotta Have It! Collectibles to pull 22 items from its rock-and-roll-themed auction scheduled for Wednesday.
The Material Girl had earlier sought an emergency court order saying she was "shocked to learn" of the planned online auction of the Tupac letter and had no idea it was no longer in her possession.
Court papers said the Tupac letter was expected to fetch up to $400,000. Tupac, one of the best-selling rappers of all time, dated Madonna in the early 1990s and died of injuries suffered in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting in 1996.
History buffs may have a reason to rejoice after a team of archeologists found evidence of a tomb, which they believe to be that of King Tutankhamun's wife Ankhesenamun.
A group, led by renowned archeologist Zahi Hawass, is sure there is a tomb located near the tomb of pharaoh Ay (1327-1323 B.C.) - Ankhesenamun's second husband - in Egypt's Valley of the Kings, but they are still not fully sure whether it belongs to King Tut's wife or not.
"We are sure there is a tomb there, but we do not know for sure to whom it belongs," Hawass told Live Science in an email.
The article regarding the tomb's discovery by Hawass' team was first published July 7 by National Geographic Italia. The archeologist later confirmed the discovery to Live Science as well. He also said his team plans to excavate the new tomb.
Regarding the presence of the tomb in the area, Hawass, former head of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities, said he found four foundation deposits, adding they are "caches or holes in the ground that were filled with votive objects such as pottery vessels, food remains and other tools as a sign that a tomb construction is being initiated."

A nine-year-old boy from New Mexico physically stumbled upon a rare fossil last November while out for a walk with his parents and brothers. When Jude Sparks (now 10) initially looked at what had tripped him up he and his family didn't quite know what to make of it, according to the New York Times. The family decided to take some photos of their finding and did some research when they got home.
Jude Sparks literally stumbled upon this Stegomastodon fossil while playing in New Mexico in November, 2016. Photo: New Mexico State University
They ended up contacting Professor Peter Houde at New Mexico State University about the unique find after they saw a video of him on YouTube talking about a similar fossil. The fossil he was discussing in the video resembled an elephant, with large tusks and a massive skull, just like what Jude had tripped over. They later discovered that Jude had actually fallen right at the jaw of a million-year-old Stegomastodon fossil.
When Houde got the email from the Sparks family he recognized the fossil quickly, reported the Times. The finding is unusual, probably only the second complete skull ever found in the state of New Mexico, reported NMSU. The Stegomastodon is likely 1.2 million years old, Houde estimates. While its name sounds like that of a dinosaur, it's actually a relative of elephants. The dinosaurs walked the Earth millions of years before this elephant-like creature did, the most recent dinos died out 65 million years ago.
But Jude's discovery is still a rare fossil, even if it doesn't belong to a T-Rex or a Stegosaurus. Jude and his family were able to join Professor Houde in May to help uncover the skull. Part of the reason it was delayed for months was that the skull originally sat on private property and it took some time to get the chemicals needed to preserve the bones, reported NMSU. The exact location where the fossil was discovered will be kept under wraps, at the landowner's request.
Donald Trump's (R-Crooked) administration is closing the US State Department office tasked with investigating war crimes and trying to prevent genocides, reports suggest.
The Office of Global Criminal Justice, which holds war criminals to account, is being shut and its leader, Todd Buchwald, moved to a job in the department's legal affairs unit, it has been claimed.
Rex Tillerson, the US Secretary of State, is said to be re-organising his department to focus more on America's economic and military interests and less on issues such as human rights.
David Scheffer, a professor of law at Northwestern University, who was previously the first US ambassador-at-large for war crimes issues, said: "This is a very harsh signal to the rest of the world that the United States is essentially downgrading the importance of accountability for the commission of atrocity crimes.

The White House Military Office is reportedly shelling out $130,000 a month to rent some space at Trump Tower in New York City, which should raise a few eyebrows since that property belongs to a company the president used to control and has not divested from.
Though The Wall Street Journal reports that the military is renting the space from a private owner likely to be the president's NYC neighbor, the fee is more than double what such a space should rent for.
White House Military Office does legally need to be close to the president, since they are the arbiters of information such as the nuclear codes, but the president no longer spends much time at his NYC headquarters, so $130,000 seems a bit steep. Right now, the military has a lease for the spot through September of 2018, to the tune of $2.39 million.
The office first started renting in Trump Tower in the middle of April, during which they paid $180,000. Added on to the $130,000 they'd pay to rent space in Trump Tower each month through 2020, the price tag would come to just under $6 million.
With the cameras still turned off for daily White House press briefings, deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has exchanged barbs with a Fox reporter over the Trump administration's decision to take the briefings off air.
Fox news reporter John Roberts left Tuesday's briefing early, his decision to do so not going unnoticed by Huckabee Sanders, who commented: "John Roberts is bored today, he's stepping out."
Her joke was matched by Roberts, who quipped back: "If it was on camera, I might not be," The Hill reported.
The reporter later took to Twitter to clarify he would have remained in the meeting had it been on camera, but he had a live appearance for Fox instead.
The last on-camera briefing at the White House was on Thursday, June 29, with many journalists and media outlets concerned the off-camera briefings are becoming too frequent.

Callista Gingrich (R-Adultress), Donald Trump's (R-Philanderer) nominee to be ambassador to the Vatican, told skeptical Democrats on Tuesday that the president wants the United States to be an environmental leader even after pulling the country out of the landmark accord aimed at combatting global warming.
Testifying before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Gingrich said Trump is committed to sustaining "our clean air and our clean water." She said "we aren't backing off of that" despite Trump's recent decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement.
"We're all called to be stewards of the land," said Gingrich, the wife of Newt Gingrich (R-Oink), the former Republican House speaker and a close ally of Trump's.
Gingrich said she believes that climate change exists and that "some of it is due to human behavior."
She was a congressional aide when she began a six-year affair with Newt Gingrich, then a married Republican congressman.
A Republican lawmaker asked a panel of NASA scientists Tuesday for opinions on whether Mars could have had civilized life "thousands of years ago." He did it, his spokesman later clarified, with a "wink."
"You have indicated that Mars had - was totally different thousands of years ago," Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Putin Fan), asked during a hearing of the space subcommittee of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. "Is it possible that there was a civilization on Mars thousands of years ago?"
The congressman's question followed earlier testimony by NASA scientist Kenneth Farley about plans for the Mars 2020 mission, which involves looking for evidence of life on the red planet from the first billion years of the solar system.
"Prior to about 3.6 billion years ago, Mars had rivers, lakes and possibly a vast northern ocean," Farley said earlier in the hearing. "Sophisticated analyses … have richly documented ancient environments with all conditions believed necessary to sustain life [on Mars]."
Farley corrected Rohrabacher's question, stating, "So, the evidence is that Mars was different billions of years ago, not thousands of years ago."
