"An Oresteia: Agamemnon by Aiskhylos; Elektra by Sophokles; Orestes by Euripides" by Anne Carson: A review by Emily Wilson
Aeschylus' Oresteia, composed and first performed in 458 BC, is the only complete dramatic trilogy we have from ancient Athens. Not all Athenian trilogies were fashioned from related stories, but the Oresteia was: it tells what happens to the family of Agamemnon when the great general returns home to Argos, victorious from the Trojan War, with his concubine, Cassandra, and spoils from the conquered city.
Mike Osegueda: No Doubt, they're still a band ... (McClatchy Newspapers)
Let's make this clear right from the start - No Doubt never broke up. Yes, it's been five years since we've seen the ska/pop band together as one, but guitarist Tom Dumont was sure they would re-form. In fact, he had No Doubt.
Jordan Levin: Coldplay brings hot tunes, free CDs to concert stages (McClatchy Newspapers)
Despite being the adored, much analyzed and fantasized about lead singer of one of the planet's biggest rock bands, Chris Martin of Coldplay is practical, even humble about his role. Sitting on the floor of a rented house in Los Angeles, enjoying the California sunshine and the taste of the strawberry he's just finished, Martin is deliberately and charmingly low-key.

Margaret Cho (born December 5, 1968) is an American comedian, fashion designer, actress>, author, and recording artist. Cho is best known for her stand-up routines, through which she critiques social and political problems, especially those pertaining to race, sexuality, and sex. She has also directed and appeared in music videos and has her own clothing line. She has frequently supported gay rights, and she identifies herself as queer. She has won awards for her humanitarian efforts on behalf of women, Asians, and the LGBT community.
In 1994, ABC developed and aired a sitcom based on Cho's stand-up routine. The show, All American Girl, was initially feted as the first show prominently featuring an East Asian family.
Cho has expressed subsequent regret for much of what transpired during the production of the show.

Ricardo Montalbán
Source
Ricardo Montalbán was disturbed by the portrayal of Mexicans in the media, so along with Richard Hernandez, Val de Vargas, Rudolfo Hoyos Jr., Carlos Rivas, Tony de Marco, and Henry Darrow established the Nosotros ("We") Foundation in 1970 to advocate for Latinos in the movie and television industry. He served as its first president.
The foundation created the Golden Eagle Awards, an annual awards show that highlights Latino actors. The awards are presented in conjunction with the Nosotros American Latino Film Festival (NALFF), held at the Ricardo Montalbán Theatre in Hollywood.

2 Ted Leonsis
Charlie answered:
There have been many, but based on the context, it must be
Margaret Cho
There are many things called "Golden Eagle Awards," including film awards give out by a group called CINE, and there is an award so named given out by the Society of American Military Engineers, but again, based on the context, you must mean the awards given by Nosotros, which was founded by
Ricardo Montalban.

Did we have a "day off" (as subtly suggested by Joe S - who thinks that the Professor and I were born yesterday...) and no one told me? According to my records, yesterday was, "Day 19" of the contest. And now according to your page, it's "Day 21?" Have I slipped into, "Alice In Wonderland" or something even more sinister? Are you (and Joe S) messing with my head perchance?? (Of course I still luv ya both!) But...
Okay, now, down to the business at hand:
1) Korean standup comedienne, Margaret Cho, starred in the short-lived TV series, "All-American Girl." She plays Margaret Kim: the daughter of Korean Immigrants - which is true gf her.
AND
2) Mexican born actor, Ricardo Montalban, et al., established the Nosotros Foundation in 1970 to advocate for Latinos in the movie and television industry. The foundation created the, Golden Eagle Awards, an annual awards show that highlights Latino actors.
PS: I think I have identified the culprit(s) in the dastardly Petunia caper. Last night I put a couple of pots on top of an upside down garbage can. When I went out to retrieve my newspaper this morning - one pot was overturned and the others had loose dirt. Therefore, I have deduced squirrels (early morning diggers) trying to implicate innocent bunnies! I am almost ready for them...

PS Joe almost got his wish . . . our cable was down from 10 last night until 4 this afternoon. A couple more hours and I would have had a 'day off'.

Margaret Cho was the All-American Girl
And, Joe S wrote:
Did anyone take the day off? No? I thought not! I was going to take the day off but then this happened!
Luckily I was not hurt and the assassin was apprehended and taken into custody. I will not be intimidated! And just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean you're not to get me.
1 - Margaret Cho
2 - Ricardo Montalban
Hey,wait a minute! Isn't this supposed to be Day 20? (I'm not really outraged Marty, I just staying with my paranoid persona.)

Christie's auction house said Wednesday that an early Bob Dylan poem was based on an existing country tune. "Little Buddy," estimated to fetch $10,000 to $15,000 once it goes on sale June 23, was "a revised version of lyrics of a Hank Snow song," Christie's said.
Fans of the late Canadian country singer "came out of the woodwork" to say they recognized the lyrics after The Associated Press wrote about the composition on Tuesday, said Christie's pop culture specialist Simeon Lipman.
Dylan was 16 and still going by his given name Bob Zimmerman when he submitted "Little Buddy" in the summer of 1957 for a newspaper at a summer camp in Wisconsin.
Simeon said Wednesday that the verse is still "among the earliest known handwritten lyrics of Bob Dylan," and expected to draw collectors.

CBS has canceled long-running military action-drama "The Unit" and veteran crime drama "Without a Trace," and NBC is putting an end to Thursday night comedy mainstay "My Name Is Earl" and thriller "Medium." The moves come after late-in-the-game saves for relatively new fan favorites like NBC's "Chuck" and Fox's "Dollhouse."
And hours after 20th TV-produced "The Unit" was canceled, the studio's syndication arm, Twentieth TV, announced that the military drama starring Dennis Haysbert has been sold in syndication for a fall 2010 launch.
ABC in particular has been receptive to picking up rival shows, having taken "Scrubs" after NBC canceled the series last year and committing to take on "The New Adventures of Old Christine" should CBS have canceled the series (The eye network opted to renew the comedy).
Both "Earl" and "The Unit" ran four seasons; "Medium" for five; "Trace" for seven. "Earl" averaged 4.5 million viewers this season, "The Unit" pulled 9.6 million viewers, and "Medium" drew 7.2 million viewers.
A couple of television crime-fighters are on the move: Patricia Arquette and "Medium" from NBC to CBS, and Simon Baker's "The Mentalist" to CBS' Thursday-night lineup.
CBS, the last of the top four broadcasters to reveal its fall schedule to advertisers this week, said it was canceling "Without a Trace," "The Unit" and "Eleventh Hour." New series with Jenna Elfman and Julianna Margulies are moving in.
CBS tinkered with its Monday-night comedy lineup, except for 9 p.m. stalwart "Two and a Half Men." The network is moving "How I Met Your Mother" up a half hour to 8 p.m., and shifting "Big Bang Theory" to 9:30 p.m. in the hope of nurturing it as a hit.
Much like it did with its "CSI" franchise, CBS is now spinning off "NCIS," which has surprised even network executives with its burst of popularity the past year or so. "NCIS: Los Angeles" features Chris O'Donnell and rapper LL Cool J as a former Navy SEAL, and will air directly after "NCIS" on Tuesday.
An Englishwoman from the quiet seaside town of Ilfracombe has been confirmed as a distant cousin of Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley -- but she had never heard his music before, a report said Wednesday.
Carole Tovey, 66, who was born Carole Marley, said she prefers more middle of the road songs.
Her relationship with Marley stems from her great-great uncle, Albert Thomas Marley, who went to Jamaica in the late 19th century to make a living in the mahogany trade, the paper said.
He married Ellen Bloomfield and they had a son, Norval -- who had an affair with Cedella Booker, a 17-year-old girl of African descent, at the age of 50. The result was Robert Nesta Marley -- Bob Marley.
"It has always been a joke in the family," said Tovey. "People would always say: 'Are you any relation to Bob Marley?' and I would say: 'Yes, he's my cousin'. We would laugh about it. Now it turns out it is the gospel truth."

59-year-old singer Natalie Cole underwent successful kidney transplant surgery "and is resting comfortably," publicist Maureen O'Connor said Wednesday. Cole will postpone her summer tour, which was set to begin June 5 and run through November, as she recovers.
Cole had been receiving dialysis three times a week since September. She still continued to perform, even overseas, in support of her latest album, the Grammy-winning "Still Unforgettable,"
The kidney dialysis is unrelated to Cole's struggle with hepatitis C, a liver disease spread through contact with infected blood. She announced her hepatitis diagnosis last year and said that the disease was likely caused by her drug use years ago.
Cole received painful chemotherapy to treat the hepatitis and "within four months, I had kidney failure," she told Larry King on his CNN show last month. Without a donor, she would need dialysis for the rest of her life, she said.
The shanty home of another "Slumdog Millionaire" child star was torn down by Mumbai authorities Wednesday as they demolished part of a city slum where she lived.
Munni Qureshi - the stepmother of 9-year-old Rubina Ali, who portrayed a young Latika, the Oscar-winning film's heroine - said her husband was beaten by police who were supervising the demolition. She said he was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Last week, bulldozers demolished the home of Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail, another of the film's child stars, in a similar cleanup drive. Though "Slumdog Millionaire" won eight Oscars and brought in more than $326 million, it has done little so far to improve the lives of Rubina and Azhar.

Michael Jackson has pushed back the first four of his comeback concerts in London this year, organisers said Wednesday, but they stressed the decision was not linked to his health.
The first scheduled show on July 8 at London's O2 arena will now take place on July 13.
Promoters and producers AEG Live said the rescheduling was done because of the "sheer magnitude" of the show and the desire for fans attending the opening nights to get the same experience planned for all 50 shows.
Fans who bought tickets for the first show will still be the first to see the singer in action, but ticketholders for the next three initially scheduled concerts will have to wait until early 2010 to see the rescheduled shows.
The National Archives lost a computer hard drive containing massive amounts of sensitive data from the Clinton administration, including Social Security numbers, addresses, and Secret Service and White House operating procedures, congressional officials said Tuesday.
One of former Vice President Al Gore's three daughters is among those whose Social Security numbers were on the drive, but it was not clear which one. Other information includes logs of events, social gatherings and political records.
Archives spokeswoman Susan Cooper said in a written statement that the agency was preparing to notify affected individuals of the breach. The representative of former President Bill Clinton has been notified, but Cooper gave no indication whether the former president's personal information was on the hard drive.
"The drive contains an as yet unknown amount of personally identifiable information of White House staff and visitors," the statement added.
A former beauty queen has sued International Creative Management, claiming the firm and one of its top talent agents subjected her to unwanted sexual advances.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of Claire Robinson alleges ICM and agent Jack Gilardi exploited the former Miss British Columbia and that she was sent to auditions for roles that didn't exist or weren't available to her. She alleges that one of Gilardi's friends, John Rockwell, introduced her to the agent and in 2008 threatened and raped her.
The class-action lawsuit also seeks to end a practice it calls "hip pocketing," in which an agent sends young, aspiring actresses on fake auditions that quickly turn to sexual harassment.
Robinson's suit also claims that Gilardi inappropriately touched her while en route in an ICM limousine to a stuntmen awards show in 2007.

Actor Rip Torn has been given probation in a drunken driving case in Connecticut.
The 78-year-old Salisbury resident was approved Tuesday for admission into another alcohol education program. The judge says Torn must be retested for his driver's license because of his severe hearing impairment. The actor will still be allowed to drive.
Torn was arrested near his home in December while driving a car with a Christmas tree tied to the top. He pleaded not guilty in January to drunken driving.
He qualified for the program even though he has two previous drunken driving arrests in New York.
Archaeologists digging on Jerusalem's Mount of Olives have discovered a nearly 3,000-year-old jar handle bearing ancient Hebrew script, a find significantly older than most inscribed artifacts unearthed in the ancient city, an archaeologist said. The Iron Age handle is inscribed with the Hebrew name Menachem, which was the name of an Israelite king and is still common among Jews.
The inscription also includes a partly intact letter, the Hebrew character "lamed," meaning "to." That suggests the jar was a gift to someone named Menachem, said Ron Beeri, who directed the excavation for the Israel Antiquities Authority. There is no indication the inscription refers to the king himself.
The name and similar variants have been found on Egyptian pottery dating back 3,500 years, and the Bible lists Menachem Ben Gadi as an ancient king of Israel. But this is the first time an artifact bearing the name has been unearthed in Jerusalem, Beeri said.
Based on the style of the inscription, he dated the handle to around 900 B.C., the time of the first Jewish Temple in Jerusalem as recounted in the Bible.
A Hong Kong property tycoon and collector who bought a flawless blue diamond for a record $9.5 million (6 million pounds), has named it the "Star of Josephine", auction house Sotheby's said on Wednesday.
Joseph Lau Luen-Hung made the winning bid last week by telephone for the diamond, which fetched the highest price per carat for any gemstone at the auction and a world record price for a fancy vivid blue diamond at auction.
The rectangular-shaped blue stone weighs 7.03 carats, about the size of a small coin, and was the rarest to enter the international market this year.
