Mark Morford: "Trump: No longer fun, now just terrifying" (SF Gate)
It's almost beside the point to note that all those years of relentless hate speech, misogyny, homophobia and fear-mongering aimed at everything and everyone - blacks, Muslims, immigrants, women, gays, sex, abortion, science, liberals, higher education, et al - have now paid off in ways not even putrescent conservative masterminds like Karl Rove and the Koch brothers could see coming.
Bobby Monks and Kathleen Campion: HOW THIS ONE OBSCURE POLITICAL BATTLE COULD HAVE A BIG IMPACT ON YOUR RETIREMENT SAVINGS
The Department of Labor wants to impose both accountability and transparency on the industry that manages some $3 trillion in investor retirement funds. Despite the uproar, the proposed fiduciary rule change would establish two surprisingly humble requirements: 1. Brokers must act in the best interests of their clients. 2. All the fees they collect must be disclosed.

A fascinating new book explores what it really means to have a "good death"-and how America is doing end-of-life care wrong.

Before there was "the Sixties," there was the relatively more tranquil 1960s. To appreciate the cultural excitement whipped up by The Graduate, it's useful to recall that it belongs to that quieter part of the decade before the apocalypse.

The World Of Designer Toys Awaits You
By DJ Useo
I hope I'm turning some of you on to something you'll love - The world of designer toys!
I was laid up in hospital once after a nasty surgery. Some pals of mine brought me some cool retro toys to cheer me up, & I found I really liked a cool toy around. Here's a pic of one I enjoy a lot.
My desk had a large flat drawer underneath, & as time passed, that drawer got full of goodies! Here's what it looks like now. ( The cats love to fish stuff out lol )
Which brings me to 2011 when I discovered
October Toys online toy store.
( octobertoys.com/ )
October Toys has a fine forum with many past posts, & I saw so many fine toy designs that I had to get some.
Some designer toys like Glyos figures are really affordable. Most designer toys are made in very small amounts & can be a bit pricey accordingly. I see plenty of vinyl designs under a foot tall that run for around $70. The thing is. They ALWAYS go up in value.
A great starting place to experience the cool stuff that is for sale online is
Spanky Stokes toy blog.
This site really is fun, & also informative. You can often find out about super fine toys that will be sold out very soon, but now you'll hear in time to get yourself some.
Spanky's also has links for more cool toy blogs. After a while, I hope you end up with a great shelf full of goodies. I buy in moderation, but after a few years, you sure have quite a fun shelf full. I always hear from friends about how much they like the ones I have on display. I even keep a few extra in case someone wants one. I am not heartless enough to make a friend walk away empty handed.
Soon, you'll be enjoying online stores like
3d Retro
,
Rotofugi
, &
Suburban Vinyl
. Those three stores are always in a constant competition for my toy business. Another of my favorites is the
Super Sucklord's Store
( suckadelic.myshopify.com/ )
. That place is the LOL'est!
Also, October Toys
( octobertoys.com/ )
does a very entertaining weekly youtube show about all things designer toy.
TOYBREAK
will always have you desiring some of the wares displayed.
I will tell ya, I don't like everything I see, but it's still a hoot & a holler! Have fun with your new toys!

Dos Equis Moves On
"Most Interesting Man"
The "Most Interesting Man in the World" is taking a one-way trip to Mars. Dos Equis announced it is ending its campaign with actor Jonathan Goldsmith as the "Most Interesting Man" and choosing a new spokesperson to carry on the title later in 2016.
Goldsmith's final TV commercial, "Mission to Mars," launched today on the Dos Equis YouTube channel. The news comes after Goldsmith's recent legal troubles.
Goldsmith's former talent agency is suing him, alleging the actor has not paid his former agent 10 percent of his nearly $1 million-per-year salary from Dos Equis. Goldsmith filed a cross-complaint saying the man who owns the firm "assumed a fake name" in order to "fool others about his so-called career as a personal manager."
Dos Equis says they are "evolving" their campaign past one specific spokesperson and saying "Adios Amigo" to Goldsmith's character.

Trump Model Lawsuit
Alexia Palmer
A judge will decide by the end of this month whether to proceed with a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a Jamaican fashion model against Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump's modeling agency, the judge's office said.
Alexia Palmer accuses Trump Model Management LLC of lying to the federal government in its work-visa application that said she would be paid a $75,000-a-year salary while living in the United States, according to court documents.
Instead, according to court papers, Palmer received a total of $3,880.75 during the three years she was under contract with the agency. The complaint alleges "fraudulent misrepresentation" and violations of U.S. immigration and labor laws. It asks for $225,000 in back pay.
The suit was originally filed in October 2014. A decision on a pending motion by Trump Model Management to dismiss is expected by the end of March, the clerk for Judge Analisa Torres, who is presiding over the case in the U.S District Court, Southern District, told Reuters.
If Torres rules the case can proceed, it could revive attention on Trump's foreign labor practices at a time when the celebrity billionaire's rise in American politics has riveted the world's attention.

Filibuster Religious Bigotry Measure
Missouri Democrats
A filibuster by Democrats in the Missouri Senate pushed past the 24-hour mark Tuesday as they tried to block a Republican proposal to add greater religious protections to the Missouri Constitution for some business owners and individuals opposed to gay marriage
The Missouri proposal, which could go before voters later this year, highlights the tension between civil rights and religious liberties that still exist in many parts of the nation following the U.S. Supreme Court ruling last year that legalized same-sex marriages in all states.
The Missouri measure would prohibit government penalties against those who cite "a sincere religious belief" while declining to provide goods or services of "expressional or artistic creation" for same-sex marriage ceremonies or ensuring celebrations.
Though it doesn't list specific protected businesses, the measure comes after bakers and florists have faced legal challenges in other states for declining to provide services for same-sex weddings.

Democrats Denounce GOP Comment
'Pinata'
Democrats accused Republicans on Tuesday of taking their cues from Donald Trump after the Senate's No. 2 Republican said President Barack Obama's nominee to the Supreme Court should expect to be treated like a "piñata."
Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said Republicans were "acting like big, tough people threatening to destroy the reputation of a Supreme Court nominee they haven't even met yet."
Reid and other Democrats denounced a comment by Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn of Texas, who told reporters late Monday that anyone nominated by Obama to the high court "will bear some resemblance to a piñata."
Reid called the comment beneath the dignity of the Senate and said it was a threat in the mode of insults and bullying by Trump, the GOP front-runner for president.
"They don't know who the nominee is. They don't know anything about the person, but they already have in their mind they are going to beat this person like a piñata," Reid said.

'Pawn Stars' Figure Jailed
Chumlee
The man known to millions of cable TV viewers as Chumlee on the reality show "Pawn Stars" was being held in a Las Vegas jail late Wednesday following his arrest on felony weapon and drug charges.
Police said Austin Lee Russell was arrested when officers serving a search warrant in a sexual assault investigation found methamphetamine, marijuana and at least one gun at his southwest Las Vegas home.
The 33-year-old Russell wasn't booked on a sex-crime allegation. Officer Larry Hadfield, a department spokesman, said that part of the investigation is continuing.
Records showed Russell was being held on 19 drug possession charges and one weapon charge. His bail was set at $62,000.

Threatened Bodyguard
Katt Williams
Comedian Katt Williams faced an initial court appearance Wednesday, a day after he was accused of threatening to kill his bodyguard during an attack inside his Georgia home.
Williams made the threat while an acquaintance beat the bodyguard with a baseball bat and choked him, apparently because the bodyguard didn't engage in criminal activity the comedian wanted him to, according to a statement from Hall County sheriff's Deputy Nicole Bailes.
Authorities didn't say what the criminal activity was. The alleged beating happened Feb. 28, and a day later, Williams was accused of attacking an employee at a swimming pool supply store during an argument.
Williams, 44, faces charges of terroristic threats, false imprisonment and aggravated assault, jail records show. He was to make an appearance Wednesday from the county jail in Gainesville, where a camera system is used for inmates to appear before judges.
Investigators say they found large amounts of marijuana, along with several firearms inside the home, about 50 miles northeast of Atlanta.

Trump Endorsement
NASCAR
When Brian France endorsed Donald Trump for president, the chairman and chief executive of NASCAR thought of it as nothing more than a "routine endorsement."
He's been dealing with the fallout ever since.
France's decision to personally back the front-runner for the Republican nomination has roiled a sport his family built from the ground up. It's threatened a decade of work to broaden NASCAR's appeal among minorities, upset one of the most powerful teams in the sport and risked a break with the corporate sponsors that are its financial lifeblood.
France acknowledged he's had to have conversations with sponsors since making the endorsement, which came as NASCAR is seeking a new main sponsor for its top series.
France's appearance at a Trump rally a few days before last week's Super Tuesday elections fits with the sport's history of occasionally blending politics with the action at the track. France's grandfather, NASCAR founder Bill France Sr., endorsed George Wallace for president. Its all-time winningest driver, Richard Petty, celebrated his 200th victory with President Ronald Reagan and ran for statewide office in North Carolina in the 1990s.

Flown Over U.S.
Spy Drones
The Pentagon has deployed drones several times over U.S. territory on non-military spy missions, but the flights have been rare and lawful, according to a Defense Department report obtained by USA Today under the Freedom of Information Act.
The report, by the Defense Department inspector general, said the Pentagon had flown drones over U.S. territory fewer than 20 times between 2006 and 2015, always in compliance with existing U.S. law, USA Today reported on Wednesday.
Use of aerial surveillance drones over the United States became public in 2013 when the FBI director Robert Mueller testified before Congress that the bureau employed spy drones during investigations on rare occasions, USA Today said.

Shipwreck Believed To Be Civil War-Era Steamer
N.Carolina
A shipwreck discovered off the coast of North Carolina is likely one of three Confederate blockade runners known to have been lost in the area, archaeologists said on Monday.
The remains of the iron-hulled steamer were located on February 27 near Oak Island. It would be the first Civil War-era vessel found in the area in decades, said the North Carolina Office of State Archaeology.
Billy Ray Morris, director of the state's underwater archaeology branch, said he expected to be able to positively identify the 225-foot-long (68-metre) vessel when he leads a dive team to examine it on Wednesday.
The shipwreck was located in the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the Cape Fear River near Fort Caswell, about 30 miles (48 km) downstream from Wilmington, according to the state.
Given the wreck's size, Morris said he suspected it is the Agnes E. Fry, which was used to elude Union naval vessels that sought to keep supplies from reaching the Confederacy at the port of Wilmington during the Civil War.
