William Everett "Billy" Preston (September 2, 1946 - June 6, 2006) was a musician whose work included R&B, rock, soul, funk and gospel. Preston became famous, first as a session musician with such artists as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and The Beatles, and was later successful as a solo artist with such hit pop singles as "Space Race", "Will It Go Round in Circles" and "Nothing from Nothing", and a string of albums.
In 1962, he joined Little Richard's band as an organist and it was while performing in Hamburg that Preston met The Beatles. In 1963, he performed organ on Sam Cooke's Night Beat album and released his first gospel album, 16 Years Soul, that same year. In 1965, he released his secular debut album, The Most Exciting Organ Ever, and that same year played organ and performed on the rock and roll show, Shindig!.

Billy Preston's gifts were as wide as his afro (so sayeth the Interweb). Preston released "Greazee Soul," his first album, in 1963, and "The Most Exciting Organ Ever!" (1965) which was co-arranged with Sly Stone. I have both albums, and when I get my turntable will play them again!
Here's,'my man' Billy!
PS: Congrats mj! Now that you are retired, you will be busier than ever, as everyone thinks you have all this free time on your hands...
You may even start another job as I have done - several times. Enjoy! :)
And, Joe S answered:

First it was James Earl Jones, then Harry Anderson (Night Court, remember?) came along and now It's Toni Trucks, the latest Hollywood star from Manistee. You can see Toni this fall on Made in Jersey.
Toni's still a hometown girl, she comes back and spends time with her family and friends. Her father Lee Trucks and I have been friends for years.

The hawk that patrols the skies over Wimbledon tennis courts to scare away the pigeons that interfere with play has been stolen, UK Metropolitan police told ABCNews.com
Rufus, a 4 ½-year-old Harris hawk, and his cage were stolen out of a car either Thursday night or Friday morning in Wimbledon, according to police spokeswoman Kate Campbell. The car was parked on a private driveway, and a back window was cracked open for air, she said.
In addition to patrolling the skies at Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, Rufus was a family pet, Campbell said, adding that his owners are "distressed" over the disappearance.
Rufus was contracted to work at Wimbledon - and a few other pest patrol gigs - through Avian Environmental Consultants. Avian's blog even features a photo of Rufus from last year's tournament.
Using birds of prey to ward off pigeons has been a practice at Wimbledon since 1999, according to Avian. Rufus circled before and after the athletes took to the courts to scare the pigeons, but not to attack them. His presence alone kept them away.

Alec Baldwin and his yoga instructor fiancee tied the knot Saturday in a New York City church, with a guest list that included family and famous Hollywood pals.
Baldwin, 54, and Hilaria Thomas, 28, married at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in a Catholic ceremony performed by the Rev. George Deas. His "30 Rock" co-star Tina Fey, as well as director Woody Allen and Baldwin's actor-brother, Stephen, were in attendance.
Thomas wore a silk magnolia Amsale gown with cap sleeves and a keyhole back neckline accented with crystal buttons. Baldwin's suit was designed by Tom Ford.
The reception was being held at New York University's Kimmel Center.
Germany's Margravial Opera House in Bayreuth, famous for its annual Wagner festival, joins the list of sites classed by UN cultural body UNESCO as world heritage, the organisation said on Saturday.
The World Heritage Committee, which is meeting in Saint Petersburg, called the opera house "a unique monument of European baroque music festival culture", UNESCO's German Commission said in a statement.
Stepping into the opera house is like going back in time, making it immensely popular with the crowds that come every summer to hear the music of Richard Wagner at the popular Bayreuth Festival.
Built between 1746 and 1750 by Italian architecht Guiseppe Galli Bibiena for margrave Frederick III of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, the opera house has a ballroom typical of the Absolutist society at the time with wooden dressing rooms, unique streaked marble and painted decoration.
On a dimly lit stage the godfather of Afghan rock prepares for the next song, as images of the French movie La Haine (Hate) flicker above and his audience is asked what song would they sing if they were lying in the gutter dying.
For "District Unknown", Afghanistan's first heavy metal band, the answer could be "Two Seconds After the Blast", from their soon-to-be recorded first album, "A 24-hour life time".
"We live under the constant fear of sudden death," says Qasem Foushanji, guitarist with "District Unknown", one of a handful of bands to emerge with mentoring from Afghanistan's first school of rock, which opened in May.
The thumping, heavy metal rock and aggressive lyrics which reverberate within the sound-proof walls of Kabul's "Sound Centre" music school allows young Afghans to vent their anger at the violence they have witnessed during years of war before and after the September 11, 2001, attacks in the United States.
Kabul's rock music school, housed inside the small "Venue" restaurant in the Afghan capital, also reflects the return, although sometimes tentative, of social and individual freedoms since the end of the Taliban rule in 1996.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service says a stolen Salvador Dali painting has been mailed back to New York from Europe and intercepted at Kennedy International Airport.
The $150,000 work of art was swiped from a Madison Avenue art gallery last week by a man posing as a customer who walked out with the watercolor and ink painting in a shopping bag.
Inspection service spokeswoman Donna Harris tells The New York Times the gallery received an email this week that said the painting had been sent back. A tracking number was included. The gallery contacted police, and the painting was intercepted Friday.
The 1949 painting, "Cartel des Don Juan Tenorio," was part of the Venus Over Manhattan art gallery's very first exhibition. The gallery didn't comment.

A group of about 150 Mormons quit their church in a mass resignation ceremony in Salt Lake City on Saturday in a rare display of defiance ending decades of disagreement for some over issues ranging from polygamy to gay marriage.
Participants from Utah, Arizona, Idaho and elsewhere gathered in a public park to sign a "Declaration of Independence from Mormonism."
The Utah-based Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is known for its culture of obedience, and the mass ceremony was a seldom-seen act of collective revolt.
Among the reasons cited by those resigning are the church's political activism against gay marriage and doctrinal teachings that conflict with scientific findings or are perceived as racist or sexist.
Others cite inconsistencies in the Mormons' explanation of its own history, including the practice of polygamy. The church renounced plural marriage over a century ago as Utah was seeking statehood.

The event concurred with a one-week long International Music Festival of Asian-Pacific Region. Artists, dancers, musicians and actors from 19 countries have taken part in more than 60 concerts in the centre of Siberia.

A Tanzanian lawmaker broke down in tears in parliament Thursday as she pleaded the cause of fellow albinos, persecuted and regularly targeted for ritual killings in the region.
Al-Shaymaa Kwegyr told the house that when albinos are targeted, little is done to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
"We are always living in fear. What sins have we committed to be treated like this?" she said, as tears rolled down her cheeks.
In Tanzania, they are killed and dismembered due to a widespread belief that charms made from their body parts bring good fortune and prosperity. Many of the murders have occurred around the country's northern Mwanza region.
Such ritual killings have also occurred in neighbouring Burundi and some of the attackers are suspected to be from Tanzania, where albino body parts can fetch thousands of dollars.
Millions of birds have died and millions more are in danger from an obscure but widespread hazard in 12 Western states - uncapped plastic pipes used to mark many of the 3.4 million mining claims on public lands, wildlife advocates say.
Migratory birds from western meadowlarks and mountain bluebirds to screech owls and woodpeckers are mistaking the open ends of polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, pipes for natural hollows suitable for nesting, roosting or congregating to generate body heat.
Doomed birds enter the PVC pipes, which average 4 inches in diameter and stand about 4 feet high, but become trapped as they fail to gain traction on the smooth interior surfaces and cannot extend their wings to fly out of the narrow cavities. They eventually succumb to starvation or dehydration.
Federal land management officials acknowledge the threat, estimated by the American Bird Conservancy as responsible for at least 1 million bird deaths a year, although mining industry representatives say wildlife advocates exaggerate the problem.
South Korean shaman Lee Soon-ae performs prayers during a shipboard ceremony intended to exorcise the demons that threaten fishermen and bring good luck to everybody on board, off Incheon, in the west of Seoul June 24, 2012. Though an ancient practice, Korean shamanism - in which singing and dancing are used in trance rituals addressed to specific gods, often to get an answer to specific questions - had long been suppressed in Asia's second most Christian nation. But today, visiting a mudang - shaman priest or priestess - is so common that politicians consult them seeking answers to questions such as whether they should relocate their ancestors' remains to ensure good luck in the next election. Shaman characters have also featured in popular television shows.

Al Qaeda-linked Mali Islamists armed with Kalashnikovs and pick-axes destroyed centuries-old mausoleums of saints in the UNESCO-listed city of Timbuktu on Saturday in front of shocked locals, witnesses said.
The Islamist Ansar Dine group backs strict sharia, Islamic law, and considers the shrines of the local Sufi version of Islam to be idolatrous. Sufi shrines have also been attacked by hardline Salafists in Egypt and Libya in the past year.
The attack came just days after UNESCO placed Timbuktu on its list of heritage sites in danger and will recall the 2001 dynamiting by the Taliban of two 6th-century statues of Buddha carved into a cliff in Bamiyan in central Afghanistan.
Located on an old Saharan trading route that saw salt from the Arab north exchanged for gold and slaves from black Africa to the south, Timbuktu blossomed in the 16th century as an Islamic seat of learning, home to priests, scribes and jurists.
