zEN mAN (observing the sad demise of the Hostess Baking products....the board of directors for Hostess Inc. in Irving Texas declared the filing for bankruptcy for the Hostess brand of bakery products....what a sad day for unnutritious shit food with cute names and questionable dietary value (they actually had "nutritional facts" on the labels)....I must admit that I've secreted my share of pink "sno balls" into my shopping cart...in fact I went up to my local Safeway this evening and the shelves were empty....long live the "Twinkie"!)
Julie Deborah Kavner (born September 7, 1950) is an American film and television actress, comedian and voice artist. Noted for her role as Marge Simpson on the animated television series The Simpsons, she also voices other characters for the show, including Jacqueline Bouvier, and Patty and Selma Bouvier.
Born in Los Angeles, Kavner grew up in Southern California, attending Beverly Hills High School and later San Diego State University. Known for her improvisation and distinctive "honeyed gravel voice," Kavner was cast in her first professional acting role as Brenda Morgenstern in Rhoda in 1974. She received a Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Primetime Emmy Award in 1978 and several more award nominations for playing the character. Following Rhoda, Kavner was cast in The Tracey Ullman Show, which debuted in 1987. The Tracey Ullman Show included a series of animated shorts about a dysfunctional family. Voices were needed for the shorts, so the producers decided to ask Kavner to voice Marge. The shorts would eventually be spun off into The Simpsons.

Are you looking for Rhoda Morgenstern's pudgy, insecure younger sister, Brenda perchance?
If you are Jewish, you are bound to have a cousin, "Brenda..." (Front row, right.) I know I do...
PS: Our garden club raised money to replenish our, "Food Pantry" (food Bank) because most of our donations were sent to the hardest hit areas of NY/NJ from the storm, Sandy. Coming so close to Thanksgiving, the pantry has not had time to recover for holiday giving. All the service organizations around this area are in the same boat, and scrambling for food. Guess it's something we don't think about because the focus is on the unfortunate people who lost everything from the storm. Most of the need around here is the elderly, especially the ones who live alone. Our taxes rise, as does the over all cost of living, but pensions never keep pace. Not to anyone's surprise, it's the seniors who do the volunteering as well - and this year looks like many of our town's poorer, elderly residents will have their food gift, which could be their last... (It's does take a village at times...)

Another dog day at the vet!! She'll be okay, hopefully not needing surgery on her hips!!! Anyways, Julie Kavner played Brenda Morgenstern in Rhoda in 1974. She received a Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Primetime Emmy Award in 1978 and several more award nominations for playing the character. As Marge Simpson Julie pulls in 400,000 an episode!!

Brenda. Yes, I remember her well. We used to date. Rhoda never cared for me though and turned Brenda against me. She broke up with me shortly after I gave her that cute shirt.

Stephen Colbert is taking his place among the presidents at the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Washington and will be featured in a new media gallery.
Colbert visited the museum Friday to unveil a wax figure created to represent him. The museum says Colbert donated his own clothes to dress the figure in a suit, tie, cuff links and lapel pin. Colbert wore an identical outfit.
The new figure will be the centerpiece of a new media gallery with a replica of "The Colbert Report" set where guests can sit next to Colbert's figure behind his fake news desk.
Designers from Madame Tussauds went to Colbert's New York studio in June to take more than 250 measurements and photographs of the Comedy Central star to create the wax figure.
Sarah Jessica Parker and Gerard Butler are adding to the star wattage at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.
The actors will be the hosts of the 19th annual event, to be held Dec. 11 in Oslo, Norway. Jennifer Hudson and Seal are among the performers.
The European Union captured the prize this year.
Parker says she is honored to "promote the power of peace around the world. Butler said the European Union has shown "the world what is possible when forces unite in peace" and called the concert a "remarkable celebration of humanity."

Jason Mraz will make history next month when he performs in Myanmar Burma to raise awareness about human trafficking.
Mraz will headline a free outdoor concert on Dec. 16 at People's Square in Yangon, at the base of Shwedagon Pagoda.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is the first international artist to perform an open-air concert in the country since the end of military rule last year. And he is believed to be just the second Western act to perform in the country in decades, joining Ozomatli's U.S. State Department-sponsored appearance in 2009.
The show includes local acts and is hosted by MTV EXIT, the music channel's initiative to raise awareness about human trafficking and exploitation. It will be broadcast on Myanmar Burma national television and will air on MTV's international network in 2013. Mraz hosted a similar concert in the Philippines last year. He first became interested in the issue about four years ago when he attended the Freedom Awards, an annual salute to those working against human exploitation put on by the organization Free the Slaves.
Jay Penske, the new owner of Variety, laid off nearly a quarter of the company's staff on Thursday.
Between 20 and 25 employees from the struggling Hollywood trade's circulation, database and conference departments were laid off. The editorial staff was not affected. Variety had about 120 employees before Thursday's cuts.
Penske bought the paper last month at the fire-sale price of $25 million. In his memo, Penske said that he planned to invest in the editorial and digital departments while trimming the database services and business branch.
The jobs eliminated came from the LA411 and NY411 units - directories for production resources - and its administration and conference units, according to the memo. Deadline said that the cuts totaled 20 to 25 employees.
He also cut circulation staff, in what may presage a move to cut back on the paper's printing schedule. Variety currently prints daily during the week and a weekly edition on Friday.
ABC's freshman submarine drama "Last Resort" has been sunk, and the network has shuttered "666 Park Avenue" while it's at it.
The network has declined to pick up its freshman drama "Last Resort," which starred Ande Braugher as a submarine commander whose crew is declared rogue enemies after he ignores a suspicious order.
Likewise, freshman drama "666 Park Avenue," which starred Terry O'Quinn and Vanessa Williams, will also not go forward. That drama centered around a young couple who manage a New York City apartment building that's plagued by supernatural occurrences.
Though the network says it will air the remaining episodes of both series, they have not been picked up for additional episodes.

CBS's freshman comedy "Partners" has been canceled, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap on Friday.
"Partners," which starred Michael Urie and David Krumholtz, and centered around the "bromance" between two co-workers, one gay and one straight, premiered September 24 and occupied the Monday at 8:30 slot.
Its most recent episode scored a 1.8 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic - down 14 percent from the previous week, and its poorest showing to date. While the show had strong network support, it proved to be the weak link in CBS's Monday night comedy lineup, the rest of which - "2 Broke Girls," "How Met Your Mother" and "Mike & Molly" - has been on an upward trajectory.
A "Two and a Half Men" repeat will air in the show's former timeslot next week.
Russian President Vladimir Putin provoked angry criticism from bloggers and activists on Friday when he suggested to German Chancellor Angela Merkel that one of the jailed women from the Pussy Riot punk band was anti-Semitic.
Putin made his comments after Merkel made clear she saw the two-year sentences the women were serving for a raucous protest against him in a church as excessive.
"Does she know that before that, one of them had hung an effigy of a Jew and said Moscow needed to get rid of such people?" he told Merkel and other German and Russian delegates at a forum held as part of the Chancellor's visit to Moscow. "We cannot support people taking anti-Semitic positions."
The remarks prompted satire and criticism on social media, with some bloggers and backers of Pussy Riot suggesting he was deliberately twisting the truth to serve his argument.

A lawyer for Bobby Brown has entered not guilty pleas to drunken driving and other charges faced by the R&B singer after his arrest last month in Los Angeles.
City attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan says the pleas were entered Friday. Brown's case is scheduled for its next hearing on Dec. 13.
Brown was arrested in October on suspicion of driving while under the influence. It was his second arrest for DUI this year in Los Angeles.
He also faces charges he was driving on a suspended license and did not have an ignition locking device on his car, as required from a previous case.
To the many people who crossed his path on a tropical island in Belize, it was apparent John McAfee's life had taken some bizarre turns in the past few years.
The anti-virus software guru, who started McAfee Associates in 1989, has been in hiding since police said they wanted to question him about the weekend murder of his neighbor, fellow American Gregory Faull, with whom McAfee had quarreled.
Despite his disappearance, McAfee, 67, has remained in contact with the media, providing a stream of colorful bulletins over his predicament, state of mind and his claim that Belize's authorities want to kill him.
Residents of the Caribbean island of Ambergris Caye and others who know him paint the picture of an eccentric, impulsive man who gave up a career as a successful entrepreneur in the United States for a life of semi-seclusion in the former pirate haven of Belize, surrounded by bodyguards and young women.
McAfee, a yoga fan who has lived on the island for about four years, often moves around with bodyguards, wearing pistols in his belt. Since going into hiding, he has compared his lot to that of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is battling extradition from Britain from inside the Ecuadorean Embassy.

Actors and the producer and director of an American play in Greece that depicted Jesus Christ and his apostles as gay have been charged with blasphemy, court officials said on Friday.
A production of "Corpus Christi" in Athens was canceled this month after weeks of almost daily protests outside the theatre by priests and right-wing groups, including deputies from the ultra-nationalist Golden Dawn party.
Charges of "insulting religion" and "malicious blasphemy" have been filed after Bishop Seraphim of Piraeus lodged a lawsuit against those involved in the play, the officials said.
The play's director told Reuters he was stunned that prosecutors had chosen to go after him rather than pursue tax evaders and others blamed for driving Greece to near-bankruptcy.
"What I see is that there are people who have robbed the country blind who are not in jail and the prosecutor turns against art," Albanian-born Laertis Vasiliou said.

The remains of a ship believed to have sank about 90 years ago has been uncovered by the near-hurricane force winds of Sandy.
The wreckage, believed to be a four-masted Canadian coal schooner named the Bessie White, has been fully exposed on New York's Fire Island.
"The ship's identity has not been confirmed," Paula Valentine, public affairs specialist at Fire Island National Seashore, told ABCNews.com. "But the old timers have told me that the remains are around where the Bessie White ran aground."
Bits of the ship's remains have peeped through the dunes many times over the decades after winter storms much smaller than Sandy, but until now no one knew the sand was hiding bus-size wreckage.
