Josh Marshall: The GOP Looks Stuck With Roy Moore (TPM)
The most likely upshot of all of this is that Moore becomes too radioactive for national Republicans to endorse him and possibly to get national money but still remains on the ticket and running for the office.
Matt Shuhan: "WH On Moore Report: 'That Hypothetical Would Be Disqualifying For Anyone'"(TPM)
White House aide Kellyanne Conway said Thursday that allegations against Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore made in the Washington Post "would be disqualifying for anyone in public office." "We need to listen to both sides, but at the same time, that hypothetical would be disqualifying for anyone in public office," Conway said, in a clip aired on MSNBC.

Augury is the practice from ancient Roman religion of interpreting omens from the observed flight of birds (aves). When the individual, known as the augur, interpreted these signs, it is referred to as "taking the auspices". 'Augur' and 'auspices' are from the Latin auspicium and auspex, literally "one who looks at birds." Depending upon the birds, the auspices from the gods could be favorable or unfavorable (auspicious or inauspicious).
This type of omen reading was already a millennium old in the time of Classical Greece: in the fourteenth-century BC diplomatic correspondence preserved in Egypt called the "Amarna correspondence", the practice was familiar to the king of Alasia in Cyprus who needed an 'eagle diviner' to be sent from Egypt.
According to unanimous testimony from ancient sources the use of auspices as a means to decipher the will of the gods was more ancient than Rome itself.

Sometimes bribed or politically motivated augures would fabricate unfavorable auspices in order to delay certain state functions, such as elections. Pliny the Elder attributes the invention of auspicy to Tiresias the seer of Thebes, the generic model of a seer in the Greco-Roman literary culture.
I tried to think of an amusing antidote to further describe Augury. I got nuthin, except this.

Disney on Thursday announced plans for a new "Star Wars" trilogy as it builds on whores the beloved and profitable science fiction film franchise.
"We have big ambitions for the 'Star Wars' franchise," Disney chief executive Robert Iger said during a quarterly earnings call.
Disney just closed a deal with Rian Johnson, director of upcoming film "The Last Jedi," to develop a brand new trilogy, according to Iger.
The Star Wars franchise has been "exceeding expectations" since Disney acquired LucasFilm five years ago, according to Iger.
Disney plans to launch "Star Wars" feature films in a new direct-to-consumer pay service that will offer "thousands of hours" of film and television content, he said.
The board game Clue. In the National Toy Hall of Fame. With the Wiffle Ball and paper airplane.
The mystery of which toys earned the status of toy superstardom was solved Thursday with the announcement of the hall of fame's Class of 2017.
The whodunit game Clue, where players also must name the crime scene and murder weapon, continues to sell millions of copies each year since being patented by a British couple during World War II. They based the game on the murder-mystery dinner parties popular around that time, according to a press release from The Strong museum in Rochester, New York, which houses the National Toy Hall of Fame.
The annual hall of fame inductees are chosen on the advice of historians and educators following a process that begins with nominations from the public.
This year's other finalists were: the game Risk, Magic 8 Ball, Matchbox cars, My Little Pony, PEZ candy dispenser, play food, sand, Transformers and the card game Uno.
Rupert Murdoch (R-Evil Incarnate) telephoned AT&T Inc Chief Executive Randall Stephenson twice in the last six months and talked about cable network CNN, sources briefed on the matter told Reuters on Friday.
According to one of the sources, the 86-year-old executive chairman of Twenty-First Century Fox Inc offered to buy CNN in both conversations.
Another source said Murdoch had "zero interest" in owning CNN.
Representatives of Twenty-First Century Fox, AT&T and Time Warner, CNN's parent, declined comment.
U.S. Department of Justice staff have recommended that AT&T sell either its DirecTV unit or Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting unit - which includes CNN - a government official told Reuters on Thursday, in order to gain antitrust approval.
Feeling down on "Singles Day" this weekend? A Chinese white liquor maker wants to lift lonely spirits by offering a lifetime supply of booze for less than $1,700.
Jiangxiaobai Liquor Company is making its offer Saturday during China's biggest shopping festival -- held every November 11, or 11/11 -- with an equally numerically symbolic price tag of 11,111 yuan ($1,675).
It is selling the lifetime supply of grain-based baijiu, a typical Chinese alcohol, on e-commerce giant Alibaba's business-to-customer Tmall platform.
The offer will be limited to 99 lucky customers, who will receive 12 boxes of the liquor, each month. Each box contains 12 bottles of 45-degree booze made from sorghum.
The endless batch can be inherited by a family member if the customer dies within five years of the purchase.
Sebastian Gorka, the endlessly controversial former aide to President Donald Trump, has been hired by Fox News.
Host Sean Hannity announced Wednesday that Gorka, who left his White House job in August under disputed circumstances, will serve as a national security strategist for Fox.
Gorka is known for espousing aggressively anti-Islamic views during his numerous TV appearances on behalf of the president both before and after the election. In August 2016, while also advising Trump's campaign, he told law enforcement officials at a FBI course that all Muslims are either already radicalized or soon to be radicalized, the Daily Beast reported. (The FBI subsequently terminated his gig as a lecturer.) And in August of this year, he was reportedly upset that Trump did not use the phrase "radical Islam" or "radical Islamic terrorism" in a speech about Afghanistan.
Yet for all his self-professed knowledge on the topic, Gorka has spent little time in the Middle East and does not speak Arabic.
Also troubling are Gorka's ties to Nazi sympathizers. In January, he wore a medal given to him by his father that signified his father's membership in Vitezi Rend, a Hungarian group that had collaborated with Nazis during World War II.
A radioactive cloud of pollution that spread across Europe in September and October likely originated in Russia, or possibly Kazakhstan, French nuclear authorities believe.
The potential nuclear accident that launched the cloud most likely took place between the Volga river and the Ural Mountains in the last week of September, IRSN said.
Germany's Federal Office for Radiation Protection said an accident at a nuclear power plant could be "ruled out" due to the type of particle detected.
It said: "Ruthenium-106 is used as a radiation source in cancer therapy for the treatment of ocular tumours. Ruthenium can also occur during the reprocessing of nuclear fuel elements."
The release of nuclear material was of a scale that, had it occurred in France, would have required the evacuation of or sheltering of people within "several kilometres" of the origin point, IRSN said.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Thursday agreed to hearan expedited argument in a case challenging the state's congressional map, setting the stage for a potential decision on the constitutionality of the map ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.
The League of Women Voters and nearly 20 Pennsylvania voters filed the lawsuit against the state in Commonwealth Court in June. They claim the state's Republican-drawn congressional map violates the state constitution's protections on freedom of expression and equal protection, because it deliberately dilutes the influence of Democratic voters in the political process. The Brennan Center for Justice has described the map as one of the most egregious examples of a political party drawing a map for its own benefit ? a process often called gerrymandering. In 2012, Republicans were able to win 13 of the state's 18 congressional seats, and were able to retain a similar share of seats in 2014 and 2016 even though the party's share of the statewide vote only went up by a few points.
The plaintiffs in the state want the court to block officials from using the plan in future elections and require the legislature to draw a new plan.
"We will leverage this expedited process to ensure the map is struck down and a new map that complies with the constitution is created in time for the 2018 election," Mimi McKenzie, legal director of the Public Interest Law Center, one of the groups representing the plaintiffs, said in a statement.
The case is one of two redistricting lawsuits challenging Pennsylvania's congressional map. The other suit is moving through federal court.
Some listeners to commercial radio station Mix Megapol in Sweden heard 30 minutes of an Islamic State propaganda song on Friday after hackers took over the station's frequency, the station's owners said.
Mix Megapol is one of Sweden's biggest radio stations with around 1.4 million listeners daily, although the problem affected only listeners in the southern Swedish city of Malmo.
"Somebody interfered with our frequency using a pirate transmitter," Jakob Gravestam, Marketing Director at Bauer Media Group, which owns Mix Megapol, said in a press release.
The song, with male voices singing in English, featured lyrics such as: "For the sake of Allah we will march to gates of the paradise where our maidens await. We are men who love death just as you love your life, we are soldiers who fight in the day and the night."
The hosts of popular morning show 'Anders & Gry with Friends' did not notice the problem until listeners called in and asked what was going on.
