The Prolific Judd Apatow Doesn't Seem so 'Sick in the Head' (PopMatters)
Perfectly bite-sized, the interviews can be read one at a time, on a bus ride or before bed or while sitting on the toilet.
Some go on long, like Spike Jonze's 23-page interview, while others flash by like Sarah Silverman's eight pager. No matter what the focus of the interviews in question, together they serve primarily to paint a portrait of Apatow himself.
Tasha Robinson: 'The Shepherd's Crown' Tells Terry Pratchett Fans How To Mourn Him (NPR)
… with his final book, he gives his fans an idea of how he approached his passing, and how he expects them to deal with it. Granny Weatherwax anticipates her end, and prepares calmly: She makes her own casket, selects her burial spot, cleans house and leaves instructions for her heir. And above all, she meets Death - another longtime Discworld character, drawn as a wryly genial presence - as a respected compatriot.
Laura Bradley: Netflix Knows the Exact Moment You Got Hooked on Your Favorite TV Show (Slate)
Netflix knows a lot about us-how late we're willing to stay up to finish a movie, and how many hours we're capable of sitting motionlessly entranced by a TV show, for instance. But now the company has crunched the numbers to figure out the exact episode of our favorite shows that hooked us: Netflix analyzed data for 25 shows, and found the episode within each series after which 70 percent of people continued watching for the rest of its first season.
Mahogany is a kind of wood-the straight-grained, reddish-brown timber of threetropical hardwood species of the genus Swietenia, indigenous to the Americas, part of the pantropical chinaberry family, Meliaceae.
Mahogany is a commercially important lumber prized for its beauty, durability, and color, and used for paneling and to make furniture, boats, musical instruments and other items. The leading importer of mahogany is the United States, followed by Britain; while the largest exporter today is Peru, which surpassed Brazil after that country banned mahogany exports in 2001. It is estimated that some 80 or 90 percent of Peruvian mahogany exported to the United States is illegally harvested, with the economic cost of illegal logging in Peru placed conservatively at $US40-70 million annually. It was estimated that in 2000, some 57,000 mahogany trees were harvested to supply the U.S. furniture trade alone.

After multiple media outlets fact-checked Carly Fiorina's comments on a Planned Parenthood "sting" video after the second Republican debate, her super-PAC has released a video using questionable editing to "prove" her point.
Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina (R-Coño) was almost universally thought by pundits to have won last week's Republican debate and has since catapulted herself to second place in the polls of Republican candidates, right behind Donald Trump.
One of the most dramatic parts of Fiorina's compelling debate performance was her authoritative stance for the defunding of Planned Parenthood, a measure approved by the House last week, which was blocked by the Senate on Thursday.
Almost immediately, many journalists, including those at Yahoo Health, called attention to the fact that the video Fiorina described during her debate performance does not exist.
The video was made to prove Fiorina correct in the debate, but in reality, it resorts to the same methods as the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), the antiabortion activist group that used deceptive editing to create its now-discredited videos attacking Planned Parenthood.

Radio shock jock Bubba The Love Sponge Clem is being investigated by Nielsen and the owner of a chain of radio stations for allegations that he tampered with ratings, the companies said Friday.
Both Nielsen and Beasley Media confirmed the investigation in separate statements. Beasley Broadcast Group, which owns 53 radio stations in 12 markets and is based in Naples, Florida, wouldn't say whether Clem would remain on the air.
The Tampa Bay-area host was not on his popular morning show Friday. He told WTVT-TV that he was unaware of the allegations and was off the air because he hurt himself in a fall. He could not be reached by The Associated Press.
In 2013, a rival radio host, Todd "MJ" Schnitt sued Clem. Clem's three lawyers were later found to have orchestrated the DUI arrest of Scnhitt's attorney, and a judge recommended their disbarment.
Clem was also a longtime friend of wrestler Hulk Hogan. Hogan, a former WWE wrestler whose real name is Terry Bollea, is suing the news website Gawker for posting a video of him having sex with Clem's then-wife.
The South Florida home owned by former teen idol David Cassidy has sold for just over $2 million.
Fisher Auction Co. spokesman Ryan Julison said a bankruptcy court approved the sale Friday. The sale of the 7,000-square-foot waterfront home should close within 30 days. The auction house wasn't releasing details about the buyer.
The 65-year-old Cassidy filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case earlier this year. He bought the Fort Lauderdale home in 2001 for $1.1 million. The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house was appraised at $1.9 million.
Cassidy's lawyer Susan Lasky previously said they were hoping to get more for the home to pay off creditors.

The Dalai Lama on Friday canceled his engagements in the US next month after doctors advised him to rest, a decision sure to heighten concerns among the 80-year-old Tibetan leader's supporters.
The exiled Buddhist leader visited doctors in the United States who "advised His Holiness to rest for the next several weeks," a statement from his office said.
"As a result, His Holiness' planned October US visit has been canceled," the statement said, apologizing to all involved in organizing the trip.
The Dalai Lama had scheduled several stops, including Philadelphia, where he was to receive the Liberty Medal in recognition of his advocacy of human rights.
Two AFP journalists were assaulted Friday by Israeli soldiers who destroyed and seized their equipment in the occupied West Bank after the funeral of a Palestinian killed by the army.
A video journalist with the agency, Italian Andrea Bernardi, was thrown to the ground and jabbed in the side with a weapon.
He was held on the ground by a soldier, one knee compressing his chest, until he managed to show his press card.
They smashed a video camera and a stills camera and took away another camera and a mobile phone.
At the time both journalists were wearing body armour clearly marked "Press".
She proclaimed her new name on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine, but Caitlyn Jenner's transition from her old identity as Bruce Jenner is finally official.
A judge on Friday approved Jenner's request to formally change her name and gender, marking another milestone in the Olympic gold medalist's public transition as a transgender woman.
Jenner, 65, sought the change "to better match my identity," according to court filings she submitted earlier this month.
The approval means Jenner's new name will be Caitlyn Marie Jenner, replacing her birth name of William Bruce Jenner. She will now be able to get documents - including a driver's license and Social Security card - that conform to her new identity.
Walrus carcasses were found last week on a northwest Alaska beach, but the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the deaths appear to be natural.
The animals were discovered near Point Lay at the same location where 35,000 walrus were spotted on shore Sept. 2.
An employee of the U.S. Geological Survey provided a photo of the walrus carcasses to Fish and Wildlife, the service said in Thursday release.
The service said it is analyzing the photos to determine if the carcasses are new or old and trying to determine an age range of the walruses. An investigator will then have to confirm onsite.
The service said foul play is not suspected, and the carcasses were intact. It did not provide a number of dead walruses.
A new exhibition on the story of the Celts opens at the British Museum on Thursday, tracing the shifting use of the term through artworks covering 2,500 years of history from Scotland to Spain.
"Celts: art and identity" examines the origin and usage of the term, which was first coined by the ancient Greeks to refer to barbarians from the north, and later used for the Celtic revival of the last 300 years in the British Isles.
Using jewellery, swords, carved stone crosses and massive armlets weighing more than a kilogramme (2.2 pounds), the London museum shows how Celts have often been set apart from their neighbours.
In around 500 BC, the Greeks called their northern barbarian neighbours "Keltoi".
It was a blanket term describing diverse tribes beyond the frontier rather than a specific people.
