The Pony Express, a mail service delivering messages, newspapers, and mail, was the West's most direct means of east-west communication before the transcontinental telegraph was established. How long was the Pony Express in operation?
This line is spoken by Norman Bates, played by Anthony Perkins, in the film Pyscho, directed by Alfred Hitchcock (1960).
In Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 masterpiece of terror, Psycho, a woman named Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) with $40,000 in stolen cash (which is over 300,000 smackeroos today) stops running from the law for a night at a quaint little motel. The Bates Motel.
She sits down for a bite to eat with the gentle innkeeper, Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). He's a good boy, managing the motel for his mother. Sure, mother seems bit overbearing (Marion heard her screaming earlier), but Norman loves her. When Marion asks Norman if he ever goes out with friends, he says, "A boy's best friend is his mother."
Isn't that sweetest?
Not exactly. This isn't a phrase that belongs on any Mother's Day cards.
Also, if anyone seems a little too close to a female parental unit for comfort, you might have heard someone utter this phrase.

Psycho
This brilliant film was truly groundbreaking and shocking - especially for it's time. It is STILL one of the best movies ever made...

Cutting the cord can be difficult, but sometimes, you just have to let
go before it becomes a health code violation. The line sums up how
Norman Bates felt about the mother he just couldn't let go of in Psycho.

My guess is "Psycho," and Google says that's correct. I was young when the movie came out and my horror movie hating Mom made sure we never saw it on TV either. To this day I'm not sure that I ever sat through the whole movie. Another work of genius from Alfred Hitchcock, who unjustly never won an Oscar for Best Picture over many clearly inferior films that are forgotten today. Hitch got little love from the Academy (perhaps because inside the industry he was known as something of a Cad), most of his hit films weren't even nominated, including Psycho, Notorious, and North By Northwest.

Welcome back, Marty! You were missed!
I have actually never seen "Psycho" all the way through. I think the first time I slept through it was in 1967. Come to think of it, never have I ever watched one of Hitchcock's films. But just from knowing how things ended at the Bates Motel, I'm pretty doggone sure it was Norman Bates who said, "A boy's best friend is his mother."

That movie is "Psycho." Cue scary music.
Welcome back, Marty. I hope things went well (or as well as could have been expected) for you.

Psycho? Yes...Psycho.
Sheesh- be careful goggling that one...

Oddly enough, I was just watching a documentary last night,
"Hitchcock/Truffaut"(2015), about Truffaut's 1962 interviews with Hitchcock
about cinema. They spent quite a bit of time discussing the movie that is
the answer to your question: "Psycho". I highly recommend both "Psycho" and
the documentary.

Peace&Harmony,
So far so good on beating cancer for now. I'm doing fine. At the end of the month I'll be 16 months into an 8 month mean lifespan. And yesterday I went on a 7 mile hike and managed to keep up with the hiking group I was with. So, doing something right.
Still waiting for future test results and should see things headed in the right direction. I can say that it's not likely that anything dire happens in the short term so that means that I should have time to make several more attempts at this. So even if it doesn't work the first time there are a lot of variations to try. So if there's bad news it will help me pick the next radiation target.
I have written a "how to" guide for oncologists to perform the treatment that I got. I'm convinced that I'm definitely onto something and whether it works for me or not isn't the definitive test. I know if other people tried this that it would work for some of them, and if they improve it that it will work for a lot of them.
The guide is quite detailed and any doctor reading this can understand the procedure at every level. I also go into detail as to how it works, how I figured it out, and variations and improvements that could be tried to enhance it. I also introduce new ways to look at the problem. There is a lot of room for improvement and I think that doctors reading it will see what I'm talking about and want to build on it. And it's written so that if you're not a doctor you can still follow it. It also has a personal story revealing that I'm the class clown of cancer support group. I give great interviews and I look pretty hot in a lab coat.
So, feel free to read this and see what I'm talking about. But if any of you want to help then pass this around to both doctors and cancer patients. I need some media coverage. I'm looking for as many eyeballs as possible to read these ideas. Even if this isn't the solution, it's definitely on the right track. After all, I did hike 7 miles yesterday. And this hiking group wasn't moving slow. So if this isn't working then, why am I still here?
I also see curing cancer as more of an engineering problem that a medical problem. So if you are good at solving problems and most of what you know about medicine was watching the Dr. House MD TV show, then you're at the level I was at when I started. So anyone can jump in and be part of the solution.
