Presidential News Conference on Iran Nuclear Deal (C-SPAN)
(One Hour, Eight Minutes) President Obama held a news conference on the Iran nuclear agreement. The deal limits the country's nuclear ability for more than a decade in return for the lifting of international sanctions and an eventual lifting of the arms embargo.?The president talked about why the deal is in the national security interest of the United States and addressed some of the criticisms of the agreement, such as why the release of U.S. hostages being held in Iran was not part of the deal.?

The byte is a unit of digital information that most commonly consists of eight bits. Reminds me of the little loops we used to make in Computer 101, many moons ago.
Fucking Family Reunion this weekend at my daughter's house in Pollock and then up to Union Valley. The Matriarch (Ma Small) and I won't make the latter trip to the Reservoir, but the rest of them will.

8 bits per byte ~ A BYTE is really not complicated at all. It is simply a group of eight BITS. When eight BITS are structured into a BYTE, then each of those BITS has special significance. A BIT is the smallest piece of information that a computer can deal with.

My name is Marc Perkel and I have decided to announce that I will not comply with the so called "Patriot Act" laws requiring me to disclose information about my customers. If I receive a national security letter I will immediately photograph it, post it online everywhere I can, and then make a video of me burning it. I will then await my arrest. A fast-moving wildfire swept across a freeway Friday in a Southern California mountain pass, torching at least a half-dozen cars and a tractor trailer as motorists abandoned their vehicles and ran to safety. There were no confirmed injuries, authorities said.
The fire swept by desert winds burned on both sides of Interstate 15, the main connector between Southern California and Las Vegas that was crowded with vehicles.
Dozens of vehicles were abandoned and hundreds of others turned onto side roads to get away from the flames as water-dropping helicopters flew overhead.
U.S. Forest Service spokesman Uriah Hernandez said no injuries had been confirmed. Some areas were evacuated in the Cajon Pass area along the freeway, about 55 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

A powerful pro-Israel lobby is backing a new political group that on Friday launched a multimillion-dollar campaign to oppose the nuclear pact the United States recently made with Iran.
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee is supporting an independent action committee called Citizens for a Nuclear Free Iran, dedicated to preventing Iran from obtaining the capacity to obtain nuclear weapons.
Spokesman Patrick Dorton said Friday that the group is launching a national TV and digital ad campaign in many media markets around the country.
The group's website lists an advisory board of five former Democratic and independent lawmakers - one-time Sens. Evan Bayh of Indiana, Mark Begich of Alaska, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana and Joe Lieberman of Connecticut along with former Rep. Shelley Berkley of Nevada.
A man who has spent 24 years scanning Scotland's Loch Ness for its legendary mysterious monster reckons Nessie is most likely a giant catfish -- although he is not prepared to give up looking just yet.
Steve Feltham, who holds a Guinness World Record for the longest continuous Nessie vigil, says it is the most probable explanation for the enigmatic beast that has captivated people's imaginations the world over.
"The current frontrunner is the Wels catfish. It's the most likely explanation," the 52-year-old told AFP.
"I'm not saying it's the final explanation. It ticks most of the boxes with sightings -- but it doesn't tick them all."
Media reports this week suggested Feltham had given up his vigil after favouring the catfish theory, but he insisted he would keep searching for the definitive conclusion.

A campaign to require condom use in pornographic film productions in California has collected enough signatures to put a ballot measure before state voters in 2016, organizers said.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation said in a statement late on Thursday it had amassed more than 371,000 signatures, above the 366,880 threshold set by the state.
The signatures must still be validated by California election officials.
Historically, Los Angeles, especially its San Fernando Valley suburb, has been a hub of porn production. A number of high-profile X-rated performers in the area have suffered HIV infections, shaking the industry and local health officials.
In the past, porn producers have said viewers do not want to see condoms in porn because it distracts from their fantasies. They also warned that porn creators will be more likely to move productions out of state to avoid such rules.
A judge refused to lower bail Friday for former rap music mogul Marion "Suge" Knight after determining his lawyers had not presented any new circumstances that would warrant reducing it from $10 million.
Superior Court Judge Ronald Coen made the ruling after reviewing a video of the incident that defense attorneys had described as a new, unedited, version of Knight running over two men with his pickup truck outside a Compton burger stand in January.
"There's nothing new in the video," Coen said. Grainy surveillance footage from the burger stand was played in court in April, and Knight's attorneys submitted a longer version of the video this week.
Defense attorney Thomas Mesereau also argued that prosecutors had presented an unfair picture of his client's criminal history and told Coen that the Death Row Records co-founder wasn't a gang member.

Boeing, one of the world's two largest aircraft makers, warned its passenger airline customers on Friday that flying bulk shipments of lithium-ion batteries can cause fires capable of destroying the planes.
The guidance sent to airlines around the globe urged that they not carry the batteries as cargo "until safer methods of packaging and transport are established and implemented," Boeing spokesman Doug Alder told The Associated Press in an email.
The rechargeable batteries are used in cellphones, laptop computers, power tools and many other electronic devices. They are also often shipped as cargo on international airline flights.
FAA tests over the past year show that when the batteries short-circuit they emit hydrogen and other gases that can build up. When the gases ignite, they cause fierce explosions and unleash fires that are very difficult to put out. The halon fire suppression systems in the cargo compartments of airliners have been shown to be ineffective against battery fires. The systems have been able to put out the initial flames from overheated batteries, but are unable to stop the batteries from continuing to overheat and reigniting.
It's common for tens of thousands of batteries to be packed into a single shipping container. The global battery industry has been lobbying heavily against significant restrictions on battery shipments other than minor changes to current regulations. Many electronics manufacturers also prefer to receive batteries quickly by air, rather than more slowly by ship, so that they can avoid having to keep large supplies on hand.

Women jailed in a Kigali prison for murdering their Tutsi neighbors in Rwanda's 1994 genocide talk about the killings as if they are still trying to justify why they took part in one of the most notorious mass killings of modern history.
Clad in pink and orange prison dresses, female perpetrators recall the past in "Shades of True", a documentary about eight women who took part in the genocide.
"We had to kill the enemy," says one of the women inmates, while another describes how some Tutsi women were sliced open and had their intestines removed by killers "looking for where the foundation of their beauty lay."
About 2,000 women convicted of genocide-related offences remain in Rwandan prisons.
"Our children should not forgive us," one of them says.

Vatican departments had more than a billion euros that were not declared on an overall balance sheet before new accounting standards kicked in last year, a financial statement showed on Thursday.
The man appointed to clean up Vatican finances said last December that departments had "tucked away" million of euros and followed "long-established patterns" in jealously managing their affairs without reporting to any central accounting office.
Thursday's statement showed that such funds totaled about 1.1 billion euros ($1.2 billion), the first time the Vatican has quantified the unreported funds discovered after Cardinal George Pell took up the newly created post of economy minister.
Pope Francis picked Pell, an outsider from the English-speaking world, to oversee the Vatican's often muddled finances after decades of control by Italians.

His agent, Larry Corsa, confirmed that Morris passed away in Los Angeles on Wednesday at the Barlow Respiratory Hospital, where he'd been under care for several weeks. He was 89.
In his over five-decade career, Morris, who brought a memorable touch of eccentricity to many of his parts, appeared in films including "The Wicker Man," Woody Allen's "Love and Death" and "Lisztomania."
But it was his portrayal of the sniveling probation office to Malcolm McDowell's Alex in Stanley Kubrick's 1971 classic "A Clockwork Orange" that will stand as his most beloved and famous role. As P.R. Deltoid, Morris blended the sinister with the campy and comedic in his scenes with Alex - especially when he unforgettably knocks Alex in the crotch after a wholly unconventional house call.
