Fun fact regarding yesterday's trivia question: I went to the same high school as Micky Dolenz (Ulysses S. Grant in the San Fernando Valley). He and I didn't attend at the same time since I am six years his junior, but I did see him in the bleachers at a homecoming game once. I was in the marching band and one of my bandmates looked up and spotted him while we were waiting on the sidelines to go onto the field for the halftime show. This was during the years that "The Monkees" was on TV, so of course we knew who he was.

Thanks to all the trivia I've consumed and regurgitated, I'm pretty sure that Archibald A. Leach is Cary Grant. I loved watching him in old movies at sleepovers in the late 60s, when his movies were in black and white (on my friends' tvs, anyway) with his accent and classic good looks.
I'm late because my husband and I have been searching for Schipperke puppies, and found a couple outside of Paso Robles. We're driving down Monday to bring one home. We thought we'd wait a while, but after our older dog's sudden death on Monday, we're all depressed, especially our #2, who we never trained to be alone. He looks for his brother all day, and cries when we're gone. We'd do likewise, if we didn't have to work. We haven't had a puppy in 10 years. Watch this space for my occasional kvetching about training a puppy….and our joy at not having a depressed dog (and humans) with our addition-to-be.

Three decades after it abandoned vinyl production, Sony says it will start making records again on the back of surging demand for the retro music format.
A factory southwest of Tokyo will be churning out freshly pressed records by March next year, Sony Music Entertainment said Thursday.
The Japanese giant stopped making vinyl records in 1989, a company spokesman said, as consumers flocked to compact discs and other emerging music technology.
Global vinyl revenue will top $1.0 billion this year while sales of CDs and digital downloads continue to fall, according to estimates from consulting firm Deloitte.
In Britain, where vinyl's rebirth has been particularly pronounced, records generated more revenue than advertising-backed tiers of streaming platforms last year.

One of the more controversial parts of Disneyland's "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride is the "Bride Auction," a scene depicting women lined up for auction that will no longer be a part of the ride after next year, Disney Parks announced on its blog this week.
When the ride closes for routine maintenance in 2018, the scene will be altered to depict villagers lined up to give up their valuables, and the "Auction, Take a wench for a bride" sign will be redone to read "Auction, surrender yer loot." Walt Disney World's version of the ride will also be subject to the same modifications.
A tall, red-haired woman currently present in the ride as a prize will remain but be recast as a pirate herself, holding a rifle and wearing a feathered hat as she oversees the surrendering of booty. Presumably, the "We wants the redhead" voiceover will also be removed.
The much beloved ride has been subject to alterations before to give new contexts: years ago, a scene depicting pirates chasing women was altered to show the women carrying food trays so the men would appear to be chasing after the food rather than the women. Another scene showing a pirate chasing a woman was reversed to show the woman shooing the pirate out of her home.
James Cromwell has been sentenced to jail following his arrest during a power plant protest in New York back in 2015, according to the Times-Herald Record. The Emmy-winning actor will face seven days behind bars after refusing to pay fines levied against him after his initial arrest.
A Wawayanda, N.Y., court decided on Thursday that New York resident Cromwell and two other environmental activists will spend a week in jail in July. Cromwell will serve his time in Orange County Jail.
Pramilla Malick, Madeline Shaw, and three other protesters were arrested alongside the 77-year-old in December 2015 when they staged a sit-in at a Competitive Power Ventures natural gas site. All six were charged with obstruction of traffic, a violation.
"If we don't stay together, nothing will change," Cromwell told the Times-Herald Record after refusing to pay his fine on Thursday. "Power to the people."
Cromwell's credits include "Babe," "The Green Mile," "L.A. Confidential," and "American Horror Story: Asylum," to name a few.

More than 40 percent of White House staffers earn in excess of $100,000 a year, according to new salary details released Friday. And some of the wealthiest aides to Donald Trump aren't paid at all.
A White House staff salary document shows that 22 of Trump's aides, including some of the best-known to the public, are earning $179,700.
They include chief strategist Steve Bannon, chief of staff Reince Priebus, press secretary Sean Spicer and senior counselor Kellyanne Conway.
Also making $179,000: Omarosa Manigault, the former "Apprentice" contestant who serves as director of communications for White House office of public liaison; and social media director Dan Scavino.
Several of the president's closest aides are choosing not to take a salary. Among those forgoing pay are Trump's daughter Ivanka, identified in the official document as "first daughter and adviser to the president," and son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner.
If the United States fails to take decisive measures to combat climate change, it will become a poorer country facing more dramatic inequality, according to a study published Thursday.
The poorest third of US counties could see income drops as great as 20 percent if current trends continue, according to the worst-case projection of the study, published in the journal Science.
An interdisciplinary team of climatologists and economists based its findings on economic models and 116 projections of the impact of climate change.
The study comes just weeks after Donald Trump (R-Crooked) announced that the United States would withdraw from the Paris accord aimed at combating climate change.
The new study, however, predicts large-scale economic losses and potentially the greatest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in American history, according to Solomon Hsiang, professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley, the study's principal author.

Flush with cash, political groups outside the White House are aggressively coming to Donald Trump's (Corrupt) aid as he battles low public approval numbers, questions about his election campaign's ties to Russia and a stalled legislative agenda.
Through television attack ads and online campaigns normally seen only during the tumult of an election, the groups are helping Trump to strike back against his perceived enemies and boost his agenda, adding to the firepower of his Twitter account and the bully pulpit of the White House.
On Tuesday, one of the groups, America First Policies, launched an attack ad against a senator from Trump's own Republican Party who had balked at a Senate plan to overhaul healthcare that would leave millions more Americans uninsured. The attack angered Senate leader Mitch McConnell, who is struggling to rustle up the votes for the plan.
It is the first time that a U.S. president has had Super PACs - political action committees that can raise unlimited amounts of money and typically operate during elections - or political non-profits, which do not have to disclose their donors or where they spend their money, actively working to support him after the dust of campaigning has cleared.
With Trump's approval ratings sagging and his agenda now overshadowed by a federal investigation into his 2016 campaign's ties to Russia, the groups are pouring resources into protecting Trump's image, demonizing his opponents and amplifying his message that he is the victim of a witch-hunt.
The Trump administration plans to arrest parents and other relatives who authorities believe smuggled their children into the United States, a move immigrant advocates said would send a wave of fear through vulnerable communities.
A new "surge initiative" aims to dismantle human smuggling operations, including identifying and arresting the adult sponsors of unaccompanied minors who paid coyotes or other smugglers to bring the children across the U.S. border, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials confirmed Thursday.
That marks a sharp departure from policies in place under President Barack Obama's administration, during which time tens of thousands of young people fleeing gang and drug violence in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador crossed the border and were placed with sponsors in communities nationwide. Sponsors - typically parents, close relatives or family friends - have been expected to care for the minors while they go to school and seek legal status in immigration court.
"Arresting those who come forward to sponsor unaccompanied children during their immigration proceedings, often parents, is unimaginably cruel," said Wendy Young, president of Kids in Need of Defense, a nonprofit that has matched thousands of unaccompanied minors with pro bono attorneys in the last eight years. "Without caregivers to come forward, many of these children will languish in costly detention centers or be placed in foster care at great expense to states."

Two major studies into how bees are affected by a group of pesticides banned in Europe gave mixed results on Thursday, fuelling a row over whether the chemicals, called neonicotinoids, are safe.
The studies, one conducted across three European countries and another in Canada, found some negative effects after exposure to neonicotinoids in wild and honeybee populations, but also some positives, depending on the environmental context.
Scientists who conducted the European research - in Britain, Hungary and Germany - told reporters their overall findings suggested neonicotinoids are harmful to honeybee and wild bee populations and are "a cause for concern".
But scientists representing companies who funded the work - Germany's Bayer and Switerland's Syngenta - said the results showed "no consistent effect".
