Here is a woman who doesn't bother to try to beat men at their own game -- she simply makes up her own game. And it changes every time. Indeed, only six weeks after America Speaking Out was introduced as "an unprecedented initiative to listen to the American people," ASO did not rush out to hold a policy-crafting get together in an open town hall forum in Fargo or Fresno - but in the snug privacy of Rep. His e-mailed solicitation went to just 20 top lobbyists representing big corporations and such business front groups as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Manufacturers.

The goal of attaining a healthy weight seems to become harder the older we get. We don't have to be convinced that even small weight losses can provide significant health benefits. So, the question is how can we be successful?

The 'Mad Mel' Edition...
Mel Gibson has been called a religiously insane, anti-Semitic, misogynistic, racist by a great many people. His actions and words certainly point to that as being the case. However, he has made movies that have been very popular and, in some instances, awarded and/or critically acclaimed...
So...
What is your view of Gibson as an actor and are there any of his movies that you have enjoyed?

US National Gallery Retrospective
Edvard Munch
From "The Scream" to "The Kiss" and a series of Madonnas, the National Gallery of Art opened an exhibit Saturday exploring the haunting imagery and motifs of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch.
Munch, who wrote that sickness, madness and death were angels that haunted him, delivers no shortage of darkness in this set of almost 60 lithographs on view at the premier US gallery, entitled Master Prints.
Among the master works, a series of eight Madonnas dated from 1895-1914.
The most famous is a Madonna depicted as a nude; in 1892 when it was sent to a show in Berlin it so shocked the public that the show was shut down.

Accident News
Dennis Rodman
Former NBA star Dennis Rodman walked away unhurt after riding in an SUV that flipped over on an interstate in South Florida.
Sgt. Mark Wysocky of the Florida Highway Patrol said Rodman and another passenger weren't injured in the single-vehicle crash on Saturday on Interstate 95 near Fort Lauderdale. The driver was taken to a hospital.
Wysocky said the Land Rover flipped over after having a tire problem. No charges are expected.
Rodman's agent, Darren Prince, said he spoke with his client on Sunday, and he confirmed that he was unhurt. Rodman had just returned to the U.S. from the Caribbean island of St. Tropez, where he had a disc-jockey gig.

Al Jarreau
A French cardiologist who's been treating Al Jarreau says the Grammy-award winning singer has been discharged from the hospital, more than a week after he was admitted.
The 70-year-old American singer was placed in intensive care on July 23 after suffering breathing problems in the Alps and was later moved by helicopter to La Timone hospital in Marseille. The incident forced Jarreau to cancel several dates on his European concert tour.
Jean-Louis Bonnet, chief of the cardiology unit at La Timone hospital, said Sunday that Jarreau wants to continue with his tour.

Zsa Zsa Gabor
Doctors plan to let Zsa Zsa Gabor return home Friday, about three weeks after the 93-year-old actress was hospitalized with a broken hip.
Gabor's publicist, John Blanchette, said Saturday that she would spend the rest of the week receiving physical therapy.
Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, told Blanchette that the actress was joking with nurses but that she appeared depressed. He hoped the return home would restore her spirit.
Blanchette says Gabor broke her hip July 17 after her wheel chair tipped over. The Hungarian-born actress' condition began to deteriorate after hip-replacement surgery days later.

Dutch Becomes 1st NATO Member To Quit
Afghanistan
The Netherlands became the first NATO country to end its combat mission in Afghanistan, drawing the curtain Sunday on a four-year operation that was deeply unpopular at home and even brought down a Dutch government.
The departure of the small force of nearly 1,900 Dutch troops is not expected to affect conditions on the ground. But it is politically significant because it comes at a time of rising casualties and growing doubts about the war in NATO capitals, even as allied troops are beginning what could be the decisive campaign of the war.
Canada has announced it will withdraw its 2,700 troops in 2011 and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski has promised to pull out his country's 2,600 soldiers the year after.
That is likely to put pressure on other European governments such as Germany and Britain to scale back their forces, adding to the burden shouldered by the United States, which expects to have 100,000 troops here by the end of next month.

UAE, Saudi To Block
BlackBerry
The UAE said Sunday it will block key features on BlackBerry smart phones, citing national security concerns because the devices operate beyond the government's ability to monitor their use. Officials in neighboring Saudi Arabia indicated it planned to follow suit.
The decision could prevent hundreds of thousands of users in the Mideast country from accessing e-mail and the Web on the handsets starting in October, putting the federation's reputation as a business-friendly commercial and tourism hub at risk.
BlackBerry data is encrypted and routed overseas, and the measure could be motivated in part by government fears that the messaging system might be exploited by terrorists or other criminals who cannot be monitored by the local authorities.
However, analysts and activists also see it as an attempt to more tightly control the flow of information in the conservative country, a U.S. ally that is home to the Gulf business capital Dubai and the oil-rich emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Up For Sale
Tuttle Farm
In 1632, John Tuttle arrived from England to a settlement near the Maine-New Hampshire border, using a small land grant from King Charles I to start a farm.
Eleven generations and 378 years later, his field-weary descendants - arthritic from picking fruits and vegetables and battered by competition from supermarkets and pick-it-yourself farms - are selling their spread, which is among the oldest continuously operated family farms in America.
"We've been here for 40 years, doing what we love to do," said Lucy Tuttle, 65, who runs the 134-acre farm with brother Will. "But we're not able to work to our full capacity any longer, unfortunately."
Tuttle added that she and her brother and their sister have done their best "to lovingly discourage" their children from becoming generation No. 12. "We would be saddling them with a considerable amount of debt," she said.

Swapped At Birth
Brazil
Two years back, Dimas Aliprandi and Elton Plaster didn't know of each other's existence. Then they learned they had been accidentally switched at birth more than 20 years ago.
The discovery didn't bring bitterness or recrimination. Rather, it led to the creation of a bigger family.
Today, the two 25-year-olds are living and working together with both sets of parents growing vegetables and coffee on a small farm in southeastern Brazil.
The chain of events started with Aliprandi, who was always intrigued that he did not resemble the four sisters he grew up with.
