Most acrid tasting slab of fast food there is, Burger King.
My way is at home, a burger at least 3/4" thick, and probably rarer than most people like. Definitely more so than I can get at BK, (so no, I can't get it close to my way.) And the King creeps me out.

Memory moment - Bruce's link (thanks!) about the 'Puffin Charmer' helping to reestablish and foster puffin colonies along the Maine coast mentions Matinicus Rock, 22 miles off the coast where puffins abide (not unlike 'The Dude'. Puffins are sorta wacky). I know that very well. I did my bit (for what my CG crewmen and I called the "Fuck-ing Puffins") by hauling all manner of quaintly odd puffin-people and their vast amount of dunnage (hence the name) out to 'The Rock' along with the lighthouse relief crew and their supplies. We did that run from Rockland every two weeks in good weather. The light is automated now. The puffin-people basically camped out near the light (they were allowed inside privileges, too) and did their puffin-people good works for two weeks and then returned to civilization with the next run... Now, the puffin-people were pretty mellow and many were not lubbers, which helps... and they do good things... and puffins are way cool... But, dealing with the puffin-people and their stuff was a pain in the ass, I'm tellin' ya. When a Coxswain was told he was making the run, his (my) response was always... "Fuck-ing Puffins"....

Less than three weeks after Superstorm Sandy came ashore on the East Coast, three television networks will offer the chance to relive the experience on the same night.
PBS' "Nova" series will air a one-hour special on Sandy on Sunday evening, the same night that History is scheduled to run "Superstorm 2012: Hell and High Water." The National Geographic network first airs its Sandy special on Thursday but will rerun it on Sunday night.
The National Geographic special is being made by Pioneer Productions, which has also made the extreme weather specials "Raging Planet" and "The Year the Earth Went Wild." Producers of "Superstorm 2012" promise to include home video, news footage and computer recreations to tell the storm's story and its effect on people.
History turned to a British production team to make its special, which was initially scheduled for an hour but cut back to 30 minutes. Scientists and meteorologists are interviewed to discuss how the storm formed, along with people who lived through it.

Darth Vader has taken up residence at the National Toy Hall of Fame.
The intergalactic action figure and other characters from the "Star Wars" movies, as well as the game of dominoes were chosen on Thursday to be included in the Toy Hall of Fame at The Strong, a children's and cultural history museum in western New York.
The winners muscled out 10 other nominees including the board game Clue and little green army men to take their place alongside Barbie, Mr. Potato Head and the teddy bear in the Toy Hall of Fame.
Dominoes, the other winner, emerged in China in the late 1200s and became the rage in Europe in the 18th century.
The Strong, a private museum, is the second-largest devoted to children in the United States. It bought the National Toy Hall of Fame from the A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village in Salem, Oregon in 2002.
A mutilated skeleton unearthed from a medieval church in Leicester is undergoing testing to determine if it belongs to Richard III, an unlucky king of England who died in battle in 1485.
Archaeologists unearthed the skeleton in the choir of Grefriars, a medieval church that had been buried under a parking lot. Though the church had been lost, historical records suggest that Richard III was buried there after his death at the Battle of Bosworth Field, during the War of the Roses, an English civil war.
If the body is Richard's, archaeologists hope the find will shed light on a person known best through William Shakespeare's fictionalized account in the play "Richard III."
The skeleton is a good candidate for the lost king. It was found in the choir area of the church, matching historical records of the burial. The skeleton appears to be an adult male, and has a wounded skull - as if someone had cleaved it with an axe or sword. That would be consistent with a death in battle. A barbed arrowhead was also found in the skeleton's spine.
The skeleton also shows signs of scoliosis, or an abnormally curved spine. This would have made the man's right shoulder pop up higher than his left, which matches contemporary accounts of Richard III. (In later accounts, he's often incorrectly portrayed as a hunchback.)

Someone dropped off an etching at a Goodwill store in Tacoma, Wash. But this wasn't your typical frowning-clown thrift store art. It was drawn by surrealist and mustache aficionado Salvador Dali.
Goodwill, eager to make the most of the find, put the piece of art up for auction. So far, the high bid is $7,505 with about four days left before the auction ends.
It's unclear if the donor knew the monetary value of the piece. Likely he or she did. It is clearly signed by Dali and comes with a certificate of authenticity from an art gallery. The colored etching was numbered 126/150. According to the Goodwill site, "The paper has some warping, as if from humidity. The upper right area of matting has some discolored speckling. The other damage is to the frame and glass-a few deep scratches and scuffs." That's right, kids-the frame is included.
According to Seattle's Fox affiliate Q13, a Goodwill employee recognized the piece of art as a "high-value" item. So, rather than sticking it on a shelf, to the online auction block it went.
Comedian Katt Williams has been arrested after a man told Oakland police that the entertainer hit him over the head with a bottle.
Authorities say the 41-year-old Williams was briefly taken into custody on suspicion of assault Wednesday night after the apparent victim said he was attacked aboard a tour bus that was parked outside a downtown hotel.
Williams was released after investigators questioned him and several witnesses. Calls to representatives for Williams were not immediately returned.

Drug charges against Jon Bon Jovi's 19-year-old daughter have been dropped, a central New York prosecutor said Thursday.
Stephanie Bongiovi was found unresponsive by medics after she apparently overdosed on heroin in a Hamilton College dorm early Wednesday. Town of Kirkland police charged Bongiovi, of Red Bank, N.J., and fellow student Ian Grant, also of Red Bank, with possession of a small amount of heroin and marijuana.
Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara said he was dismissing the charges against both students. Under state law, someone having a drug overdose or seeking help for an overdose victim can't be prosecuted for having a small amount of heroin or any amount of marijuana.
The so-called Good Samaritan 911 law signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in July 2011 was designed to reduce overdose deaths by encouraging people to call 911 without fear of being arrested for drug possession. Similar laws have been passed in several other states.
A New Mexico peanut company linked to a recent salmonella outbreak distributed peanut and almond butters after its own internal testing showed the products were contaminated, the Food and Drug Administration says.
Sunland Inc. is the nation's largest organic peanut butter processor, though it also produces many non-organic products. The company recalled hundreds of nuts and nut butters manufactured since 2010 after one of its products, Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Peanut Butter, was linked to 41 salmonella illnesses around the country in September.
FDA reports released this week show that repeated agency inspections found problems at the plant since 2007, though government officials didn't take any action or release the results of those inspections until after the illnesses were discovered this year. Sunland sold hundreds of different peanut products to many of the nation's largest grocery chains, including Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Safeway, Target and other large national retailers.
In a monthlong investigation in September and October, FDA inspectors found 28 different samples of salmonella in Sunland's plant. The agency also found improper handling of the products, unclean equipment and uncovered trailers of peanuts outside the facility that were exposed to rain and birds.
The FDA said that over the past three years, company's tests showed products were shipped even though portions of their lots, or daily production runs, tested positive for salmonella. The agency also found that the internal tests failed to find salmonella when it was present.

The unique bird and reptile species that make the Galapagos Islands a treasure for scientists and tourists must be preserved, Ecuadorean authorities say - and that means the rats must die, hundreds of millions of them.
A helicopter is to begin dropping nearly 22 tons of specially designed poison bait on an island Thursday, launching the second phase of a campaign to clear out by 2020 non-native rodents from the archipelago that helped inspire Charles Darwin's theory of evolution.
The invasive Norway and black rats, introduced by whalers and buccaneers beginning in the 17th century, feed on the eggs and hatchlings of the islands' native species, which include giant tortoises, lava lizards, snakes, hawks and iguanas. Rats also have depleted plants on which native species feed.
The goal is to kill off all nonnative rodents, beginning with the Galapagos' smaller islands, without endangering other wildlife. The islands where humans reside, Isabela and Santa Cruz, will come last.
