Eli Lake: Clinton's Former Prosecutor Endorses Her for President (Bloomberg)
Twenty years ago, Michael Chertoff was near the top of the Clintons' enemy list. He was the lead Republican counsel on the Senate Whitewater Committee, one of the first of many congressional investigations into Hillary Clinton. […] All of this, though, was before the Republican Party nominated Donald Trump as its presidential candidate. This has shaken the party of Reagan. Chertoff, a lifelong Republican, will now be voting for the Democrat in November.
Rachel P.: "4 Secretly Brilliant Details Of Art (You Mistook For Errors)" (Cracked)
Art can be many things - joyful, transcendental, incisive, political, personal, or Sonic The Hedgehog erotica. Those are all of them. Those are all of the things art can be. Well, we suppose it can also be weird and stupid. After all, history is fraught with inexplicable artistic trends which seem silly to modern-day people. But if you look into it, sometimes there's a very good explanation for …
Josie and the Pussycats (initially published as She's Josie and Josie) is a teen-humor comic book about a fictional rock band, created by Dan DeCarlo and published by Archie Comics. It was published from 1963 until 1982; since then, a number of one-shot issues have appeared without regularity. It was adapted into a Saturday morning cartoon by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1970 and a live-action motion picture by Universal Studios and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 2001. Two albums were recorded under the name Josie and the Pussycats: one as the soundtrack for the cartoon series, the other as the soundtrack for the movie.

It's Josie & The Pussycats. ( Not the Pussycat Dolls ) While I have virtually no familiarity with them, I do know of them. In a stunningly dumb move , the owners later did a series with them in outer space, rofl.So what happens to a stupid idea? It never dies, as you can see from the cartoon Partridge Family,& even to this day with the new season of the Regular Show on Cartoon network.Ya gotta wonder, lol.

Archaeologists in northern China have discovered what they've called "extraordinary cache" of cannabis in an ancient tomb, provoking new questions about the plant's medical and ritual uses.
The "ancient, well-preserved" plants are somewhere between 2,400 and 2,800 years old. The grave contained 13 "nearly whole" cannabis plants that appear to be locally grown. The plants were arranged carefully within the tomb to provide a burial shroud for the deceased man.
While this is a "unique" discovery, the archaeologists say while describing their find in Economic Botany, it speaks to the many uses of cannabis throughout the years. In 1938, Popular Mechanics declared that hemp, which like marijuana comes from a cannabis plant, to be a "billion dollar crop."
Poland's parliament on Thursday rejected an abortion ban after women staged massive nationwide protests in the devoutly Catholic nation, where the law is already among the most restrictive in Europe.
Right-wing and liberal parliamentarians in the 450-member lower house joined forces to reject the controversial bill by 352 votes to 58, with 18 abstentions.
The vote came after tens of thousands of black-clad women protested across Poland on Monday, as solidarity demonstrations sprang up in European capitals including Berlin, London and Paris.
Home to 38 million people, Poland sees less than 2,000 legal abortions a year, but women's groups estimate that another 100,000 to 150,000 procedures are performed illegally or abroad.
While the PiS once favoured introducing a near-total ban on abortion, the party is well aware that a strong majority of Poles support existing legislation, which allows terminations in certain cases.

The Roman Catholic Church in New York has created an arbitration system for child victims of sexually abusive priests, providing an opportunity for compensation to accusers who are shut out from filing civil lawsuits by statutes of limitations.
The Archdiocese of New York said on Thursday the program would be administered by Kenneth Feinberg, the influential Washington lawyer who has directed funds for victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and several mass shootings.
Feinberg and Camille Biros, a longtime associate who has worked with Feinberg on other compensation funds, will have "complete autonomy," the church said.
The archdiocese has agreed to abide by their decisions, no matter how much money Feinberg and Biros might award to victims. Former New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska and child psychiatry expert Jeanette Cueva will comprise an oversight committee.
The arbitration scheme, which was put into place by Timothy Cardinal Dolan, the archbishop of New York, represents a novel approach to compensating victims of predator priests, whose abuse of children has scandalized the church in dioceses across the United States.

A group of women activists who tried to break Israel's decade-long blockade of the Gaza Strip were being held Thursday pending deportation after the Israeli navy intercepted their boat.
Thirteen women, including Nobel Peace Prize winner Mairead Maguire, were detained on Wednesday evening after their sailboat was stopped around 35 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza.
The Israeli navy said it stopped them to prevent a "breach of the lawful maritime blockade" of the Palestinian enclave.
Dubbed "Women's Boat to Gaza", the boat was part of the wider Freedom Flotilla Coalition that consists of pro-Palestinian boats that regularly seek to go to Gaza to try to break the blockade.
Organisers said among the other women detained were New Zealand lawmaker Marama Davidson, Algerian MP Samira Douaifia, Swedish politician Jeannette Escanilla and Ann Wright, a former US Army colonel and State Department official who resigned over the 2003 Iraq war.
Handful Of Wealthy Donors Dominated Campaign Funding
Brexit
More than half the money donated to groups campaigning in Britain's EU membership referendum was given by 10 individuals or companies, according to research published on Friday, raising questions over the outsize influence of the wealthy on politics.
Anti-corruption campaign group Transparency International UK also said 95 percent of donations to the 'Leave' and 'Remain' campaigns in the run-up to the June 23 Brexit vote were made by only 100 donors.
Transparency International said public trust in politics was falling, with 76 percent of respondents to a poll run by the group saying wealthy individuals were using influence on government to benefit their own interests and 28 percent saying most or all members of parliament were involved in corruption.
It said the two largest donors in the Brexit vote were David Sainsbury, the former chairman of the supermarket Sainsbury's, who donated 4.2 million pounds ($5.32 million) to Remain between January and June, and stockbroker Peter Hargreaves, who gave 3.2 million to the Leave campaign.
The third-largest donor, a group called Better for the Country which donated 2.1 million pounds to Leave, had not declared the source of its income, Transparency International said.
The U.S. Southwest is almost guaranteed to suffer scorching, decades-long "megadroughts" if the world continues producing greenhouse gas emissions at its current pace, a new study warns.
Southwestern states could see the risks of megadroughts rise up to 99 percent by the end of this century as global warming drives up regional temperatures, a team of U.S. researchers said.
On the flip side, lowering global emissions and limiting future global warming would reduce the Southwest's risk of prolonged droughts, the researchers found in a paper published Wednesday in the journal Science Advances.
The paper builds on the team's earlier findings that rising carbon emissions could drastically increase the risk of decades-long droughts, which would further strain the region's already limited water supplies and spark substantially more forest fires, dust storms and tree diseases.
The 2015 NASA-backed study found that, by the second half of this century, the Southwest and Central Plains could see droughts that are drier and longer than those experienced in the region in the last 1,000 years.
