Re: Ozzy's Street Address
I'm going to L.A. next week on vacation and wondered if you might know Ozzy's
street address in Beverly Hills. I'd like to drive by and take a picture. Thanks.
Kenny B
Hi Kenny [or is it Ben? ; ) ] -
I don't have the Osbourne's address. When I first moved here, though, entire weekends were devoted to finding celebrity abodes.
You'll find enterprising souls selling maps to the stars homes, but, the last time I got suckered - er - bought one, the addresses were horribly out of date.
Was going to suggest taking the 'Graveline Tour', but their website is no longer to be found. Bummer.
If you'd like some fairly off-the-beaten-path suggestions of fairly interesting places to visit while in the area, let me know. Have spent the better part of 3 decades here, and I still love the place.

The weather is staying a few degrees under 'normal', and it's quite nice.
Re-visited CostCo & also stopped by the Farmer's Market. Grapes are coming into season, but apricots are a fond memory.
A pal made some pesto & sent some this way. Real pesto. Grows his own Genovese basil. I supply the pine nuts. Gonna be grinning with green-flecked teeth for a couple of days.
Going to haul out the dehydrator this weekend. Got it as a present, have yet to use it. Time to move it past 'dust-collector' status. (Think that's a good thing - LOL)

Sending Ozzy Back On The Road
Sharon Osbourne
Heavy metal maestro Ozzy Osbourne has canceled plans to take a three-week break from the road while his wife and manager of 20 years receives treatment for colon cancer,
the couple's publicist said on Thursday.
"After attending his wife Sharon's first chemotherapy treatment, he nearly passed out and had to be taken to a recovery room," the publicist said in a statement. "Sharon
now realizes that Ozzy is better off on the road so she's shipped him back out to finish OZZfest."
Osbourne, founding member of Black Sabbath, is headlining OZZfest, an annual road show of hard rock acts organized by his 49-year-old wife.
He will miss two OZZfest dates in Ohio -- Aug. 3rd in Columbus and Aug. 4 in Cleveland -- before resuming a month-long trek in Clarkston, Michigan on Aug. 7.

Remains In Jail
Steve-O
Steve-O, a host of the MTV daredevil show "Jackass," remains in jail on $150,000 bail for obscenity and battery charges stemming from a July 11 appearance in Louisiana.
The 28-year-old performer, whose real name is Stephen Glover, was arrested Monday and charged with being a fugitive, police said.
Glover, of Los Angeles, is accused of violating obscenity laws by exposing himself and stapling his scrotum to his inner thigh at a nightclub in Houma, La. He
also allegedly took part in a stunt in which a bouncer slammed a 19-year-old headfirst to the ground at The Abyss nightclub.
Police said the acts were recorded on videotape.
Deputy District Attorney Loren Naiman said that if Glover posts bail, he would be free to return on his own to Houma, La. to face charges.
If Glover does not post bail, he can fight extradition and remain in custody in Los Angeles for a month or more before he is returned. Otherwise, Louisiana
police will pick him up in Los Angeles, Naiman said.

Two Murals Stolen
Maxfield Parrish
Two murals by renowned American painter Maxfield Parrish, valued at $2 million each, were stolen from a gallery, authorities said.
The paintings, measuring 5 feet by 6 feet, were believed taken from the Edenhurst Fine Art Gallery in West Hollywood sometime Monday, Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Neill Murchison
said Wednesday. He declined to disclose other details.
The oil paintings were being offered for sale through the gallery and were part of a collection of six. They are known as the Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney murals, named for their former owner.
Dubbed panel 3A and 3B, they depict two couples and an urn set against the backdrop of the Colorado mountains.
Gallery attorney Tom Nunziato said sheriff's investigators told him the theft had to have been the work of professionals. Alma Gilbert, a Parrish expert and
curator of the Cornish Colony Museum in New Hampshire, said carting the paintings away would have been no easy task.
"This is unprecedented; you would need a moving truck and four people," Gilbert said.

'Freaky Friday' Remake
Kelly Osbourne
She won't bite the head off of a bat like papa Ozzy, but she will sing in Disney's update of the kiddie classic "Freaky Friday."
Kelly Osbourne is in negotiations to play the musically inclined best friend to the teen heroine in Walt Disney Pictures' quirky comedic remake of the 1976 picture.
The original featured Jodie Foster as a tomboyish teen who constantly quarrels with her mother (Barbara Harris). When mother and daughter reveal desires to escape their
drudgery of their current lives, they suddenly and inexplicably exchange bodies.
Lindsay Lohan, who starred in Disney's remake of "The Parent Trap," will play the teen, while Annette Bening has been cast as her widowed mother. Osbourne is also
expected to contribute at least one song to the picture's soundtrack, having covered Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" on the soundtrack to MTV's hit reality series "The Osbournes."

Hosting Miss America Pageant
Wayne Brady
Comedian Wayne Brady will host the Miss America Pageant this year, the first black master of ceremonies in its 81-year history.
Brady, 30, an Emmy-nominated entertainer best known for his work on ABC-TV's "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?" will headline the Sept. 21 telecast culminating in the crowning of Miss America 2003.
He replaces Tony Danza, who had the job last year.
The naming of Brady as host coincides roughly with the fall debut of "The Wayne Brady Show," a daytime variety show that will air beginning Sept. 2 on ABC. It continues
ABC's practice of using the pageant host job to promote the network's other shows.
After taking over from longtime network sponsor NBC in 1997, ABC used soap opera stars John Callahan and Eva LaRue Callahan, football broadcaster Boomer Esiason and
talk show host Meredith Vieira, and brother-sister duo Donny and Marie Osmond.
Brady wouldn't say whether he will be the one to serenade the winner with "There She Is" as she takes her runway walk.

'Satchmo SummerFest'
Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong would have turned 101 Sunday, and the city of his birth is celebrating in typical New Orleans fashion with music, food and a Roman Catholic Mass.
"Satchmo SummerFest," planned as a one-time event, was so popular last year that organizers decided to make it an annual event.
The festival kicks off Thursday with a reception at the Louis Armstrong International Airport, renamed last year in honor of the musician, who died in 1971. The event will continue through Sunday.
There will be four stages of free musical performances. Scheduled performers include Wendell Brunious, Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers, Tuba Fats and the Chosen Few Brass Band,
Dejans Olympia Brass Band, the Dukes of Dixieland and Dr. Michael White.
Local restaurants are also joining in the revelry. On the grounds of the Old U.S. Mint, several restaurants will sell red bean dishes on "Red Bean Alley." Festival organizers chose a red
bean theme because Armstrong signed his letters "Red Beans and Ricely Yours."

Whoopi Goldberg And
Joan Rivers
Now that Joan Rivers' "Broke and Alone in London" has finished its extended, sold-out run, she's looking to bring the hit to New York - possibly as a two-woman
show with Whoopi Goldberg, possibly titled "Black and White." "There is talk about doing something together," a source confirmed. The two women would share top
billing and alternate who would open the show and who would follow. Since Joan's show in London was only 45 minutes to an hour, the addition of Whoopi would
justify an intermission - and a top ticket price.

Trekking to Wisconsin
Deadheads
The Grateful Dead may not be the same without Jerry, but that isn't stopping fans from trekking to a tiny Wisconsin town for a landmark reunion tour this weekend.
After lead singer Jerry Garcia's death in 1995, the Dead retired from touring. The band's surviving members put on a show every now and then as The Other Ones.
But all four surviving founding members — bassist Phil Lesh, guitarist Bob Weir, and drummers Bill Kreutzman and Mickey Hart — have been on the same stage only twice
since Garcia's death: once in 1998 and then last New Year's Eve in Oakland, Calif., said the Dead's longtime publicist, Dennis McNally.
Initially, Walworth County, Wis., authorities denied the band a permit, fearing that thousands of their fans — known as Deadheads — would show up with booze, drugs and general mayhem. The officials relented, however.
If all goes smoothly at the venue, the Alpine Valley Music Theatre, The Other Ones plan a 15-show arena tour of the Midwest and East Coast in November and December.

Wife Files for Divorce
John Walsh
The wife of "America's Most Wanted" host John Walsh has filed for divorce and sought custody of the couple's two children.
In a petition filed at the Indian River County Courthouse, Reve Walsh said her 31-year marriage was irretrievably broken.
Reve Walsh is seeking alimony, child support, exclusive use of the marital home, medical and other insurance, attorneys fees and costs and equitable distribution of their assets, according
to the petition, which was filed earlier this month.
John Walsh acknowledged in court documents that "there are marital difficulties at this time," but denies the marriage is irretrievably broken.
He asked the court to delay the divorce hearing until he and his wife can attend marriage counseling.

Halts Concert Tour
Diana Ross
Pop diva Diana Ross, who checked herself into a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center two months ago, has canceled the remaining dates of her summer concert tour, a spokeswoman said on Thursday.
No reason was given for halting the 14-date, 10-city North American outing, which opened last week at the Westbury Music Fair in New York and continued with performances in Boston
and in Ontario, Canada, before the tour was scrubbed.
A spokeswoman for the 58-year-old singer confirmed reports that she had canceled the rest of the tour schedule but declined to answer questions. "There is no comment," she said.

Faces Cocaine Charge
Josh Randall
Josh Randall, who plays Dr. Mike Burton on the NBC television series "Ed," has been arrested for allegedly smoking crack cocaine in a Brooklyn park.
Randall, 30, was smoking crack with a homeless man in a park near the Brooklyn Navy Yard around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. He has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled
substance, and police said they recovered a small quantity of crack at the scene.
Randall was caught in a routine drug operation, police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Hays said.
The actor's lawyer, Ken Glassman, released a statement Thursday saying the arrest was the result of a misunderstanding.
"Josh, who is not a New Yorker, was taking a walk in Brooklyn and got lost," Glassman said. The lawyer said Randall, who is from Pacific Grove, Calif., asked a homeless man for directions to the bus,
and the homeless man asked him for money.
"Josh gave him $20 — at which point he was arrested," said Glassman. "Josh has committed no crime. These allegations are a misunderstanding and are unsubstantiated."

'Washlette'
Constipation can be a real pain in the ass. And dealing with menstruation is usually bloody awful, which probably goes a long way to explain why sales of toilets with
built-in bidets have skyrocketed in Japan over the past decade. But, according to Shukan Gendai (8/10), washlettes, as the high tech lavatories are referred to locally,
are also servicing a rapidly growing number of women's more carnal needs.
Cabinet Office research into consumer durables shows that while only 14.2 percent of Japanese households had a toilet with a built-in bidet just 10 years ago, that
figure has blasted up to 47.2 percent now.
"Washlettes are one of the products that have rapidly come to be regarded as an important durable consumer item," a Cabinet Office spokesman tells Shukan Gendai. "With
sales growing yearly, they have probably become an indispensable item for consumers."
Wako University lecturer on sex therapy Kim Myung Gun, though, sees washlette wanking as little more than a fad.
"Sure, a washlette would feel very good. It's because the water offers sexual stimulation. But it seems to me that the girls doing it are very sexually immature. After a woman gives
birth, her inner nether regions develop and she wants to have them stimulated. A washlette simply can't do that," Kim tells Shukan Gendai. "One day, these women will find that the
washlette doesn't give them the same sort of thrill anymore. They'll look for some other type of stimulation like that which can be offered by, say, an electric toothbrush."
For a lot more details, Washlette
