In The Chaos Household
Last Night
While doing laundry & making one eyebrow into two, had 'Friends' on in the background. What happened to Marlo Thomas' upper lip?
Long time ago, she hosted a fund-raiser, at her home, for George McGovern. Pepperdine (at that time) offered classroom credit for working on political campaigns.
Most of my classmates worked for Nixon. 2 of us worked for McGovern. Marlo Thomas' fundraiser was my big city baptism, so to speak.
Kind of thought there'd have been a 'Streets of San Francisco' comment or 2 on 'Will & Grace' with Michael Douglas' visit.
Missed about an hour (or so) because there were opposums copulating on the roof. Jeez. Life in the big city...LOL
This page will be 'dark' for the next couple of days...scroll down for the official announcement. If you send me
something & it gets bounced back, please try re-sending very late Sunday/very early Monday. The mailboxes tend to fill up, and
I hate missing mail that ain't a bill!
Tonight, Friday, CBS goes retro - in a good way. Even though it's May sweeps, they are rerunning the
'Carol Burnett Show: Show Stoppers' because it's pretty good, although they never mention Lyle Waggoner, and his
absence. Following is a fresh made for TV movie, 'Diagnosis Murder: Without Warning', with Dick Van Dyke & son, Barry.
Scheduled on a fresh Dave are Rita Wilson (Mrs. Tom Hanks) & Dwayne Kennedy.
Scheduled on a fresh Craiggers are Lauren Ambrose & Tenacious D.
NBC has a fresh night with 'Providence', 'Dateline', and 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'
Scheduled on a fresh Jay are Christina Ricci & Jay Mohr.
Scheduled on a fresh Conan are Belle & Sebastian.
Since it's May sweeps, ABC provides so-called 'fresh' episodes of their so-called 'Funniest Videos/Commercials' franchise, and follows with
'20/20' where Barbara Walters interviews Robert Blake's daughter, Delinah (Trite Comment Alert - BFD).
Scheduled on a fresh Bill Maher are I don't know....although D.L. Hughley got Ralph Nader to earn his 'scale' wages Thursday night.
The WB is all fresh with 'Sabrina', 'Raising Dad', 'Reba' (uh-oh, the kid pops a kid), and 'Maybe It's Me', with the first
part of a 2-parter.
Faux is also fresh with 'When Animals Invade Your Home' and 'Dark Angel' (where there's a showdown a-brewing).
Most PBS stations will be offering 'NOW With Bill Moyers', which is TV the way it's supposed to be.
On AMC are the original 'Frankenstein' followed by one of my all-time favorite Vincent Price movies, 'The Tingler'. Sorry the titles aren't linked tonight...
I'm running late (how unusual), and there are still clothes in the dryer to be tended...argh!
Also, on TMC, there's a bit of a tribute to Henry Fonda with 'Yours, Mine & Ours' (Lucille Ball co-stars), and the always wonderful 'Mr. Roberts' (and where
Jack Lemmon won his first Oscar for Ensign Pulver).
For more info on these movies, go to Internet Movie DataBase (imdb.com).
Depending on a variety of variables, expect to be back to speed sometime Monday (if the jet lag doesn't get me - LOL).
As Kurt Vonnegut wrote in 'Cat's Cradle', ''(suggestions for) travel are dancing lessons from god.'' Damn. Time to dance.
Anyone have any opinions?
Or reviews?

Big Dog Watch Continues
Bill Clinton At The Apollo
Pop superstar Michael Jackson and former President Bill Clinton brought hundreds of Democratic supporters to Harlem on Wednesday to raise nearly
$3 million for the Democratic National Committee.
Clinton spoke only a few words before the pop star's appearance -- and did not join in on saxophone as many in the audience had hoped -- but the
two big names helped reap $2.7 million for party coffers, said DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe.
Clinton told the crowd that voting was important because it builds a sense of community.
"With all the stuff going on in the world, Sept. 11, turmoil in the Middle East, conflicts all over the world, we're in America trying to build a
community in which everybody can respect his or her own race or religion and still be a part of a larger community," he said.
"The only way we can do that is if everybody feels that he or she has a part of the citizenship pie."
Ruben Blades and crooners Tony Bennett and k.d. lang also performed at the event in Harlem's famed Apollo Theater, not far from Clinton's offices.

Homer's Quotes
On religion:
Homer Simpson: God is teasing me! Just like he teased Moses in the desert!
Marge Simpson: *Tested,* Homer. God *tested* Moses
On work:
Homer Simpson: Lisa, if you don't like your job you don't strike. You just
go in every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American way.
On Women:
Homer Simpson: Bart, a woman is like a beer. They look good, they smell
good, and you'd step over your own mother just to get one!
On Internet:
Homer Simpson: Oh, they have the Internet on computers now.
On Family:
Homer Simpson: Please don't eat me! I have a wife and kids. Eat them!
On Sports:
Home Simpson: Son, when you participate in sporting events, it's not
whether you win or lose, it's how drunk you get.

MTV's 'Most-Watched Episode - EVER!
'The Osbournes'
It's music to MTV's ears: Tuesday's installment of "The Osbournes" was the most-watched episode ever for a series on the cable channel.
The reality show, starring headbanger Ozzy Osbourne and his rambunctious family, drew 7.8 million viewers (as many people who watched last Sunday's "Practice" rerun on ABC).
The episode -- highlighted by Osbourne's wife Sharon threatening to urinate into a Jack Daniel's bottle -- also rocked and rolled to some impressive demo
scores: a 7.3 rating among females 12-17, 6.7 among females 12-34 and 5.0 for males 12-34. In households, it garnered a 4.7 rating, eight share.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
Accordions Rock
Zydeco star C.J. Chenier admits the accordion doesn't have the mystique of the saxophone, his first instrument.
You can tell they're thinking, `Accordion? Man, that's not cool.' But they're wrong, it's one cool instrument," says Chenier, a performer at this year's
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
The accordion, the instrument that calls up memories of lederhosen, Lawrence Welk and bubble machines, has been embraced by some of the hottest groups
headed to the festival, which starts Friday and lasts for a week.
The accordion will not only be played on stages around the annual music festival, it even decorates the festival's Hawaiian-style shirt that has become
a symbol of the annual event.
"Accordions define hipness," says Bud Brimberg, president of BayouWear, which produces the shirts. "People in Minnesota might think of Lawrence Welk and
polkas and think they're not very cool, but if you look inside Louisiana culture you get another picture. People there know how an accordion can wail, how
it can add depth and color, how it can do things you won't believe in the right hands. They know it's the coolest."

Avoids Psychiatric Evaluation
Courtney Love
Actress and rock singer Courtney Love will not have to undergo a psychiatric evaluation as part of an ongoing dispute with the Nirvana bandmates of her
late husband, Kurt Cobain, a judge has ruled.
Granting the request made by a lawyer representing Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl would "serve no purpose other than to contribute a circus-like atmosphere"
to legal proceedings in a marketing dispute, King County Superior Court Judge Robert Alsdorf said Wednesday.
Alsdorf allowed Love to withdraw her earlier claim that she was incapacitated when she entered into the partnership. Because she was no longer claiming she was
incapacitated, the judge wrote, a mental evaluation was not appropriate.
The judge noted that Love has been called "mercurial," a characterization that he said was "not entirely without reason." He warned her Wednesday that if she
tries to claim once again that she was incapacitated when she entered into the business arrangement, the issue of a mental examination could be revisited.
At the center of the dispute is the unreleased song, "You Know You're Right," recorded by the Seattle grunge group shortly before Cobain's death. Love has fought
the song's release.
The lawsuit is set for trial in September, but both sides have said they hope a settlement can be reached. Grohl and Novoselic turned down an offer from Love earlier this year.

Yo Quiero a Nueva York?
Marc Anthony
Starting Thursday, the 25-year-old "I Love New York" campaign takes a Latin twist as its first-ever Spanish language television commercial airs featuring
salsero Marc Anthony in a new effort to help the city's tourism rebound following the Sept. 11 attacks.
Spanish Harlem-born Marc Anthony will appear in the 60-second TV spots, which also have English-language versions, that will run through mid-May in 29
counties in the New York metropolitan area and in Miami, another city with a large Hispanic population.
In the spot, Marc Anthony walks on 116th Street and Lexington Avenue, the heart of El Barrio, as he talks fondly about typical Latino dishes like rice
and beans and invites viewers to visit New York.
As he travels throughout the city he's mistaken for Puerto Rican pop idol Ricky Martin, and a cabby singing to Marc Anthony's hit "I need to know" playing
on the radio does not believe it is the actual singer riding in his cab when he identifies himself.

James Carville
James Carville has been wrong plenty, but he sounded very convincing yesterday shooting down speculation his wife, Mary Matalin, would replace departing Karen
Hughes as counselor to President Bush. "You want to make a lot of money?" the Ragin' Cajun asked Don Imus on his radio/TV show. "I'll give you two bets to make - Hillary
doesn't run for president in 2004 and Mary Matalin does not want or will not get Karen's job . . . Because if she gets that job, she'll have to get a new husband."

'Who Let The Prudes Out?
Joe B sent this one in.
Last week at Comiskey Park, the White Sox played the Whitesnake song, "Here I Go Again," when Chuck Finley and his Cleveland teammates took the field before
a game. This was a subtle dig at Finley, who is in the middle of a divorce from his wife, Tawny Kitaen, the "actress" best known for having appeared in Whitesnake videos.
This so offended some sensitive souls that the White Sox felt the need to apologize profusely to Finley and fire the music director, Joe Stephen, responsible for
playing the song. Which is amazing on two counts. One, that anyone would take the situation so seriously. And two, that anyone with the White Sox could even recognize
a Whitesnake song when it played.
The White Sox grossly overreacted. Rather than cause for apology, taking musical digs at an opponent is a well-established part of sports tradition. I remember when
Minnesota-native Jack Morris made his return to the Metrodome after signing a three-year contract with the Blue Jays immediately after he had fulfilled his "lifelong
dream" by winning the 1991 World Series with his hometown Twins. As Morris warmed up on the mound, the stadium guy played, "I Want to Be Rich."
For the rest, 'Who Let The Prudes Out?'
Thanks, Joe! Besides, look how many sports franchises still use Gary Glitter's 'Rock & Roll, Part 2'. And he was convicted! Jeez.
