You are in for such a treat now. Here's the much-anticipated interview with internationally known mashup artist Bobby Martini. I wrote about him in this column last week, so you would have time to familiarize yourself with the bootleggy goodness of his music. Hopefully you're all ready, and we will now commence.
Q 1: Can you offer us any tips, from the master, how to find songs to pair up?
A 1 - For me it's always been about songs I love, whether it be new or old. It's normally always tracks I'm really into at that moment in time. Obviously it helps if you have a pella and an instrumental but sometimes life isn't that convenient !!!!
Q 2: When you do a track, what portion of the creativity is for you, and what portion is for your audience?
A 2 - 100% for me. Always has been. I started producing mashups long before I started my site. A lot of my early work will never be heard as they were 'joke' mashups but I have always done them for myself. If others like my work it's a bonus.
Q 3: I've been hearing from some bootleggers that there's money in them there tunes. Any opinion?
A 3 - No money for me so far LOL. Indirectly I suppose there has been from playing mashups at gigs etc but I don't think many of us mashers have made any serious money.
Q 4: We've been able to enjoy your tracks on some great compilations, like "This One's For Joe". Is that a trend you'll continue with?
A 4 - Yes, look out for one of my contributions on a future Scissor Sisters compilation. It's always good to get an invite to take part in comps along with your peers - it's a challenge more often than not but I like it.
Q 5: People get asked this a lot, but we are all interested-who were your influences when you started up?
A 5 - My first exposure to mashups was via a jukebox satellite channel in the UK called Q. They used to feature a show entitled "Q-Mix" which featured mashup videos. It blew me away but didn't think at the time I would get involved. A couple of years later I came across some comedy mixes by a guy calling himself 'Diuffusion' and thought to myself 'I could do that'. I came across some software called Audacity a while later and the rest is history. Today I lsiten to as much work by other people as I can but I find it hard to keep up with it all. Personal faves for me are Ben Double M and Voicedude.
Q 6: What celebrities has your musical career brought you in contact with?
A 6 - LOL - not many I'm afraid. A few radio DJ's but I don't think there is much chance of having to dress up for a red carpet function any time soon !!!
Q 7: What is your regular bootlegging garb, a suit, or is it something more casual?
A 7 - More often than not it's a nice 'tasteful' Hawaian shirt with some suitable shorts (depending on the weather) or some jeans - oh and don't forget my lucky thong.......NOT !
Q 8: Have any of your tracks become favorites over others, with the passage of time? I like the one you did that goes "Da da da", lol!
A 8 - Yeah, some of my work I can listen to again and again whereas other stuff, especially the 'difficult' mashups (the ones where you have to listen to the same loops over and over again !) I can be sick off before I even post them on my site. My very faves are 'Lullably In Your Eyes', 'Toxic Milkshake', 'Break The Ray Down A Little Bit', 'People Hold On For A Quiet Life', 'Gaye Parsons', 'Kill Bill In The Air Tonight', 'Mama In The Tomb', and an upcoming Goldfrapp mash that I finished a while back but I absolutely love !
Q 9: Do you have a musical background that accounts for your current musical expertise?
A 9 - Yeah, I learned the drums at age 6 to the big band music of everything from Count Basie to James Last and played many instruments throughout my life, some better than others. I was in a number of different bands in the late 80's and 90's of varying levels of talent. Vocalist in one, keyboard player in another, drummer in another, etc, etc. I think my mashups are very melodic and my background in music reflects that.
Q 10: Do you recommend any particular type of sneaker or running shoe to get away from adoring fans?
A 10 - I'm a real comfort freak and I find Crocs work fine for me LOL
Well, there you have it. Words of wisdom from the master. Now compare those words with the tunes, and there's a chance you'll glean some insight into the workings of an artistic mind. For those of you in the back row that came in late,

There may be widespread fears of an impending recession running through the minds of most Americans, but there aren't among the country's richest citizens. Contrary to common assumption, many of the wealthiest Americans aren't worried about the weakening economy at all, they are actually excited about it.

Driving down Highway 52 last Monday morning at high speed so as not to be late for an MRI of my cranium, I passed a semi as it was barreling through a snowdrift and suddenly I was in a cloud of whiteness, much like the Rapture will be, but with zero visibility.
MARK KLEMPNER: Remembering Pete Seeger (huffingtonpost.com)
"Pete Seeger: The Power of Song" ... brought back many memories, for Seeger has had a huge impact on me personally, intensified by my having had the opportunity not only to see him in concert a half a dozen times or more, but also to spend some time with him off-stage when I was a teenager.

Celebrities Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and Madonna are among hundreds of patrons of a New York bar being urged by New York health officials on Thursday to get a Hepatitis A vaccination after a bartender was found to be infected.
The city health department issued a statement, warning anyone who visited Socialista in Manhattan's West Village on February 7, 8 or 11 to get a vaccination.
Entertainment photo agency WireImage showed guests at the Socialista event, including Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ivanka Trump, Liv Tyler, Catherine Keener, Lucy Liu and Salma Hayek.
Other celebrities reported at Socialista were Javier Bardem, nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar, Eric Dane, Rebecca Gayheart and fashion designer Roberto Cavalli.
A teenager who suffered a breakdown on the German version of "American Idol" could end up costing its broadcaster 100,000 euros ($147,000).
Germany's Cultural Council, an official youth protection watchdog, has recommended private German broadcaster RTL be fined for broadcasting the incident, and other humiliating moments on its top-rated "Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar" or "DSDS."
The Cultural Council accused RTL of "malicious disregard" for humanity on the show, arguing that the manner in which contestants are humiliated on the show could have detrimental effects on young viewers.
In one of these sessions this season, a 17-year old boy was so upset by the audition and the jury's criticisms that he hyperventilated and collapsed. Since his appearance on the show, where his full name and hometown were made public, he has received hundreds of abusive phone calls and has been forced to take leave from school.

ABC's top-rated "Grey's Anatomy" will return to its usual Thursday night time period in April, bumping "Lost" to the less desirable 10 p.m. slot.
Having resumed production after the writers strike, the medical drama will come back to the tentpole 9 p.m. period for five original episodes beginning April 24.
"Lost" will also air the first of five originals on that date. But the drama will find itself in a slot with lower viewing levels, and the show notably declined after shifting from 9 p.m. Wednesdays to 10 p.m. last season. "Lost," however, might gain significantly from a large "Grey's" lead-in, even if their respective audiences are not perfectly compatible.
ABC has tried several new shows in the 10 p.m. Thursday period that have been unable to capitalize on "Grey's" success. Case in point: Current occupant "Eli Stone" is notably absent from the newly announced spring lineup. An ABC spokesman said the network hasn't decided when the remaining "Stone" episodes will air.
Sean Lennon will score the indie vampire comedy "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Undead," which stars fellow celebrity spawn Jake Hoffman and Devon Aoki.
Hoffman (son of Dustin) plays an unemployed actor who gets his big break directing a bizarre off-Broadway version of "Hamlet." But there's a catch: The adaptation is written by a Romanian (John Ventimiglia, best known as chef Artie Bucco on "The Sopranos") who happens to be undead.
Aoki (daughter of Benihana steakhouse king Rocky Aoki) plays Hoffman's love interest. Ralph Macchio will play a mob boss who ends up fighting vampires. Jeremy Sisto plays a bumbling detective investigating the mysterious deaths surrounding the production. The project marks the feature debut of writer-director Jordan Galland.
Daily Variety, the venerable show business "trade" magazine and Hollywood fixture for over 70 years, was put up for sale on Thursday as part of a cost-cutting plan by its parent company, Reed-Elsevier.
The Anglo-Dutch company said it would spin off Variety as part of a planned sale of its Reed Business Information publishing unit, which also includes such titles as Publishers Weekly, Broadcasting and Cable and Multichannel News.
While Variety is by far the best known brand in Reed's business publishing division, company executives indicated they would prefer to sell the unit as a whole, though they did not rule out a separate bid for Variety.

"Law & Order" veteran Jesse L. Martin is leaving the long-running NBC drama after nine years, and will be replaced by Anthony Anderson.

A woman who was shown on an ABC News program being beaten by her stepfather sued the network Wednesday, claiming negligence and recklessness.
The lawsuit addresses video footage included in a "Primetime" segment called "Stepfamilies in Crisis" that aired in 2006 and shows Kyle Nelson, then 15, being held down, berated and punched.
The footage was taken from hundreds of hours captured at the home several years before the show was aired. Viewers responded with thousands of e-mails questioning why ABC didn't step in to stop or report the abuse.
ABC responded at the time with this statement on its Web site: "While we felt the incident in question was disturbing, it was the only scene of physical punishment in the hundreds of hours of footage that ABC News reviewed."

Pauly Shore is suing neighbor Wes Craven for creating a nightmare on his property in a dispute between the two that began last year.
Shore claimed that a landslide on his Hollywood Hills property in December 2006 was caused by Craven's failure to properly maintain vegetation and landscaping on a hillside on his property, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in Superior Court.
The comedian also alleged that Craven, the director of "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and the "Scream" series, did not eradicate rodents burrowing in the hill and made improvements on his property that "changed the geology, topography and drainage," according to the lawsuit.
Craven alleged that Shore upgraded his home with a pool, spa, landscaping and other improvements that caused water to seep down a slope and damage his property.
Hong Kong singer and actor Edison Chen said on Thursday he would step away from the Hong Kong entertainment industry to "heal himself," in his first public appearance since a sex scandal broke.
Hong Kong police said some 1,300 private shots of Chen in bed with at least half a dozen female celebrities had been copied by the staff of a computer repair shop from a faulty laptop believed to belong to Chen, sparking off a media frenzy.
The Canada-born Chen, a hip hop artist and Asian film star who has appeared in films such as Infernal Affairs, the Hong Kong triad film which inspired Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning film "The Departed," admitted for the first time that most of the pictures circulating on the Internet had been taken by him.
He said in a brief statement he would fulfill existing commitments before stepping down "indefinitely." He added that he would dedicate himself to charity and community work.

A parking lot attendant who claimed he was punched by Omar Sharif has won a knockout decision in court.
Superior Court Judge Joe W. Hilberman entered a default judgment Tuesday for more than $318,000 in damages in favor of Juan Luis Ochoa Anderson when the 75-year-old actor failed to show up for a deposition, according to court documents.
Sharif pleaded no contest last year to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to take an anger management course for the incident outside a Beverly Hills steakhouse in 2005.
Anderson was awarded total damages of $318,190 plus costs and attorneys' fees, according to court documents.

It was called the longest window in the world when its red, sapphire and purple panels were unveiled to airport travellers in 1960. Artists called it one of the most important stained-glass works in the United States.
But American Airlines quietly began dismantling the window's 900 panels last week at its old John F. Kennedy International Airport terminal, after years of debate and pleas by employees and artists to find a way to keep the abstract piece intact.
Many museums asked to display the window - more than 90 metres long and seven metres high - said it was too large. The airline said removing it in one piece, transporting it and storing it would cost millions.
Airline spokesman Tim Smith said small pieces of the window would become floor displays at Kennedy Airport, the airline's Fort Worth, Texas, headquarters and a Long Island museum. The rest is being given to an antique salvage company that is taking down the glass for free.
