Jennette Lovejoy: Fish oil can be an important part of a healthy diet (athensnews.com)
Omega-3s are good for you. Eat fish twice a week. Add a fish oil supplement to your daily routine. You've heard these comments, maybe from your neighbor, walking partner or family doctor. Why do you need more omega-3s in your diet? How can you effectively do this? Are these recommendations justified?
David Bruce: Wise Up! Food (athensnews.com)
As a young man trying to break into the music scene in New York City with four friends, Duke Ellington found the going tough. Sometimes, he and his four fellow musicians were forced to cut a hot dog into five pieces so everyone could have a bite to keep off starvation.
It was a TCM night …..And I was ready for a Classic Western Hollywood Shoot 'em Up "Come on Boys" Showdown at the ranch slappin' leather cowboy great…I had never seen Nicholas Ray's "Johnny Guitar" but I had heard some famous quotes from this fabled "Oater"……..
Dancin' Kid: "I didn't get your name stranger" !
Johnny: "Guitar, Johnny Guitar" !
Johnny : "How many men have you forgotten ?"
Vienna : "As many women as you've remembered !"
Emma (to Vienna) : you're nothin' but a railroad tramp!"
Here's the "True Grit" of it……………….
Vienna (Joan Crawford - "Lady of the Night"(double for Norma Shearer) (1925) - "The Boob" (1926) - "Mildred Pierce" (1945) - "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?" (1962) (her famous quote: "I need sex for a clear complexion, but I'd rather do it for love") owns the only saloon outside of town. She is hoping that the new railroad will come through so she can build a new town. But the old townfolk led by Emma Small (Mercedes McCambridge - voice of the demon in "The Exorcist" (1973) and her husky voice spoke through Regan and said to the priest "Your mother sucks cocks in hell….") want nothing of it and are trying to string up Vienna and her gang for a stage coach robbery and murder that they didn't do….
Enter Vienna's "new" handyman ….Johnny Guitar (Sterling Hayden - famous quote "There's nothing wrong with being an actor if that's what a man wants, but there's everything wrong with achieving an exalted status simply because one photographs well and is able to handle "dialogue" !) who strums his harmony guitar calmly without letting on that he was a famous gunslinger and faces off with the Dancing Man (Scott Brady - "The Law vs. Billy the Kid" (1954) - "Gremlins" (1984) and the stage is set for a battle between 2 bodacious, ballsy, bad ass babes……………
This movie had some incredible character actors, extras and a great soundtrack singer…………..
Posseman: Sheb Wooley - sang "One Eyed, One Horned, Flyin' Purple People Eater" (1958)
"The Ballad of Johnny Guitar" was written and sung by Peggy Lee!
Film Location : Red Rock Crossing, Sedona, Arizona !!!!!!!
Spoiler Alert
Joan Crawford started out in silent films and never lost that under lit, over played, incredibly animated facial close up charisma….Her character, Vienna, has been called every name in the book….she's had her Saloon burned to the ground…even had the noose around her neck…but in the end, the good bad bitch beats out bad bad bitch and Emma bites the dust!
Purple Gene gives "Johnny Guitar" 9 completely campy gunfights out of 10 for lots of bang bang but being just a little dated ("Rotten Tomatoes" gives "Johnny Guitar" 100% on the Tomato Meter)

Star Hollywood actor-activists including Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon and anti-war campaigners led by bereaved mother Cindy Sheehan plan to launch a hunger strike, demanding the immediate return of US troops from Iraq.
As Americans get set to fire up barbeques in patriotic celebration of US Independence Day on July 4, anti-war protestors planned to savour a last meal outside the White House, before embarking on a 'Troops Home Fast' at midnight.
The hunger strike was the latest bid by the US anti-war movement to grab hold of American public opinion, after numerous marches, vigils and political campaigns.
Despite polls which show the Iraq war is unpopular and many Americans are skeptical of resident George W. Bush's wartime leadership, peace protests have not hit the opinion-swaying critical mass seen during Vietnam War.

Hoping to save a piece of hometown history, Willie Nelson has bought the Methodist church where he honed his musical skills as a boy.
Nelson, 73, celebrated the church's preservation at a Sunday service that brought together longtime parishioners, friends and family - including his sister - for prayers and gospel music.
"Sister Bobbie and I have been going to this church since we were born," Nelson said. "Now, you're all members of the Abbott Methodist Church, and you will be, forever and ever."
In between blessings from guest ministers, Nelson performed with his sister and guests including Leon Russell. They sang hymns such as "Uncloudy Day," "I'll Fly Away," "Will the Circle be Unbroken" and "Precious Memories."
Hip-hop producer Dallas Austin was granted a pardon on Tuesday hours after a Dubai court sentenced him to four years in jail for possession of narcotics, a local newspaper said.
The report on the Gulf News Web site did not say who issued the pardon, which is usually granted by the rulers of the emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates.
Local newspapers said Austin was arrested at Dubai airport on May 19 when police found at least 1.26 grams of the drug and other illegal substances in his possession.

This ice cream comes with an unusual stipulation - customers must sign a waiver before tasting it because it's so hot.
Cold Sweat, a flavor sold at ice cream shop Sunni Sky's, is made with three kinds of pepper and two kinds of hot sauce.
Proprietor Scott Wilson started out experimenting with jalapenos in vanilla ice cream to appeal to Hispanic customers - which was unsuccessful - and worked his way up to Cold Sweat.

While the Navy was staging war games and hunting down "enemy" submarines with sonar off the island of Kauai two summers ago, more than 150 lost and disoriented whales were swimming chaotically in the shallows of Hanalei Bay.
That mass stranding was a scene neither the Navy nor environmentalists want to see repeated as 40 ships from eight countries return to the islands this month for the world's largest international maritime war games.
But the two sides agree on little else, including whether sonar was to blame for that incident.
This week, environmentalists won a temporary restraining order to stop the Navy from using a high-intensity sonar during this year's Rim of the Pacific 2006 exercise, which had scheduled sonar use to start Thursday.
The federal judge's order Monday came just days after the Defense Department granted the Navy a six-month exemption from certain federal laws protecting marine species to allow use of the "mid-frequency active sonar." Environmentalists had argued that the exemption was aimed at circumventing their lawsuit.
A bear cub drew a crowd of spectators at a Lake Tahoe neighborhood as it munched on barbecue-chicken-and-jalapeno pizza in the back seat of a vintage red Buick convertible.
It also apparently washed it down with a swig of a Jack Daniel's mixer, an Absolut vodka and tonic, and a beer taken from a cooler, the vehicle's owner said.
The bear remained inside the 1964 Buick Skylark for about 20 minutes and at times put his paws on the dash as if he were holding on for a ride, Patterson said.
The owner of the car, David Ziello of South Lake Tahoe, said the bruin didn't cause any damage, but slopped cheese and jalapenos on the seats and floor.
Singer and songwriter Willie Denson, perhaps best known for the hit "Mama Said," has died at the age of 69.
Denson, who died Saturday of lung cancer at his Columbus home, published more than 250 songs, some recorded by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Gene Pitney and the Ronettes. He also appeared on television shows such as "American Bandstand" and "Soul Train."
"Mama Said," co-written by Luther Dixon and sung by the Shirelles, who recorded four of his other pieces, reached No. 4 on the national charts in 1961.
Denson also worked more than 30 years for the U.S. Postal Service in New York City, returning to Columbus in 1995.
In 2001, he won a $3 million Lotto Georgia jackpot, taking a $1.29 million cash option.
In this photo provided by Six Flags Marine World, Nairobi, a 17-year-old reticulated giraffe, licks an ice block filled with apples and red, white and blue-colored ice cubes at Six Flags Marine World in Vallejo, Calif., Tuesday, July 4, 2006. The park placed the ice blocks in the giraffes exhibit as part of its special enrichment activities program highlighting the Fourth of July. The ice blocks encourage the giraffes to use their foraging skills in pulling out the apples and ice blocks, similar to how they pull leaves off an acacia tree.
